The first Potions class will open this Friday September 10th and remain open until at least Sunday September 12th. Please file into the dungeon classroom quietly, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING and find a place to sit promptly before class begins. I will NOT tolerate tardiness, rudeness or talking once my class has started. Please familiarize yourself with my rules before attending. I don't want any whining about 'I didn't knoooow' or 'please don't take points off' or 'but my nose was not this shape when we started'. So sit down, shut up and pay attention. |

1. The Ramesside Dream-Book, one of the oldest known dream diaries, comes from which ancient culture? 2. What is a false awakening and why can they make dream interpretation difficult? 3. True or False : Everyone dreams at least once during the night, but not everyone remembers what they dreamt. 4. Why should dreams be recorded immediately when you wake up? 5. What is Lucid Dreaming? This homework is due TWO weeks from this post (Friday, September 24th) at approximately 7 PM EST. All homework needs to be PMed to ME, Miss Lissy Lou, by the time and date specified, and needs to include the required information (Username, ID, house, etc.) |
Term Long Dream Diary Assignment 1. Throughout the course of this term, you need to record THREE dreams in the Dream Diary Bookcase for your character, all IC of course. Each dream needs to be a minimum of three paragraphs, and each paragraph can be no less than 5 sentences. The more details you give, the more you have to interpret! 2. Speaking of interpreations...DO NOT analyze your dreams in this thread. This is just for keeping a log of your dreams. You'll analyze everything later. 3. You can keep track of your dreams one of two ways: Either make ONE post and edit your three dreams into that one post, or make three seperate posts for each dream. All I ask is that when you pick one way to record your dreams, you STICK with it. Please don't make a post with two dreams and then change your mind and make another one. It's very confusing. 4. You MUST complete these three dreams before the final exam at the end of term. Since that gives you plenty of time to complete this part of the assignment, you cannot get full credit on the final unless you finish this part of the assignment first. Even if you DON'T do the three dreams, you can still TAKE the final exam, you just won't get the full points for it. Savvy? Oh, and extra dreams will NOT lead to extra credit. Sorry. Feel free to write four or five dreams if you feel like doing so, however. They're fun to read! 5. Here is an example dream: Quote:

1. What types of people are most influenced by the number two? (As in, what sun sign do they fall under?) 1a. What are underlying characteristics of people who fall under this number? 2. There has been much talk for the number seven being lucky. Yes it is a mystical number, but what makes this number (or any for that matter!) lucky or unlucky? 3. We know from history that Voldemort split his soul into seven parts. We also know that all seven parts were destroyed. Do you think it would have made a difference if he had spared his soul or made 9 horcruxes? 9 for completion and universal oneness? What do you believe might be the advantages and disadvantages to using 'lucky, magical number seven'? Bonus Activity: Research to find a character in the Harry Potter canon world who have one of their core numbers as a 2 or 7. Explain what this number means for them. Show any work completed for maximum credit. Due by 11:59pm EST, Thursday October 28th Please make sure you read the rules for submitting a homework here. I reserve the right to deduct points for inability to follow the rules outlined there. =) Any questions should be directed to myself (Orchideae) =) |

Create your own Tarot Cards! Create your own version of any FOUR Major Arcana cards. For example, if you wanted to create your own version of The Emperor card, you might put a picture of someone you think is a great leader (like your Divination professor, perhaps?) or a symbol you think stands for leadership, like a crown or a staff. Rename the card appropriately (The Emperor would now become The Crown card) and then explain briefly what number the card would be, and what it would stand for in your OWN opinion. Example: SPOILER!!: My awesome card Quote:

As we discussed with the number nine, in one's lifetime, a nine-year cycle occurs repeatedly, which is also called a numerological cycle. Your life is operating on repeated nine-year cycles, each year having a number which has a particular meaning. This meaning is your theme for the year, also called your personal year. Find your personal year number for the following years in your life: - When you were born - When you started Hogwarts - The current year - When you will graduate Hogwarts Please show all calculations necessary to find these numbers and describe what each number means for you and your life. This assignment is worth 16 points Due: November 20th, 11:59pm EST Also note that while I'm generally lenient, if you submit late THIS time, you risk not being able to earn points for the assignment. Please make sure you read the rules for submitting a homework here. I reserve the right to deduct points for inability to follow the rules outlined there. =) |
