Defense Against the Dark Arts Lesson 1 (part A and B)
The first lesson will be in two parts. The thread will open at 12:00pm GMT on the 10th of may, and commence approx 9 or 10 hours after that (when I... get up, basically)

The first part of the lesson will be a continuation of last term's lesson on the Histedius spell.

The second part of the lesson will cover basic defensive technique and introduce several defensive spells.

The class will run as long as it takes, likely about 3 days so that everyone has a chance to participate.

Note: You're still welcome to do the homework even if you didn't actually roleplay in class.

Homework:
Charms Lesson One

WRITTEN
1. In class, we talked about a few ways magic has made our lives easier. Choose one item from the list we made and write a small paragraph (at least five sentences) describing how magic has made that specific part of our lives easier. (OOC: If your character added their own option to this list, feel free to use one of those if you'd like).

2. The combination of charms we learned in class causes one item to levitate and fixate and another item to turn. The combination can also be used to wash dishes, since you could levitate and fixate a dish and charm a washrag to turn and clean. Think of at least one other situation (it doesn't have to be kitchen-related) in which you could use the combination of charms we learned in class. In other words, a situation where you could levitate and fixate one object then cause another to turn. Write at least five sentences describing the answer you came up with.

PRACTICAL
Share your cupcakes with at least one other person (student or staff) in the school. OOC: You'll need to roleplay this and link me to the posts of you offering the cupcakes and the other person accepting.

Homework is due Monday, May 31 by 11:59 PM EST. Questions? PM Anna Banana.

PM your homework to Anna Banana. Please include the following heading at the top of your homework assignment:

Username:
Character name/year:
House:
User ID:

To get your User ID, just look at the set of numbers at the end of the web address of your SS member profile. For example, if you go to my profile, you'll see the numbers 85591 at the end of the web address. 85591 is my User ID.

BONUS RP OPPORTUNITY!!
Find any staff member and offer to do a reading (calculation & interpretation) of ONE of the four core numbers for them to demonstrate your new Arithmancy skills.
(Note: You must provide link(s) to where this is RPed for maximum credit opportunity [up to five points]. This part also must be included in your original homework submission; as I don't have deadlines, then if you have interest in doing this - wait to send in the rest of your homework. If you send in separate PMs, then I will only grade your first PM sent)

***
Follow the Homework Submission Guidelines.

Reiterating again: I am not terribly strict about deadlines; take your time and do your best work. The most absolute deadline for ALL my assignments is when the final is posted, which isn't until like July (for your reference). SO plenty of time =)
