Lunar Phase Stage

In the center of the room, there is a long royal blue stage with the phases of the moon on it, beginning with a full moon in the middle, and ending with a star on each side. This stage is to be used only by duelists during an official duel.

:gryff:Gideon Gert (Macavity) vs. Louisa Carter (Magical Soul) :claw:

How many times is a Fourth Year student allowed to use the Shield Charm, Protego, in an official duel?

Magical Soul 09-27-2011 11:47 PM

4.Gideon starts.

Holmesian Feline 09-27-2011 11:48 PM

4 times
Louisa first

:gryff:Gideon Gert 400 - 4 vs. Louisa Carter 400 - 4 :claw:

"This is a duel between Gideon Gert from the House of Gryffindor, and Louisa Carter from the House of Ravenclaw." Gnaeus waited for both of the duelists to meet at the center of the stage, then nodded, giving them permission to begin. "Duelists, good luck." With that, he stepped off the stage, and allowed them to proceed.

OOC: Magical Soul is correct, Macavity casts first. Good luck!

Holmesian Feline 09-28-2011 12:01 AM

Ok so it hadn't gone as Gideon had wanted and he ended up going first for the duel.

Relax Gert...this will be fine.

Listening to the man in charge as he described things to the spectators, the Gryffindor worked on getting himself ready. He walked up onto the stage and to the center meeting with Louisa his partner during practice. Gideon caught the man's nod of permission and as he got off the stage, Gideon bowed to his opponent before backing off to allow them both the space.

Here goes...

"Everte Statum," he cast giving the required wand movement. Might as well start off where they left off.

When the little professor announced her name, her knees almost gave up. She even considered feigning sick and accusing someone for registering up for her.. but that was ridiculous. For kitty, for the sake of revenge from that man at Knockturn Alley Louisa promised the little cat to learn DADA and teach herself how to stand up in those nerve-wrecking situations.

She walked toward the boy and bowed when he did. Her heart hammering against her chest, she raised her hand when he did and just as he uttered the spell Louisa shouted, "Protego!" Moving her arm quickly enough. Hopefully.

Round 1
Gideon 400 – 4 vs. Louisa 400 – 4

Gideon began the match casting by a perfect Hurling Hex! The light flew towards Louisa at full throttle, ready to send her hurling across the stage. Louisa, however, was carefully watching Gideon's hand and from his wand movement she anticipated a Hurling Hex, and she wasn't wrong. As the light drew closer and close, Louisa waited for the perfect moment to wave her wand and protect herself by successfully charming a shield! The hex was nullified by the shield and Louisa was still on her feet!

Gideon - 50 Hurling Hex Cost
Gideon 350/400 4/4

Louisa -1 Shield Charm Cost
Louisa 400/400 3/4

A nervous smile played across the girl's face as she successfully blocked his spell. She didn't even stagger to the side or anything! That practicing had worked. Focusing more on the 'mission' and with a normal heart beating at last she seized the chance and shot a hex at the boy, "Morderes." Waving her wand skillfully at that.

Holmesian Feline 09-28-2011 12:32 AM

Gideon watched as Louisa blocked his spell and used one of her shield usages. he had already decided not to be so quick to use his own to avoid being without them when something string was shot his way. However as she shot a stinging hex his way he was reacting without much thinking to avoid getting hurt.

"Protego!" he cast moving his arm from left to right at his elbow

Round 2
Gideon 350/400 – 4/4 vs. Louisa 400/400 – 3/4

Soon after that impressive shield charm, Louisa countered with a powerful Stinging Hex! However, before the hex could reach the boy, it fizzled, and Gideon was easily able to create shield strong enough to nullify whatever was left of it.

Louisa -30 Stinging Hex Cost
Louisa 370/400 3/4

Gideon - 1 Shield Charm Cost
Gideon 350/400 3/4

Round 2 Results
Gideon 350/400 – 3/4 vs. Louisa 370/400 – 3/4

Holmesian Feline 09-28-2011 12:51 AM

Think...Gideon..think.

The Gryffindor wondering what spell he was to use next to try and catch her off guard. He could get her to waste her shields but so could she. That was the hardest part not knowing if she'd try something besides a shield. Finally he had decided and quickly lifted his wand once more to cast a quick... "Confringo!"

Magical Soul 09-28-2011 01:01 AM

Louisa was so pleased with her previous victory at drawing a shield in front of her, a flashing one too!
Seeing Gideon casting just as perfect shield as hers, though, took away her pleasure. He was good. Moving her wand quickly she spoke loudly, "Everte Statum!" And off at the Gryffindor.

Round 3
Gideon 350/400 – 3/4 vs. Louisa 370/400 – 3/4

Gideon was not losing any focus. With a flick of his wand, he generated an enormous explosion, sending poor Louisa flying across the stage. She landed on her back, with a thud that made everyone in the room cringe. That was going to hurt in the morning, or in about five seconds. She wasn’t giving up, though. To everyone’s surprise, the young witch made a quick recovery, and didn’t waste a single second. She responded with a hex so strong that the boy didn’t have enough time to protect himself. It hit! He fell on his bottom and hurled to the end of the stage, nearly falling off. That wasn't enough for him to let go of his wand. Neither duelists were giving up any time soon.

Gideon - 60 Blasting Curse Cost
Gideon 290/400 3/4

Louisa - 120 Blasting Curse Damage
Louisa - 50 Hurling Hex Cost
Louisa 200/400 3/4

Gideon - 100 Hurling Hex Damage
Gideon 190/400 3/4

Round 3 Results
Gideon 190/400 – 3/4 vs. Louisa 200/400 – 3/4

Magical Soul 09-28-2011 01:22 AM

Hiding the wince Louisa strode forward, back to her original place, after he sent her FLYING to the end of the stage -thanks a lot by the way- and raised her wand, "Morderes!" The first natural spell, easy one at that, came to her mind. Once her butt stopped tingling she was going to focus on a more advanced hex. It took most of the girl's will not to rub her backside in front of the whole club.. and the little professor. Being a young lade, as her aunt always said.

Holmesian Feline 09-28-2011 01:31 AM

Gideon watched intently as the spell hit his opponent with no shield cast and inwardly winced himself. However he didn't have a chance to think on the Ravenclaw too much for her own spell was coming towards him too fast to deflect and he felt himself fall and be hurled towards the edge of the stage.

Oh that hurt almost as much as a bludger.

The Gryffindor got up to his feet with his wand still in hand recovering his best for the next round. As Louisa repeated the earlier spell Gideon was tempted to raise a shield once more but another idea came to mind and he quickly retailated.

"Stupefy!"

Gnaeus Spenser 09-28-2011 01:44 AM

Round 4
Gideon 190/400 – 3/4 vs. Louisa 200/400 – 3/4

The young Ravenclaw didn’t seem to be too hurt, or maybe she was so caught in the moment that she couldn’t feel anything. Regardless, she was not holding back, and quickly sent a Stinging Hex towards the Gryffindor boy’s way. The spell hit him on his arm, which caused it to swell slightly and burn just a tad. Gideon almost lost his wand, but was still had some fight in him. Trying to end the duel a little early, Gideon successfully cast a Stunning Spell, which hit Louisa on her chest. She fell on her back again, but still held on tight to her wand. Fortunately for her, that Stinging Hex did its job and Gideon’s Stunning Spell wasn’t powerful enough to stun her entirely.

Louisa - 30 Stinging Hex Cost
Louisa 170/400 3/4

Gideon -60 Stinging Hex Damage
Gideon - 100 Stunning Spell Cost
Gideon 30/400 3/4

Louisa -150 Stunning Spell Damage
Louisa 20/400 3/4

Note: Magical Soul can’t cast the Stinging Hex anymore.

Holmesian Feline 09-28-2011 01:56 AM

Gideon gritting his teeth as the burning he felt in his arm from her stinging hex hurt him. He momentarily rubbed the spot with his opposite hand to try and get the sting to allieviate for just a moment so he could cast again since his turn was up. Lowering his non-wand arm back to his side, he opted for a simplier spell in hopes to catch her off guard.

"Flipendo!"

Magical Soul 09-28-2011 02:00 AM

Louisa's eyes widened when uttered the stunning spell, she hadn't expected that. Not at all. Obviously she underestimated him. The spell wasn't as bad as she'd imagined it was - or maybe he was a bit clumsy with it? Anyways, and with all strength's left in her she tried to block his knock-jinx, "Protego!"

Gnaeus Spenser 09-28-2011 02:04 AM

Round 5
Gideon 30/400 – 3/4 vs. Louisa 20/400 – 3/4

That burn was really getting to the young Gryffindor. He could barely keep a grip on his wand, and resorted to a simple Knockback Jinx. Louisa, on the other hand, was doing well enough to charm a shield, but nearly dropped her wand as she did. Gideon's eyes were on fixed on her wand, ready to snatch it the moment she dropped it.

Gideon -10 Knockback Jinx Cost
Gideon 20/400 – 3/4

Louisa – 1 Shield Charm Cost
Louisa 20/400 – 2/4

Note: Magical Soul can’t cast the Stinging Hex anymore.

Round 5 Results
Gideon 20/400 – 3/4 vs. Louisa 20/400 – 2/4

Magical Soul 09-28-2011 02:08 AM

Beads of sweat were easily seen on the girl's forehead as her mind raced for the right incantation and wand movement required, she wanted to hurl him away.. or make him go ticklish all over... but her mouth moved on its own accord, "Flipendo!" Flicking her wand at the boy, the tension making her breaths to come out heavily.

Holmesian Feline 09-28-2011 02:19 AM

Gideon saw her neary loose her grip on her wand and paid attention but then his own grip wasn't he tightest it usually as. As her own knock-back jinx came her way he had very little chance to debate his actions. Before he knew it there was only one real choice.

"Protego!

Gnaeus Spenser 09-28-2011 02:26 AM

Round 6
Gideon 20/400 – 3/4 vs. Louisa 20/400 – 2/4

Louisa also opted to use a Knockback Jinx against her opponent, but Gideon’s arm wasn’t burning enough to impede him from protecting against something so weak. The shield was a success, but Gideon’s hand jerked and he almost lost his wand. Both duelists were growing too tired to continue.

Louisa -10 Knockback Jinx Cost
Louisa 10/400 – 2/4

Gideon – 1 Shield Charm Cost
Gideon 20/400 – 2/4

Round 6 Results
Gideon 20/400 – 2/4 vs. Louisa 10/400 – 2/4

Holmesian Feline 09-28-2011 02:40 AM

Gideon was getting a little warn and was planning on collapsing on his bed after this...if he could manage it upstairs. One or two more spells and this would be over and his options were slim on what he could do. So for next casting he chose a repeat of his lead-off spell two rounds before.

"Flipendo!"

Magical Soul 09-28-2011 02:48 AM

Louisa was done for. Her hand couldn't clutch the wand tightly. No catching whatsoever, even. With one last breath, the girll uttered, "Protego!" She was not going to be knocked over, she might not get back up. And Joao wasn't around to carry her above.. no one would touch her but the Brazilian boy so it wasn't even an option to be knocked over.
