Studying her dear friend's face she didn't blame her at all if she yelled, cried or even tossed something around. To hear that her father was going to die was not news that were easy to process for anyone. Waiting Laurel tried to think up something to say but everything she thought off felt wrong or silly so she said nothing.

When Kay retracted her hand Laurel promised wholeheartedly as she locked her hands in her own lap. "I won't tell anyone. I'll keep it secret. I promise. And you know it's okay too if you're not fine with it Kay. It's your father after all. I'm here for you if you ever need anything. I've got a nice shoulder to cry on or we could go down to Haraldurs hut and paint it in rainbow colours for fun." Anything Kay wanted, she'd do. Laurel would hug her too, but Kay was so calm about it, it unnerved her.

Kay nodded. She always knew she could count on Laurel. It was one of the strongest points in their friendship. "Thank you, Laurel. I appreciate that.'' She paused to take a deep breath. She may look calm on the outside but inwardly, there was a fierce storm of emotions raging. "I know you're always there and I thank you for that too.'' Her voice cracked on the last few words and that was when she knew she needed to get out of Laurel's office immediately.

She calmly climbed to her feet. "I need to go. I'd like to have some time on my own.'' Her friend would understand. "I'll speak with you later.'' And with that, she turned and made her way out of her office, tears forming in her eyes. When she reached her office, only them would she permit them to flow freely.

When was a day at Hogwarts ever normal? Never.

A tiny airplane makes its way to Professor Vance's office, all the way from the dungeons to the Divination Tower. Once it had reached its destination, the note bumped onto the door and fell on the floor just outside Professor Vance's office.

If opened, the parchment holds a note in shaky handwriting (and maybe a few blots of tears on it.)
Text Cut: Note
Dear Professor Vance,
I would first like to apologise for my handwriting, and for the ripped parchment that I used for sending this note. But the Slytherin dormitories were broken into earlier today, everything is a mess, and most belongings were broken. Even the dormitory door was broken down. We'd really like for your presence right now, and I'm sorry if this came at an inconvenient time.
Sincerely,
Prefect Fairfield

They were now well into January and classes were in full swing again after the Christmas break. It seemed at least to Laurel that most of the students had benefitted well from a little time off. It had given them a surge of new energy which they could use in class and in their studies for the exams that came closer with each passing month.

Laurel was heading back to her office through the Divination corridor after ending her last class for the day intending to respond to some personal correspondence letter before dinner. Coming to her door she was about to unlock when her eyes caught sight of the note lying on the floor. Reaching down to pick it up, Laurel opened the parchment to read the note inside from Vivian. The more she read the more her eyebrows furrowed in worry and shock: dorms are a mess, belongings broken, door broken down- What was going on? And no sign of a culprit either?

Turning on the spot, Laurel left the Divination Tower with haste, her wand in one hand and the note crumbled in the other any thought of personal correspondence gone from her mind. This was odd? Who'd do this? This certainly didn't sound like something one of her Slytherins would do.
