The Domes A little way off the path between the castle and the lake stand several half-sphere outdoor shelters, known as the domes. Made from a sturdy and clear, charmed material that keeps the temperature inside relatively comfortable, and the air fresh, the main purpose of the domes is a location to hang out, alone or with a few friends. They also serve as impromptu shelters during sudden downpours, cool relief from the summer heat, or a place to warm benumbed fingers and toes during bitingly cold winters. Each is accessible by a simple door made of the same material. |
It seemed Hogwarts always had new things to offer, so usually one of the first things Evan did upon getting back to school was going for a walk to see if there was anything new he could locate. Something he thought was even more important now that he needed to ensure Padme was getting all her exercise, as the kitten pawed alongside his feet while they explored. Not having class anytime soon, he'd opted for a simple pair of pants and a dark blue jumper - always sporting his house colors, though he couldn't tell someone if that was since he'd been sorted or if blue had just always been his aesthetic. His messenger bag was still over his shoulder, his research list and sketchbook tucked away, though he wasn't quite sure which one he was yet going to use. Spotting the domes, he made his way over - finding a dark one and pushing at the door to let himself in, and nearly jumping as it suddenly lit. Interesting.. he didn't bother to shut the door, and didn't turn to see if it had automatically shut behind him. He placed his bag down on the table before padding around the wall, see if he could notice the source of the light - while the kitten merely hopped up on to a chair and made herself comfortable for a nap after their stretch. |
Quote:
She headed over to the domes after a while, noticing one of them was lit. Ooh, interesting. Curious to see who was inside, maybe it was one of her friends, she entered. The gryffindor immediately spotted Evan, the corners of her lips lifting up in a smile. "Hi, Evan." She walked inside, looking around a bit. |
Quote:
He was just about to take a seat when he heard a voice and his name, and looking up he could see Valentina entering. Giving her a small smile, he offered a nod of acknowledgement as well. "Hey Valentina. How was settling back into your dorms?" The first few nights always seemed to be the most rambunctious for all the returning students and the amount of catching up there was to do. |
Olllieeeee! Anything new was bound to have caught Remy’s eye soon after the term began. She had already heard people discussing the domes out in the grounds, people calling it the coolest hang out spot ever. Nah, she was the first to call it that, but she stood by it. The domes were AWESOME. Perfect for quiet and lone chills, but also a great spot for friends to gather. Today she had arrived here alone, occupying and lighting up a dome just for her little self. If she could put a ‘DO NOT DISTURB’ sign up, she would, unless a bestie happened to walk by, of course. But the castle was huge so what were the chances of that? |
Quote:
She had planned on getting one for herself and practicing in quiet (she had hoped they were sound proof) but when she neared them, she spotted her best friend Remy. Or the last time they had talked they were best friends, and she hoped that the friendship still held the title. She eagerly hopped up to the dome and waved to catch the lion’s attention, a huge smile plastered on her face. “Remy!” |
Quote:
"Not bad at all. I mean, even though I miss dancing full time.. it's nice to be back." She smiled at him as she goes to sit to take a seat. "How about you? How was your summer?" |
Quote:
Remy had not expected to hear anyone else inside HER dome… well… she just didn’t want anyone here with her. Unless they were a bestie, of course, which it just so happened to be. Her eyes opened and she blinked a few times to let them adjust to the light. “Ollie? Hey…” she matched her friends big smile. “Where have you been?” It felt like she hadn’t seen her in ages, well apart from classes, but they hadn’t hung out in a while. And Remy required hanging out with besties at least 3 times per week. She patted a space next to her. These second years had some catching up to do. |
Quote:
"Do you still have some places around campus you can use for your dancing?" He heard people liked to use the Room of Requirement, but these domes might have also been a good option. Or even an abandoned classroom somewhere. "My summer was good. Kind of busy, but good. I spent some time visiting extended family with my cousin and that was probably the highlight." There was nothing better than Halmeoni's cooking. |
Quote:
"I prefer the room of requirement. It's the most convenient for me." Empty classrooms were slightly problematic because people preferred to study there sometimes and she didn't particularly like to practice in front of an audience. "That sounds like fun! My family and I went to the beach for a few days." Baylen's wedding was amazing too. She danced the rest of the summer away, basically. |
Quote:
”Well I‘ve been around.” She shrugged ”The castle is so big, it takes me a while to remember where everything is at.” She wasn’t sure where to start with Remy. They had been writing back and forth all summer since they weren’t able to hang as planned. She wondered if Remy was alright with aging her crush’s name yet. ”There’s so much for us to catch up on!” She looked to her friend. She hadn’t changed much over the summer, which Ollie was thankful for because she hadn’t either. At least they were in the same boat. Ollie leaned back and looked up at the sky. She could totally take a nap here, even though moments ago she wasn’t tired. She pulled her head back up. “Okay so first. Tell me all about your hangout seshes” She added a wink at the end hoping Remy knew exactly what she meant. |
Quote:
"That makes sense. What do you usually transform the room too? A dance studio or a performance stage?" Were he to trust using the room, he wondered what he'd actually want to transform it to himself. Maybe his family's home in Korea? Or Chase's dance studio? Though he supposed both of those options would also just make him feel homesick for his family. "Did you go boating or anything at the beach too or just soak up some sun?" Beach visits were the best part of summer, and he usually found himself curling up in the sand with a book. And depending on if his sister's were there too, he'd also help put together sandcastles. |
Quote:
"A dance studio!" Baylen's dance studio, to be more specific. It felt more comfortable somehow. Plus, it was big so there was plenty of room for her to move about. "But I guess I should give performance stage a go sometime too. Do you go up to the room of requirement often?" Val asked curiously. "Oh to just soak up the sun mostly! We played some volleyball too." Which had been super fun. The best part of beach visits though? Eating lots and lots of ice cream! Not that she didn't have it otherwise but there was something about sitting under the sun with a mint chocolate chip ice cream. YUM. |
Quote:
Remy caught the wink and she felt herself blush a little, because she knew who Ollie was referring to. Her letters had contained much information about such things, but talking about them in person felt a little embarrassing. “I just spent most of my time at the Diagon Alley celebration,” she said with a shrug of her shoulders. “Did you go to that in the end?” Remy knew that she had a bit of a lame summer on account of her dad being his usual jerk self. Using her fingers to count all the people she hung out with, Remy started, “i went with my sister most days… Me and Lisa went to watch a magical creature meet and greet… I got lots of curly fries with… I can’t remember her name.” She’d met a new person from Slytherin who was related to Scarlett Mordaunt. “Aaaaand… well, I hung out with my friend Atlas, too.” she shrugged again, blushed, and couldn’t help but smile as well. |
Quote:
Dance studio certainly made sense, and probably would have been his preference over a stage as well. "Makes sense. It's always nice to have the mirrors of a studio." A performance stage would be especially good for getting used to dancing on if she had any instances of stage fright. "Not too often. The magic of the room doesn't make much sense to me." So naturally, he was distrustful and chose to go elsewhere. He'd been rather curious his first term but that had quickly receded his second. "You look like you got a bit of a tan too." Which was... natural and probably an odd observation to have made, given the fact most people who went out to beaches DID usually end up with tans. "I don't think I've ever actually played volleyball. Is it fun?" |
Quote:
She has been performing on stage since she was seven so stage fright has never been an issue. "Exactly, I prefer the mirrors. Mostly to see if I'm making mistakes." It was a little frustrating that she didn't get to practice as much in school but it couldn't be helped. She raised her eyebrows, looking at him curiously. "Oh? Why is that?? It's so convenient!" The magic of the room didn't make sense to her either but did it actually matter? She needed space to dance and it was just perfect. She grinned, nodding her head. "Yeah, I did but it's already starting to fade unfortunately. Do you not go to the beach often? But yeah, volleyball is super fun.. except we spent more time arguing than anything else, which was also fun." |
Quote:
Mirrors were definitely good for catching your own mistakes. Video cameras could sometimes be better so there was undivided attention on the technical portions of dance, but that was usually pretty extra. "What styles do you usually do?" He thought she might have mentioned it before but... he found it slipping his mind now. "I... just don't understand the magic of it, or the limitations or anything like that. It just sometimes makes me uneasy." He could be very distrustful of magic in general, and the Room of Requirement was the biggest proponent of that. "We don't usually. We're more mountain people than beach people. But I usually go when I can visit my Halmeoni in Korea." And usually he'd just read on the beach or sometimes take a walk along the water. "There should be a big beach party for Hogwarts students over the summer." Because the volleyball thing sounded fun, and he assumed it was better in large groups. |
Quote:
She, obviously, got super excited at his question. "Hip-hop and contemporary are the styles I'm super good at all. I know ballet and jazz too. I want to learn salsa now." That was the plan at least. She always enjoyed learning and exploring new things when it came to dance. "Also, I like to blend different styles and come up with something new sometimes!" She turned quiet at his response, suddenly feeling a little nervous. Most people used the room of requirement, yes?? It was safe, right? "Have you ever asked a Professor about it? They would know what kind of magic is used, I think." Mountain people.. interesting. She'd never been to the mountains before, ever. As far as she remembered at least. "Mountains mean a lot of climbing, right?" She immediately brightened up at the idea. It sounded like a fun, didn't it? "Hey, maybe we should organize one next summer? What do you think?" |
from the greenhouses Plants levitating ahead of her and several students and board members in trail, Mia made her way to the domes. She gently lowered the potted plants to the ground. Hands on her hips, she took a long look around the area. She didn’t know everything about plants, but this seemed as good a place as any on the grounds to add some extra life. “Okay,” she told anybody who would listen, “I think if we start out with some around the entrances to the domes, it could look really nice, especially after a few years when they’re more established.” That was something people said about plants, right? After being transplanted, they had to grow in a little more? She thought it seemed about right. It made sense from a general standpoint. With any new creature, rehoming was stressful, so you had to wait a bit for them to relax and really start to grow and thrive in a new environment. |
Norman arrived only moments after Mia. “Thought you could use a hand,” he said, lowering his own plants beside the ones she’d brought. He, too, glanced around the area, sizing up the group that gathered, how many students and perhaps just as importantly, how many board members. The board wouldn’t be the only one observing today, and unlike them, he didn’t need a notepad to record his findings! He nodded in agreement to Mia’s suggestion. While he’d done well enough in Herbalism to score an “Accomplished” on the JARVEY, he lacked the creative vision to come up with a better idea for a garden himself. He really was not an artist or a gardener! Not to mention the fact that this was not necessary! The less time spent bantering back and forth, the sooner they could get this done and get on with their lives! He eyed the dome entrances. “Shall we all start with one dome or split up?” he asked Mia and the students present. Although he had his own thoughts about the matter, he was open to suggestions. |
Gemma liked plants and decided to go to the greenhouse to help out with planting these new plants. She followed to the domes as they split off hoping to help with the job and to get a chance to get her hands dirty. She had started a little garden over the summer and was really enjoying the time watering and growing vegetables and things. "Where would you like to start planting them? I can start in a place if pointed to the right direction." Looking around she thought maybe in the corner area might be a good place, "What about over there?" Glancing towards the professors and the govern people. She didn't much care for them being around. Didn't they have enough random people at the school in the last few years? |
Daniel would never acknowledge it out loud but he liked plants and flowers. They were a silent companion for when he had enough of being around people. At home, his favourite place apart from the family library was the greenhouse next to the manor and Daniel would spend a lot of time reading in there. Now, he liked plants and flowers but he wasn't exactly fond of working with them. So why was he here then, following the professors and other students? Pure boredom. He had finished his homework already and he wasn't in the mood to read today. That also reminded him that he still needed to visit Professor Holden's office to get the books he had recommended. He could do that after this was done. "You think i can get a plant for on my nightstand as well?" He wondered out loud as he stood next to the Gemma before his eyes looked over at the Governers for a second or two. " They are going to help out too, right? Or are they just going to watch and write in their notebook?" he said, lowering his voice a little and holding a hand infront of his mouth as if telling a secret. |

She couldn’t help but feeling a bit left out when her friend brought up the celebration. She felt her face drop a bit and hoped Remy didn’t notice. “That sounds like a lot of fun. But, no I didn’t get to go.” But She shouldn’t be surprised. Ollie explained everything in her letters about the fight with her dad. Then she was distracted by the mention of curly fries. She heard her stomach growl and her eyes widened. “Oh my.. I’m so sorry.” She felt a tad embarrassed. “Those curly fries just looked so good in my mind.” She chuckled. Ahh. So had Remy just admitted that they were just friends? She thought from their letters perhaps they were something more. But from Remy’s blush and emphasis on the word friend she figured they weren’t. Ollie leaned over and nudged her with her shoulder. “Lots of hanging out, huh?” She taunted and laughed. |
"I think if we split up, we can cover the most ground?" Norman's idea made sense, at least. Especially if they could get some of these board members to help. She glanced over at the Hufflepuff, Kitridge, she thought the girl's name was, and smiled. "That looks like an excellent place to start, Miss Kitridge." These students took such initiative, it was wonderful. Mia didn't think she'd been that pro-active when she was in school. To the younger Hufflepuff (my, they traveled in packs, didn't they?) she smiled as well. "Let's focus on the plants that will be out here, for everyone to enjoy, shall we?" she suggested. Maybe if there were extras, or maybe if he asked June politely later on, he could get a plant for his dormitory, but so many more people could be cheered by plants on the grounds. People and creatures, as a matter of fact. |

Oh, wow! She knew a LOT of different styles! Evan pretty much capped at classical and some hip hop, though he did expand a little more every summer with Noah and Chase. Just for fun, he had no intention of ever doing anything with any of it. "That's a lot! But that's so cool. Do you have a favorite out of all those?" He.. had no idea how to salsa, though he did wish he did so he could help in her task since she was kind of.. .stuck for the rest of the term. Unless he was misremembering that being a partnered dance. "Experimentation is always a fun way to do it. Dance is one of the best ways to express originality so it would make sense your style be too." The room of requirement was most definitely safe, it was just really that by the time Evan would have had any interest in exploring the room - he kind of hated magic as a whole. Or hadn't been allowed to roam the castle. "I havent... I guess I could though." Climbing, sitting on hills and just enjoying scenic views, colder climates. "Yeah, I like to hike. It's rewarding to pick a mountain as your goal, and then get to reach it and enjoy the prize of the view." But really... a beach day sounded like fun. He worried he'd be a disappointing co-planner given he didn't know THAT many people but... maybe he could get Lisa's help there. "We should! it could be really fun. And even MORE of a last hurrah before it's back to school and we have to buckle down for our exams." |
The pair of Board members that followed the group out the domes made sure to keep a good distance behind, allowing the Transfiguration and Creatures Professors to lead the planting instead. The one nodded at the creatures professor in agreement. "Yes, for now just focus on the grounds." Leave it to a Hufflepuff to want more plants for their dormitory. The board member did frown in consideration at his cohort when he overheard the whisper from the young Hufflepuff (Daniel) about them helping. "This is your school." Meaning, their job was not to tell them where specifically they should plant them only that they do get planted. Perhaps once specific locations were decided upon, they would help but for now, just oversight of the project. |

Remy giggled when Ollie’s stomach rumbled. “Did you not have any breakfast?” She patted her robes pockets because she usually had snacks stashed somewhere, but today wasn’t the case. “We should go by the kitchen soon… if you wanna, I could eat.” In a little bit anyway. Talking about her crushes with anyone was SO EMBARRASSING. Even with her closest friends, she absolutely hated it. If Ollie had a crush herself then she wouldn’t feel so bad. She nudged her right back and blushed some more. “Yeah. I guess.” She moved closer to Ollie to whisper. ”We held hands in DADA the other day.” She wouldn’t mention that she was completely in love with Atlas. She was also quite partial to an Evan Nam but there was only so much she could discuss in one sitting. |
Truthfully, Javier really enjoyed gardening. It was keeping the things ALIVE that he always struggled with. That and gnomes always seemed to get the better of him. Even though he enjoyed planting things and caring for them, it wasn't an ideal use of his time - but he was forcing himself to get down there and help out, even just for a bit. He knew he'd enjoy the greenery once he got down there, and he WAS genuinely curious as to how the grounds looked after his years at school. One thing in life was certain - the Hogwarts grounds would ALWAYS be changing. "'ello Mia," he greeted his colleague with a smile. "Where are we at in the planting process?" he asked, glancing around and trying to assess what else needed to be done. He still wasn't sure he bought the whole 'planting new plants will brighten up your school and your spirits' thing the Board was going for, but he wasn't a bright person to begin with, so perhaps he was just wrong. |
Planting around the entrances did seem like a good idea. Ivy was already picturing it in her head, especially how it might all look once the flowers were in full bloom, and it definitely had potential! The domes were already pretty nice, but a few extra flowers here would make them look even more welcoming. It was still weird that the board members had followed just to hang around and do nothing helpful, but she was trying not focus on them. Just...just focus on the flowers. On how nice it was outside. Anything besides them. "I'll get started on this one over here." In case anyone wanted to join? Once she'd reached the dome she'd chosen, she set the plants she was levitating down. Yeah, these would look nice around the entrance to this one! |
SPOILER!!: just quotes Mia tried not to look at the board members there, just...following, watching, not helping. She wasn't sure if this was normal, this...having people looking over your shoulder, but it was certainly not what she'd grown accustomed to in her line of work. If would take hours to care for creatures if there was someone second-guessing your every move. Kneeling down next to the entrance of one of the domes, she began digging with a trowel. Oh, good, Javier had arrived, too. She smiled at the man, gesturing to the students at work and the domes in general. "We're in the getting it done part of the process," she said with a small chuckle. The students seemed eager to dig and get the plants in the ground, and her fellow professors too! As she finished digging and settled some of the plants in the hole, she glanced around some more. "Looks good over there, Miss Grimm!" she called encouragingly. |
Daniel turned his head to look over at Professor Paszek before nodding his head. Fine, no plant for his nightstand for now. But she didn't say anything about later which meant he still had a chance. 'This is your school' Daniel frowned at these words because they were wrong. This was not his school he simply studied at it. "Isn't it your idea, though?" he questioned as he noticed Professor Hernandez enter the domes as well. He looked at him for a moment before turning his gaze back at the Board Members and then turned to walk after an older Ravenclaw student (Ivy) he was certain was called....well she had a plant name, didn't she? Very fitting. "I can help" he announced as he pointed a finger at the plants she had been levitating earlier. "with those. If you want" |
It sure got hot when you were just standing around, watching students and professors plant seedlings around the grounds. Glancing at the other, one of the board members rubbed his now sunburned neck before clearing his throat. "Alright children! I think that's good for now. Well done," he said, trying to give them a nod of encouragement. How many had they planted? Surely enough to brighten up these...dome...things...whatever they were. "You're free to leave now. Thank you for your assistance," he added to the kids before giving a curt nod of thanks to the professors nearby as well. |
For Ingrid! Dahlia being the wandering explorer that she was had come across the domes very shortly after the term had started. This had quickly became an interest of hers and a nice hideaway despite the simple fact that she was very easy to find. It was a nice comfy, quiet place to relax and read when she was outside but not wanting to be OUTSIDE. Like this afternoon. Having already helped out with the creatures in the barn and checked on all of her own plants, as well as went for a run.. it was now time for a bit of downtime. Settling down in one of the chairs inside the middle dome, Lia got herself comfortable. She had a few books to choose from and nail polish and all of her bracelet making materials. This was going to be a nice day. |
... It was probably going to be remarkably obvious to her how much Evan had zero idea what he was doing. He had been trying to think of the date as a 'no pressure' type of thing, considering they were friends and it didn't seem obvious for either if they were really all that attached, but... the fact remained it was still a date. And it was his first date at that. So nerves were still a thing, and he truly wondered if he could hang out with someone for longer than 45 minutes without feeling like he was boring them to tears. But he did try to come prepped. He'd spent some time in the kitchens with the elves to make pork buns and korean dumplings, rice cakes, korean sausages and chicken skewers and some twisted donuts for dessert. He'd only realized after packing it all into a picnic basket the elves had helped him charm to keep the food warm - that he wasn't sure if she even liked this type of food. But it was his comfort level of cooking with all the time his halmeoni had spent teaching him and the others how to cook it, and because he'd gone with street food he knew it was things that would be easy to eat in a picnic type setting. So... hopefully that was alright for her. He'd also brought down some music and borrowed a stereo, knowing she liked to dance so if he was that boring perhaps they could have just filled the time with that. He certainly hoped it was all enough, because no matter what his confusion he still did want Val to have a good time. Leaving the door open so she could enter when she came down, he set about putting a table cloth and all the foods out on a table, with an origami flower arrangement in the center. He had to pause every so often to cut some of the vines away, but all in all... it looked to be coming together fairly nicely. |
SPOILER!!: Evaaaan Valentina headed down to the domes, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Mostly nervousness, to be honest. She was dressed neatly - pairing her floral dress with a jacket, her hair pulled up in a neat bun ( which was very unusual for her ) and a pair of her favourite sneakers. The blonde wasn't sure how she felt about him yet but she'll find out on this date, hopefully. Pausing outside the domes, she adjusted her hair a bit before entering. ... um, wowow. She stared for a long moment, amazed at all the effort he had taken. The origami flowers, the food, stereo.. val finally met his gaze, turning slightly pink. "Hi." |
SPOILER!!: sweet Val! He had JUST managed to lay out the last of the food on the table in neat arrangement, when something caused him to turn his head and he could see Val enter. She looked really pretty, which she often did. It was odd seeing her hair up, but he rather liked the way it was pulled back and showing more of her face. He went to tell her how nice she looked, but he got nervous by the silence. ... Did she not like it? Maybe she was allergic to something he'd put out? He really should have checked with her before. If it was all inedible for her, he certainly had no problem running back to the castle for sandwiches or something. But then her attention turned to him and she smiled, so he tried to force himself to stop overreacting and smiled back. "Hi. You look really nice. I hope you're hungry?" Because he might have gone overboard in amount... |
SPOILER!!: Evan!! Of course she liked it!! Valentina was simply shocked that Evan went to so trouble just for her. Well, yes. It was a date but still! And the stereo.. she did wonder if they were going to dance, which only made her feel even more excited. "Yes, I am. Super hungry." She thought about planting a tiny kiss on his cheek but was suddenly feeling shy - not sure WHY so she decided to take a seat instead, looking at all the food. It was a feast, really. "You look really nice too." She glanced up to meet his gaze with a little smile. |
SPOILER!!: oops The fact she was hungry was a huge relief for the 15 year old Nam, and he smiled a bit in relief. He was planning on trying to pull out the chair for her to sit so they could get started, but she beat him to it so he just... awkwardly tried to pretend that's not why he had moved to the opposite side of the table from where his seat was. Moving to his own, a bit red, he sat down as well. "I'm glad to hear that! I forgot to ask you before, but I hope you like Korean street food?" And just in case she wasn't familiar with it, he had put out little cards by each dish so she could see exactly what was what. "Thank you!" He responded to her compliment, having to stop himself from mentioning the fact he'd had his cousins send it to him so he could try to dress at least differently than normal. He hadn't trusted their judgement at first but... he supposed the outcome was fine, and that she didn't seem to think he looked odd helped as well. "Do you want something to drink? I brought down some butterbeer and water and pop." A soft chuckle escaped too, "And I made sure to bring them unopened - so no spiking for any of these." The only way he would be drinking at Hogwarts from now on. |
Quote:
"I think I'll have a butterbeer, yes." She couldn't help but grin a little at his spiking comment. "I know, yeah.. Evan." She looked down at her hands as she spoke. "I hope you don't feel like you have to do this, you know?? Like.. you feel obligated to because of the great hall incident." |
SPOILER!!: val The fact she at least liked this food style was a huge weight off his shoulder, though he certainly hoped she would like the types she'd get to have a chance to try. "Hopefully some of it is to your liking." At the question of if he made it all, his hand came to the back of his neck and he scratched a bit at the skin there. "The elves did a lot of helping me with the prep", which was nice of them too and he'd left them a plate of cookies he'd made alone as well, "but otherwise yes. My grandmother in Korea likes to give us all cooking lessons when we visit her in the summers." A skill he was actually very thankful for. Hearing she'd like a butterbeer, he handed her one. Her next comment though had him looking down at his lap for a moment too, because maybe in the beginning he did think he needed to but... truthfully, as he'd started all the prep he'd started to really look forward to today. And he did like Val, at least to the extent where he knew he really enjoyed her company. When it came to the idea of relationships, he was beginning to realize that his attraction came from knowing a person - that was exactly what had happened with Dahlia. So spending more time with people was the only way he could ever really know how he felt. So he looked up, and he reached across the table to give her hand a small squeeze. "I'm here because I want to be. I hope you don't feel like you had any obligation either though." Either from coming, or whatever came after. If they didn't have feelings or any desire to explore something, no hard feelings from his end at all. |
SPOILER!!: Evan WOW, that was so COOL! Val didn't know even a little bit of cooking - and she should learn, to be honest. But, dancing was the only thing she loved to do in her free time. It just made her feel good AND helped her relax when she was stressed with school things. "I'm sure I'll love all of it." She gave him a reassuring smile. The blonde wasn't good at reading other people's emotions but she could tell that he was nervous.. she was too. Taking a sip of her butterbeer, she finally looked up at Evan. The whole situation was just.. new and different. To go on a date with someone she'd always considered a friend was a little weird but?? She kind of wanted to explore the possibility. Besides, now that she was here, it didn't feel weird in any way at all. "No of course not. I -" Loooong pause. "Have you ever dated before?" |
SPOILER!!: Val! Truthfully the only reason Evan knew how to do much of anything outside of studying was having taken up interests based on what his family liked to do. He thought it amazing how Valentina had something she was passionate about, that she did because she loved and it was for herself. "I hope, but I won't feel bad if you don't either!" Meaning, he hoped she wouldn't force herself to eat anything she didn't actually want out of politeness or anything like that. The smile was appreciated though, and he returned it as well. The long pause was noticed and he gave a small chuckle, though he wasn't laughing at her. It was just.. clear this was new in at least different ways for both of them. The question had him flushing a bit, as he shook his head. "Uhh. No. This is my first. I liked someone for a bit but... she had a boyfriend." And he liked him, so that was easy to force himself to back off of. "What about you?" He picked up one of the sets of tongs from the table and offered it to her across the table, so she could grab whatever looked good, before taking a small sip of his water. |
rearranged a bit! SPOILER!!: Evan Val wasn't the type to eat something just out of politeness - if she didn't want it, she would just say it but honestly?? everything on the table looked great. And the fact that he had spent time making all of it just made her heart feel warm. "Nah, I'm sure I would." She accepted the tongs and grabbed a rice cake for herself. She took a little bite, hoping not to spill any crumbs on her dress - her eyes immediately widening in surprise. "This is so good! I really like it." "Oh! That must have been tough for you." What about her?? Valentina paused for another few moments. "Um.. I have dated someone but we were second years and I just liked the idea of having a boyfriend, you know?? He was nice but it wasn't anything serious." She decided not to mention the crush on henry because it was embarrassing to say the least. |
SPOILER!!: Val! That certainly would have been a relief to him to know. He was very much the type to force a few bites in social situations where it was necessary to do so. The last thing he'd want to do was offend someone. When she grabbed a rice cake and tried a bite, he couldn't help but grin at her reaction to it, very pleased. "I'm glad you do! It's one of my favorites." He grabbed a different set of tongs, using it to dish himself a pork bun as well before taking a bite. Chewing his bite gave him time to think, had it been tough? He gave his head a small shake, "It wasn't actually too bad. She's my friend and I was mainly just glad she was happy." A crush he could get over, even if it had taken longer than he would have liked. "That makes sense. Were you and he able to stay friends after you decided to not date?" He took another small bite of his food, only then realizing that he'd made the assumption they had been friends to begin with. |
SPOILER!!: Evan "Yeah?" Valentina looked at him curiously as she took another bite. She swallowed before speaking again, a little smile on her face. "Yeah? What else do you like?" She actually wanted to know more about him. That's what dating is about, right? "You took it really well. It must have been a little frustrating to have a crush on someone who was with someone else." She considered his question for a moment, setting her rice cake down to adjust her hair. Ugh. How did people even like having their hair up?? Anyway. "Um... yeah, we are still friends. It's Benjee. You know him, yeah? He's ridiculously tall." |
