Claudine inwardly winced. She knew her family would be proud of her answer. Anyone’s obsession with blood status had her being disgusted with their way of thinking. Whatever. She’d do what she had to do to survive and keep the handful of persons here at Hogwarts she cared about safe. The girl couldn’t help but shudder at Rosier’s mention of green light. No one needed to expound on what that meant. The Snakette tried to focus on today’s topic instead. It was quite clear they’d have to be practicing on the now clothed dummies. At the sudden change of surroundings, she blinked rapidly. Her head turned this way and that, taking it all in. Despite the situation, Claudine was somewhat amused at how the dummies just slid themselves into the new surrounding. The clothing made them fight right in. Sort of. She gave Heath an encouraging look before moving to a dummy at a food stall. With as much concentration as she could muster, she pointed her wand at the dummy she had chosen. “Bombarda,’’ came her firm, commanding tone while at the same time her wand traced out the movement Rosier had demonstrated. |
Don't you dare praise that. Don't you dare praise him! You immoral sanctimoniousness piece of Wizard Trash! The only reason he gave that answer was because of his pure dislike of just one individual Muggle. He tucked his hands into his robes pockets and tightened his fists together. But on the outside he nodded to Rosier curtly. He was relieved when Ashley was released, though still mad at her too. Then they were suddenly somewhere else. They were out of the castle! What was going on!? Wait the dummies got all dressed up? Damn, they weren't really out were they?! Moose listened carefully to the instructions and turned his attention to the Dummies. Of course Rosier was the real dummy. They were supposed to imagine these as Muggles, but Moose would instead look at them as Headmaster Rosier. Yes even the smaller looking ones in carriages. Those were just tiny immobile Rosiers. He found one dummy with a carriage, and with a triangular motion with his wand and the intent to make the bigger Rosier dummy BLOW UP, Moose spoke "Bombarda!" and sent a spell right it's way, though it was off target by just a bit! |
Tadhg hated his answer anyways, he really didn't care if he gotten it right or if he didn't, he just didn't want to get hurt for not answering. All of these right answers were all wrong and nonsense, not all muggles were bad. If he wasn't afraid of getting hurt, he would walk straight out. He definitely didn't want to come back to lessons after this one, nope nope. Seeing Ash released he let out a small sigh in relief, but there was hate in his blue eyes. He was glad that she was okay, although a wand pointed to your throat and your hair pulled definitely wasn't okay, but she wasn't tortured or anything. Tadhg was lucky himself he wasn't tortured, but he was speaking the truth. He wished they would get overthrown or so, but he didn't see it happening. They were doing what?! Did he hear him right, they were doing Bombaarda on dummies? Looking at the dummies he swallowed hard at some of them, some of them were kids and a mother with a baby. Okay... this was just cruel and mean, but what choice did he have? Looking at Curtis he gave him a nod in thanks, that was one he didn't have to do. Getting his hand out of his Common Green Welsh holster he looked at the man dummy. With all the anger inside him, he looked at the dummy doing the triangular motion. " Bombarda!" As the dummy exploded he felt like he was going to be sick. Taking a quick glance at Dahlia |
Funny he should say what?? What was going to happen to the muggle technology ... did the Minister of Magic know what was happening at Hogwarts?? Or in the world ... all communication was shut down within Hogwarts (at least he thought so), how would they get word out that there was a hostile take over happening.... But, Blake would have to concentrate on that later, right now he needed to focus on this spell. Drawing his wand he took a look around to make sure he saw the wand movement right. Taking his position in front of one of the dummies he took his stance. Moving his wand in the triangular way Blake stated with as much confidence he could muster. "Bombarda!" At least he didn't stutter and his voice wasn't even shaky. |
Valencia knew this was fake and knew they weren't real, but she had a really bad feeling that this was meant to be some sort of sick exercise based on future plans. She grabbed some protective glasses from her bag and placed them over her eyes. Safety first, right? There were things blowing up all around her. That, and she wanted her eyes at least a little bit hidden, in case the water she felt was too betraying. She was angry and disgusted. "Bombarda." she said in a forced even tone, a triangle movement and her eyes focused on an umbrella. She already knew the spell fairly well so she had no doubt it would work and cause artificial dummy panic that she would have to do her best not to internalize. |
Avalon tried to tune out as the rest of her classmates gave their answers. It was difficult to hear such awful things. And Rosier was enjoying hearing it. The whole thing was was......sick. The scene that Rosier had created was obviously a Muggle setting. And he really just wanted them to blow it up. Her stomach twisted at the fleeting thought that this was perhaps some part of a larger plan. She tried to remind herself that they were only dummies. For now, at least. The Ravenclaw raised her wand, pointing it somewhat confidently at a dummy sitting a table. If these dummies were supposed to be like Muggles, they wouldn't put up much of a fight, right? Just a dummy. Just a dummy. She reminded herself of that as she traced the triangle motion and exclaimed, "Bombarda!" |
"Thank you, sir," Nem replied oh-so-courteously. True, Rosier'd never called them a delight before, absolute or otherwise. It would be a lie to say that nobody had, but certainly not anyone who knew them all that well. Then again, that was a very short list. The kind that didn't actually require any ink. On the topic of thestrals, was he going to... no? Alright, fine, no thestrals today. Bombarda was all well and good, straightforward stuff and a spell Nem already had down pat (though they tended to prefer more subtle stuff, with just a dash of inferno, and some of the recent, more interesting magic they'd learnt from the Big Man) but potentially problematic. Not to be paranoid or anything, but if some of these kids failed to engage their brains enough to see that Nem's answers could be part of a survival strategy, they might have made a couple of enemies already. Even if it wasn't Bombarda (these kids were so soft), it could be something else. Some other spell, or even a punch, or whatever. But Nem wasn't going to dwell on that. They'd stay on guard, sure, they had their wand drawn for the activity already, they could take a punch and, as to the rest, they'd cross that bridge when they came to it. Right now no bridges. Just a promenade. When they were given the go-ahead, Nem took a little wander to find a target, and to get away from the main body of the group. It didn't take long to find a good set-up - a table, with a cluster of seated dummies. That would do. "Bombarda." Nem cast, voice assertive and decisive, aiming directly into the centre of their midst for maximum efficiency. They'd considered attempting a non-verbal - had been practicing that kind of thing - but initially deemed it more appropriate to do what they knew would work, rather than gamble on something that might have a very public lacklustre result. Not that anything Nem did was at risk of not going exactly as they wanted it to. Obviously. |
Emm's mouth was back! Aries' mouth was back! KIZZY'S MOUTH WAS BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She wanted to cheer in celebration, but instead Kinsay Cassandra James remained absolutely silent. It helped that they were transported somewhere else without a board that had her name on it. The longer she had to look at it, the more horrible she felt. And though BOMBARDA was quite possibly one of the coolest spells ever, she wasn't quite sure she liked the implications of this activity. And... the odds that one of her spells would actually work were.... pretty low. Kiz already felt an onset of worry about it. In other words, she missed Stark School. Feeling a little deflated, Kizzy moved towards one of the dummies sat at a table. Slowly she raised her wand and moved it in the shape of a triangle, "Bombarda!" ......... Nothing. Great. "Bombarda!" .______. |
wooo catching up! This was bad, a nightmare even. Was he still sleeping? Morgan sure wished that he was, or that he even overslept and missed class altogether. First, there was the searing pain across his forehead shortly after he walked in, causing him to cry out in surprise, and pain of course, and cover his head with his hand. He was unpleasantly confused at first, until he saw other students with seared words across their foreheads - LIAR. And then he was even more confused. Was that on his head too? A question that he had verbally expressed to no one and everyone at the same time. What had he lied about?? Nothing that he could remember recently, at least not intentionally. And then people were losing their mouths (he didn't even know that was a thing that was possible!) and Kale! Morgan was horrified to witness a real life crucio on his mate, never mind him missing the one done on the second year at the feast. He had been a little too distracted at the time. Stunned and horrified, but what could he do really? Especially when that second year had a wand to her throat, the headmaster forcing them in line with the threats of student deaths. Any other day, Morgan would be so pumped to practice the exploding spell in class. This wasn't exactly a normal day though, was it? He was a little shaken over the first half of class, and he didn't want to think of how it could get worse, but.... okay it was still the explosion spell and he wanted to make things blow up. ......but.... then the dummies were made to look like people. This was kind of gross and off-putting - even if he liked explosions. Morgan tried to put that out of his mind and remember that these were just dummies and not real people. Yeah! Just dummies! He could totally do this! And he did like blowing things up, so this would be totally cool. Sure, sure. Looking towards a particularly large dummy, Morgan whipped his wand into the triangle formation - he'd done this before on different objects - and cast confidently, "Bombarda!" |
Cornelia was a sponge. A fair bit of it of the things that happened and were said during the lesson made sense to her. It only seemed right that people were held accountable for lying, and people having their mouths temporarily removed or being on the receiving end of that one curse for being rude seemed reasonable too. They had been warned. She was glad to be smart enough to listen to that warning and not cause trouble for herself. When it came to the topic of their lesson, it did seem rather unfair to her that they had to hide their magic when Muggles got to roam around freely in the open. Wizards and witches in the past were even killed because they were magical, which was a fact that did not sit well with the first year. But then there were certain things that her eleven year old mind couldn't wrap around. The only solution to the Muggle problem they were facing, according to the headmaster, was killing them all. That was ... a lot to take in. Nevertheless, his message was clear as crystal. As for her stance on that, well, the whole idea of killing someone made her feel a bit uneasy. She was relieved though when the lesson shifted from discussion to practising magic. The blonde-haired girl was excited to finally put her wand to use. She was in awe when the room seemed to take them to another place. Even the moving dummies were impressive. Then it hit her. They had to blow the dummies up, dummies that looked real. If they were attacking her and wanted to harm her, she very likely would have jumped into this activity without hesitation to defend herself. This scenario, however, was different. "Bombarda!" she shouted, moving her wand in a triangular motion like Headmaster Rosier had done. Nothing happened. She casted again. Nothing. Not even a spark. At this point, the first year was getting frustrated. "Bombarda!" she shouted again, more forcefully. This time a spark came from her wand, but that was all. She stood there, her face slowly but surely turning red. She was making a fool of herself, which angered her. She wanted to succeed, even if it meant blowing up something so lifelike. Pull yourself together, Cornelia. They're just dummies They aren't real people. Harnessing her anger and focusing it, she pointed her wand at an adult-sized dummy that was carrying a smaller dummy. She could feel something bubbling within her. "BOMBARDA!" |
'a spot for you inside the alliance.' Bella couldn’t help it, her eyes widened with shock and dread, but she quickly hid it behind a neutral look as the headmaster's words of impressed pleasure fully reached her ears. She winced inwardly feeling sick to her stomach for answering the way she had had about pure bloodlines and burnings. She didn’t want to be a part of his alliance. She had only said what she had said to be smart like Aboli had told them to do. Bella did not want to attract the headmaster’s wrath so she had gone against everything her parents had taught her and that made her feel so full of shame and guilt. She stole a sideways glance in Apollo's direction hoping he’d understand from her eyes mouthed word that she was sorry and that she didn’t mean what she had said at all. What else could she do to survive and keep the ones she cared about here safe? Bella couldn’t even muster up a surprised gasp as the dummies took steps forward from their positions near the walls dressed like muggles in front of them. 'They are still just dummies.' She repeated silently to herself as she watched with eagle sharp concentration as Headmaster horrible demonstrated the spell they're going to be practicing today. It seemed easy enough, but Bella hadn’t pictured herself casting her first spell under the threat of pain. Licking her lips nervously, she practiced the incantation over 10 times in her head before she went over to the wand movement in equal numbers. Pulling her wand out Bella aimed it one of the dummies and uttered with as much confidence she could muster into the spell "Bombarda!" as she at the same time traced the wand movement into the air like Headmaster Rosier had shown them. |
Dummies and things were exploding around her and it was horrible. It all felt to real. Maybe if they hadn't been moving around or the little child sized and baby dummies weren't there. She knew she had to do this though, she had to not only get the spell right but she had to make it work. Make it work and effectively take down some of the dummies. This was something she had to do. There was no trying right now. It was either succeed or pay the consequences and that wasn't anything she wanted to experience. Dahlia glanced spotted Tadhg not to far from her and walked over to stand beside him. "I'm not doing so well," she admitted quietly to him. "Let's work together? Twice the power, twice the destruction, right?" It hurt her to say those words but what could she do? Maybe working side-by-side with him would help keep her focus. This wasn't real... it was all fake... only practice dummies... not real... not... REAL! |

SPOILER!!: Connolly The confidence added extra oomph to the spell, making it extra impressive when it hit. That dummy's scream was pretty impressive, too, huh? SPOILER!!: Donovan The first attempt she had made sent the dummy running and screaming. Thankfully, she had not given pursuit. And just like that, there was panic on the promenade. Dummies ran in all directions. Some grabbed the smaller dummies as they ran. Lots of panic. Lots of screaming. Chaos. |
Ash felt sick to her stomach. But these weren't real people. Better a dead dummy then a dead Ashley. They weren't real. And Ash was good at telling the difference. She blew up some more dummies. This one looked like her too, down to the clothes. She blew it up. She also blew up part of a stall with it. But the dummy WAS NOT REAL. That made it okay, right? "Bombarda. Bombarda. Bombarda." She knew she could do it. Ash was good with magic. And she hated that. And this was horrible. But it was fake. And it would be over soon. I'm sorry, brother. I'm sorry, best friend. I'm sorry, Ashley Fox. And sorry to my best friend again. Ash blocked out the screaming. |
Whew!! It blew up and Blake flinched just slightly as the dust began to settle. At least he had managed to blow up one! That was the professor's request right? To have managed to blow up at least one? So he had reached his minimum, but a sort of feared what would happen if he didn't at least try again. This hostile take over was extremely hostile ... and Blake wasn't sure where he actually wanted to stand ... not really against this cult leader, but certainly not with him either. Taking his stance in from of another dummy and watching the wand movement one more time. Blake said "Bombarda" with a straight face again and the proper triangular wand movement .. no reason it shouldn't work again right? |

It'srealit'sarealpersonyoujustblewoffarealperson's armQuinnwhathaveyoudoneyoumonsteryoupieceofscum— Quinn shook his head, gripping his wand tightly to his chest. For the second time this lesson, tears sprang to his eyes. "I c-can't...I can't do this...please don't make me..." |
So, what was that? Four in one? Not bad. The table helped; it was unlikely the dummies could extricate themselves from it with any ease. Even if they could, they wouldn't have got very far. Speaking of, it was pandemonium on the promenade, but that was fine. There was no single direction the dummies were collectively running to, so Nem simply picked out the first cluster that caught their eye as they turned from the smouldering wreckage of the table and it's occupants, and pursued at a stride. Not for long, though. Raising their wand, Nem sent a simple trip jinx at the dummy-couple which had just fled from a nearby food vendor, before they could get very far. A few more steps closer to get a more certain aim, and- Again, with feeling. "Bombarda." |
They were screaming. Screaming. No one had said there would be screaming. Bernie winced, biting her lip to stop its wibbling. Once the lip started to tremble, then her eyes might well up, and by then it would just be a lost cause. She didn't, she COULDN'T cry in this class. The only class she'd ever cried in (that she could recall) was Muggle Studies. With Schmoe. There was no Schmoe here, but Bernie hesitated now as the Muggles ran away. What would Schmoey say if he saw her going after members of her own kind?! People like her mum, her sister, her brother, her grandmother... She trailed after one of them, a kid of seven or eight, about the size of her annoying little sister. They're just dummies, she reminded herself. THEY'RE NOT REAL. Bernie steeled herself as the kid dodged to the side to hide behind a trash bin. Fine. She could blow it (and him up). Might take two blasts, who knew. She again concentrated, pretending it was the STUPID NEW HEADMASTER hiding there instead of a... a dummy. "BOMBARDA," Bernie cast between gritted teeth, aiming for the trash can and, in essence, the dummy's head. |
Talk about the dummies really reacting in terror. Of course she should have realised that would have happened. Claudine struggled to keep in mind that these weren’t actual humans and that the dummies would feel nothing. It was pure chaos all around though, with the screams and the wailing and whatever else. On the bright side, her spell had worked on the very first go. Excellent. She’d give the spell another shot. There was a female dummy who caught her eyes next. “Bombarda,’’ Claudine tried again with calm and command. That wand movement? It was repeated to precision as before. |
Her spell actually WORKED!? It must have been the first time in the history of EVER that one of her spells had actually worked. Kinsay wanted to cry out and CHEER! Except. She couldn't proper celebrate because as soon as her spell had hit and blown the dummy into chunks, everyone started screaming in terror. And then her whole heart sank. And her lip wibbled. And that's when the implications of this activity really sunk in. Kinsay hated this class. And this activity. And Mr. Rosier. She gripped her wand a little tighter, looking around hopelessly. Everything was terrible and everything was happening so much. She felt overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with the screaming and overwhelmed with the feelings and overwhelmed with the terror. Taking a deep breath, Kiz moved to rub her eyes before following behind another family. "I'm sorry," she whispered. Before trying another "Bombarda," without any real oomph. |
Under normal circumstances, Emmerson would be ALL for explosions. They were amazing and her mama did them often. But. Um. Was this legal? Emm looked over at Kizzy, then over at Phoebe. She knew they weren't real people but ...uh....um....this all turned to chaos real fast and the little Gryffindor girl couldn't help but imagine being back in Madrid on a warm afternoon, shopping for trinkets and dresses....then having someone show up to blow it all up. ... Wait. That's...that's what this was...wasn't it? The truth slowly dawned on her and it made her stomach twist a little. Could she go now? With all the dummies running around now, no way she'd hit anything. Except....the Headmaster made it clear you needed AT LEAST ONE. Dangit, she waited too long. They'd been sitting still before. She'd never get one now. Panicked, Emm lifted her wand, swinging it in all directions. When she found someone stagger and fall beneath the stampeding dummies, she squeezed her eyes shut and drew the triangle. "Bombarda!" Please don't scream, please don't scream, please don't scream. Just...just die quietly please. Oh Merlin. |
Delilah had the incantation and wand movement down pat, and she was...well, she guessed she was ready to try the spell. Something still didn't sit right with her. She turned around just in time to see mothers, fathers, and children being blown to bits. Well, they were actually the dummies, but she knew what the professor had been thinking when he'd set this up. Something sparked in her memories, and she was taken back a few years ago. There was a faint smile of fire...and then flames. She was coughing, and her father was carrying her into their yard. She was standing all alone in the yard while seconds turned into minutes. Her parents never, ever came back out to get her. A few tears sprang to her eyes, and she dropped her wand by her side. "I can't do it," she whispered to herself. She couldn't kill somebody else's parents when her own parents had been killed, too. |
Fine. She'd try again. Phoebe wasn't going to let a little failure get in her way. Or fear. Or intimidation. Maybe someday she'd get to use this spell on one of these idiots. Boom, right in the fascism. "Bombarda," Phoebe pointed her wand at another dummy, another small one that she could imagine was a very dangerous dragon... only far away, and she drew the triangle in the air. And BOOM goes the very far away dragon. |
Mamie was pleased with the results of her charm for a split second--she did hit her target, no more dummy by the pretzel stand. But then there was screaming, and she turned around and...all the other dummies were running around and screaming and yelling. Her eyes widened. She hadn't known these dummies could vocalize. The whole thing felt a little too real. Feeling panicked, Mamie gripped her wand more tightly and held onto the nearby vendor cart for a moment. Trying to stay calm. One more dummy...Bazillion pieces. She just had to remember...Dummies were not people. Taking another deep breath, she raised her wand again. She spotted a smaller dummy that...well, it had gotten left behind, or its bigger dummy companion was already in smithereens. Not real. It's just...a very creepy doll. She just had to destroy a creepy doll. Making a careful equilateral triangle in its direction, she cast the spell again, aiming right at its head. "Bombarda!" No more head. Mamie quickly looked away. In the midst of the chaos, she caught sight of a first year [Delilah] with her wand down, who looked like she'd given up. Mamie didn't want to find out what Rosier would do if any of them failed to complete the whole assignment. She dodged a few running dummies and fellow students to reach the girl and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, it's okay," she reassured. "They-they're not really alive." She glanced around at the uncomfortably realistic dummies. Maybe helping someone else would make this easier for her, too. "Say, why don't you hold my hand, and we'll practice together?" Mamie offered her hand and raised her wand, watching the girl a bit to see if she would follow her lead. |
There were dummies screaming left and right, and it was honestly, truly, too real for Delilah. There was a smaller dummy that looked to be all alone, and it reminded Delilah of standing all alone in her yard waiting for her parents that never did come out of a burning house. Maybe she just wasn't thinking correctly. Maybe she was just being driven by fear and the need to fight for survival. Whatever it was, it was causing her to want to run to the child dummy, grab it by the hand, and run it away to safety. Just as she started to do that, though, the head of the dummy was blown away, and she skidded to a stop. It had been enough to bring her back to her senses, and she reminded herself that this was really just a classroom, and these people were really just dummies. it startled her a little when a hand was placed on her shoulder, but she relaxed when she realized it was a girl about her age. "I know. I know," she said, trying to breath and relax. Delilah took the girl's hand and allowed her to be the guide. She was sure she could pull of the spell when the time came around, but having somebody with her right now was just what she needed. She raised her wand toward an adult dummy, and instead of thinking of it as a helpless man or woman, she allowed herself to become angry again at the house fire. She felt a resentment bubble up inside of her. "Bombarda!" she yelled out, and she made a triangular motion with her wand. The spell shot toward the man, and Delilah winced as she became aware that the spell did, in fact, seem to hit him. "Did I...did I do it?" she asked. |
