Hufflepuff House Table

The house-elves have been hard at work, leaving the Great Hall spotless, the tables set with pristine silverware, and delicious smells floating up from the kitchen. Your stomach might be growling, but it isn't quite time to eat yet.

Hopefully the Headmistress will make her speech before you chew your way through your House table.

SarcasticStrawberry 01-01-2017 05:36 PM

Anyone can grab her.

Was it just hear or did the train ride get shorter every year. This being her fourth train to Hogwarts, it seemed shorter to her. Amazingly with all the cupcakes and cookies, then there was candy too. Kat was still hungry, of course she had saved room for the feast throughout the day.

Katerina was glad to be back though. Heading over toward the Hufflepuff table she realized that she was the first one there, That happened to her during the end of term feast last year. This had never happened to her before. EVER. She was never the first to be anywhere. This was interesting.

As the fourth year took a seat she looked all at the other tables and the staff table to see where her friends in the other houses were if they were already here. The staff table she wanted to see the new faces of Professors and staff too. She was also keeping her eyes out for her cousin Ashlynn to see what house she was going to be sorted into, and what house some of the first years she had met on the train were going to be sorted into too,

And of course the Head Mistress and her speech so they could start eating.

RachieRu 01-01-2017 06:51 PM

Third year.

She was a third year.

She was getting old now. Well 13 wasn't old, but she wasn't a little firstie any more. And she was alone. Well not alone. She had loads of her fellow students around her. But this year she was the only Paton at Hogwarts. It was a big thing. There hadn't been only one Paton at Hogwarts for ages now. But it was happening.

But she was a third year and she was so excited.

She practically skipped down to the Hufflepuff table, and beamed when she spotted Kat. "Heeyy Kitty-Kat" The third year beamed as she saw her friend.

Finding Hattie was ever the more difficult these days. She didn't get to see her at all on the train and Sky had to wonder if she'd found a secluded compartment to snog her boyfriend. Though the third year did NOT want to think about that. They just studied together, right?? Except Skylar was not in denial of her friend's behaviors either...

Before checking in at her own house table, Sky scanned over to the badger table just on the off chance Hattie would have been first off the train. Lucky her.

"There you are. I was looking for you alllll train ride!" Sky pouted, placing a hand on her hip, as if waiting for an explanation. "Hi Kat," Sky said as an offside as she glanced away momentarily to see the older puff there as well.

Everyone come play with us!

Feast! Isa couldn't wait to meet all of the latest additions to her Hufflepuff family! Isa found a seat near the end of the table at the front of the great hall so she would have a good view of the sorting ceremony. Exactly one year ago she had been up there with the sorting hat on her head, and she still remembered what the hat had said to her and when the hat sorted her in Hufflepuff. She would never forget that moment, and if she did it was all documented in her journal so she could always go back and read about it. What houses would her favorite firstie friends be sorted into? For scared of plants adorable favorite firstie's sake, Isa hoped he wouldn't be subjected to the horror of the Hufflepuff common room indoor garden. That was Isa's favorite thing about the common room, but it would probably be awful for someone who was afraid of plants. Hopefully her firsties would be Hufflepufffs with her because Hufflepuff was an amazing house, but the other houses were great too. Isa had heard all about Ravenclaw from Penny, and it sounded like Ravenclaw would be an awesome house for those who were sorted there. All the houses were great, but Isa definitely had a strong bias towards Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff was great and she wanted to show the firsties how great it was!

Isa looked around the table to see who was already there. Puff, puff, snake! More friends from other houses! Yay! "Hi Kat, hi Hattie, hi Sky!" Isa waved at everyone. "How are you doing?" Time to catch up with everyone after not seeing most of them for a while.

Kimi was excited to be back at school for his second year and he was going to enjoy it so much he wondered what was going to happen this term

BriGranger1990 01-01-2017 08:42 PM

Firstie here!! ((sorry it is short))

After being sorted into Hufflepuff, Lizzie made her way over to the Hufflepuff. She pushed her curly red hair back behind her ears, and sat down at an empty spot, and started to look around. Her uncle told her a little bit of what to expect when she finally arrived at Hogwarts, not everything 'After all how boring would it be if you know ALL the secrets before you find them.', her uncle said the summer before, when Liz kept badgering him about facts about the school.

She smiled at all the other students sitting around her, before standing up and exclaimed "HELLO! My name is Elizabeth Simmons, you can call me Lizzie!" The eleven year old smiled, before sitting down, curious of the response she will get.

Lissy Longbottom 01-01-2017 09:35 PM

Anyone can grab him too let's be friendsssss

HUFFLEPUFF! After weeks of reading about the houses and trying to predict where he'd end up, Kane finally knew his fate. He had to say, he was quite proud of himself for being so perceptive of his inner self - his guess had been spot on!

As he got closer and closer to the table, he found himself getting more and more hyper. Here were his new housemates! HOW FUN! These people would be like FAMILY while he was here. HE WANTED TO KNOW EVERYONE! Plopping down RIGHT SMACK DAB in the middle of the table, he grinned at everyone around him. "Hey everyone! I'm Kane Westwood - just transferred here from Ilvermorny. Second year. Can't wait to get to know you all!" he exclaimed.

SO EXCITE!

Kane noticed a familiar face sitting nearby and he smiled at her. "Hey! I saw you at the food cart...I'm Kane," he told her, introducing himself to her. Might as well start with her, since he'd sort of already talked to her a bit...he'd sort of almost talked to EVERYONE in the school really...or at least that was what it felt like.

griffin 01-01-2017 10:54 PM

Hello new friends!

Hey look, more people were arriving! "Hi Kimi!" Isa waved at him. The sorting was happening! This was so exciting! New people would be joining the Hufflepuff family! Isa waited in anticipation, listening attentively for the hat's decision and hoping the hat would call Hufflepuff. Soon enough there were more people joining the Hufflepuff table. She wanted to meet them all!

New Hufflepuff! It was the boy she had seen at the food trolley on the train! Kane. That was a nice name. "Welcome to your new Hufflepuff family!" So he was an Ilvermorny transfer? Interesting. She would have to talk to him about that. He was in her year! Oh, he remembered her from the train! "Hi Kane! My name is Isabel, but you can call me Isa." Nobody called her Isabel, like, ever. Isa smiled at Kane and ran her hand through her long, wavy hair. "So you're new here? I could show you around the school if you're interested." Firstie friends were great and all, but making friends who were in your year was even better.

Brent thought it would be the cool big bro thing to do to go and say hey to Kane. Not that he felt like checking on the little bro. He could really care less about babysitting while away from his parents and in a little more freedom. He just happened to get along with his brother quite nicely and wanted to go hang out. With them being in separate houses and in separate years, who knew when they'd see each other again.

"What's up, lil bro?" he asked, taking a seat next to the second oldest Westwood. "Congrats on Hufflepuff. I'm with the snakes," he said proudly. He had no idea if his brother had even paid attention to his sorting. Knowing Kane, he'd been way too excited and hyper to think about other people.

Lost In Thought 01-02-2017 01:35 AM

Everyone!

So after the last few weeks of research and forgetting specifics about the houses in amongst that, and being questioned about which house he thought he was going to end up in once he went to Hogwarts, he finally had his answer.

Hufflepuff!

Ambrose could not be happier at that outcome. Beaming he'd jogged over to the yellow table, seeing if he could catch a glimpse of Kat, the Hufflepuff who had been the one to tell him a bit more about this house, now HIS house on the train. He'd noticed her and figured he would go up to her, but first he was going to follow suit and give a nice big introduction to everyone else on this table like he heard a few others do as he ran over.

"HI ALL, I'm Ambrose Li," he introduced himself, with a wave, beaming at EVERYONE on the yellow table.

SPOILER!!: Kat

Ilvermony?

The foreign word caused Ambrose's attention to shift over to the second year transfer that had just introduced himself. Ilvermony must be a school then right? If he had transferred from there?

[/B]Just to be sure... "What's Ilvermony?" Ambrose asked, a large smile still on his face though his eyes had a curious glint to them.

"Nice to meet you, by the way," he added on politely, back to his silly grin. "I'm Ambrose Li," just in case the boy hadn't heard his own introduction.

It didn't take long for the others to get to their tables, and Hufflepuff was no exception. Seeing her best friend Hattie skipping her way, Kat squealed. It had been a great summer camp with Hattie there this year. They would have to go again next summer. "Hattie! You're here." Not that she had any doubt that her friend was coming back.

Maybe Hattie had been hiding out in a compartment with her boyfriend. Insert giggles here.

It seem like everyone had gotten boyfriends.... or girlfriends now and Katerina was left out. But whatever, it didn't bother her at all. She seen Skylar heading toward them. "Hi Sky. I found her." Her and Skylar had ran into each other on the train and both were wondering where Hattie was during the train ride,

There was another second year that she had spotted, Kimi, she liked him he was pretty cool for a second year. "Hello Kimi." He got a wave and smile.

The fourth year noticed that one of the first years had just gotten sorted into Hufflepuff. Kat smiled as the new girl just popped up and introduced herself the girl seem to have some spunk, she liked that. "Welcome to Hufflepuff, Lizzie. I'm Katerina Delgado. You can call me Kat,"

Another Hufflepuff just got sorted, and hey look it was Ambrose. Who knew he would end up being a Hufflepuff, too. Maybe it was all that good talking up Hufflepuff and talking about how awesome Hufflepuff was. She beamed as Ambrose sat across from her. Kat wasn't sure if this boy that had just been sorted into Hufflepuff and just plopped in the middle of the table was a first year or not. Whichever though it didn't matter this kid had spunk too. She smiled at him. " Hi Kane welcome to Hufflepuff. I'm Kat." So he was a second year, she wondered where he was from then. Her blue eyed looked up to seen how many more had to been sorted, she needed the speech soon so she could get some food.

The blonde still couldn't find Brady or Miranda. They did get back together over the summer right? She couldn't help but to giggle about things. She noticed that a guy that was sorted into Slytherin had came over and was talking to Kane. She had never seen him before, he must be new too and knew Kane. Katerina thought he might be about her age. Bro? "Are you his brother?" She asked.

Brent's first impression of Hufflepuffs was that they either weren't very friendly, or they didn't take well to people who weren't their own kind. He came to this conclusion when he sat right in the middle of the table, and just about everyone spoke to his brother and not to him. This was fine by Brent in a way, because he was really on here to talk to Kane. It was kind of a bummer, too, though, because it really limited him meeting new people.

This was until some girl spoke up and asked him about being Kane's brother. 'His Brother' was definitely not a title Brent wanted to go by. He kind of had to laugh off the fact that he suddenly felt about an inch tall over here at the Badger table. At least this girl had talked to him. "That I am," he said. "I'm Brent." She looked to be close to his age, too. "I wanted to stop by to say hey to the little bro." He glanced around him then back at the girl. "So I don't know much about Hufflepuffs, but they don't seem to take well to a Slytherin at their table." Or did he just get the wrong impression?

Whoa, Brent had gotten sorted already? Kane had completely missed it - he'd been too excited about his new house! He grinned and clapped him on the back. "Wish I could say I was surprised," he joked at his older brother. He'd definitely pegged him as a snake - MAYBE a Gryffindor. But he'd had a gut feeling he'd be there.

"Thanks! I thought I'd end up here...based off of what I read about all the houses. Seems pretty cool. Matches my hair," he added with a grin.

"Nice to meet you, Isa. And yeah, that would be great! So are you a second year too?" Kane asked her. She had to be, right? If she already knew about the school and wanted to show him around? Kane had yet to meet someone in his year...but he was also a terrible judge of age. This girl could be a year older than him, he couldn't quite tell.

"It's the school in America. I went there last year - I'm from California,"
Kane explained to the boy who had just introduced himself to him. Weird, he thought that everyone would know about that school - but then again, maybe not. Kane knew there were other schools in Europe that was totally in the dark about...

"And it's nice to meet you Ambrose! Excited about your sorting?" he asked with a chuckle, because the kid was just as hyper as HE was...maybe even more so!

SPOILER!!: Griffin, Saz, Brigranger1990 and Carina

Kat was all smiles, She waved as Ashlynn passed on her way to the Ravenclaw table. Ravenclaw? First Romalotti in Ravenclaw. She watched to see what the other firsties she met on the train what house they got. "Hi. Isa. I'm great. How was your summer?" She asked the younger puff with grin.

"I see Welcome to Hufflepuff then, Ambrose I told you that only awesome people got into Hufflepuff." She grinned teasing Slytherins were awesome too.

Ambrose couldn't help the way his grin grew just a little bit at the implied compliment from the older Hufflepuff. Or the fact that he sat up a little straighter at that.

Cause he was now definitely awesome. Kat said so so it must be true, right?

"I'm loving it so far," even though he'd been a Hufflepuff for like two minutes. But EVERYONE was so WELCOMING! He felt like he'd known them forever. He felt like he actually belonged there!

This was the thing about being muggleborn, he clearly had no clue what he was getting himself into.

"Uh... everything," he beamed at the redhead. That was the truth. He had no clue what to expect, which he supposed was going to make everything a lot more exciting!

"Oh," Ambrose said, grinning at the slightly older Hufflepuff. "I haven't had a chance to read anything about the wizarding communities outside of Britain yet. Well, that's not true. I read a bit about the Chinese wizarding community because my parents were curious. I think they wanted to send me back to China..." he rambled slightly towards the end, though the grin crossed his face again at the end of that. "What's Ilvermony like? Do they also have a sorting hat? Wait... do they have houses in Ilvermony? And is it in a castle or a normal house?"

Was he excited about his sorting?

He beamed at the older boy. "I already met Kat so I was super happy that I already knew someone in my house! And then that mind reading hat was awesome! I guess coming in I was just nervous though because none of the books mentioned the fact the sorting was done through the hat. Unless I missed that bit," he looked in thought for a moment before shrugging his shoulders.

He was pretty sure he hadn't missed it.

Her uncle told her a little bit of what to expect when she finally arrived at Hogwarts, not everything 'After all how boring would it be if you know ALL the secrets before you find them.', her uncle said the summer before, when Liz kept badgering him about facts about the school.

As he got closer and closer to the table, he found himself getting more and more hyper. Here were his new housemates! HOW FUN! These people would be like FAMILY while he was here.

Introductions over he quickly sat himself across from the first Hufflepuff that he had met, beaming at her. "Well it turns out I'm a Hufflepuff too!" because he hadn't been able to answer her question as to where he thought he'd go back on the train.

He didn't know the boy that was sitting next to him, so immediately he turned his focus over to him. "Hi, I don't think I've met you yet. I'm Ambrose," he re-introduced himself offering the other boy his hand.

Given that she'd also just given a very loud introduction, Ambrose assumed that she was also a first year so the black haired boy immediately turned to her.

"Hi Lizzie," cause she said that that was fine, didn't she? "Are you also a first year?"

Queue the hopeful grin on the boys face as he regarded her.

Carl was excited about this term.

For one thing, he was a Fourth Year. He was a lot more mature now than he was when he first came to Hogwarts. He was better at performing magic (unless it came to Potions...) and he hoped he could get to learn more advanced topics in his lessons. Also, he was determined to offer his younger buddies more help if they needed it. Welcoming the new Hufflepuffs could be a good start, yeah?

Walking down to the badger house table, Carl grinned as he saw his fellow students already seated. "Hello, everyone!" He said and took a seat.

"Kat... Harriet. How have you been?" He waved when he spotted the two blonde girls. He knew they were pretty good friends, so maybe they had spent the summer together. There was also a Slytherin girl at the table, whom he believed was a close friend of Hattie's. "It's nice seeing you at the badger side! I don't think we've properly talked? I'm Carl."

Glancing around, he quickly saw a younger student who was already welcoming the new people in. "Hey, Isa. Excited for your Second Year?" He asked with a smile. She certainly looked eager for the term to begin. Another Second Year, Kimi, was being rather quiet and Carl waved at him. "Kimi, how was your holiday?" He himself had a happy summer, but he had spent most of his time in the Muggle World, so he was curious about what the others did.

He looked up just in time to hear the new badgers introducing themselves one by one. "Welcome to Hufflepuff - Lizzie, Kane, Ambrose. My name is Carl." He nodded, grinning. "The ceiling is quite awesome. It's enchanted to look like the sky outside, did you know that?" He replied to Kane's comment with a chuckle. Even after years of living in this castle, he often found himself getting surprised by the ceiling.

Since they were sitting in close proximity, the fourteen-year-old could not help but listen to other conversations. The question asked by a guy who looked about his age, Brent, grabbed his attention. "That's not true at all! We Hufflepuffs are really friendly. I think we're just... busy catching up on our summer holidays at the moment." He said, then smiled widely. Sorry for stealing your question, Kat! "Congratulations on Slytherin, by the way. I'm Carl."

Up For Grabs. Come Play with Simon <3

So Simon was to be a Hufflepuff now yeah?

The bespectacled young ...badger... made his way to the House Table and quickly found an Open seat. He claimed it then proceeded to tilt his head down and opened his handbag. Digging into it he pulled out some tissue paper and wiped his nose real fast and blew into the tissue paper. He disposed of the tissue back into his bag in a small little waste bag he keeps in it. Warfield, his Adoptidad had expanded the inside of his man-purse handbag. Then he he got some hand wipes and cleaned up his hands after.

He continued to rummage through the contents of the handbag. Not that he was looking for anything but because he was still reeling in all the sorting business and was not ready just yet to converse and start making friends.

Everybody! Hello friends!

Even with the sweets he had on the train, Henry was starving and more than ready for the feast. But he knew how these things went. An eternity would pass before the speech, then they would finally get to eat. His eyes drifted to the head table, looking at the familiar and unfamiliar faces, before returning his attention to his own table. While he waited, he could do his other favorite things at the feast - talk to his friends and watch the sorting for new Hufflepuffs.

"Hey, Kat," he grinned at the girl sitting not far him as she seemed to be watching sorting too. He had just seen her on the train and already ate the candy she gave him, so he wouldn't ask her how summer was. Especially as he had seen her a couple times over the holiday as well. "Happy to be back?" Probably the second most asked question after how was your summer, but it worked as a conversation starter.

He gave a wave to Hattie and noticed Noah's little sister.. what was her name? Skylar? Yes, Henry thought so and she got a grin as well. "Hey, girls... how was summer?" He was pretty sure he saw them at one of the U17 games over summer, but he didn't always have time to talk afterwards so he couldn't be too sure. But it seemed likely.

He noticed a couple of the second years, Isa and Kimi, in the middle of conversation as well. The fifteen year old did not know either of them all that well, but they both got cheerful waves. It was good to see them back as well as he thought all his fellow Hufflepuffs were great. Oh! And first new Hufflepuff to be sorted! Henry cheered for Lizzie as she headed for their table. "Hi! Welcome to Hufflepuff! I'm Henry," he said with a grin.

More new Hufflepuffs! Awesome! Ambrose and Kane both got cheers from the fifth year when they were deemed badgers as well and made their way over to the house table. "Hey, guys! Welcome to Hufflepuff! I'm Henry." Could they tell how excited he was that they were there? He was always happy for more housemates. Hufflepuff was the best!

Oh but Kane wasn't a first year? He couldn't help but overhear the conversation when his brother, Brent came over as well. "Oh, you guys are from Ilvermorny? That's cool. My friend Zara transferred here from there last year. Maybe you know her? She's a fifth year like me." Where was Zara anyway? He lost track of her after the train. "Anyway, I'm Henry. Welcome to Hogwarts," he grinned.

He looked back up at the sorting momentarily but turned back to the table when he heard someone saying hello to everyone. "Oh, hey, Carl." He sent a wave and smile in the fourth year's direction. "Have a good summer?" He certainly did. And Henry's eyes snapped up again as he heard the sorting hat call out a Hufflepuff. Oh, another badger? Henry cheered for the boy (Simon) as he made his way over, even if the kid looked rather preoccupied. "Hey there! Welcome to Hufflepuff," he grinned. New housemates were always a great thing.

PuppySara 01-02-2017 06:54 PM

Anyone?

Levi came running to his house after he'd been sorted. His mom would be happy. He followed her footsteps of her house unlike his older brother who had to go off and be a Ravenclaw... Weirdo. The eleven year old smiled at his new housemates as he sat down, probably beaming with pride. The house was his first choice, again, considering it was his AMAZING mother's house... But Gryffindor was a very close second with it being his father's house.

He glanced over at the Ravenclaw table looking for Landon, wondering where he was, or if he'd heard yet. And he couldn't wait to rub it in that he really was the better sibling.

Hurrying to the Hufflepuff table, Val practically threw herself onto the bench to take her seat. Partly because she couldn't bare to be standing any longer for fear of standing out, and also because she just wanted to be sitting at her table.

Like, she was here. She'd made it!

Still the Croatian was all smiles, pearly white teeth flashing as she quickly peered around her, taking in the room (because she'd been immensely distracted before) and the faces of her nearest house mates.

This felt right. She felt right... and yet, she still hadn't found her voice enough to speak. There was no time like the present, yes?

"Helloooo!" she chirped to those in her vicinity, complete with an awkward wave. Yes, hi.

Kane smiled at the older girl. "Nice to meet you Kat," he replied. He was NOT going to remember all these names though, that was for sure - it was going to take him a while. He was good with faces, but not so much the names that went with them. He figured all the new arrivals felt this way though...

"He is, but bro is like...slang too," he added with a chuckle. He always felt the need to defend his...American vernacular around people. Which was probably super unnecessary but he was afraid he'd be embarrassed if he didn't explain himself, or they'd just think he was crazy...

SPOILER!!: Everybody!

I'm Carl."

Speaking of brothers, she glanced over at the Slytherin table to see if her brother Phillip was somewhere over there or maybe he was sitting with Ava at the Gryffindor table. But no he was at his house table she waved over to him and smiled. She may have also been looking for some other Slytherins too. Just maybe. Anyway, she smiled when the older boy said they were in fact brothers or Bro. "That's cool. My brother is in Slytherin too." Just to point that out. "I'm Kat. I'm a fourth year. What about you?" She asked Brent.

Turning to the younger brother she smiled at him. "It's nice too meet you too, Kane." Oh yeah she knew about the bro slang... bro. Philip was her "bro" too. She giggled. "Yeah I knew that, it's just short for brother." It was nice to see more sets of Hufflepuff/Slytherin siblings at the school. She would have to go bother her own brother later.

Carl, appeared too! "Hello, Carl. How was your summer?" She asked as he joined him at the table. These new and first year hufflepuffs were very talkative. Katerina frowned sightly when Brent said that Hufflepuffs didn't seem that friendly to Slytherins. She was about to speak up when Carl replied first. She nodded at his answer then give one of her own. "I think most of them are new themselves. I have lots of Slytherin friends."

Katerina smiled at Kimi. "Yes, I did. How was your summer?" She hadn't seen Kimi since the end of term feast last term. She hoped he had had a good summer.

There were so much ickle puffs this year. The fourth year could not be anymore excited, they were all getting cupcakes soon. In celebration of their being sorted into Hufflepuff, or just being back at school that was reason enough to make cupcakes. The blonde smiled at the younger girl. "Same, it's nice to meet you, . What do you think of Hogwarts so far?

She turned to talk to Ambrose, who she was glad had gotten sorted into Hufflepuff. She beamed at him. "I'm glad you are going to love it." Who didn't love
Hufflepuff or Hogwarts for that matter.

SPOILER!!: Henry

The sorting was taking forever this feast or maybe it was just her. It did seem like it was taking forever. She heard her name and the voice was very familiar. Turning to the voice which was Henry's she smiled softly at him. "Hey Henry." She had spoken to him on the train and even given him candy. "Yeah, I am happy to be back. Are you?" There was always a tad bit of freedom being back at school. It was nice to have that. "It would be even better once this sorting and the speech is over with I'm ready to eat." She said with a chuckle. She had basically pigged out on the train all day and was now ready for a real meal.

Oh look Hufflepuff had gotten two more first years, with in a matter of minutes, it was probably longer than a matter of a few minutes with how slow this sorting was going. The fourth year noted that these two new sorted boys were rather quieter compared to the others. She waved at them as they joined them at the table. "Hello. Welcome to Hufflepuff. I'm Kat." She nodded toward them. Now she was really getting hungry and was ready for the speech.

"a...um. Thanks." The Boy looked older than he did, so he clearly had seniority, which meant simon would need to show him respect. "I'm Simon." He extended his hand out to shake the older Hufflepuff's if the Older boy accepted his handshake.

Simon had intended to just continue staying quiet and would eventually speak up (Maybe once Derf came down), but the girl next to him did so first. "Hi...I saw you just got sorted too." There look he managed to even strike up conversation! On a role so far Simon Mordecai!

Ah Okay okay... more conversation was striking up! Simon you can do this! Seemed like everyone was now greeting him and the moment silence was not going to last. "Hello..." she said her name was Cat? His attention snapped back to his own table, slightly bothered he hadn't spotted his older brother. But at least he could make new friends with the people in his house! "Hi, Kat. I'm Levi." He beamed. Yes. Make new friends, they'd be better than his older brother anyways. Landon didn't like their adorable baby sister, and he didn't seem like he cared for Levi either, so phooey on him. The first year could have fun without his stupid brother.

Fat Friar 01-02-2017 08:46 PM

Another term, another feast, new badgers! Alfred drifted contently towards the yellow-clad table as he hummed calmly to himself.

"Hello, everyone!" He waved. "It is so nice to have you all back! And welcome, new students!" He thought he could see a few new faces here and there. "I am the Fat Friar!" he smiled. "Do not think the name is mean or unkind in any way. I've embraced the title!" and he rested his hands atop his rotund belly.

"But for those of you who don't know and might not like Fat Friar...my name is Alfred,"
he grinned. Every so often he'd reveal his name to students. It had been awhile since had last spoke it to students, though, and most of the ones that would have known probably graduated.

Brent raised his eyebrows. "Really?" he asked the little bro, "because I completely had myself pegged as a Gryffindor." He shrugged. Slytherin had been a very close second, though. "They say that hat can see things even we don't know about ourselves, though. So who knows." With the absence of Quodpot and Quidditch and therefore nothing to compete in, Brent wondered where his competitive nature would fall into place at. He wasn't really in to Gobstones. Brent gave a light laugh at Kane's comparison to his hair and Hufflepuff house. "Only you, Kane."

It was kind of funny, though.

Brent's question about Hufflepuffs was answered, although not from the person he'd actually asked it to. That was cool, though, because it proved him wrong. Hufflepuffs were starting to show their friendly side, after all. Maybe Brent had just jumped to conclusions all too soon. "Well, that's cool," Brent said, turning to face the guy who answered. "My summer was a disaster, or I'd join in on the fun." He laughed and added, "I'm Brent Westwood." He gestured toward Kane. "I'm this one's older bro." He grinned at the congratulations. "Thanks, man."

I spent my first three years there," he replied. Zara? Hmm... Brent didn't remember a Zara, but maybe if he could catch her hanging out around Hogwarts, he might be able to put a name with a face. "Awesome. I'll have to meet up with her one of these days, and see if we remember each other." He returned the grin of the slightly older boy. "Nice to meet you, Henry. Thanks for the welcome."

Then a ghost came floating around, which didn't really alarm Brent all that much. He just wondered if this happened often, and if it did, would he awakened in the night by some spirit flying through him? Weirdddd. The ghost went through a pretty big introduction, but in the end, Brent had no idea what his name even was. Something about Fat, Friar, and Alfred. For Colt and anyone else who wants to play!

.... welp.

"PIKACHU?!"

Juliette was frantic as she pranced into the Great Hall. Her eyes full of fear as she tried to scope out her lost yellow pygmy puff. She could see why her father had not gotten her a rabbit, which was specifically what she had asked for as a sixteenth birthday gift, because who knew what would happen to it?? She had already lost her puff, and she JUST GOT TO SCHOOL!

"PIKA?!"

She got on her knees as she started looking under the Hufflepuff table. This was exactly where she saw the little ball of fluff run off to. What if someone stepped on it?? Oh my gosh, she needed to find him!

Juliette saw the little yellow ball bounce between people's feet, and when she darted to catch it under the table, she bumped her head against the wood. She mumbled some words as she rubbed the place where wood met skin. "Bloody hell." Upon hearing a familiar voice, she moved out from under the table and looked up at, "Colt!" He was here to save the day! "I lost the pygmy puff that my father got me for my birthday. It's small, yellow, and seems to be a little faster than it should be."

Her blue eyes looked past him when she saw the little ball of fluff again bounding towards the direction of the staff table. "There is it!" She pointed.

He was pretty sure he didn't want to touch her sore head. He hugged her and then went to look for her little furry friend named Pikachu? What in the bloody merlin did he know that name from? Oh right Pokemon. He was a huge fan back in the muggle world. He saw it bouncing in the middle of the aisle. He thought of a quick idea and said, "Hold my robes.." he handed them to her. He ran through the aisle and slide through like sliding to first base and managed to catch it. He barely got a hold of it before it wiggled out but he used his second hand and covered it. One he got up he saw how much dust he had. He shrugged and he would have dirty pant legs but ah well.

He walked back and brought back Pikachu and he handed to its rightful owner. "Now that was fun.." he smiled. He loved adventure. He kissed her cheek as an your welcome.

One of the boys that had just been sorted sat himself down, without an introduction like everyone else had so far. Looking at him in confusion he watched as he dug through his... bag.

Well... That wasn't acceptable.

"HI!" he greeted, beaming at the other Hufflepuff probably first year? Although he might be another transfer. "I'm Ambrose, first year. What about you? Are you excited about being sorted? Or being at Hogwarts?"

Because that was how you made friends!

One of the boys that greeted him after his sorting seemed just as excited as Ambrose was about being at Hogwarts! These people were all incredibly welcoming! It made his grin grow even more.

"Thank you! Nice to meet you Henry, I'm Ambrose," he included his name in case the boy hadn't heard it up until this point.

But Gryffindor was a very close second with it being his father's house.

He glanced over at the Ravenclaw table looking for Landon, wondering where he was, or if he'd heard yet. And he couldn't wait to rub it in that he really was the better sibling.

Another just sorted person just approached the table, and Ambrose couldn't help but grin at the boy who looked like he also might be a first year.

"Hi, I'm Ambrose, nice to meet you!" he greeted immediately, beaming at the other boy. "You happy about your sorting?" he followed up, having over the course of the day learnt that some people unlike him seemed to have expectations of where they were supposed to end up.

A second year?

So he wasn't that much older than Ambrose was. "So how have you liked Hogwarts so far? What are the classes like?" Because these were important questions he hadn't had the time to ask yet. Besides which he didn't know how else to keep this conversation going...

He missed his sister.

Yes, hi.

Hearing another voice pipe up, Ambrose shifted, brown eyes catching sight of another girl who had just sat down. He wasn't sure if she was addressing anyone in particular, but he smiled at her anyway.

"Hi, I'm Ambrose, nice to meet you," he greeted, a huge smile still painting his face.

SPOILER!!: Kimi, Lizzy and Ambrose

The sorting was taking forever this feast or maybe it was just her. It did seem like it was taking forever. She heard her name and the voice was very familiar. Turning to the voice which was Henry's she smiled softly at him. "Hey Henry." She had spoken to him on the train and even given him candy. "Yeah, I am happy to be back. Are you?" There was always a tad bit of freedom being back at school. It was nice to have that. "It would be even better once this sorting and the speech is over with I'm ready to eat." She said with a chuckle. She had basically pigged out on the train all day and was now ready for a real meal.

SPOILER!!: Levi and Simon

Oh look Hufflepuff had gotten two more first years, with in a matter of minutes, it was probably longer than a matter of a few minutes with how slow this sorting was going. The fourth year noted that these two new sorted boys were rather quieter compared to the others. She waved at them as they joined them at the table. "Hello. Welcome to Hufflepuff. I'm Kat." She nodded toward them. Now she was really getting hungry and was ready for the speech.

He nodded, still beaming at the thought of how he really was enjoying being at Hogwarts at the moment.

"It's so much better than what I thought! The pictures really don't compare to actually being here! Like... it just seems so much bigger! And I didn't realise that the ceiling would be so convincing, or that the hat could read my mind... do you know how that works?"

All of his thoughts tumbled out of his mouth, and he smiled sheepishly at the older witch, running a hand through the dark proud hair on his head.

Wooooooww!!!!!

THERE WAS A GHOST!

Like he was actually seeing a ghost!!!!!!!!

Clearly, while he'd read about it, he hadn't actually been fully prepared for coming face to face with a ghost.

He grinned at the ghost in question. "Nice to meet you Alfred... how long have you been at Hogwarts? You're the Hufflepuff house ghost right? I think you were mentioned in one of the books... "

Wow. WOW. Lots of chatting with this one. But that was cool, because if Kane was in the right mood, HE could be really chatty as well. "Would that have been a...good thing?" Kane asked, raising a blond eyebrow. Being sent back to China? Or would that have been like...punishment. He wasn't sure since the boy was rambling...

"Oh, yeah, it's awesome! They have four houses, just like Hogwarts,"
he explained. "I was a Pukwudgie, which...I dunno, is kind of like Hufflepuff I guess? Must be if I'm here," he chuckled.

"Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to TALK to me. But that was kind of cool, telling us what it saw in our heads," he concluded. That was like...the closest thing to a real psychic he would ever get to experience, since Divination was all hogwash basically.

Even after years of living in this castle, he often found himself getting surprised by the ceiling.

Everyone was just so NICE in Hufflepuff! Kane really was starting to like it here - good choice, Mr. Sorting Hat. Good choice indeed! "Hi Carl! Nice to meet you! And it is?! I thought it was just like...random. Are the dorms like that too? That would be SO COOL. Where IS our dorm, by the way?" he added as an afterthought. THE FAT FRIAR! Kane had read about him! As far as ghosts went, he didn't seem like the COOLEST ghost here - let's be real, that was definitely the Bloody Baron, or maybe Nearly Headless Nick - but boy, did he seem like the nicest.

"Nice to meet you, Alfred!" he joked along with the ghost as he waved at him. That was less of a mouthful than Fat Friar, and more polite of course, although as the ghost said, he'd EMBRACED the title. Kane would probably do the same, if he were in that situation.

With the absence of Quodpot and Quidditch and therefore nothing to compete in, Brent wondered where his competitive nature would fall into place at. He wasn't really in to Gobstones. Brent gave a light laugh at Kane's comparison to his hair and Hufflepuff house. "Only you, Kane."

It was kind of funny, though.

Kane had to physically stop himself from rolling his eyes when Brent said his summer had been a disaster. He made a promise to himself that if HE ever got dumped, he was not going to be so DRAMATIC about it. Nope. He would have common sense about the situation.

Except he would obviously NEVER be dumped. HE would be doing the dumping. Yeah.

"I figured Gryffindor or Slytherin for you. I thought I might go to Gryffindor too...guess we can both agree though we are definitely NOT Ravenclaws,"

"Hmm, I wonder what Chloe will get when she comes here in a few years...and Logan, wayyy down the line," he wondered aloud, thinking of their siblings and what houses they might end up in. Chloe would be there at the same time they were...but Logan would be all on his own. Whoops. Poor kid.

All the people.

Etta sat at her house table, trying not to look too nervous. It was weird not knowing anyone... could she just randomly start a conversation with the girl sitting next to her? Or would she consider that rude? Would anyone want to talk to her?

.... The girl was kind of starting to panic a little. Being the new girl at school was just so difficult. So very difficult. Now, more than anything, she wished she could just go back home.

That Ghost was Fat. Of course Simon would never say this aloud. He only was observing as the Ghost floated along their table and began greeting old and new students alike. "Evening Alfred" he said looking up toward the Fat Flying Clear-Man. "Is it. Is it true that you would pull Rabbits out of Communion cups?" Simon had read of this, but wanted to peg it as just a rumor. Surely someone flaunting as his House Ghost wouldn't be so petty as to pull something so similar to a Muggle Trick like that and get axed over it.

Levi looked over and smiled, "I'm Levi, and I'm sure it's a pleasure!" He had to paused at his next question. Who wouldn't be happy to be in Hufflepuff??? His mother had told him how amazing her house was and he agreed with her already everyone seemed really nice and welcoming.

He nodded, clearly beaming, "Yep! My mother was a Hufflepuff when she attended Hogwarts!" Surely she would be proud of him for making it to her house, "How about you? Excited to be here?" Because he should be. Seriously. It was only the greatest house, despite what his father and brother would say to defend their lame houses.

Charms and Transfiguration?

Ambrose could easily remember what they were, though he was nervous about attending the classes. Mainly because he was still nervous about casting a spell. The accidental magic he'd cast as a child told him that he could do it, it's just... he'd never tried. What if he couldn't when he tried?

"I think I'm looking forward to History of Magic..." he'd always loved history, didn't have a clue about the history of the wizarding world and that wouldn't include magic so he should be decent at that one!

And muggle studies. If he wasn't good at that one he was going to just quit.

Was going back to China a good thing? Ambrose tilted his head to the side in thought for a moment. "Well it wouldn't have been awful..." his sister might have actually killed him if he had gone back to China.

Also if Chinese wizarding school was anything like muggle school, then that wouldn't have been so cool either. Though with that amount of study he would've improved very quickly, he mused to himself.

Pukwudgie? Yeah there was no way Ambrose was going to remember that. "Wizards have a lot of weird names for things," he commented, smiling in amusement as he thought about the ones he'd known so far. Hogwarts. Ilvermony. Hufflepuff. Quidditch. Nifflers.

The list kind of just went on.

"It was kinda fun, but also kinda..." he froze for a moment, unsure of how to keep going. "Weird?" Yeah that last bit sounded like more of a question. "Like I didn't expect it to bring up my sister."

Simon had read of this, but wanted to peg it as just a rumor. Surely someone flaunting as his House Ghost wouldn't be so petty as to pull something so similar to a Muggle Trick like that and get axed over it.
Simon jerked his head up and looked at the boy who had just yelled 'Hi!' at him. Like it was some kind of competition to win at best introduction? Who was he his Adoptidad? He quickly clipped his handbag closed and smiled at him. "Hi, back at you." Simon extended his arm to shake the other boy's "Ambrose, I'm Simon. Maybe, and I guess so." He was sure that he would eventually get used to all the new things happening around him, but for the moment he needed to settle in.

Okay Simon seemed like interacting was a thing that was gonna have to Happen now. Get that game face going. The Bespectacled young boy slapped on a smile and turned his attention to another boy who didn't seem much older than himself. He nodded quickly. "Simon, yeah I just got sorted." He replied.

Maybe?

He guessed so?

Ambrose tilted his head slightly in confusion as to why this other first year WASNT SO EXCITED! They were at a literal school of magic! About to learn real magic! They had been sorted by a talking hat that could read their minds! He'd probably grown up in the wizarding world, Ambrose concluded. Though even that didn't make that much sense because he was pretty sure he'd met other kids from wizard families that were equally as excited as him.

"So anything you're looking forward to?"

Please get excited?

He nodded, clearly beaming, "Yep! My mother was a Hufflepuff when she attended Hogwarts!" Surely she would be proud of him for making it to her house, "How about you? Excited to be here?" Because he should be. Seriously. It was only the greatest house, despite what his father and brother would say to defend their lame houses.

His mother was also a Hufflepuff at Hogwarts, Ambrose's smile softened for a moment at the thought of something like that. He couldn't imagine whether if his parents had been wizards that attended Hogwarts where they'd be put or whether they'd be proud of him for where he had landed. If he told them about the houses they'd probably expect Ravenclaw. That that the smile dropped for a split second. The the boys question, Ambrose immediately beamed at Levi again though.

"Yeah, it's incredible! I'm looking forward to everything!" he'd exclaimed, imagining how things could go. He paused a moment after that. "Except flying... I'm not looking forward to flying."

OPEN post! [Fat Friar mention + oodles of shout outs]

Alrighty, then. Hazel hustled over to the Hufflepuff table following her sorting, wondering if Derf had made it back from.. wherever he disappeared after his. They were in the same house!!! Did he know? Last she'd seen him, he'd walked right off the stool and out the door. Scanning the length of the table was difficult and she didn't spot him or the plant-wielding girl from the train.

Oh well. Hazel settled down in the first open seat she found, smiles all around. There were so many people to meet. Oh! She'd have to write Emma to tell her mom that she was a Hufflepuff now too! The fleeting thought of Emma and Emma's mom led her, of course, to Emma's dad which brought her train of thought over to Gryffindor which had her spin around in her seat to look over at that table wondering how poor Abey Botros was doing after his sorting and resolving to check on him. But what she saw instead was a clump of Kettleburns. A klump? She knew that Charlotte and Callum were Gryffindors and because her last name was after their's, had seen Chloe get sorted into Ravenclaw. Someone else she'd have to check on.

Was she allowed to do that now? Where were those prefect people that her dad had talked about? Hazel turned back to her own table and sorta half stood to look down the length of it, trying to spot a badge. It was terribly bothersome being short.

"Um..." she said to no one in particular. "If I've got a question about what's allowed, who do I ask?"

But her question was soon no longer the most prominent thing in her mind, because the Fat Friar had flown overhead and he now had Hazel's full attention. "Well, what do you prefer?" Because even if she'd rather call him Albert, if he preferred Fat Friar, well, she'd go with that!

Who was this pretty person? Kane’s brother? ”Hi, I’m Isa!”

Kane had yet to meet someone in his year...but he was also a terrible judge of age. This girl could be a year older than him, he couldn't quite tell.

Cute new boy Kane was in the same year as her! ”Yeah, I’m a second year too.” Isa smiled at Kane. She was twirling her hair around her finger as she talked. ”Where in America are you from? Digging into it he pulled out some tissue paper and wiped his nose real fast and blew into the tissue paper. He disposed of the tissue back into his bag in a small little waste bag he keeps in it. Warfield, his Adoptidad had expanded the inside of his man-purse handbag. Then he he got some hand wipes and cleaned up his hands after.

He continued to rummage through the contents of the handbag. Not that he was looking for anything but because he was still reeling in all the sorting business and was not ready just yet to converse and start making friends.

But Gryffindor was a very close second with it being his father's house.

He glanced over at the Ravenclaw table looking for Landon, wondering where he was, or if he'd heard yet. And he couldn't wait to rub it in that he really was the better sibling.

This felt right. She felt right... and yet, she still hadn't found her voice enough to speak. There was no time like the present, yes?

emjay 01-04-2017 01:50 AM

I think everyone's in here XD

Henry did his best to divide his time equally between talking to friends, getting to know new housemates, and watching the sorting for even more Hufflepuffs. And yes, he was still hungry and waiting for actual food, but that seemed to not be immediately imminent anyway.

Anytime a new Hufflepuff was called out, they got a big boisterous cheer from this fifth year. And was it just him, but did there seem to be a lot of new badgers this year? That was great though, and he watched the newest boy to be sorted (Levi) head to their table. "Hey there! Welcome to Hufflepuff!" Henry greeted him with a grin.

And before he could say much more, Henry noticed another new Hufflepuff headed their way. This girl (Valerija) looked to be a little older than a first year, so Henry figured she might be transferring in and he returned the wave. "Hi," he greeted her with a smile. "I'm Henry. Welcome to Hufflepuff!"

Henry returned Kat's smile as she turned to talk to him. "Oh, sure.. it's great to see everyone again," he grinned. Of course, he tried to see friends over the summer, but he was glad to see them all the time now too. Plus another year of learning magic would be cool even if he didn't look forward to the homework. He laughed and glanced up at the staff table, answering her spoken thoughts with a nod. "Oh, I know. I'm starving. I don't know why they don't just start off with the food and then work the speech and sorting in." Though he guessed it would be kind of hard to sort students while they were eating. There was probably a better compromise but he didn't give it any more thought.

Oh, new little Hufflepuff was polite and Henry gave Simon a smile when he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you, Simon," he said, shaking the boy's offered hand. "My name's Henry. I'm in my fifth year here, so if you have any questions about anything, let me know, okay?" He remembered feeling a little overwhelmed on his first day here but Hufflepuffs were usually pretty welcoming and helpful. They stuck together.

And there was his favorite house ghost! Henry gave the Friar a big grin as he floated by their table. He always did feel weird about calling him Fat Friar... it just seemed mean, okay? Even if the ghost said he was alright with it. But he didn't know that his name was really Alfred! "Hey, Friar!" Henry greeted him with a grin. "How was your summer?" What did ghosts do all summer when students and teachers weren't around anyway?

Henry turned to the boys from Ilvermorny next. He'd have guessed they were American anyway considering their accent, now that he was talking to them. It didn't sound like Brent knew Zara, but it was cool. It was just a question, though it might have been cool for the other boy if one of his friends was already here. "Maybe I'll mention it to her and introduce you." It was just too bad she wasn't sitting right there. He glanced down the end of the table, noticing her head on the plate. Oh.. yeah, she was really tired. But he didn't think she was that tired. Anyway. "So, which part of the US are you from?" he asked Kane. "I've been there just once but I thought it was pretty cool." He liked to travel. "What do you guys think of the UK so far?" It must be tough to move to a different country and leave all your friends behind.

Henry grinned back at the newly sorted first year. "Nice to meet you too, Ambrose," he grinned back. It was nice to see someone so excited to be here and sit at the Hufflepuff table. That was the kind of badger spirit he liked to see. "Cool name. I don't think I've met another Ambrose before." Nope, he was certain of it. "I'm a fifth year, so if you need anything or have any questions, just let me know." He still remembered how homesick he sometimes got his first year and having a second family in Hufflepuff definitely helped.

While he was busy conversing with the people at the table, Henry was pretty sure he missed someone else being sorted into Hufflepuff. Because as he looked up to the staff table for any sign of the new headmistress about to start her speech, he happened to noticed a new girl (Etta) sitting all alone. And he hadn't yet welcomed her. "Hey there!" he grinned. "Welcome to Hufflepuff!" It was important to him that all the new badgers felt welcomed and excited to be a part of their house.

Eyes back to the sorting, he cheered for the next newest badger (Hazel) as she headed over to the table. But before he could say anything, she already had questions. Well, he supposed that answer would depend on exactly what kind of permission she was seeking, though Isa answered it sufficiently enough. "An older student could probably help you out too, in general, if the prefects aren't handy," he added. "Though if it's a really important, tricky question, you might need a teacher." There were certain things you had to get special staff permissions for and he pointed up to the staff table. "Oh, and welcome to Hufflepuff!" Big smile.

The ghost went through a pretty big introduction, but in the end, Brent had no idea what his name even was. Something about Fat, Friar, and Alfred. Alfred seemed the easiest to go with, and so that was what Brent would call him. "What's up, Alfred?" he asked.

The Friar smiled at the colloquialism. "Hello...what is your name?" He saw this was a new face. "And are you a transfer?" Because he certainly didn't look like a first year.

Another new face! Alfred was very pleased all of them seemed to be in jolly spirits! And such kindness they were showing him, too! True badgers!

He chuckled. "I am mentioned in books. Any book about Hogwarts would have us ghosts in it!" And how long HAD he been there? The Friar thought for a moment... "I think...well...a very long time. I can't even recall when..." because that's how long it had been. "At least hundreds..." Was it really hundreds?! Merlin's pants!

"Nice to meet you, Alfred!" he joked along with the ghost as he waved at him. That was less of a mouthful than Fat Friar, and more polite of course, although as the ghost said, he'd EMBRACED the title. Kane would probably do the same, if he were in that situation.

Alfred waved back at the boy. "And what is your name, young sir?" he asked, because once again...a new face! So many of them soooooo many of them! He loved it!

Oh dear! It seemed like Peeves and Miffy were up to no good over at the Slytherin table. He clicked his tongue and shook his head. "Merlin. Three poltergeists..." he muttered to himself. Things had seemed off ever since Storm arrived, too. He wondered if the other ghosts felt the discomfort that he did all summer.

Isa? Etta turned towards the younger girl, who seemed to be talking to almost everyone at the table, the corners of her lips lifting up in a small smile. "Hi! Why, thank you." Hufflepuff. She was happy to be in this house, just as her parents had expected. "I'm Etta. It's nice to meet you, Isa." She extended a hand, her smile turning into a grin.

.... and then the Friar was talking to her. Etta looked up at him, excitement in her brown eyes. Talking to a ghost was pretty exciting for her. "I am okay, thank you." She said with a polite smile on her face, her nervousness slowly melting away. "It's just.... I'm new." It was a little overwhelming to be around so many people and not know anyone. "You're very nice though. I'm Etta." The girl introduced herself. "What do I call you?"

"Hi." She grinned back at the boy ( Henry ) who welcomed her. People seemed to be quite friendly around here, which was such a relief. "Thank you very much. I'm Etta."

Griffin/Isa (just passing through)

Hads wasn't staying long. Nope. Any moment, the Headmistress would probably be starting her speech, and food would appear, and yeah. She'd already waited long enough for the food, and didn't want the delay of walking back to her table on top of it.

But, she also needed to see a certain Hufflepuff, by the name of Wright. It was important. She spotted the second year half a table away, and smiled. It was good to see Isa chatting away with her housemates and friends so easily. Hadley approached the girl from behind, and gently laid a hand on her shoulder to let Isa know she was there. She leaned over and whispered, "Meet me in the Room of Requirement this Wednesday after classes." Isa should know what this was about, but if she didn't, she'd find out on Wednesday.

With a sly wink, Hadley made her way back to the Ravenclaw table.

You know, there was a saying. Speak of the devil and he shall arrive? Well, Brian Woods wasn't quite what one would call that, but he did have an uncanny ability to show up just as he was being spoken of. It almost compensated for his uncanny ability to be late for literally everything. Breakfast, lunch, classes, prefect meetings. You name it, he was probably walking in only as you questioned where he was.

"Somewhere would be right here. Had a good summer, Isa?" It was normally recommended that he ask these questions, right? He was quite certain. Taking a seat and watching what was left of the sorting, his eyes might have been a little glazed with Nostalgia. He still remembered the hat sitting there on his head, quite like a hat and not saying anything for a good while. And then telling him he'd make a good Ravenclaw.

Well, Ravenclaw wasn't where the cookies were, so here he was. Hufflepuff. And watching the last sorting he'd experience as a student. Ever. Of course he wasn't tearing up.

"Um..." she said to no one in particular. "If I've got a question about what's allowed, who do I ask?"

And turning to the girl whose question Isa had answered. "That would be me," he nodded, offering a hand. In case she'd missed the interaction. "Brian Woods, Hufflepuff prefect at your service." Although in his experience, this service had ended up being inclusive of yelling at rude house ghosts and losing a good few house points before the term had even begun. Yet another reason he wasn't fond of Peeves and Miffy. But today was a good day, nothing had gotten in the way of that yet (save for the prefect meeting, but even that was sorted out).

Now to address the rest of the table. "Reverend," he grinned up at the ghost. "Glad to see you again. Was the castle terribly lonely this summer?" Because, well. He imagined it was quite dull if you were hanging around the same people you had for the past five hundred years. "The rest of you too, had a good break, yeah?"

It was good to be back, really.

Brian and a hello to everyone ;) anyone can respond ;)

Juno made her way towards the Puff table. She totally forgot that she had to use the restroom because prefecting was immensely busy, part way through the sorting she snuck out, and of course there was a long line. Why did girls always have to go in groups to the bathroom??? She should know that answer, but she really didn't. She liked to Piddle in Private.

Juno smiled and waved as she approached the table. There were a few minutes between sorting and the Headmaster/mistress so she was very lucky that the sorting had just ended. She waved at all her Puffs and gave them all a big smile. "Hi everyone," she called out. Then suddenly a woman was standing up at the Staff Dias, so Juno quickly plopped down next to Brian. Though she wasn't sure if that was a great idea. He didn't seem to like her very much, which really bothered her. She really wanted to be his friend. She would avoid obvious questions at all costs.

Juno listened, and quietly handed a little yellow box with a cupcake inside that had the Hufflepuff crest on it over to Brian. "I forgot to give it to you on the train. Made them myself." She gave him a small smile. she then turned her attention back to the announcements.

She applauded politely for the new Professors. She applauded loudly when it was announced that Paul was now Deputy Headmaster. "WOOHOO! Go Professor Myers!" She called out. He completely deserved it!! Then the woman at the Dias announced that she was the new Headmistress...which wasn't surprising seeing as she was the one making the announcements! She applauded politely for her as well.

FINALLLLLLYYY it was time for food!!!!!!!! Juno pilled up her plate. She was starving.

"Oh. You must not have looked very well" Harriet pointed out with a little grin. She actually had spent the train ride on her own actually. Luca wasn't at Hogwarts yet, which made her sad. But she had hoped that one of her friends would come find her. When they hadn't came Hattie had just decided to draw instead. Drawing was her favorite thing in the world to do. She'd drawn the hogwarts express on it's way to Hogwarts. Or well an interpretation anyway, since she'd been on the train she couldn't actually draw what it had exactly looked like.

"Come sit down..." She murmured with a smile "We have the best food here"

Ooh. Someone else was talking to her! Hattie turned to the new voice and beamed. She loved having new friends. "Hi Isa" She third year beamed at her fellow Hufflepuff. "I'm really good" She'd had a great summer. It had been perfect, but she was happy to be back at school now. She loved being at Hogwarts. "How was your summer?"

"Hi Sky. I found her." Her and Skylar had ran into each other on the train and both were wondering where Hattie was during the train ride

"Of course I'm here. Where else do you think I'd be?" It wasn't like she would go to any other house. Hufflepuff was her home, and she didn't really care about going to any other house. And Luca was in her house too, so it really did not matter about her not going to another house. "I tried to find you on the train...but I couldn't. So I just drew instead" She murmured with a smile. She loved her drawing. It was something she always wanted to do.

"How was the rest of your summer?" They had the art camp, but she hadn't seen her since the, which had made her sad.

He was pretty sure he saw them at one of the U17 games over summer, but he didn't always have time to talk afterwards so he couldn't be too sure. But it seemed likely.

"Henry!" Harriet beamed as she looked at another of her friends. She was so excited! Henry was lovely, and pretty cute too. So she was excited to see him. "Summer was amazing..." Hattie murmured with a smile. There had been Summer camp, and then getting together with Luca, and then spending time with her big sister. It had been great. "How was yours?"

And now they could eat! "Yaaay food!" The third year beamed, before piling some mash onto her plate.

Pips 01-04-2017 11:04 PM

*POP*

Pips came into view at the Hufflepuff table and he was holding a plate. "Pips brought more potatoes. He has been working on them all day and just finished them."

Lissy Longbottom 01-04-2017 11:46 PM

and Pip at the end!

AH, the speech was starting! Kane was DEFINITELY a fan of this whole feast thing. Didn't really have time for this sort of stuff at Ilvermorny - in true American fashion, they just arrived and jumped right into classes the next day, no fancy welcome or anything unless you were a first year. As the headmistress started to speak, he was lazily looking around at the other tables when he slowly realized...he KNEW that voice...

His head snapped to the Headmistress and saw...PROFESSOR HAWTHORNE? What was SHE doing here?? He blinked a few times, just to be sure he was seeing things right. Yup, that was her. She had the accent and everything. He figured she had moved here to be Headmistress, which she confirmed a few moments later in his speech - wow, what were the odds of THAT? An Ilvermorny professor transferring to Hogwarts the same year Kane and Brent transferred?

Too bad she wasn't ACTUALLY the DADA professor here, just Headmistress. He'd ace that class for sure! Wait - he had an IN with the Headmistress right off the bat! YES! SCOREEEEEEEEE!

As his thoughts about automatically getting all O's in his classes thanks to his schmoozing distracted him, he suddenly heard a cheer and realized it was the end of the speech already. And then, suddenly - FOOOOOOOOD! LOTS OF FOOD!

"Oh yeah, this will do NICELY," he chuckled to himself before grabbing a giant turkey leg from a nearby platter and chowing down. Manners be damned, yo!

.... The girl was kind of starting to panic a little. Being the new girl at school was just so difficult. So very difficult. Now, more than anything, she wished she could just go back home.

Oh look, another new arrival! Even though Kane knew there was no WAY he'd be best friends with ALL these people, he wanted to at least say HI and introduce himself to everyone. He smiled at the girl, who looked a little...nervous...and waved.

"Hi! I'm Kane - second year. You?" he asked her with a polite grin. Asking people's years was a great way to get the conversation flowing, he was slowly learning.

Or... Maybe Landon was just weird... Yeah, that seemed more likely.

Levi and Simon...they seemed to be pretty close to him in age, so Kane would try hard to remember their names! They would likely be dorm mates, after all. "Hi Levi, hi Simon...nice to meet you," he told them with a smile.

Sister? Huh. Kane wasn't sure why the hat would bring up this kid's sister either, since it didn't mention anything about Brent when he was up there. Ah well. "Does your sister go here too?" he asked as he took a huge helpful of mashed potatoes.

SO MUCH FOOOOOOOOOD. He was going to pass right out after this and it was going to be glorious.

ANNND cue another young looking person who was probably one of Kane's classmates. He smiled and waved at the newcomer. "Hello! Welcome to Hufflepuff! I'm Kane," he said, introducing himself to the girl.

As for who to ask about questions...he just shrugged. Definitely NOT him, that was for sure.

"Malibu. We never even left California, so this is like...a BIG change," Kane explained with a chuckle. Truth be told, it was the winter that was scariest to him...he didn't know what to expect, especially from SNOW. He was excited though! "I'm excited to experience a real winter! Although I doubt I'll feel that way when it actually GETS here..."

"Oh really! Great - we have to stick together then. Seems everyone else is a firstie," he grinned, gesturing to all the other newcomers. That was to be expected, of course. Most people generally were NOT sorted during their SECOND year like he was...

"California. Malibu, to be exact," Kane answered the older boy's question as he took a bread roll and ripped it open. "And it's pretty cool so far. "Kane, sir," he replied to the ghost with a grin. Despite being...well, dead...Kane felt that this man deserved to be addressed more properly, because he was an adult, regardless of his lack of...life.

Poltergeists? They had POLTERGEISTS? Kane didn't know a whole lot about these types of ghosts, other than the fact that they were not the BEST type of ghosts to have around. "THREE poltergeists?" he asked the ghost with wide eyes. "Aren't they...um...bad ghosts?" he asked, almost whispering the last part. He had officially introduced himself to BOTH prefects, aka the most important people in the house (after their Head of House, of course). Hopefully he'd never NEED to try and bribe them into not getting him in trouble or anything, but it was always good to have that option in the back pocket. Hehe.

A loud POP made Kane jump, and he looked over to see a house elf piling more potatoes onto the table. After the initial shock, he grinned at the elf. "Thank you - they're DELICIOUS, by the way," he added. Like, for real. He wasn't exaggerating. He was easily on his third helping...

He liked to travel.

But it seemed like there was no shortage of people trying to answer her question. First it was the girl with the muffins and then some other person, but before she she could follow up with where she might find those people or what her question actually is, the boy prefect person introduced himself!

"Oh! Hi! Ok.." she started, wondering how to phrase this. She scrunched up her face as she peered back toward the other house tables. "I want to go check on some of my friends who ended up in other houses who I think might be upset." She looked back at the prefect with big, concerned doe eyes.

"Is it allowed if I want to go do that during the feast?"

Isa looked around the table to see who was already there. Puff, puff, snake! More friends from other houses! Yay! "Hi Kat, hi Hattie, hi Sky!" Isa waved at everyone. "How are you doing?" Time to catch up with everyone after not seeing most of them for a while.

Sky felt like an honorary Hufflepuff whenever she went over to see Hattie; it was like the one place that she could count on where house members seemed to know who she was. But then again, she was optimistic that Slytherin house members maybe felt the same about Hattie. "Hey Isa. Good to see you again," Sky returned the greeting to the younger girl. Always so cheerful she was, Sky was pretty sure she'd never seen Isa in a bad mood.... but she was still young, so who knew? "I'm doing alright."

"I see that. Ditto there." Sky grinned sheepishly at the older puff. "Good seeing you again, Kat."

There was also a Slytherin girl at the table, whom he believed was a close friend of Hattie's. "It's nice seeing you at the badger side! I don't think we've properly talked? I'm Carl."

And who was this? He looked familiar, and greeted her well enough.... Carl apparently. Badgers were so friendly, but she reckoned having a bestie in the house probably helped in that. "Don't worry, it's only temporary," Sky smiled slyly. "Nice to meet you, Carl. I'm Skylar, but you can call me Sky."

He was pretty sure he saw them at one of the U17 games over summer, but he didn't always have time to talk afterwards so he couldn't be too sure. But it seemed likely.

....

He waved at her. Yes she knew him. Well of him. Noah knew him better. And he totally just waved at her. And talked to her. And Skylar was at loss of words. Breathe, just breathe. Was he always that good looking or was the summer good to him?

Deep breath. Calm.

"Hi. It. It. was good. You?"

"Maybe not." Honestly she kind of had a bit on her mind. Like her brother not being on the train for reasons that were pretty much her fault. He'd be at Hogwarts soon though and she wanted to be the first to welcome him when he returned. She just would need to make sure she got his work for him, because it was his OWL year; though Noelle would probably help him but she was feeling all kinds of guilt. "Where were you on the train anyway? Who you with?"

"I should.... go back to my table. Opening feast and all. You know this." Sky bit her lower lip. "It's the same food at all the tables at feasts, silly."
