OH! That time Lyra was caught off guard and so much for her opening her big mouth. Her body stiffened as she fell forward....ON HER FACE...and hit the ground. She couldn't move but could hear all around her but her nose was hurting once again...

"Why not? It's fun!" Celandine exclaimed, bouncing ridiculously fast.

"Oh no, of course not! Tobi is big and strong and smart and tough; he won't cry!" Celandine continued to bounce. Her nose attempted to sniff out candy.

"I'm not that sneaky!" Cela exclaimed happily, before shooting off a babbling curse at Daphne.

Cela darted behind Qaz, using her and her shield for herself.

Cela peeked out from behind Qaz, "Oooh Anna are you alright? Ravenclaw thanks youuuuuu!" For being a good sport or something.

"Tobi! Do you have any candy?" Cela asked, her eyes wide and hopeful. For good measure she sent another sponge knees curse at him.

Cela's eyes widened at the sight of Lyra's face colliding with the ground and she darted behind Copernicus again, peeking over his shoulder at the Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors.

Qaz was rather surprised when Cela ducked behind her, but at least she was doing something useful. I'll just stand here like a rock and provide cover.

Daphne stood behind her shield, squinting at her Gryffindor Prefect. It seemed fighting off both Copernicus and Celandine was doing her in and Daphne could only side-step behind her for cover. After all, she was already injured aaaand--well, Daphne's shield was fading and she needed to check up on Tobias.

Not that she cared how he was faring but he was stupidly kneeling down with an incapacitated Hufflepuff, wand and defense forgotten. he was an open target! "Your WAND, Avalon!" Don't make me come over there!

Just as she was stepping out from behind Anna, Celandine sent a babbling curse at her, unable to whip out a proper shield in time. The curse hit the back of her calf as she had tried to jump out of the way. "Oh, this is not good," declared Daphne in a depressed tone. "Now my mouth will run away with me more than usual. I can't believe this is happening. You know, Anna, this wouldn't be happening if you would just keep your defenses up. Stop making googly eyes at Plymouth!"

Oh. Ohhh. Bad mouth.

"Your welcome!" retorted Daphne sarcastically in Anna's behalf, the babbling curse taking away her judgment. "Why, we live to serve as moving or in Anna's case, standing targets. Yes, please continue to fire at us at will."

Panting she stood by Tobias, trying to put into practice what Kazi had thought them about expanding their shields, except her wrist wasn't used to working horizontally and the shield she conjured wasn't nearly enough to shield herself, Tobias and the fainted Hufflepuff. "Finite, Avalon! Do something useful! How old are you? Why am I defending you? I don't even like your hair. It's distractingly curly. Oh, Merlin help me shut up!"

"Are you confused? Light your wand, boy... like this." He flick-tapped the air with his wand. ""Lumos. Practice that and then, once it is lit I will help you."

"Good try. The wand motion needs to be sharper, however-- remember what you learned in hex and jinx practicals, it is the same defensive position but requires more magical focus to block."

"Finite." Kazimeriz cast lazily. "Remember- a precision block. Put more of your shoulder into the move. Like so." He cast a shield charm with a lithe, quick motion. "Try again."


"You may, if you hit them. Then, please cast on the same person again. You all must master this skill- blocking a curse is just like blocking a hex or jinx, but with much more focus and energy applied, for what is coming at you is significantly stronger."

Kazimeriz shook his head. "Finite. Try again... If you're injured the healer is here to help you."
"Windsong, don't sit there like a lump on a troll's nose. Participate or you will lose points for your house." Kazimeriz sneered.

Drat, apparantly protecting others wasn't enough....she'd actually have to harm somebody or lose points.

She aimed her wand at Tobi and shot a Babbling Curse at him...after all, he did like to chat a bit. Then she immediately put her shield back up, just in case her curse missed. She didn't think Tobi would take the attack lightly.

Oh no no! No nonono! That curse RUINS LIVES! RUINS THEM! "PROTEGO!" Tobi bellowed, sweeping his wand out to throw a good solid shield out.

It bounced back and Tobi didn't see where it went or care, so long as it didn't get him again.

Qaz watched as Tobi protected himself successfully. Now, she had to pick another victim, as much as she hated to, she spotted a little Huffie names Ana...and shot a Babbling Curse at her...and felt just awful about it.

Right. So she should probably get started, even if these curses were less than thrilling. She scanned the room until she set her eyes on an unsuspecting Gryffie boy. He would do nicely. She tossed a spongy- knees curse at him and waited. Why couldn't they use real curses. Her father would be embarrassed for her right now, were he still alive.

Anna glanced up at Cela as if her Ravenclaw friend had gone completely insane. Are you alright? What kind of blasted question was that? Her left hand felt like a pile of mushy mashed potatoes and not a single inch of her legs would move. Nevertheless, Anna knew Cela was doing this as part of the class assignment. Waving her right hand in the air (simply because that was pretty much the only operating body part she had), Anna replied with, "Never been better, Cela! Never been better..."

"Yeah, thanks Ravenclaw...for, erm, whatever it is Cela keeps thanking everyone for," Anna replied, following Daphne's lead. Anna turned around slightly---not so much that she'd put herself in a position to miss the next curse thrown at her, though. Was Hopton hovering behind her now? For Merlin's sake! What was it with all the Gryffindors using her as some human shield? Save self...sacrifice the prefect, that's what this was.

Anna slightly stumbled as the effects from curses were lifted. She steadied herself and moved around a bit, allowing her legs the movement they'd been denied for the past five or ten minutes. Anna looked up to give Cope her thanks, but he was a bit too busy trying to curse her once again. What on Earth? Anna raised her wand and called out a confident "Protego," blocking the spell perfectly. Ha! She'd done it!

"Slytherins and Ravenclaws, cease fire. Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs, it is time to retaliate. You may fire at will; the same rules apply." Kazimeriz smirked as he watched the students, noting who had the best form and who needed work.

Curses are flying! Curses Are Flying!!!! Ahhh! Nasty Spongy Knees Curse at 2 O'clock! Tobi momentarily forgot he was a wizard and did what he did best. He Ducked and Covered.

The curse flew inches over his head.

He jumped back onto his feet. "That wasn't so bad."

Oh, excellent! It was time for a little payback! Spotting Copernicus across the room (with Cela right behind him), Anna raised her wand and aimed it accordingly. "Copernicus Kettleburn," Anna stated, ready to give him a little taste of what he'd been giving her. With a proper swish of her wand, Anna called out, "Locomotor Mortis!" sending the leg-locker right at her Ravenclaw friend. With any luck, she'd hit him the first time, and it'd lock his legs up in a painful bind the way her's had been. That had been one painfully aching curse!

"Five points from your house for muggle defense, Avalon. You didn't even raise your wand. If you gamble that your opponent has poor aim, you gamble with your very lives. Now, somebody attempt to curse him before I do it myself." Kazimeriz spat his words out, obviously annoyed.

Camira bit her lip to keep from snickering. It really was quite funny. She eyed the professor, then shrugged, pointing her wand at Tobi again, aiming directly for his torso this time so he couldn't jump or duck. She tossed out a babbling curse, and a "petrificus totalus" for good measure.

Oh ho ho ho! Please, allow me, thought Daphne flicking out her wand and sending a Leg-Locker curse at Celandine Toussaint. "Heads up, Celly!" cried out Hopton fairly resisting all urge to kick Tobias while she was at it. Pulling him out of harms way by tugging on his robes, she cursed softly. "Honestly, Avalon!"

She was going to lose her mind. "You have to do something with your wand. Wave it. Throw it. I don't know! But do something before I break out in hives from pure annoyance."

Copernicus had his wand up, fully prepared for some retaliation. He grinned playfully at Anna and gave sort of sarcastic bow when she began setting up to curse him. It was actually... fun to be cursed in this setting. Amazing. When the spell came his way, Copernicus sobered and focused on it. He wasn't going to go down easily this time. "Protego!" The spell bounced away harmlessly.

The spell that was headed for Cela, who was hiding behind him, did take him by surprise. He only just missed getting hit, and he swept his arm back to clear Cela out of the way too. "You have to be look-out, Toussaint!"

"While you are busy with this exercise, if there is any student who has not completed the worksheet at the beginning of class, return to your desk immediately and complete it, as I will be collecting them shortly. Every student must complete this task." Kazimeriz stated, watching the students practice their wand work.

WOW. Copernicus was amazing. AMAZING. Cela poked her tongue out at Daphne and waggled her wand teasingly. Wait... "Toussaint?" Cela gave Copernicus a little pout even while she regained her footing, wand up and ready to shield. Lucky her wand was up too, "Protego!" Cela cast, her shield bouncing off the curse sent by Tobi before fizzling out immediately.

The thing was, her shielding technique was fast, but not particularly strong or long lasting even with the practice she had put in.

Abby notices Camira throwing curses at Professor Kazimeriz. She aims her wand at Camira and send a babbling curse her way.

Cam watched carefully as the old man made his wand light up. It looked so shiny and cool! Wait, he was actually suppose to practice it? Giving a sad look he looked at his green wand and tried to practice the flick thingy the professor did. That wasn't fair, he really wanted to curse someone and everything! Bleh, he continued to practice with the flashlight spell and didn't want to waste time at all. He was going to curse someone eventually, jealous at the other people who were doing the curses.

"Lumos!" he spoke and flicked-tapped his wand in the air. The only thing he saw was a bit of a light that was coming out of it. "Lumos!" He spoke it again, not again but several times after that until he finally made it light a bit.

Just his luck.

A few minutes after he'd done it, they were switching. That meant alternating, learning the flashlight spell was like, for nothing now! Unless they rotated again... "Dun hurt me!" he quietly pleaded and then put out his wand.

"Protego!" He wasn't the expert at the shield charm, it couldn't have lasted that long really.
