Gobstones Preliminary Match: Ravenclaw vs. Slytherin

http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...atchBanner.jpg
The building used for the Gobstones matches had had its doors closed against the early September chill. Its surfaces magically dusted by Mr McLeod and Mr. Kitridge, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's first preliminary match.

The blue and green marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch.

Mr. Kitridge walked in with his hands kept in his coat pockets against the cold autumn morning air, with Mr. McLeod the school's groundskeeper and together they set up the hall for the first match lightening the fireplaces. On the way down from the castle the two had seen the growing leaf piles under the trees.

As the teams assembled Justin put his wand to his mouth to enhance his whistle to get the players attention. "Good morning and welcome to the Gobstones club, today's our first game of the season. I hope you're all as pumped up as me and Mr. McLeod are!" Not waiting for any responses Leobald quickly signalled for the teams to choose their representatives for the first shot of the game.

"Let's begin!"

Sixth year snake Hady Lynch lined up against the eagle's Head Girl Penelope Wright. Mason Stevens whispered out some helpful advice before they took their shots. The blue stone was faster and went through six obstacles in its patch. It eventually slowed to a stop. The green stone surpassed it by another obstacle before stopping.

"First point of the match goes to Slytherin!" Justin announced.

Fourth year Rooney Bronwyn of Ravenclaw and second year Mason Stevens marched out on the court for the next roll of the match. The duo swung their shooters and watched their marbles speed off down the court. The green marble made it pas 6 obstacles before it lost all speed and abruptly stopped and didn't budge. The blue marble surpassed its opponent and one more obstacle to claim the points.

Both houses switched players as Penleope and Vivian took up their position by the starting line. Vivian seemed to have picked up some sort of luck with her first try with the shooter. He was getting his house's stone closer and closer to the Ravenclaws's stone, and the goal in extension. "3 points to Slytherin at the end of the first round. Slytherin leads 4-2 as we head into the second round! Come on both teams!" Leo cheered on.

The green marble surpassed its oppponent and 4 more obstacles to claim the points.
