Yup, Ira agreed with the general opinion that the Prince had his own selfish reasons.. Text Cut: Lafay Frowning a bit, Ira followed the instructions, and added the Seven Moly petals and let them float on the bubbling mixture. Then she measured out the salamander blood before tipping it over the pot, followed by ten Lionfish spines. Grabbing hold of the Unicorn horn, Ira grated it in her mortar, and then added it in. She then picked up the wolfbane stalk and dropped it too into her cauldron. Then she stirred the mixture 20 times counter-clockwise direction. Then leaving the mixture to simmer, she updated her potions journal. |
SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay Alyssa immediately sat up again when the Potions Profesor started speaking. She heaved a sigh of relief when Professor Lafay confirmed that the potion they were making was indeed Wiggenweld Potion. Then she picked up her quill and started writing down the next set of ingredients that the Professor had made appear on their tables, in her potions journal. Text Cut: Ingredients for Wiggenweld Potion Then she watched as the Professor demonstrated what they were supposed to do with the ingredients next, quickly writing the steps down in her journal. Text Cut: Potions Journal Then it was time for them to proceed with their own potions. Alyssa picked up the moly petals and dropped them into the cauldron letting the seven petals float on the boiling water. Then she picked up the cup of Salamander blood and poured the blood into the cauldron, before immediately picking up the 10 lionfish spines and adding that to the mixture in the cauldron. Taking out her wand she cleaned the grater using the "Scourgify" spell before she picked up the unicorn and started grating it over the cauldron, adding it to the boiling mixture. Once the unicorn horn was completely grated into the mixture, Alyssa added the wolfsbane in. She then picked up her wooden spoon and dipped it into the cauldron and started stirring the mixture counter clockwise, counting off as she stirred," 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20". Alyssa immediately stopped stirring, removed the wooden spoon from the cauldron and placed it on her worktable. Then she sat back and closely watched the potion brewing in the caudron, as it simmered. As she watched she reviewed the steps in her journal to make sure that she had completed the steps as directed by Professor Lafay. Text Cut: Potions Journal |
Potion trouble! SPOILER!!: Scabior! Glenn looked reproachingly at the Professor as he snorted. She was being serious about her answer. It wasn't funny. At the Professor's next comment, Glenn replied in a slightly hardened tone, "I guess like what she did with the Princess. Someone could make the potion and put make it prick some muggle and the muggles around would think they had fallen into some kind of coma..." The badger answered the next question, "Well - he loved her, right?" She questioned, "He would want to save her." SPOILER!!: Lafay The blonde picked up the seven petals and plopped them inside her cauldron where they floated on the top of her potion. She then poured the blood into the mix as well. Ugh. She grated the Unicorn horn over the cauldron and then added the Wolfsbane. The badger picked up her wooden spoon and began stirring her potion counter-clockwise. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven... Glenn counted inside her head. Very soon, she lost count. Had she done twenty yet? Nineteen? She chewed on her lip as she paused stirring and watched the fumes above her potion turn a sickly green. She drew her spoon from her potion and tried to hide the fumes from the professor by trying to cover the potion with her, not nearly large enough, body. |

And I spent a bit staring at your sig, Dani. xD Text Cut: Professor Scabior As Professor Scabior had basically given a response to everyone other than herself, only deigning to give her a nod as if to acknowledge he'd heard her but had nothing else to say, Stella's heart had sunk. Maybe she'd been so off that he couldn't even think of a way to insult her answer, because he basically had done that to some of the others. It was discouraging, but at least she could prove herself to Professor Lafay. She hadn't messed up her potion yet, after all, but that became more of a question as she'd heard Professor Scabior say her name after clearing his throat. Looking up from her cauldron, she blinked as he'd continued speaking. Obviously setting up another mini-lecture, but he'd said she'd been right. Not only that, but he'd quoted part of what she'd said while she'd been thinking about how much she disliked what Leticia the Hag had done. He never did that. Usually he insulted people if they'd said something intelligent. She was definitely paying attention now, in any case, as he'd gone on to discuss the wizard who had saved the princess, and Leticia's mistake. Points taken from the hag, obviously, if she'd honestly thought that nobody else would have known about the Draught of Living Death. It seemed to her like the wizard had himself been hiding, though. It didn't seem like anyone in the castle had thought of potions. Curses and magic, but nobody had thought of the potion, or to brew the antidote. And she found her hand raising almost involuntarily. "Was anyone else actually magical in the situation? Isn't it possible that Leticia had thought she'd be able to get away with her plan because she'd thought that she was the only magical being around? Some muggles believe in magic, but they don't understand that it's real, after all." There wouldn't have been the need for the Statute if they thought it was all real. "The wizard might have been living amongst Muggles, even royalty, thinking that there wasn't anyone else who had the skills he did. he'd pick up on the suspiciousness of the situation because he would have known about the Draught of Living Death. Saving the princess could mean that he wouldn't have to live in hiding anymore. Technically." Even if he had to pass his kiss off as true love conquering all, he still would have the knowledge that his magic had saved the princess. And she could assume the wizard knew enough to work with what he had in front of him, spin his story to his benefit. Quote:

Blood was just not something she liked to look at, and she'd prefer not to think too much about it being a potion ingredient either. Just in case they were going to have to test their potions still. Instead, she just focused on the lionfish spines, picking them up in her other hand dropping them into the potion as she set the now-empty cup down again. Of course, now was another step she felt a bit squeamish about, simply because of her Patronus. It wasn't like that unicorn had a horn that could be harvested, though, so she just picked up the physical horn provided and her grater, grating the horn into the potion before she could think about it. She couldn't help but be glad once that was complete, however, and happily moved on to the wolfsbane. Adding it, she picked up her stirrer again and Scourgified it a second time to be safe before putting it back into her cauldron and starting to stir counter-clockwise. One, two, three, four... ten, eleven, twelve... seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty, she counted in her head as she stirred, one count per circle. She didn't think they needed to count aloud, and she would have felt odd doing so anyway. She was happy once she'd finished the twentieth stir, though, and withdrew her stirrer again as she stretched her fingers out again. She was definitely glad they didn't have to stir more than twenty times, and she could just sit back and let the potion simmer as she waited to see what was going to happen with the other part of the lesson again. SPOILER!!: HoM Ella frowned. There were probably many reasons a wizard would want to save a princess. "Well maybe he had a hero complex..." The first year had done it again, said the first thing that came to mind. She looked at Professor Scabior sheepishly, knowing this wasn't a great answer. It was a thing though right? The hero complex...Ella's mom was always saying that her dad had one...liked to save people and all that. SPOILER!!: Potions Oh they were brewing the antidote. That was pretty cool. Looking at the new ingredients on the table, Ella got back into potions mode. She took the seven Moly petals and dropped them in to the potion, thinking they looked quite nice just floating on the top placidly. Next came the cup of salamander blood...ICK. And then the first year was quickly adding the Lionfish spines. "1...2..3..4..5...6..7...8..9..10." Picking up the grater and cleaning it, Ella then began grating the unicorn horn directly over the cauldron. Finally, she added the Wolfsbane. Picking up her stirrer again and cleaning it, Ella began the counter clock wise motion. "1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8.9..10..11..12..13..14..15. .16..17..18..19..20." Now to let it simmer. |

"Now. You have one ingredient left before you. The glass of Boom Berry Juice. It was left out close to your cauldron so it no longer has a chill... Now it's not supposed to be hot, just a little warm. It needs to be so that it isn't cold at all." She said and lifted her own glass. "It's a rather sweet/tart juice, which makes it amazing to linger on the lips. You may take a spoonful and taste it if you wish. Then proceed in turning off the burner under the cauldron and adding the juice." |
SPOILER!!: Love Answers SPOILER!!: Hero Complex SPOILER!!: Everyone Else Scabior smiled, an actual pleasant smile. He was shocked, and at the same time, proud of most of their answers. Excellent little cynical students they were. At least for now. "Most of you got it. The Wizard basically saved the Princess to get something out of it. He thought, if his hunch was right then he would get paid for saving her. And if his hunch was wrong, at least he would have been able to say he kissed the Princess. He had lived as a normal citizen under the King and Queen but once he saved the Princess he made something up about how he did it, and received piles of gold, and was knighted." Moral of the story, always save people if they are rich. But seriously. "Leticia Somnolens was never heard from again, but it has been rumoured that she accidentally pricked herself on another item laced with poison intended for the Princess once more, and died." Karma was an amazing thing. "And, I would say that this event is probably the most thought of when both The Draught of Living Death and The Wiggenweld Potion is mentioned in the Wizarding world.....so that's all." He stuffed his hands in his pocked before turning to Hecate. Yes. Scabior was done his part of the lesson. |
Alyssa didn't want to agree with Professor's reasoning for why the wizard saved the princess but she had to sadly admit that most people tended to think about the benefits and rewards they works reap now, as opposed to doing it for more romantic reasons, like love. It seemed that the History of Magic Professor was done with his portion of the lesson but since they still had their potion brewing in the cauldron, Alyssa continued to keep watch over it as it simmered and waited for further instructions from Professor Lafay. |
Text Cut: Lafay Finally! Last ingredient! It was Boom Berry juice! Hehe.. the name was like.. funny! Boom Berry Boom! Hehe! Ira thought to herself and giggled slightly. Anyways, she followed instructions. She too lifted her own glass of Boom Berry Juice, which felt comfortably warm in her hands. They could really taste it? Meaning, was it edible? Oh no, Ira didn't want to risk it. But her curiosity got better of her. So taking a spoon laying on her table, she poured some Juice and took half a spoonful carefully. Yup, as Professor had said, it was rather sweet, and somehow felt funny.. Nope, Ira did not like it. So she made a face at it, and then again quickly turned er attention to her journal, hoping that Professor hadn't seen her make a face. Then she turned off the burner under the cauldron and added the juice as instructed. Text Cut: Scabior Hehe.. So it was like an eye for an eye.. The evil hag had died of her own medicine, or say, poison, Eh? |
Selina turned off the burner carefully and then added the juice that she was instructed to add. To be honest, Selina was not going to take any chances with this last bit. So far things seemed to be going well enough for her, sure her potion was kind of off color, but that was brilliant for Selina. However, when Lafay suggested that they take a spoonful of the juice Selina cringed. She was not tasting anything dealing with potions. Merlin forbid... it would only end badly. |
Oops didn't see Droo's post hiding in there. SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay Alyssa was so busy listening to Professor Scabior that she had forgotten that Professor Lafay had already given them the instructions on what they needed to do with the Boom Berry Juice. She picked up the glass and noticed that it was indeed a little warmer than what it was earlier. She picked up a spoon, took out her wand and cleaned the spoon using the "Scourgify" spell again before holstering her wand. She dipped the spoon into the glass of Boom Berry juice and scooped out a dropful. She then brought it to her lips, stuck out her tongue and tasted it. It tasted a little like berry juice. Putting down the spoon, Alyssa then leaned down and turned off the burner under her cauldron, before pouring the glass of juice into the cauldron, adding it to her potion. Then she picked up her quill and added the steps into her potions journal. Text Cut: Potions Journal Now that there were no longer anymore ingredients left on her worktable, Alyssa updated her ingredients list too. Text Cut: Ingredients for Wiggenweld Potion Once she was done writing, she lay down her quill and sat back and waited for further instructions. |

SPOILER!!: Potions Ella looked at the Boom Berry Juice curiously. As the Professor talked, she touched her right hand lightly to the cup, feeling for the temperature. Yup, it was quite warm at the moment. Her eyebrows raised a little when the students were told they could try a spoonful of the juice. Ella would definitely do that. Pulling a spoon towards her and cleaning it, she carefully scooped up a spoonful of Boom Berry Juice and into her mouth. YUM! It was delicious and made her lips feel all tingly. Ella placed the spoon back on the table and cleaned it once again, setting it aside. Reaching carefully, the first year then turned off the burner under the cauldron. Then, she added the Boom Berry Juice, pouring it carefully into the mixture. SPOILER!!: HoM Ella rolled her eyes. This guy, the hero or whatever, well he sounded like a real meany. As for this Leticia lady, well Ella didn't feel bad for her at all. If she did really get poisened, it was karma for doing something so evil. When Professor Scabior finished, Ella sat back and smiled. It was oddly satisfying to hear that there was some truth behind the tale she had heard so many times as a child...though the whole prince charming bit had been completely ruined. |

Then he looked around for the unicorn horn, finding it next to an empty container from a previous ingrediant and grating it over the cauldron. Last but not least...the wolfsbane. Gideon carefully added it to the brewing potion. Then with his stirring rod, he stired the combination 20 times counterclockwise. 1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10...11...12.. .13...14...15...16...17...18...19...20 Now to let it simmer. Quote:

Both professors are in here, I'm just not separating the quotes anymore Text Cut: ze professors Stella had almost forgotten about the glass of juice Professor Lafay had conjured earlier, even though she'd written it down in her journal as a potion ingredient. For that matter, glancing over her list, this potion had a significantly larger amount of ingredients than most of the others they'd brewed this term, or even last term as well. Maybe it wasn't as unbelievable that she would have forgotten, but now that it had been mentioned again she reached over and slid the glass nearer to herself. It was definitely warm. Maybe just above room temperature, but she couldn't help but take a tiny spoonful to taste. It was definitely sweet, not as tart as pomegranate juice. Maybe raspberries. Either way, it wasn't important, seeing as she had to just add it to her cauldron. First, though, she had to douse the flame underneath, and she took her wand out and flicked it carefully to lower the flame and then let it go out. Just in case, she hadn't wanted to shock the potion by letting the flame go out too quickly, not wanting to mess things up after everything else had gone fine. After the flame was out, though, she picked the glass of juice up and carefully poured it inside the cauldron as directed. Just in time to hear Professor Scabior speak again, bringing the HoM discussion back to the forefront of the lesson. At least it didn't seem like there was much else to the potion. Well, at least I know he's not that different from usual, she thought, as he'd said there were flaws in her logic. There went any tiny bits of feeling special. She hadn't said she was positive about that part anyway, and he still basically said she was at least possibly correct insofar as the idea the wizard was the only one in the area at the time. Plus, the idea that the wizard had done it to make his own life much better was apparently true. She didn't think Leticia the Hag was stupid enough to poison herself, anyway. She wasn't going to say it, but she figured it was more likely the hag had just left to go somewhere else that was safer. Somewhere she wasn't known. Just because she didn't like the hag didn't mean she thought she should have killed herself, after all. Evil people rarely gave up that easily, in her opinion. SPOILER!!: Stella's Potions journal |
She smiled at Dash and said "The wizard was a Slytherin no doubt." She conjured a container with clean paint brushes. "Partner up. One of you touch the spindle, it's coated in the Draught of Living Death, you will sleep immediatly. Your partner should take a paint brush, dip it in the wiggenweld potion and then apply it to your lips. If the potion was made correctly, you will wake... if it isn't..." She smirked and then realized Dash was still there... "I guess your partner can use my potion." She pointed in the general direction of the class. "No kissing!" ooc: You have 24 hours from the time of this post to complete this. We will close the thread then. |
Anybody want to partner me? SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay Alyssa sat up and almost groaned in dismay when she heard Professor Lafay say that they had to partner up with somebody to try out the potion. She looked around and called out...but not too loud that she would upset either Professors. "Anybody want to partner up with me...PLEASE?" Alyssa asked around. |
Partner needed! Text Cut: Droo More wand waving meant more ingredients, which Sierra quickly scooped up and began to work with. She let the seven moly petals float on the water then added the cup of salamander blood. Right afterwards, she added in the ten lionfish spines, as well. Whew, they were moving along quickly now. Too bad for anybody who was terrible at Potions. Sierra grated the unicorn horn over the cauldron then added n the final ingredient--wolfsbane. After stirring twenty times counter-clockwise, she sat back and let it simmer. Text Cut: Droo Seeing as Sierra was starting to get a little behind, she skipped on tasting the boom berry juice. She went right on into turning off the burner under the cauldron and adding in the juice. Text Cut: Droo Sierra looked up at Lafay and smirked at the sound of her next comment. Of course the wizard was a Slytherin. But then...partner up?! Sierra hated partnering up. It called for being nice and getting along with another human being, and that wasn't exactly easy for her. Nevertheless, she sighed and looked around the room. "So who wants to partner up?" she asked. |
SPOILER!!: Sierra Alyssa looked up when she heard Sierra ask whether anyone wanted to partner up. She hadn't said much to Sierra all term, but she was willing to work with her, so she walked up to her. "Uh Sierra, I am also looking for a partner. If you don't mind, can I partner up with you?" Alyssa asked the older Slytherin student. She was sure that Sierra would just turn around and walk away, but Alyssa was willing to risk asking anyway. |
