History of Magic Lesson Three It had been an interesting term to say the least and, for his final Magical History class, Braith wanted his students to enjoy a fun lesson. He had been somewhat worried about so many of them with this weird aging thing going around that he thought something light and enjoyable was in order. Lesson Progression: Class has started Discussion Questions Discussion Answers and Wizarding Chess ooc: Welcome! Class has officially begun. Please don't post your charcter arriving late unless you want to deal with the IC consequences. Just act like you've been here all along. Please familiarize yourself with classroom rules before posting. Thanks! |
She was here, she didn't want to be but she was. OWLs needed passing when the term was over and they surely wouldn't be passing themselves now would they? Of course not which meant attending the classes and trying to get some form of understanding where all the history things were concerned. There was no pep in her step, she'd lost that all the way back in September when the aging began. The Professor should have been thankful enough that she was here on time. Those stairs from the Common Room weren't exactly a walk in the park you know. "Hello Professor. You wouldn't happen to have any pain killers on you, would you?" Might as well ask. Her back was giving her grief. Oh and they were meant to be sitting with the name tags? Well what if she wanted a change in scenery? Huh? Never thought about that she bet. |
Sander entered the History of Magic classroom. This would be the last time he'd be doing it before he graduated Hogwarts. Despite feeling sad, he produced another one of his familiar smiles and walked up to greet the Professor. "Hello Professor. I hope that you're doing well," ....then he turned around. Where should he sit? Being the second student in the classroom he had plenty of choices. Okay...the middle row.....oh wait there was a desk with his name tag on it. Okay that's where he'll sit....not that he had any choice now. |
Beaming, Lux walked into the History of Magic classroom. This was one of the subjects that she found interesting and was decent at, so it was always exciting to come here and learn something new. Spotting the Professor, she waved at him. "Hello, Professor McCormack. How are you today?" Heading over to her desk, she waved at Sander before taking a seat. "Hey!" |
So, term was ending, it was almost summer and the sun was shining, but here she was stuck inside with all the grannies in class. Sigh. Hopefully, this professor wouldn't be forcing them to read a ridiculous fairy tale then insisting it was true. Yes, that still burned her hide. This class dealt with facts and history, though, so surely that wouldn't happen. Layla entered the class, bag slung over her shoulder and eyed the board. Sit in the seat with her name tag? Easy enough. "Hello, professor," she greeted, doing as the board instructed and sitting in her assigned seat and taking out her textbook and note taking supplies. Ready. |
Alex entered the History of Magic classroom for the final time. As much as she tried not to think about her time at Hogwarts ending, she could not avoid it. Focus. No sad thoughts allowed today. She was early for class which was good. As she headed for the desk with her name on it, Alex greeted the Professor. "Hello Professor McCormack", she said. Seeing her friends Sander and Lux, she gave them each a wave before sitting down at her desk. Having plenty of time to unpack her things, Alex got settled and prepared for class to begin. |
Bay arrived into the class room to see that it was normal and it didn't look like they were going to go any where else.. *le sad face* looks like no S'mores for this class.. his stomach instantly rumbled.. Spotting the professor he said hello.. "Hi Professor McCormack, how are you doing?" he asked.. as he started to make his way over to his desk where his label was. |
Bart groaned and shuffled his self into the classroom. Really did they have to have classes. Wasn't just getting up in the morning winning enough! He needed his plant leo more than ever to carry him around to classes especially with the way his knee was. His mother told him they would see a special healer for it once he was home, but that was forever away. Stupid quidditch, stupid old. Shuffling his frog slippers into the classroom he gave professor history man a look. "Sup" and turned and headed for a desk, but wait. UGH name tags were they six? He looked around and found his name and took a seat. History dude didn't know him at all did he? Putting him in the front. This was turning out to not be his day. He hoped they could just smooth through the lesson quick and easy without getting up anymore. |
"Hi, Professor,'' Adi greeted the History of Magic man. He grinned. Yep, the aging stuff wasn't keeping this Puffer down! He looked around and noticed what was written on the board. Seat with name tag. Adi edged more into the room, looking for his seat. Oh look! There it was. He sat his old bones down, waiting for things to start moving along. |
Adrienne stumped into the classroom with an annoyed look on her face. She'd never particularly liked stairs, but now that every single step down took an age she was even more irked that the History of Magic classroom was six floors away from her beloved common room. It was great, really, but everything was so far away from it! She feared she'd never get to a class on time again, what with having to lean so heavily on the railing. Thankfully, though, she hadn't deteriorated so much as some of her classmates, and save for the odd wrinkle here and there she still looked mostly like herself. Unfortunately, internally she wasn't doing as well, and it took quite a bit of squinting and leaning in close to desks before she found the one with her nametag on it. Adrienne should have remembered where her seat was, as she took this class regularly, but somehow, though she knew she was by a window, her exact whereabouts were shrouded from her memory. She grunted at the professor by way of greeting and hobbled, admittedly somewhat exaggeratedly, to her seat. When were they going to start learning already? |
All she hoped for as she entered the History of Magic classroom was for NO lectures. Beverly honestly couldn't sit through those longer than half and hour at most. It's not because she thought the lesson was boring, but her body physically didn't let her. It sucked. Pausing at the entrance, she shot the professor a grin. "Good day, professor." He got 'good days' from her. Yes, yes. After being directed toward the board she set out to look for the desk with her name tag. Oh-oh. Thing was she'd forgotten where that was. Going up and down the aisles of desks, Bev searched for hers. It was until she reached the front that she found her name. Ha. Right. She likes sitting at the front. Makes sense it'd be there. Ha. No. |
Head nods to you Professor McCormack for giving us a good year, yes. Cutty entered the classroom and read the notice instructing him to take a seat where he found his name tag. He stepped to the front of the desks and chairs and inched his spectacles further up on his turtley face until he was able to focus enough to find his name. Squinting his eyes he'd found what he thought was the right seat and took it. Coulson Bradshaw may not have liked finding a little second year in his place. |
After what seemed like three hours after she'd left her Common Room Olly FINALLY arrived at the History of Magic classroom. FINALLY. She'd considered turning around about 5 times on the way here but then again this was the last lesson for the term. She should probably attend. Even if she wasn't particularly looking forward to it. Sometimes the lessons for subjects that interested you the most turn out to be the most disappointing. Giving the professor a nod in greeting, the 16 year old shuffled off to find the seat with her name tag. If it was in the way back of the classroom then she'd simply sit at a random desk. Luckily for her (or the rest of the students) Olly found her seat in the second row and dropped down into it. And if anyone complained about her wearing her pyjamas to class she'd kick them. |
Leah was somewhat excited for her last History of Magic lesson for the year. She had been expecting something fun despite not loving anything history-related. "Hello Professor McCormack." She greeted cheerfully. A swift look at the blackboard told the girl that they had been arranged seats. It was not difficult to find her seat and sit down. Leah silently tapped her foot on the ground. |
Now that the term was beginning to wind down, Ascanius was finding it harder and harder to feign interest in classes that were mostly lecture style. Or taught by male Professors. Those classes just didn't interest him as a rule. But he tried not to look too bored when he walked into the room. The sixth year didn't bother saying hello or addressing his Professor with a nod. Instead, he just walked to his seat that had his name on it and slid right in without much consequence. Could they start, yeah? |
Ella slowly made her way into the History of Magic classroom, hand supporting her lower back. Standing up straight was seriously hard, okay? Harder each day, actually. Was this a sign that she was going to be one of those hunched over old people? SIGH. She didn't want to spend the rest of her time looking at people's feet. How was she meant to observe their hair that way? UGH. Life was hard lately. SO hard. Managing a small smile, the Head Girl stopped on her way by the professor to greet him. "Hello Sir, hope you're well." Better than most of the people around here who were clearly not. Did he see their condition? Did he? Could they nap this lesson or? Hopeful looks, she'd be sending lots of those. After finding the seat with her name, Ella carefully lowered into it and let her bag fall to the floor. Once comfy, she sat back and waited for class to start. |
History of Magic. Marigold skipped into the classroom. Before she had come to Hogwarts, she had heard that HoM was the boringest class EVER. But she liked it. With a good professor and actual activities, a history class could be lots of fun. "Heya, professor!" she said, greeting him with a beaming face. HAI COOL PROF. She found her seat quickly and sat down. She fiddled a bit with her name tag. |
Sophie made her way to History of Magic...slowly, but surely. This wasn't her favorite class in the school, but it wasn't her least favorite either. She absolutely hated Ancient Runes and Arithmancy. It was like somebody somewhere had had mercy on them this school year and decided to cancel Arithmancy for one reason or another. She stepped into the room. "Hello, Professor," she said. She then made her way, still sloooooowly, to the desk with her name card on it. |
After what seemed like forever, Alec finally made his way along the first floor corridor and towards the History of Magic classroom. He had had every intention of turning around and not coming here today but... yeah. No. He couldn't do that. Not when he was planning on taking this NEWT. And not when a bad feeling settled into the pit of his stomach every time he even thought about heading somewhere else instead. Readjusting his grip on his bag, the Head Boy entered the classroom and scanned it quickly. There wasn't anything weird in the classroom which... was a good sign, right? Eyes landed on the McCormack and he smiled, walking further into the classroom. "Hello, Professor," he called, giving him a nod. ... Name tags? Shrug. The boy walked around, peering at the name tags on each desk and rubbing the bottom of his back as he went. The last thing he wanted was to have to sit all... the way... at the-- Name tag! Finally! He sat down, pulled out his writing equipment from his bag before letting the bag drop to the floor. There. Ready. |
As if life couldn't get any worse - it was time for HISTORY. Bleh. Caleb was usually an optimist but it was just so hard to get excited about anything these days, ya know? "Hello," he muttered as he took his seat, giving a little wave to his sister as he did so. He could tell that she was feeling just as lousy as he was. Who WASN'T feeling like they were on death's door in this school? |
History of Magic. A class that had the all likelihood of being a less than active lesson. At least Benny hoped for it to be. He didn't want to have to do anymore then he had to in learning whatever topic they would be focusing on this time. The last few classes of various subjects had been cruel to the point of over-exertions and the second year was ready for some simple lectures where only his brain had to be in use. The rest of his body relaxing into the chairs as he listened, took notes and possibly contributed. "Hello Professor," he greeted as he came into the classroom and spotted the man. Benny then looked for his name since he couldn't remember where it w---oh wait---there it was. The Gryffindor moving to take his seat so he could get off his feet. |
Ok. History of Magic, Taggart was here again. Yes he was. He thought McCormack was all right. You know, its not every day that your teacher allows their students to have s'mores' in their classroom. Granted they had been outside when that had happened but anyway... Tag stepped into the classroom and gave McCormack a nod as he passed by his desk while Tag tried to tag his name tag. He weaved in and out of the desks until he found his tag. YES! Still officially Taggart Kildare in this class. |
One thing that was bound to be a sign of a good day was a nametag lesson. The other is if he could nap in a lesson and that only happened once. But it was unintentional and he got blasted with water because of it. Nametags was the only reason he thought McCormack be pretty awesome. Besides the smores in last class. "Hello" Nigel greeted McCormarck before search through the desks eventually finding his awesome nametag. |
SPOILER!!: replies "Good morning class," Braith began, raising his voice slightly to catch everyone's attention and make sure to quiet any chatting that might have started since it was now time to begin. "Alright, let's get started today. I'm hoping to have a quick and easy lesson for our last one of the term, maybe get you all out of here early so you can go out and enjoy this nice Spring day." Or, you know, if they were able to. He was still awfully worried about most of them. But at any rate, McCormack thought they'd appreciate being let out early for end of term. "So I think we'll start of with a little discussion, maybe some questions, and hopefully have a fun with a little game at the end." Or at least that's what he planned. They could see how it went. Shouldn't be too difficult though. "Today's topic of choice," he continued, "Is the Philosopher's Stone. What do you know about it? One fact or thought per student please." And then they could reap a question or two from what they knew. He liked working it this way. Surely, this was something they had some knowledge about? Though they could always look through their book if necessary. Ok, class, go. |
Ian had been lost in thought, ready to return to the rocky outcroppings of the sea in his Northern Scottish home. He looked forward to the sea air, the smell of the sea and calls of the fishermen in the market as they sold the catches they returned with. It was a noisy cacophony of activity that he loved. Not that it wasn't that way here, but it was a different, more comfortable sound. When the professor asked the first question, Ian answered best he knew how. Sir, it was created jointly by Albus Dumbledore, previous headmaster here and Nicholas Flamel, an alchemist of some note. |
