Middle Cars Do you suffer from train carriage FOMO? If you want to be in the middle of everything, these are the seats for you. No one will wander by without your knowing, and no party at the front OR back of the train will be missed. Just make sure you don't party too hard... there's still London at the end of this journey! |
anyone? :3 Even though Skylar had an eventful summer ahead of her, with quidditch mostly, she actually felt rather indifferent about heading home. On one hand, she had a two month break to rest and recoup her study rituals, but on the other hand, she felt like she was going to really miss her dormmates especially this summer. She would be busy traveling and playing quidditch, so she doubted that would leave much time for seeing her friends or boyfriend. Which made her rather sad to consider; what if their time apart, he finds someone new? Or what if she finds someone new? In the seven or eight months that they had been together, while she wasn't sure she loved him yet, she did deeply care about him. And well, if they split after this summer, well, she shuttered at the thought. He wouldn't. After the way he was so brave in asking you out in front of everyone, surely he wouldn't. Right? She tried to convince herself, staring out the window. |
It was about that time in the ride when Sam needed to stretch her legs. Wandering along the corridor, she glanced through the compartment windows for friends she needed to make last minute plans with. As she did so, she spotted the only other Hogwarts non-Champion to be involved with IMPs, and gave a small frown. She looked on the forlorn side, enough to give Sam pause. She knocked on the window gently, before sliding open the compartment door. "Knut for yeh thoughts?" A little invasive, perhaps, but not unfriendly. |

She smiled at the older girl's question, but wasn't really in the mood for sharing some of those details and prayed the girl hadn't studied or practiced legilmency. If she'd been Harriet or Vivian or Brent, perhaps, but some things were best left simple. "Just ... thinking about summer. And quidditch. And how much I'm going to miss Hogwarts." None of which was entirely untruthful. "How did your OWL exams go?" The girl was a year ahead of her, she was pretty sure. |
Whilst Sam knew about legilimancy, she'd never studied nor thought to practice it, so the Slytherin was safe. She was just a concerned citizen right now. "D'ya mind...?" She gestured at the seat opposite. She could leave if she did, but she wouldn't mind getting to know the younger girl a little better. "D'ya play for a team?" She'd never gotten into quidditch, but she knew several of her cohort played competitively over the summer. "I'll miss the castle too." Since she'd started at Hogwarts, it'd been the one constant in her life. People seemed to come and go; older students, Professors, family...but the castle? It symbolised all the good things in her life. It's where she'd been reunited with Dora, had learnt to read and write, had felt at home for the first time ever... At the question about OWLs she gave a little shrug. "Some good, some bad. Pretty sure I flunked Ancient Runes..." On the whole though, she was pretty positive about her results in July. "Yours are next year, right?" |
Definitely sweet, Skylar decided, as she sort of nodded and shrugged about being accompanied. "Suit yourself." Really, it didn't bother her, assuming the girl wasn't loud or obnoxious, in which it seemed she was going to be neither of those things. Just small meaningless chit-chat. "I'll be playing Beater for England's Under 17 this summer." Something she just found out not all too long ago, which exciting for sure. Or at least it should have been, considering she'd wanted this for awhile now, but now that she'd been offered a spot, she felt rather 'meh' about it. "My brother, you know him, yea? He's a Ravenclaw like you, but a year ahead ... Noah.... he's keeper." And she probably knew that too, but small talk? Funny how a school could be so missable. She smiled at her comment though; "So any plans for the summer?" Some good, some bad? That ... did not sound reassuring about these exams and suddenly, despite the numerous notes and study cards she'd made this year, she felt she was going to have to put even more effort next year. Sam was a Ravenclaw, and if she was saying she flunked one and some were bad, well, all the more reason for Sky to be nervous. "Yes. Next year. And well, I started preparing this past year, but now, I, I don't know that it's done any good because I still feel vastly unprepared." |
It wasn't exactly the most enthusiastic endorsement, but she supposed she'd take it. "Wow, that's great!" Sam congratulated as she slipped into the seat opposite, pulling her feet up onto the chair to get comfortable. "Yeah." She nodded, she knew Noah. Not as well as some of the older boys, but well enough. "Got any matches scheduled, or just lots of training?" The quidditch season was more over the winter, wasn't it? She wasn't sure. She just knew it took up a LOT of Henry's time. "Family vacation to Bali," she replied. "And then hangin' out with friends, mainly. Gonna try teach some street kids to read, too." A new initiative, but one she really hoped could inspire them. Give them something to work with. She knew she'd been one of the lucky ones, getting out of that life. But...oh no! She didn't mean to worry the younger girl. "They're not that bad. You'll be more than prepared if you've already start'd." Seriously. Skylar sounded like she had a huge head start on where Sam had been. "I've never been any good at Ancient Runes, was barely hoping to scrape a pass on me best day." Sure, she was a Ravenclaw, but given she couldn't read English until the age of 12, she was still proud of what she'd achieved. "Just...take some time to enjoy life between cramming, and you'll be fine." |
