Polyjuice at the top ^^ He almost hadn't caught the boy's rushed words, but the tail end of them jogged his mind toward the beginning and soon he was leafing through the files again. Kowalski......Kowalski--Ah! Another for Gryffindor then. Very good. Hopefully none of these students had any actual interest in quidditch or their team would be doomed. No. These kids were obviously drifters. They didn't care about anything. That had to be the case when pulling such a bold and il-organized prank. They clearly felt they had nothing to lose. "Looks like another one for you, Wayland." Which, oh, currently meant none for Noble afterall but he'd wait to verify that. "I'll tell you what, Kowalski, that was some good timing. If you hadn't said anything, and none of them had either, oh Merlin, even I don't wanna think about all the extra measures I'd have to put in for the added deceit. Don't you feel lighter knowing at some point you'll be out of house arrest and back with your peers?" Freeing, wasn't it? Ah and the potion was beginning to fade. Malachi calmly watched Spinnet retake her form, truly not surprised she was who she said she was. There was a matter to be addressed, however. "Spinnet, I have no doubt you know Montemorency has transferred. Dare I ask why you'd brought him up earlier in this moment of clarification while we're all telling the truth." Anything said in the next few seconds, he'd let slide. Any information after the fact would not be treated quite so well. He would also wait for the others to begin fully unchanging before releasing Tree Boy. Juuuust in case. ___________________________________________ It was a busy afternoon. The man had received a few letters in response to ones he'd written and was currently going through them to see how best the current school situation could be handled. As far as he was concerned, these students were either incredibly devoted to ensuring he had a rough year, or something a bit more problematic was happening and the latter tended to spiral suddenly and without warning. Best address it before it got to that. Malachi had only just broken the seal from the latest envelope when he got word of a student waiting down by the statues. It was with every bit of reluctance that the man lowered the parchment and made for the door. Typically, having a student wait a few minutes didn't bother him, but of late, the strangest and most inconvenient things were happening around the castle and it put a bit more urgency--and dread--in his step. The Headmaster took a breath as the stairs lowered him and he found himself standing before the Hufflepuff Prefect. "Yes?" The man was almost afraid to find out what it was this time. |

"What have you done to try stopping it?" He asked, turning to head in that direction. The man assumed she hadn't seen the disaster and just left it to flood the corridor but at the same time he wouldn't expect too much because, "There are at least 4 offices between the Prefect Bathroom and mine. I'll assume you went and alerted another Professor first, yes?" As they were all capable and closer and would have gotten to the disaster sooner than he ever would have. Her coming to his office was wasted time that could have been spent sorting the issue. |
Quote:
She unpinned her Prefect's badge and handed it over to the Headmaster. "I think I need to step down as Prefect. I can concentrate on my schooling. I'm sorry to let you and the school down. Is it okay if I don't go to the Prefect's bathroom with you?" |
Quote:
The man turned to ask for a bit more elaboration. That's when he saw the badge being offered to him. Malachi's brows rose as a puzzled expression crept across his face. A moment later, it was clarified. Ah. That's what was happening here. Without protest, the man reached forward and took the badge, but rather than pocket it, it turned it over in his hands a few times. Thoughtful."Are you sure about this?" He asked calmly. Teenagers did tend to have many moods depending on the day. "Won't be able to come back to my office tomorrow and ask to have it returned to you. I understand your decision and I think we may need to have you speak to someone about it all. Before I pocket this, I just want to be sure it's what you really want." |

"I'd start by talking to the Healer. She can assess you, see if this is something that will need to be turned over to St. Mungo's." There was currently a bathroom flooding and possibly a corridor but this was arguably much more important. As Headmaster, he was charged with the welfare of these students, and if one wasn't doing so well, that became his concern. Swann would need to be at her best to focus on her studies afterall. "We will need to bring your parents in at some point, but let's focus on one thing at a time. For now, it's fine that you don't accompany me to the bathroom." She was no longer allowed in there anyway. "Why don't you stop by the Hospital Wing and have a word with Professor Adara? Might be good to get started on it. Don't need anything bottled up." |
Quote:
With that, Daisy began to head to the Hospital Wing but she stopped and turned back to face the Headmaster. "Could you inform Professor Noble? I can't face him right now. Thanks for everything, sir." |
Quote:
With the various exams they already had to stress about, these kids needed a break wherever they could get it. That sorted, he finally turned and made his way to the bathroom praying it wouldn't be a disaster zone when he got there. |
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight so now that everything was taken care of, she’d just be on her way now, yeah? Right? Wrong. Couldn’t they just forget about the Tayo thing? Let bygones be bygones! It’s not like any of this mattered anymore anyway. They were pretty much done here. They’d do their time in detention, give up Quidditch, and the rest of their social life. Game over, man. Why bring up the past? “…. the adrenaline?” Look did she regret trying to throw him under the bus? Absolutely not. But she had said his name in a moment of panic and now that she had more time to think it over… Nah, she would’ve still tried it. Probably could’ve gotten away with it too if she did a more convincing job. She was sure of it. Seeing Jo get a free pass for telling the truth lured the Gryffindor into a calm. Might as well tell him now, in hopes that it wouldn’t get any worse. “It was all my idea, Théo had nothing to do with it.” Well, obviously Headmaster Trent knew that last bit. And he probably already knew the first bit too. But, now it was out in the open. They’d be telling the whole school about this, right? Because Zoryn wasn’t about to walk away with detention and none of the glory. |
polyjuice TL Who even knew what was happening anymore? Not Max. The real Max Carden just wanted to leave. Right now. Why was he even still here? Trent had the names of all the culprits. And so did he. Spinnet. Chosen. Roberts. Kowalski. He narrowed his eyes at the bunch of body snatching Gryffindors, watching as the potion started wearing off. Maybe it was a good thing he was still here, actually. At least this way he could confirm that they were all back to their normal selves and there weren't any other sneaky Max Cardens lurking about. Ugh. "Weirdos." Totally hadn't meant to say that out loud, but hey, it was TRUE. |
Maxie had learned through a lot of whispering and pointing that somehow or another his name had come up in the big Quidditch incident. He hadn't been able to get a proper answer as to why or how and he didn't know what his feet had been thinking but post Christmas break Maxie was standing in front of two very strict and noisy gargoyles wihtout any idea how to get pass them. Or why he was even trying. Except Headmaster Trent seemed really nice and young and kinda reminded him of Damien and he really just wanted to talk and clear the air before he was casted as a bad guy. BECAUSE HE WASN'T ANYWHERE NEAR BAD, AND PLEASE, PLEASE NO ONE TAKE QUIDDITCH FROM HIM. |
Gonna wrap it (assuming everyone's is wearing off because same potion and all) Adrenaline? "I'll believe it." Just like he fully believed this was her idea. "Thank you for your honesty." What he didn't understand was why anyone would follow the "bright idea" of someone who--again--thought SHOES were the biggest danger in a swamp. Honestly. Children. "I want you all to start making better choices." He said calmly, watching the others returning to form as well. The faces were familiar, even if he didn't yet know all their names--er...well he did NOW, but y'know. "I mean it. Second offenses from any of you won't go so well because I'm personally warning you right now. There are ways to have fun that don't break school rules. I suggest the energy and effort you lot put into this plan be put into finding out those ways." He turned his attention to the Heads of Houses again. "We have here: Zoryn Spinnet, Faith Chosen, Josef Kowalski, Tessa Roberts, Charlie Smedley--and oh, the real Maxton Carden. If we can verify that these are all correct, I'd like you to escort them to their common rooms and ensure they stay there. I'll give you the full briefing on their impending situation before the day's out." As for Tree Boy. "Carden, I dunno what you did to these students, but I suggest you get better at making friends or better at guarding your DNA. In all seriousness though, this shouldn't have happened and I am sorry it did." They lot of them owed him an apology. "You're free to go, until the Prefect meeting I intend to call unless you care to help escort your schoolmates back to their common rooms." His choice though. One last look at the wayward children. "He's not wrong. It was weird. You invaded his body. Don't be weird creepers in society." But they were free to go be escorted to start their punishment. He left them now to their Heads of Houses. __________________________________________ It was enough to fill him with dread. Back from the holidays and the student visits were already pouring in. It felt like he'd hardly gotten a chance to really relax with all his worrying about the castle and now someone was likely downstairs to bring his worry to the forefront again. What could've gone wrong this time?? They hadn't been back THAT long. The Headmaster took a moment to mentally prepare himself before rising from his desk and heading down the stairs to see who it might be. Oh. A first year this time. "What can I do for you, Anderson-Belfort?" Could he put a disclaimer that if it was another emergency he was still on vacation? Nah, nah he was back at work and these situations could not be avoided. |
Polyjuice TL Kalen stood there, his face rather impassive as he looked at everyone and then back at Max, who seemed to be protesting that he didn’t do anything. He looked around as the people were named and he let out an inward sigh of relief as it wasn’t any of his Slytherins though.. he couldn’t help but feel rather sorry for Tristan, the man sure had his hands full with the Gryffindors this term. He didn’t envy that position at all. Thankfully his students were for the most part, well behaved. Though Kalen was going to explain to Max how to not have his hair stolen. Kalen motioned to Max as they were excused. “Come Mr. Carden, let’s head down to the common room.” He wasn’t in trouble, but he was best he had an escort for now. |
Was he scowling behind his mug of coffee? Quite possibly. Noble was unimpressed at being called here in his break time for something that all of his students should know better about. Clearly they needed a refresher; polyjuice potion was not something to be toyed with, and if the real Max had nothing to do with this, Noble felt for him. ...and as the names were announced, and the students began reverting to their usual selves, Noble found himself unsurprised...and perhaps a little disappointed. He didn't believe any of this lousy lot would even have the slightly redeeming quality of brewing the potions themselves. Zoryn was, frankly, still a liability in class, despite intensive remedial classes...and he'd learnt early on in his Hogwarts career that Kowalskis spelt trouble. This youngest one was no different, and yes, despite their similarities, he could tell the difference between Józef and first year Hufflepuff Max. He kept his stern gaze on the miscreants as the Headmaster dealt with the situation. Sure sounded like the Gryffindor quidditch team were off to an unfortunate start to the season, and as they were dismissed, Noble looked to Wayland. This lot were definitely testing their new Head of House. "Want some company escorting this lot back to the Fat Lady?" |
Tristan looked around the room with a very disappointed demeanor. He couldn't say he was surprised that it was all Zoryn's idea. Why the rest of the Gryffindor's went along with it, he had no idea. But you better believe they would be getting a talking to in the common room. He was especially disappointed in Josef for lying about who he was. At least he came clean....eventually. Arms folded against his chest, he stared down each and every Gryffindor in the room. When Noble asked if he wanted help escorting the Gryffindors to their common room, he gave him a small smile and replied, "Thank you, Professor Noble. I would greatly appreciate an extra set of eyes seeing as I can't trust my students to behave." He looked specifically at Zoryn when he said that. "Gryffindors, follow me back to the common room, please." Oh, they were in for an earful when they got back to the tower. "Professor Noble if you wouldn't mind taking up the rear of the group to make sure they don't make a run for it, that would be wonderful." Tristan gave the older man a kind smile before turning towards the door. |

[/QUOTE] The Headmaster was much taller close up (which was saying something as Maxie himself was rather tall for 12), but his face didn't make.. sense?? Kinda?? it was a nice face, a kind face on an imposing stature. Maxie wanted very much to wriggle under the Headmaster's gaze but did his very best not to. "Er.. well.. " He'd rehearsed this all morning. "Well.." Fists? Clenched. Eye? Twitchy. Nerves? Wrecked. |

Malachi stared at the boy at the boy. Was he.....is this what a stroke looked like? Oh Merlin maybe he needed to call someone! He wasn't equipped for sudden and severe illnesses. He could DIE. Circe. Why'd he have to come here to do this??????? Oh man, ooohhh man. "Anderson-Belfort? Yo. Kid? Kid? Out with it. I can't fix the problem til you say it. How many fingers am I holding up??" He raised all ten, making it as easy for him as possible. Who knew how much brain function he had left. Who knew how much time they were wasting. "Don't you worry, lad, I'll go get the Healer and she'll make you right as rain. Don't move too much, don't breathe too much. I've got this under control." Uuuhhh, Healer, Healer....uhhh...Hospital Wing. Third Floor yes yes, he turned to head that way. |
Chloe reached the Headmaster's office well ahead of the man in question, and she settled herself near one of the gargoyles to wait. The fur tugged as she sat, and Chloe shifted uncomfortably to pull it loose. Fur was a burden she wouldn't wish on anyone, and if the rash had disappeared when the fur grew, she'd still find it annoying. Having both, though... well, Chloe had never been more uncomfortable in her life. She sang quietly to herself and chewed a hole in her sleeve. |
Quote:
Then the Head Girl stopped and he stopped. He wasn't sure if she noticed he was here with her still and she probably didn't. He heard her singing to herself. It was a nice voice. Mark wanted to speak up and say something. He didn't want to turn out like she was right now. If his Mother found out he was in this sort of predicament she would want to pull him from Hogwarts. If she found out a little creature was eating everything and everyone he was gone for sure. He didn't want to go home. |
*POP* Just as Mister Master Headmaster had asked of Toddles, Toddles popped into the office still VERY distraught and VERY cross. Alone in Mister Master Headmaster's office probably was an oversight by the man, but Toddles was curious and still DESPERATE to find his Fluffsies. WAS FLUFFSIES IN HERE?! Starting with the desk, Toddles began pulling each open and rummaging through its contents while every now and then tossing something over his shoulder and out of the way. "FLUFFSIES? FLUFFSIES YOU HERE? TODDLES MUSTS FIND YOU FLUFFSIES BEFORE CRAZY MISSUS MISTRESS FINDS YOU!" |
Quote:
Maxie jumped, following after the headmaster with quick, nervous strides. "I-i-I don't n-need the h-healer-" unless he did??? Maxie paled as if on cue. "Am I okay? A-am I okay?" His blue eyes widened to an unhealthy size. He'd been keeping pace before, but now the Hufflepuff was leading the way. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Was he dying? Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. Third floor. |
SPOILER!!: You three! He waited until the last of them had left the courtyard under escort before himself heading back to the castle. It was strange. He'd worried about the sorts of problems he'd have to deal with when he accepted the job. He went back through school records, mapped the threats looking for a pattern. He'd done it all. But, if someone had told him on the day of the feast that throughout the year they would be in danger of fuzzy, pink, palm sized creatures that liked to cuddle--wait no, he'd probably have believed it. That didn't make this any less strange...and apparently dangerous. Definitely dangerous. They had a ghost for a Charms Professor. He would leave nothing to chance. Appearing calmer than he felt, the Headmaster approached the gargoyles and the pair waiting there. Seeing Kettleburn like that did his head in something fierce and by the look of Gunter, he wasn't too far behind...or wouldn't be. "Let's move this along quickly so you can both return to your common room, shall we?" Malachi muttered the password and led them up the stairs but froze dead in his tracks once he got into his office. "Toddles!" What in Merlin's beard...?????? Quote:
Malachi watched the boy take the lead, not sure people in the middle of a stroke were capable of such things. None of this was making sense. He watched the boy move further and further away before drawing him wand to levitate him right back. "Do you think you're okay?" He seemed responsive...if not hyper responsive. "Let's try this again--don't pass out. We won't solve anything if you're unconscious. Did you come here for an emergency? If something else in the castle falling apart? Are you ill?" Don't know why he'd come here if he was. |
Chloe wriggled loose from the tangle of her own fur as she stood, giving a polite nod and flutter of hair to the Headmaster as a sign of respect. She wasn't alone, although poor Mark didn't look nearly as overcome as Chloe. What was this, even? A spell? A disease? A bad case of puberty? She smiled at Mark, but it was impossible to tell through the fur. "Let's go do this, then. Stick with me." They followed the Headmaster up the stairs, only to find a house elf making a mess of the place. "Sir? Should I... stun it?" |
Mark shuffled his feet in place. He was scared, not like standing too close to the Whomping Willow scared but there was some fear in his eyes. A question, no a request to the Headmaster he wasn't sure had any place to ask of him in his current state. Mark's hope that he had reached puberty was dispelled the moment he laid eyes on the Head Girl back in the courtyard. He was a fool for thinking it. He nodded "Right..I will" he responded quickly to |
