Girls Dormitory

At the top of the steep steps, high in Ravenclaw Tower your dormitory awaits you. The circular room is lined with beds and trunks, a few owls flutter about the space and several cats chase dustballs on the wooden floor. Books and homework cast throughout the room show just how studious the members of Ravenclaw are. Pull back the sheets and close the curtains because another day of learning lies ahead!


Remember, no boys allowed!

so this is where Coraline will sleep? she thought as she walked through the room, there she saw Misty on what must be her bed, she sat down and stared at the roof, she had no Ravenclaw friends that were girls, none, she hoped that a girl might come in and talk to her though, that would be nice.

Emily skipped into the dormitory, the bangles on her feet jangled as they usually did. Her feet were still bare and would be until class the next day, unless she could get away with footless sandals (which maybe she would try).

Emily opened up her trunk and pulled out her antique crystal ball and placed it on her bedside table. She then took out her tarot cards, placed them next to the crystal ball and placed a quartz crystal on top of them, after this she pulled out the antique tea cup and placed it, too, on the bedside table and put the bag of loose tea next to it. After this she pulled the neck bag from around her neck which contained the antique rune set and placed it as well on the bedside table.

To Emily's annoyance she would have to wear bed clothing to sleep, back in the Romani village she merely slept naked. Much more natural and freeing you know. Emily reached into her trunk and pulled out a white night gown, it was long and old fashioned, the way she liked them. She changed openly in the room. Honestly spending all summer and holidays in the woods with gypsies left her with no shame whatsoever. She rather wished to get people at Hogwarts to start calling her by the name she was called in the village. 'Vadoma' suited her much more anyway, maybe she would ask people from now on to call her that, much easier on her head anyways. Yes, she had made up her mind. From now on she would be Vadoma.

Vadoma now plopped herself on her bed and looked around. She was thoroughly bored and wanted someone to talk to. She pulled out her wand and held it for a moment, she then noticed a scuff on it and she rubbed at it for a moment until a spark shot out from it and hit her crystal ball and bounced back to her and hit her in the head. At first she panicked and worried she had completely disfigured her face or something, but she reached up to feel her face. She seemed fine so she grabbed a mirror and lookinto it, to her confusion she thought she saw someone else but really saw herself. Her hair had changed from blonde to brunette. Interesting. She wondered what she had done to cause this, but decided not to recreate the chain of events for fear of doing something actually harmful. She quite liked the way she looked with brown hair so she decided to keep it that way.

She also was worried because she had been telling people she lived in a gypsy village, when the people there hated being called gypsies... the proper term was romani. It was just easier here to explain by saying gypsy. Although she, herself, was not Romani. Her mother was adopted into the family, more like they found her abandoned but anyway they raised her as their own. A little ginger baby amongst the romani people. Now her mother married one of the whitest men Vadoma knew, he was very white, he was blonde (Which explained Vadoma's previously blonde hair), and he had piercing blue eyes, just like Vadoma's.

Just then Vadoma felt something scurrying up her leg, she was quite used to this feeling so she jus gave a downward glance and saw Karma, her blind and albino ferret she had inherited from her grandmother on her father's side. She lifted him up to her and nuzzled him with her nose and smiled at him. She then sang him an excerpt from a song to put him to sleep: :music: When the moon is in the seventh house, and jupiter aligns with mars, then peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars. :music:

She now laid there with her sleeping ferret and drifted off to sleep herself.

Alice entered the dormitory, spotted what she supposed was her bed, her barn owl Honey was in her cage on the small table next to it, and wandered over. The room had the same cosy homely feeling as the common room. She sat down on her bed and stroked Honey through the bars of her bird cage. She really was exhausted but for some reason didn’t feel like sleeping.

Emily entered the girls dormitory and immediately noticed that Claire was not here either, no matter hopefully it wouldn't be long till she came.
Emily plumped herself down on her bed, her trunk lay closed at the foot of her bed, she would think about unpacking in the morning, right now she was still full from all the food and her eye lids were heavy.
Emily opened the window by her bed to let some fresh air in, when suddenly her faithful barn owl Dante flew in, clicking his beak affectionately in her direction as he perched himself on her outstrecthed arm.
"Hey Dante", Emily cooed at her owl.
"You want some treats?" she asked it as she opened her trunk and fished out a small crumpled paper bag.

Claire entered the girls dormitory, dragging her sore feet as she went.
"Emily! there you are!" she exclaimed as she walked over for a hug. She stroked Dante's feathers as way of greeting.
"Em I'm so tired." she whinged as she flopped herself onto Emily's bed.

Emily held out her arms and hugged Claire, laughing at how tired she looked.
"What have you been up to? I've been waiting for you to get here for ages" she replied.
Dante left her arm and fluttered over to his cage which lay abandoned by the window.
Emily sat beside Claire and stroked her hair affectionately.
"Don't worry, you'll get used to being tired", she replied, a mischevious grin on her face.

"Well I left the Great Hall not long after you, but then the stair cases kept changing, and I didn't know where I was going. I ran into peeves... I fell through a secret passage that landed me in the dungeons so I had to go back up the stairs again... and I was lost. But then I saw another Ravie and so I followed them into the commonroom." Claire took a deep breath and sighed.
"Please don't ever leave me again". she said in a small voice. She could feel hey eyelids drooping so she sat up slowly, flung her legs over the side of the bed and went to lay on her own bed as she feared she would fall asleep on Emily's.
"When do classes start?" she finally managed to ask.

Willow went over to Alice and sat beside her. "This is so cool, isn't it?" Willow then eyed her owl. "Your owl is really sweet! I've one too." Willow then pulled up Maisy's cage. "This is Maisy, she's a mini owl."

Emily couldn't help but laugh as Claire told her about her adventures, barely stopping for a breath.
"Oh Claire, I'm so sorry", said Emily trying hard to stiffle another laugh.
"Have to admitt, its pretty funny though, and at least you'll be able to laugh about it later". She added. Emily lay down on her bed as Claire moved to occupy her own.
"Classes start on Monday, so be sharp and ready, we've got Ancient Runes first thing in the morning. I'm really eager to earn some house points."
Emily suddenly sat bolt up right and leant over the front of her bed and opened her trunk. fter rumaging for what seemed to be five minutes she pulled out an Ancient Runes text book and flipped it open.

Dahlia entered the common room and spotted her trunk sitting next to her bed. Relief coursed through her as she made her way over and flopped onto the comfortable sheets.

She had just closed her eyes when she felt something nudge against her arm. It was Hera, her kitten.

"There you are!" She pulled the purring cat closer to her and petted her as she watched her roommates.

"Pfft yeah funny for you.. not for me", she said bitterly. Her brain was slowly shutting down, soon she wouldn't be able to speak properly, she needed sleep.
"Oh well, at least we have the week end", said Claire a bit of hope in her voice. By this point Emily was raiding her trunk frantically, Claire just watched, ammused by her sudden out burst of energy.
Emily surfaced triumphant, holding up an Ancient Runes text book.
Claire giggled more to herself than to anyone else.
"Your such a nerd" she said.

Claire changed into her pjs and hopped into bed, she wasn;t going to be able to stay awake much longer.
"Night Em", she whispered as she closed her eyes.

"Night Claire-bear" she replied, "Sleep well."
Claire flicked through her text book for a while but then set it down on her bedside table and turned to look at her other room mates.


She noticed a girl laying on her bed with the cutest little kitten. She was obviously a first year, still so young and innocent.
"Hi there, I'm Emily, welcome to Ravenclaw", she said smiling at the girl.

"Thanks, Emily." Dahlia struggled to sit up and Hera mewed unhappily. "I'm Dahlia."

She could tell Emily was an older student. "It's seems like so much going on. How long did it take you to get used to everything?"

Alice smiled and nodded, she absolutely loved the dorms and the common room "Yeah, this is way better than my bedroom at home. And thanks, her name is Honey. She was a birthday present, Mum wanted to make sure i could send messages home whenever i wanted." "Your owl is really sweet to! I don’t think i have ever seen a mini owl before"

"Nice to meet you Dahlia", said Emily. She remembered what it was like in her first year, growing up surrounded by magic she thought she would be well prepared, but Hogwarts was a whole different story to home life. It was erratic, chaotic and fun. But mostly chaotic.
"It's not too bad, things will begin settling down once classes start. You'll get used to it pretty quick, and after your first year you'll be fine. A word of advice, try to establish some sort of routine, at least that way you wont get too stressed out about all the homework".
Emily twirled a strand of hair around her finger.
"You excited for classes?" she asked. This was usually a silly question, having classes was one of the best things at Hogwarts, the lessons were so exciting that you couldn't not look forward to them.

"I can't wait for the lessons to start!" Dahlia responded excitedly. "I've got all my books and parchment and I brought a study planner. Never too early to start planning for OWLs is it?"

It was so wierd to think that one day she'd no longer be a first year and that she'd be an old hat at this. "What are you going to do once you graduate?"

Willow grinned at Maisy fondley. "Mmm, they're sort of rare I think but I think they're adorable! i don't really have anyone to send letters to but it would be nice if I did..."

Making her way up the stairs that she'd seen girls go up (for surely that must mean this was the girls dormitory - the boys had been going up the other stairs) Aimée swung the door open slowly, and peered 'round it. Yes, this was her dormitory, she could see her trunk at the end, easily recognisable by the blue name tag. Of course, the name tag was blue because she'd been in Beauxbatons and it was the colour of the school, but she deemed it fitting here, now she was in Ravenclaw.

Making her way towards it, she was glad she had a bed at the end of the rows, although not because she had to walk to it. Nodding at a few people as she past them, she spotted Willow, the girl she'd spoken to at the feast and smiled, before plopping down on her bed.

Vadoma snapped awake suddenly by the voices, she wasn't even tired anymore. She decided to put on some actual clothes instead of the nightgown she was wearing. She shot out of bed, her ferret ran under he bed and curled up on a towel that Vadoma had laid out for him. Vadoma popped open her trunk and pulled out a white peasant blouse and a brown patchwork skirt that Vadoma had made that summer. She pulled off the nightgown and put on the clothes right in the middle of the room. She really didn't care if any of the other girl saw her undressing. she sat down onto her bed and looked at all the girls in the room, she didn't know any of them but recognized them from the fast.

"Hello." Vadoma smiled at them all in her mysterious way. She then proceeded to shuffle her tarot cards.

"No its never too early", responded Emily. She was pleased that Dahlia was keen, perhaps they could win the House Cup this year.

"I'm planning on going into the family business so to speak." began Emily. "My fathers an auror and so my fiance. So I was thinking of doing the same. But if not then I might get into teaching like my mother."
"Decisions decisions."
"Any clue as to what yo want to do?... I mean you have seven years to think it over but I always knew what I wanted to do" she said grinning.

"Hi there", replied Emily looking the girl up nad down. She seemed to be a bit strange, but nonetheless very interesting.
"Are those tarot cards you've got there? You any good at reading them?" she asked curiously.

Luin slowly opened the door to the room, seeing a couple of girls in there already and almost stepping out but she spotted her stuff by a bed as well. Shyly she walked over to her stuff and sat on the bed, looking down at her trunk. She quietly pulled out a picture and placed it on her bedside table, the picture of a couple smiling happily together, waving at the camera. Luin's hand went to her locket as she looked at the picture, squeezing it as she watched for a few seconds. She suddenly turned around, hearing the girls talking. She stood up and took a few steps closer, trying not to intrude, but also eager to make friends already.
"Hello, I'm Luin, I'm just starting my first year here."

Vadoma laughed, "I spend all summer learning divination, if I'm not good I must be doing it wrong!"
