Staff Table The staff are seated at a long table stretching across a dais at the front of the room. Feel free to come up and greet them after the feast has started. The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear. Click Picture To Enlarge . |
Hecate sat at the table looking down in her chalice, swirling the liquid in the cup. She watched the fluid dance on the sides of the pewter, sparkling and retrieving as the mass moved. She gave one big sigh and took a sip. Another year... another galleon... |
Chad took his seat at the staff table, eyebrow raised at the slight chaos amongst the silverware. Weird. Before he leaned back in his seat, Chad took a few moments to get his silverware and whatnot all together and neat. Ah, there. Muuuch better. |
Althea had parted ways with Eddie after the train, showing him where his quarters were and then heading to freshen up herself before arriving at the Great Hall. Not late of course, oh no. The students were still pouring in, and from what she could see the majority of her colleagues hadn't arrived yet either. She pursed her lips and then took a seat, tidily making herself comfortable, sitting straight and ladylike and looking about the hall, a slight frown on her face. |
What in the world was going on at the Slytherin table. She was not in any mood to deal with food fights. She was not in any mood to deal with unruly students... She was not going to have her students reprimanded by one of the new professor. She stood and made her way to the her house's table. |
With more confidence than she had ever had in the past, Kurumi made her way towards the staff table hoping to speak with Madam Donovan especially. But, first things first, she ought to greet firstly with Headmaster Tate and deliver her yearly batch of cookies. She had decide to not go with House cookies this year, and had gone for the more non-magical perspective of baking cookies in the shape of crayons of various colors. As she approached the table, she saw many new faces, but at least Professors Hadley and Bentley were still there. She did frown a bit when it was confirmed that Professor MacFusty would not be returning. She really needed him, especially after the stunt Walnut had tried to pull on the train. "Good evening, Headmaster, Professors," Kurumi said with a slight bow - and just in time for Professor Lafay to leave the table. Well, that made her feel a little less awkward. She set the white box on the table. |
Tegz. Mostly. Josephina had just been sorting through some photos of her time in Mexico when she realized the time. Students would be pouring into the castle at any moment and she was totally not prepared. Haphazardly tossing her photos to the side of her desk, she quickly freshened up her appearance before sliding down to the Great Hall. Fortunately she wasn't late as students were still filing in and even still getting sorted! Taking her customary seat, second from the end, she noticed there were only a couple of faces at the staff table - Hecate and Chad and one of the new professor hires too, from the looks of it. Scratching her ear, Fina wondered whether this was the Blacksmith or the woman with child. The woman didn't look to be so egotistical as to refuse her surname, nor did she seem like the type to be a fan of vampires. Bookbinder was possible though. Her thoughts were getting ahead of herself though, as she suddenly realized she'd been staring for far longer than appropriate. "Oh sorry. I zoned out there for a moment," she mused. "Josephina Hadley, Arithmancy Professor. And you are?" She'd find out in a moment which one she was that the prophet was talking about. |
The train ride in Althea's company had been wonderful and eventful, they had had several visits from curious students. After being shown to the Astronomy tower and all his other possessions they parted ways. Now Eddie walked into the Great Hall after changing clothes and giving his unpredictable kneazle a toy to play with. Heading up to the dias he went past the four student tables milling with students. Sitting down in his assigned seat, next to a brunette woman (Josephina) Edvard frowned. All the silverware was filthy and tarnished. Taking up a chalice he inspected it, at least that was clean or something close to it. Looking at the brown haired woman's set of silverware he calmly said "You might want to inspect your silverware. Mine is filthy and tarnished." |

She brightened when Eddie showed up, and gave him a quick smile of welcome. |
As he made his way over to the staff table, Everett let out a sigh of relief. The man had been somewhat worried that he had shown up late for the feast. After changing into robes that were more suited he had ended up getting distracted when he started to unpack robe after robe. And really he had just lost track of time. But as he finally took his seat at the staff table (after giving some of his colleagues a small nod) he noticed that children were still entering the hall. Everett leaned back in the chair, raising a brow at the student who had just arrived. Hello? His attention quickly fell onto the silverware in front of him. Did someone forget to wash up from the closing feast? |
For lots of people XD Ahh at last! The start of term feast... was she late? She hoped she wasn't, but if she was it wasn't her fault. The greenhouses had been in a shamble, almost as if it had been untouched since she left. Lucky she had returned a week early otherwise the students would have a serious bit of work to do to get things back into some state of order. But that’s what she was here for. Seren was her cheerful self, though she was slightly pre-occupied as she made her way along the length of the staff table toward her seat. "Edvard, Fina..." she greeted brightly offering them her usual sun-shine bright smile. Oh and another new staff member! (Althea) ... In Jared's seat, how sad. "Welcome," she greeted with a nod. "Chad," she nodded. Spotting the ever lovely Gryffindor resident cookie baker, Seren couldn't help but clap her hands in excitement. She loved cookies. "Miss Hollingberry, congratulations on your new position," she said with a wink. She couldn't think of anyone better to fill the position of Gryffindor Prefect, she was a worthy student indeed. Taking her seat and promptly filling her chalice with some fresh pumpkin juice, she was about to take a sip when.... "Merlin! ... is that?.... what is that?!" she eyed the chalice closely. It looked like it hadn't been washed, and whatever was dried to it did not look appealing in the least. She abandoned it, frowning slightly. Looking up she only then realised she was seated next to a new face. "Oh my..." she said taken by surprise. Where was Gemma? "So sorry, I'm Seren Bentley, resident herbologist," she said cheerfully again, extending her hand. |

"Well, that's odd. It wasn't like this at the end of last year." Someone must have been slacking over the summer. "So you must be the new Astronomy Professor..." Fina stated though, more than asked. He was probably the vampire fan too. He seemed quiet enough. Quote:

Charms though, which would mean ... "So you're the Blacksmith the Prophet mentioned then?" Hopefully. |

Of course, Althea had no idea who was new and who wasn't, aside from herself and Eddie. She smiled briefly in greeting, but otherwise remained decidedly aloof. Quote:
Another cool smile of acknowledgement. Thea would do names later rather than shout them across the table. Quote:

and others too <3 Quote:
Now what? She couldn't just stand there looking awkward. That would make her look even more ridiculous than she already felt. Not to mention the swaying she was doing wasn't helping. "Good evening." She wanted to smack her forehead. She had already said that. "My name is Kurumi Hollingberry, forth year Gryffindor." Quote:
Kurumi had only been at the table for a few minutes and there were professors already raising their eyebrows at her. Not good...not good at all. She bowed her head to him. Quote:

Mm those cookies looked delicious... and there was no food yet... It wouldn't be too naughty to have one would it? Huh? "Summer?... Oh yes! A brilliant summer, very busy, but that's just the way I like it." Though she could have done without the pep-talk from her mother, honestly, she was a grown woman and could do what she liked with her life. "I trust you enjoyed yours?" What student didn't enjoy their holidays?... silly question really. |

He had been staring at the student tables and taking notice to the other end of the staff table that he didn't seem to notice when someone took a seat next to him. "I believe that's a piece of left over food. Might be chicken." He thought it was chicken. Everett's lips curled into a thin amused smile before taking the woman's hand. "Everett Scabior- but please call me Dash. History of Magic." He said giving Seren's hand a firm shake. "Pleasure to meet you." Quote:

Maybe she was just odd? |

But alas, Seren wasn't the type to be in a mood for too long. "Dash... that's an interesting nickname," she remarked. "I'd tell you mine, only I don't have one. If you ever think of anything feel free to share." Oh so he had taken Gemma's position? She glanced down the table, she hadn't heard any rumours of her leaving, but who knew, the Prophet had made a big enough deal about all the new staff members coming through. "The pleasures all mine." Seren made a note of Dash's firm shake... such a manly thing to do. She cast a glance over at the house tables, paying particular attention to the Slytherin table. Hecate seemed to be in a cheerful mood. Hehe. "So Dash... what sort of History are you interested in?" she asked conversationally, seeing as there was no food, and not to mention everything was dirty or just... misplaced. |

"Seren! Welcome back!" And she would end there, as she was sure the Headmaster would quite disapprove if he saw them shouting across the staff table. Quote:

No wonder her former Professor wasn't a fan of consuming anything made by the creatures. ... Blacksmith? Yea. That's what the prophet had said. Metal Charmer? "Huh. Clearly the Prophet has been infused with muggle terminology." Fina shrugged. "Or perhaps it really is rubbish." She was betting on the latter, truth be told. Quote:

Because this is so much more fun than just looking at icky silverware. xD Stella knew that it would probably have been a better move to go to her own table, get to know her new housemates and everything (As so far it looked like everyone she'd met so far wasn't in Ravenclaw with herself. More accurately Gryffindor and Slytherin, but she couldn't say she knew if it was okay to go to the other tables either) Plus, with half of the comments she'd heard upon entry to the Great Hall, she'd rather not deal with Scourgifying dishes quite yet. Instead, she'd simply made her way up to the table at the front of the room, after spending a moment to watch the enchanted sky in the room. That was so much nicer than at Beauxbatons, even though the dining hall there had been nice. Either way, she wanted to let the professors know she was looking forward to what they were going to teach her. Completely unaware that the large part of them seemed to be just as new to the school as she was. But she needed to say something before she looked like a complete idiot, especially as the other girl who'd come up to the table seemed to be confusing some of the professors already. "Bonsoir," she said, almost without thinking, then flushed a little as she made herself switch back to English. You're not at Beauxbatons, she reminded herself again. "Sorry. I just wanted to come up and introduce myself, and say I'm looking forward to all your classes this term," she continued, after her little inner reprimand, then flushed again. "I'm Stella Gardiner." Yeah, that was definitely not the introduction you wanted, in front of your new professors. Hopefully things would get better soon. |

"Ahh, Beauxbaton's transfer?" she asked, offering the young girl a smile. The French was a bit of a give away. But it was lovely to have new an delightful students. No doubt a welcome addition to Ravenclaw House. "Pleasure to meet you Miss Gardiner, my names Professor Bentley, I'll be your Herbology professor. I trust you'll enjoy your time here at Hogwarts." Provided the girl took herbology of course. |
SPOILER!!: Bentley puppy lady She was heading to the staff table. She was intending to ask if there was anything to be done about the silverware when she caught the tail end of a conversation. Her eyes brightened as one of the ladies introduced herself as the Herbology professor. She had a present for the Herbology lady in her purse and she rummaged around for it. She found the crisp white box with the silver bow on top. She was so proud of herself for this present. She walked up to the table and tapped Professor Bentley on the leg. She couldn't reach any higher. "Hi Professor Bentley. I made this for you." she was beaning so hard her cheeks were going to be sore in the morning. Harlow held out the white box and hoped the professor liked the miniature. moonlace plant inside. Her mom had helped her with the charm work to make it a miniature plant. "I'm Harlow," she added. After all you never accepted anything from a stranger right? |
Ooohhh how cute!!! *pets* Quote:
Oh Merlin! A little Slytherin! How cute! and she had a gift for her? "Oh hello dear," she replied, smiling brightly at the - first year? "Thank you Harlow, I appreciate the gesture." She took the box gently- she wouldn't want to crush it in a moment of excitement. Seren was beginning to get used to accepting gifts from students, admittedly she wasn't comfortable with it this time last year, but a lot had changed since then. After untying the pretty silver ribbon and removing the lid of the white box she couldn't help but beam brightly at the lovely little moonlace inside. "Oh Harlow, it's beautiful! thank you," she replied, "I take it you have an interest in Herbology?" she enquired. |

"Merlin, don't even mention that blasted article," Tate had given up standing over the Sorting Hat and retired to his seat, only to discover that the conversation was nearly as unpleasant as the dim glass of mead sitting by his tarnished plate. The normally honey brown liquid was grayish, and he banished the whole thing back to the kitchen. He'd rather be thirsty than see good mead ruined. Ugh. Tate eyed the students with distraction before turning back to the table. "I thought about demanding a retraction after the tripe they published, but they don't seem particularly concerned with the truth. Let's pretend the whole thing doesn't exist." |

"What blasted article!?" Althea was losing patience. She didn't yell, but she rolled her eyes, her growing frustration clear, though she remained polite enough. She certainly didn't subscribe to the Daily Prophet. She hadn't been back in Britain long enough to bother, and certainly hadn't expected to hear of an article that supposedly included her. As a blacksmith? Did she LOOK like a blacksmith? She eyed her perfect nails and then with a frustrated exhalation of air that set a lock of her hair puffing out in front of her face, she busied her hands with rearranging the cutlery again. |
