Fourth Floor Corridor

Look. A corridor!

Cedric 09-05-2011 03:28 PM

Paulie was a little lost.

The boy was lucky that he didn't have any class that he needed to be at right now. His eyes scanned around the walls that made up this corridor that he was in. Which floor was he on again? Third..? Fourth..? Fourth, yes. Not really knowing what else to do, the fifth year shoved his hands into his pockets and continued down the hallway.

It's lame ;/

Daphne had decided to explore the castle since classes hadn't begun but..she really didn't imagine that Hogwarts would be so huge. Gosh. Did she have climb those stairs every single day once school started? Eeek. Terrible.

The girl was a little out of breath once she reached the fourth floor corridor. She leaned against the wall and relaxed for a couple of minutes before she decided to do a little more exploring.

Daphne started down the corridor when she accidentally bumped into someone walking in the opposite direction. "Oh, gosh! I'm so sorry! I was a little distracted." The girl flushed.

Paulie was still wandering the halls when suddenly..

BAM!

Something - or someone, rather - had bumped right into him. Jeez Louise, here was that invisibility factor again. Who needed an invisibility cloak when you were Paulie Foster?! Mumble mumble. Yet, he suddenly didn't mind so much when he heard the voice giving the apology and realized that it was a girl.

If anything, he loved Hogwarts because of the plethora of pretty girls. "Oh no, it's cool," he assured her, giving a small smile. "I guess it's easy to let your mind wander when your feet are doing the same."

Daphne ran a hand through her hair. She felt so stupid..what if she had knocked him over or something? Nah. That wasn't possible but still..she needed to be more careful.

She gave a quiet sigh of relief when he said that it was okay. "I mean, I was just thinking about something and I really didn't pay any attention to--" Why was she blabbering!? Shut up, Daph! Um. "Yeah, I guess you're right.." She returned his smile.

Daphne stuck out her hand and introduced herself. "I'm Daphne Green."

Amy didn't do the libarary. But she'd been forced to go, so she could take out a book, and because Sammy had refused to do it for her. She hated the school libarary. Not for no reason, but because she always got injured when she went into the libarary. No joke. Last year she'd been knocked out by a first year pushing a book onto her head. Obviously there was no lasting damage..but still.

But now she had to...or did she. Well, probably she did, but that wasn't going to stop the shortie from looking for a way out. Possibly a child she could hold above her so they could take the brute of the books. Amy was to precious to lose many brain cells again. Considering she'd only been there a day and Sammy had already made her fall out of bed. Typical Sammy. She looked this way and that.

It would be nice if someone would wander by. You know. And was a brave person. You know. A gryffindor or something. Get some use out of the cliche..

Jack was in the library, and had been for a while. He was reading up as much as he could about Hogwarts and er, NEWT level wizard stuff so he could keep up.

He was just after finishing The Half Headed Biography of Sir Nicholas de Mimsy Porpington: Gryffindor House Ghost when he decided to chance his arm at The Bloody Tale of the Bloody Baron. Why not?

Strolling over slow enough to observe the numerous titles of books he passed, he wedged The Half Headed- eh, you know the rest, back in to it's place and right between the gap he saw Amy.

Crap.

Their last conversation hadn't ended too well, so he wanted to make a good impression. He hated people being miffed at him.

It stinked. Stank. Stunk. Whatever.

Luckily she was facing the other way, so he put the book backk quietly, and then with his wand, brought down The Bloody Tale of the Bloody Baron.

But, because he got distracted by a sudden crack in his knee, he collapsed on to one knee, sending the large book flying over the book cases, where with his luck would probably hit Amy.

He would have ran around the case where he easily could have jumped up and caught it before it landed, but no. His right knee decided to buckle and now his whole leg was virtually immobile.

Crap.

city_girl_95 09-05-2011 07:12 PM

And so, she had pondered, procrastinated, protested and many other words begining with P but had to face it. No one would help her. Boo. And so, she had stepped into the libarary, hands over her head as a precuation.

It was a precaution and frankly, she hadn't expected for a pile of books to land on her.

Either she had the worse luck, or someone was out to get her. She squealed as the pile fell on top of her and muttered a series of obsenities, earning tuts from people around her. Yes. A tut. But NO HELP. How typical. She flailed for another minute or so until she'd managed to get the books off her and stood up, her face purple with anger as she spotted a familiar person from her spot on the floor.

JACK ROSE, YOU IDIOT HOW DARE YOU-! She started, storming over to him in what looked like a thoroughly uncomfortable position, but Amy didn't really care. With her pride and ego bruised and deflated, plus a huge lump coming up on her head and mussy hair, she was p-oed, and did what anyone in the same situation would do.

Slap him and start shouting about what an idiot he was

YOU COULD OF KILLED ME!

LunaLovegood5 09-05-2011 07:20 PM

Jack scowled. "Nice to see you too." He muttered, holding on to a chair nearby and hoisting himself to his feet, or in this case, foot. He stood there on the one foot giving Amy that look that only some boys can do in that sort of hurt-but-sorry-and-ouch-by-the-way-and-hi.

He hopped over to her with his eyebrows raised. "Cranky, eh?" He asked, wincing before he even heard her answer.

city_girl_95 09-05-2011 07:29 PM

Amy continued to glare at him, yeah well, if you hadn't of just nearly killed me...she muttered, utterly miffed. She'd changed from "just tried" to "nearly" but she was still annoyed with him. And yes, to a degree she was still annoyed with him for turning on her in Knockturn Alley. Yes, she held grudges, get over it..

But even she had to admit the whole "ooooh poor me" thing he was doing strange things to her. ie, loosning her resolve on being a nasty cow and tearing a shred out of him. Bloody boy. Actually, I wasn't until a whole pile of books fell on me she said stonily, throwing him a glare

Jack didn't take her considerably intimidating glare to heart, he was fairly used to them from his mum, and unsatisfied customers. In comparison, she might as well be skipping around making daisy chains.

"I apologise for my fatal accident." He said, his face not even slightly hinting towards the light sarcasm in his voice.

He looked at her for a moment, his face straight despite how strange it looked as he hopped up and down on his left foot.

"Really?" He asked. "I doubt that some how. I get the feeling you're not thrilled about being in the library." He said honestly, glancing up at the high shelves.

Hmm.

Zayden stopped walking down the corridor once it felt like he was going the wrong direction. Did he already past the Great Hall? It sure did seem like it. He looked around for someone to ask directions from but the only two people he saw were already engaged into a conversation. He didn't really want to interrupt them so he just carried on walking down the corridor some more, hoping that he'd figure out where he was sooner or later.

Let's hope it's sooner than later. His stomach was GROWLING!

Why couldn't Muggle contraptions work here?! This was just a bit aggravating. Danae poked at her headset, willing them to work but decided that she should just take them off so she could stop looking like a loon. Sigh.

Walking down the hall with a bit of 'tude in her stride, Danae Zoto thought about the homework that she had to do, which was still upstairs locked away in her dormitory taunting her.

Stopping, she looked out the window, running her fingertips along the panes of glass, watching the light hit the coloured ones brilliantly. She should have brought her sketchpad, ah well.

Zayden was just about to give up on trying to find the Great Hall. He really should just wait until he was with Amelia so she could show him around because he felt like an outcast. He was a SIXTH YEAR and probably the only one his age who couldn't find his way around; however, he did have a reason since this was his first year here.

Ugh.

He turned around to head back to the common room but alas! There was a girl standing there, that WASN'T talking to anyone, and he was sure she could help him out!

"Excuse me," he said as he approached her. "Can you tell me where the Great Hall is?"

Amy narrowed her eyes at him again, sarcasm is not appreciated she said, sitting on the floor and looking at his knee. It wasn't injured persee, but if it was sore..well, it looked sore. She took her hands, that were slightly worn from her holidays but enough, and put her hands on his leg, in a gesture of "I-don't-quite-forgive-you-but-I'll-help" and began to see if there was anything dislocated, or spasming. You could always tell, there was a slightly vibration.

No, but mainly because I don't like books falling on me, she said, focussing on his leg. She wasn't squeamish. No. Well, not much

"Yes, well you seem to appreciate it when you're using it." He said, his voice teasing slightly.

He was actually very surprised when she decided to help his leg, though he noticed she was still keeping up the whole cold act.

"Don't mind it." He dismissed, glaring at his stupid knee. "I broke it when I was thirteen when I... when I fell down the stairs. I never got it checked so it healed weird and does this sometimes." He shrugged, shaking it slightly.

Danae heard noise but wasn't particularly paying attention to what it was. She saw a flash of gold out of the corner of her eye, and being a girl who liked a bit of shimmer and shine, she turned to look at a boy who seemed out of place.

"I'm sorry..what?" she said, blinking rapidly to look clueless since she obviously hadn't been paying attention to him whatsoever.

Yes, but the two situations are totally different. Sarcasm being used on me sucks, me using sarcasm works, she said, shooting him a grin. She continued to prod the leg until she came across something. Shut up she said to him as she continued to check, when she reached something. Yeah. I can tell she said, as she prodded the cartilidge. You've got some floating cartilidge going around she said, slapping the leg, you should get that seen to

...

"Hey."

Zayden knew that was SO LAME but he didn't realize how pretty the girl was until she turned to face her. Heh. He stuck his hands inside his pockets before repeating himself, "I'm looking for the Great Hall." And at his age, he felt like that was such a stupid thing to say so he needed to make himself seem less stupid. "I'm new here so I don't particularly know my way around just yet."

He probably never would. Not with his lack of direction.

"Ah, that makes perfectly fair sense." He said, chuckling at her, but in a good way. He returned the grin and watched her prodding the look. "So, Dr Samson, what's your diagnosis?" He asked, his face in mock concern. He shook his head at her suggestion. "Nah, it's fine." He said, hopping around a bit. "It'll be fine soon enough." He shrugged. "So, how's school going for you so far?" He asked, eager to change the subject.

To people just NOT pay attention or something? No wonder Danae was a Ravenclaw, she had a photographic memory and kept it stored for whenever she needed it.

"You're about four floors off, mate." she told him honestly before looking him up and down. He looked a bit too old to be a first year, so he was obviously a transfer, or just a slow learner.

Zayden went mellow faced at her words, and he could just feel his cheeks getting pink. Well, how embarrassing. Even if this was his first time at Hogwarts, he still felt foolish not to know where the Great Hall was. So so foolish. He should of gotten a map at the feast.

"Oh, well..." He sheepishly chuckled. "Thanks for letting me know." He paused for a second then added, "I'm Zayden, by the way. Zayden Abrams." This might be his first friend made here! Woot woot!

Don't laugh at me she said, though her tone had none of the bite it had had just minutes before. Bloody Jack. Made everyone feel bad in his presence. She needed to toughen up. She looked at him with a bemused expression, it is obviously not fine, she sighed, standing up, just go to the nurse she nodded, leaning against the wall.

School? BRIL. She loved this place. But that would make her look like a freak...well, Jack knew she was a freak, so even more of a freak, it's been good she nodded, in what her mind was cool and calm, you?

Paulie listened as she began an explanation only to then cut herself off rather abruptly. He wondered why she did this, but he didn't ask. Maybe people were telling her she was a blabbermouth and they'd put some spell on her that only allowed her to speak a certain amount of words in one day.

Sometimes Paulie did have strange notions like this which, clearly, came out of nowhere.

"Nice to meet ya, Daphne," he said, shaking her hand. "I'm Paulie.. I, uh, just transferred here this term." The boy had decided to tack on that last part in case she was wondering why he was roaming the halls so cluelessly. Perhaps she hadn't even noticed.
