Minerva smiled reassuring to William then turned to her snake. "Ready to be a stick again?"

"Raven, Kennedy! Brilliant. If you two could just come up here for me, and I'll hold Sidney out for you to do the spell. I'll let you decided which of you goes first."

She groaned a little under the weight of the snake, as she moved from around her shoulders and held it out in front of her. "Raven you get the walking stick spell, Kennedy the worm." In case they didn't remember. "Just....aim for the snake."

Raven stood up besides Kennedy with no nervous feeling. She took her wand from the holster and casted the spell.

"Suc-cur-ro PED-es!""

WHOAAAAA

She could transform the boa into a snake walking stick!!

Well done, Raven!!

Seeing that Kennedy had volunteered, Kurumi smiled as she watched him make his way to the front...until Professor Magnus said that others could volunteer on the KINDOFADORABLE!boa. "I'd like to give it a go after Kennedy," Kurumi said, raising her hand while she stood up.

She walked behind Kennedy and patted his shoulder encouragingly...and then realized that her SUPERADORABLE!snake was still wrapped around her finger. Well...it wasn't her wand hand, so she supposed it was alright. Besides, the little guy looked really happy there.

"You are more than welcome to. Just stand there next to Sierra so these guys have enough room," Isabelle smiled at the prefect. They'd be alright next to each other, right? She sometimes got the feeling there was some tension there.

But anyway, back to the spell work.

... Kennedy had not expected that. He was usually ignored at his muggle school. He stood up and was torn between leaving Charlie the snake at his desk or take it with him. He decided to take it along with him, Kennedy didn't want Charlie to slither off somewhere and get lost.

"I hope it's okay if I go first," he said as he made his way to the front. He had Charlie wrapped around his left arm and with his right hand he gripped his wand.

He was ready when...

... Someone patted him on his shoulder.

He looked back and saw that it was Kurumi and his face turned red. That's when he realized that he was in front of an audience.

O_________O

Oh boy...Oh gosh...

He nodded at her with a nervous smile and turned back to Professor Magnus. He wasn't used to being the center of attention. Right about now he was asking himself why he even volunteered. What if he failed? Would his classmates laugh at him? What if he blew up the snake. Oh gosh. He took a deep breath and mentally reprimanded himself for being so paranoid.

Take a deep breath, Escalante.

He did just that and cleared his mind, forgetting about the crowd, about all those eyes staring at him, everything, except his intent which was turning this boa into a worm. His wand movement began from the bottom and went up diagonally, left to right, then straight down and said, "AMPLUS VERMIS VERTO!" He had the urge to close his eyes to not see his result, but didn't. He saw as the snake slightly twitched its tail, which frightened Kennedy, then its size began to reduce and reduce and reduce.

The snake, now worm, wasn't as small as Charlie the snake had been, but it was a worm nonetheless.

He looked up at Professor Magnus with a very wide smile. He was feeling as light as feather. He did it and without blowing up the snake. "What do you think?" he asked. Okay, the worm wasn't as small as a regular worm would be, but it was a worm and that's what mattered, right?

Isabelle wanted to close her eyes, seeing as the spell was more or less being aimed in her direction - but she was the adult here, she had to make sure he did it right. So her eyes flicked from the target to the caster and back again, as Kennedy got ready himself ready.

As the light came out of his wand and hit Sidney, Issy could feel him start to shrink. She had the good sense, as you would expect, to make sure her hands went with him and he didn't fall through a gap in them. In the end the snake, while not really being the same size as a regular worm, certainly looked like one.

Beaming at Kennedy, Isabelle nodded her head. "Very well done! Getting the right size for it to look natural will come with more practice, but that's great for a first go." Holding Sidney in her left hand, she turned so he was half resting on the front of her desk. Pointing her wand at him, Issy changed him back into his usual Boa form, ready for the next one.

She was going to have some muscles after this. Even more so if more than the four kids wanted a go at it. Heaving Sidney back in front of her, Issy held in so Raven could try. And try she did.

"That is a good use of the snakes features," Isabelle said, ever so slightly impressed as Sid shrunk a bit and bent into a snake shaped walking stick. "As Raven has demonstrated," she said to the rest of the class, "You don't need to alter the look of it that much when you change it into the stick!"

Issy let a couple of minutes pass from the time she changed him back to the time she address Sierra and Kurumi. She didn't want poor Sid to go through too many changes in such a little time without a break in between. "Alright you two, who wants to go first?"

OOC: Those of you who won't be practising on the big snake can still do so on your smaller ones! Class will close tomorrow evening sometime, GMT.

Minerva moved her wand again north and south "Succurro pedes" Her cute little snake turned back into the walking stick. Then Minerva said "Reverto"

"Thank you Professor Magnus." said Raven glad. At first, she thought that Why not she transform it into snake-shaped walking stick like her fathers?

"Ehm, Could I back to my seat, Professor?" she remembered that she haven't reconvert the walking stick on her desk into a corn snake again..

D'OH!!

MadAlice 11-17-2011 06:33 PM

Violet watched the other students work on the big snake for a minute, then decided there were too many volunteers now for anyone else to have a chance--they didn't want to wear the poor snake out! So she turned back to her desk and her smaller green snake (who she had named 'Nigel') and decided to have another go at turning him into a walking stick again, this time using the head and fangs to form the top of the cane--that would look pretty sophisticated (and a bit creepy!)

She did the up-down-up wand movement again, then said: "Succoro Pedes!", and was pleased to see Nigel rearrange himself into just the sort of walking stick she had visualized. She picked it up and held it experimentally for a while, feeling how stiff and substantial it felt--if you didn't know, you would never guess it was a real snake. After a while, she went to find an older student to turn it back for her (though she was itching to try that other spell herself by now--still, she didn't want to get in trouble for skipping ahead; maybe she'd try it later outside of class...)

Kennedy felt a wave of relief as Professor Magnus complimented him. He didn't get the size right, but he was almost there. "Thank you," he said, bashfully as his cheeks blushed. He nodded, more practice was needed and now he had the confidence to do it.

He beamed at Professor Magnus and then returned to his seat, with Charlie still wrapped around his left wrist. He looked at it meaningfully... Oh yeah, he was going to turn it a worm again.

Lilly picked up a sweet little green snake. She didn't really want to transfigure the liitle guy, but, oh well.
Lilly held him in front of her, making sure it didn't wriggle away. "Succoro Pedes," she muttered, waving her wand. To her suprise it actually worked. In front of her was a walking stick, that was sort of like...snakelike. It had a snakehead at the top. She wasn't that great at transfiguration like Rose was.

Harvey went back to trying to turn his little fella in to a walking stick "Suc-cur-ro PED-es!" he then did the wand movement north to south and watched as his snake turned into a walking stick. He looked at the hook, somehow he could still see the snake head even though it looked to be a normal stick "Reverto!" he pointed at the stick and it was a snake again. He looked the snake over, he looked fine. He was glad otherwise he would have had to explain to the professor why there was one less snake being returned to her. Ooo not a nice thought.

William used his wand north to south, north to south, north to south a third time William calls out "Reverto" It id back to a snake again. Shudder. One more time Willaim moves hod esnd three times from north to south and calls out this spell " Su-cur-ro
PED -es". The snake is a walking stick again. Thank you.

Merlin....Kurumi hadn't meant to freak Kennedy out. She knew that he was just as nervous about these things as she was. They had been a mild disaster during Dueling Club when they had been partners after all - neither one really wanting to throw spells at the other but doing so anyway.

She stood next to Sierra, well...there was a decent gap between the two of them to be completely honest, and watched as Kennedy performed the spell, offering him a small golf clap and a bright smile. See, he had been just fine.

Kurumi looked at Sid, studied his features a bit and tried to imagine him as a worm...hopefully not a giant worm because that would certainly be frightening. What if after the fourth year had performed the spell its appearance only changed, and not its size? Well, Professor Bentley could probably use a giant worm like that in her greenhouses. It would get the job done much quicker than a bunch of little worms squirming around the soil, but she was getting ahead of herself.

"I'll go next," she said, raising her hand and taking a small step forward, her wand in her wand hand and her SUPERADORABLE!snake still wrapped around her index finger on her other. A few thoughts ran through Kurumi's mind - and none of them were related to Transfiguration really, at least not the task at hand. One thought was...did Professor Magnus have an interest in snakes? She certainly had shown that she had at least two as pets. Perhaps she did some snake charming on the side? The other way...they still didn't know what had happened to Professor Magnus' eraser...

She twirled her wand around once in her hand and looked at the snake, a small smile curling her lips. Nope, this one was NOT going to melt either. Closing her eyes for a moment, Kurumi envisioned an earthworm hanging around Professor Magnus' neck. She tried to imagine the color, how there was a slight gradient effect between a muggy brown color and a deeper redish brown. The way that there were ridges around its body and the creepy way that the creatures squirmed.

When she had the a strong enough image in her head, her violet eyes snapped open and she took a small step forward, pivoting slightly to the left. Slowly, but with purpose, Kurumi traced her wand left to right, from the bottom to the top, in a diagonal line, then straight down.... "Amp-lus Verm-is Verto!"

Things happened in almost the blink of an eye - a really slow blink. The boa's body appeared to have been sucked in as if it were being sucked up by a vacuum, becoming very thin but its length not changing at all. The next to change was its color and finally...that pretty head of its was gone, leaving the snake with that creepy eyeless one of a worm. Kurumi...sort of went into a state of shock when she saw the results of her spellwork. Yes...the snake was now a worm...but she really shouldn't have had that thought of a giant worm around Professor Magnus' shoulders, because that was EXACTLY what had happened.

Bazinga 11-18-2011 02:50 AM

Minerva had changed the snake to a walking stick and back again a few times. She decided to give the snake a break so she sat playing with it. She imagined turning it into a worm and smiled. She couldn't wait until she would be able to do the spell the older students were doing. She was having so much fun with the snake.

Just as Sierra stepped forward to claim her turn with the snake, Hollingberry spoke up with her big mouth and stole the moment. Sierra pursed her lips together and drew in a sigh. Did Hollingberry ever shut up?! As in, even for just a second?! Sierra moved back to where she'd been standing before and waited for Hollingberry to take her turn.

At least the girl wasn't asking any questions. That had to be a first. The seconds ticked on, and before long, Hollingberry was finished. Sierra stared at the snake, or whatever it was, with wide, startled eyes. It was--a huge worm. Really, Kurumi?! Leave it to her to steal yet another moment. Sierra couldn't exactly work with the snake now...

OOC: Sarah, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take my turn, or if I needed to wait since Kurumi still had the snake...and had made it gigantic. :xd:

And it seemed Kurumi was going to go first, although Sierra didn't look too happy about it. But she would get her turn - in a few minutes. Or maybe longer, because the prefect certainly seemed to be studying the snake like she was meant to. Isabelle had asked them all to do it at the beginning of the lesson, when they picked up their corn snakes. She was glad that someone had listened.

The result of the eventual spell casting, though, was not quite what she was expecting. Issy could feel Sid slowly start to get thinner around her neck - but then he...stopped. Holding up his tail in her right hand, Issy's eyes went wide. "Sweet mother of....Merlin," she muttered, looking down at both ends of the thing hanging across her shoulders. Well, ummm, you know. At least it was a worm, right? "Uhh, well done, Kurumi. As I said with Kennedy, maybe practice a bit more to get the sizing right..."

She could have stared at it a while longer, but it was time for Sierra to have her turn. Turning around and resting the REALLY big worm on her desk again, Issy changed Sid back to his usual self. Which wasn't much different in size, to be honest. Wrapping him back around her shoulders she faced the Slytherin, but addressed the class. "Okay everyone, once Sierra has had her turn with Sidney, class will be over. So please return ALL the snakes to the tanks when she is finished! Thank you."

Smiling at Sierra, she nodded that she was ready. "Off you go."

OOC: You could have done, I wouldn't have minded. :P

When the snake was finally back to normal, Sierra nodded once toward the professor then stepped up to take her turn. Once she had the snake, she held it just as she'd held the one she'd worked with earlier. This snake, of course, was no corn snake, but it didn't really bother Sierra. She was, as she'd thought before, one and the same with snakes.

She pointed her wand straight forward and then moved it from north to south. "Succurro Pedes!" The snake lengthened the proceeded to stiffen, just as she'd hoped it would. It wouldn't do to get up in front of the class and fail like Hollingberry had. Ha. A moment later, the snake began to curve a bit to form a handle. Sierra grabbed it by the handle and held it up to get a good look at it.

...and now it was time to turn everything back around. She pointed her wand at the stick and said, "Reverto!" The stick began shifting back into the shape of a snake. Once the snake was back to normal, Sierra got a good, proper hold on it then handed it back to the professor. "There, just as he was before," she said. Or so it seemed.

Jason Potter Weasley 11-18-2011 06:28 PM

William got his wand out one final time. He moved it from north to south, north to south and north to south again. " William called out " Reverto" and the walking stick is now a snake again. William put it back. Hallejuah, this class is finally over.

Alyssa was stroking Mr. Bean, when she heard Professor Magnus announce that class was over. So she walked back up the glass tank and placed the snake back with the other snakes."Here you are my friend. Back where you belong, safe and sound. It was nice working with you."

Alyssa then packed up her things and approached the Professor. "Thank you for another interesting lesson, Professor Magnus." Alyssa said giving the Professor a smile before leaving the classroom.

Violet had turned her snake back and forth from snake to walking stick to snake again about three or four times, and then decided that was quite enough for any small snake (or any small First Year, for that matter). She was now standing by a table stroking Nigel under his chin in a particular place she had discovered made him close his eyes and all but purr, when she suddenly heard the teacher announce that the class was nearly over. Thank Merlin, she was thoroughly bored with walking sticks by now (though she had become quite fond of her snake). Sighing, she picked him up and let him wind around her wrist one more time as she carried him back to the front of the class to join his fellows.

Bazinga 11-18-2011 08:45 PM

Minerva frowned she didn't want to see the class end. She walked slowly to the front of the room taking the snake back. She placed the snake in the tank he looked at Professor Magnus. "Do you need any help taking these to where ever you had them?"

Nate sighed aloud. "Well Salazar, looks like we have to part ways soon. Have a good life as a legless reptile!"
"Sssss." hissed Salazar.
Nate picked up the snake and let it coil around his hands, absorbing his human warmth. "I need to get a snake..." Nate said to himself dreamily, playing with Salazar and looking aimlessly into the distance.

Harvey heard that they had to pack up now. So he picked up his new cold-blooded friend "Sorry lil fella, but you gotta go back in with your other friends." he said as he walked up to the tank and put him in. He then turned to the Professor. "Thank you very much Professor for this fantastic lesson! I cant wait for next year now. Have a good summer holiday Professor." he said smiling.

Victoria blinked the sunlight from outside out of her eyes. Return the snakes already? Victoria barely had anytime to try. She was too busy looking at others transformations, which she shouldn't have done. Victoria is too easily distracted.

Maybe one quick spell! Just one! And it's going to be quick!

Victoria pointed her wand at the snake in front of her and said, "Amplus Vermis Verto!" Slowly, the snake's slender body started to shrink...but after only a few seconds, the process stopped, leaving the snake only a few inches shorter but still as wide.

To Victoria, it looked like an overweight snake.

Of course, she didn't expect her to get it at first try. Now she has to return the snake, Victoria felt bitter that she only got chance to get only one try. But after all, it was Victoria herself that had made this decision on getting distracted.

Victoria returned her snake back to the professor.

Granger1814 11-18-2011 10:42 PM

Kourtney watched the two older girls perform the spell to turn the snake into a worm, and then to a walking stick. Impressive. Though Kurumi often was successful in her attempts at magic, so that was no surprise.

Oh...and she had just started to become comfortable with Snakey. Lightly frowning, Kourt slipped the snake back into the tank.. Maybe she could get one of those as a pet. They seemed friendly enough.

The young Gryffindor hitched her bag onto her shoulder and waved goodbye to the professor. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor!"
