Arithmancy Lesson 1: Basics Professor Wenlock is seated at his desk at the front of the classroom. As he waits for the students to arrive, he slides beads back and forth on a device in front of him and takes notes on a piece of parchment. |
Tia walked inside the Arithmancy Classroom, feeling both enthusiastic and very slightly nervous. She looked around and, perceiving the class to be pretty empty, made her way over to the Professor, her bag hanging down from her right shoulder. "Good Morning, Professor," she said brightly, casting around for an empty seat. This proved to be an extremely easy task, since almost all - Who was she kidding, all of them, not almost all - of the seats were so. She sat down at the front, unstrapping her bag from her shoudler and taking out ink, quill and parchment. She flipped open her Arithmancy book and waited for the class to fill up. |
Jenna strolled into the room and took a seat up front so she wouldn't miss anything. "Hi, professor, how are you today?" she asked, trying to make a good first impression since she wasn't really too social. |
Lumus walks in, looking forward to a good term, hopeful for a grade that shows he has some affinity for this type of stuff. He sees Tia and waves. |
Beck walked into the classroom, saw Tia across the room and gave her a little wave. She walked up and said, "Is it ok for me to sit next to you today?" |
Lee walked into the classroom. This had certainly been a lesson he had been dying to participate in after he first saw the man playing with his toy at the opening feast. Lee walked down the rows and rows of desks and cushioned his behind on a front seat so he could get a good view and first impression of this new Professor. He swung his bag under the desk and decided he would get out his equipment when he actually needed it. |
Jenna saw a boy (Lumus) wave to a girl (Tia). They're friends, thought Jenna. None of mine have showed up yet. And I'm no social butterfly...of course, I'm always open to meeting people and making friends. Jenna realized that she was talking in a low whisper now--she'd been talking out loud again. Oops. She saw a Hufflepuff prefect (Lee) take a seat up front as she had. Jenna was only a few seats down from him. Maybe I should introduce myself, she thought. "Hi," she said. "I'm Jenna. What's your name?" She stuck her hand out so she could shake his. |
Professor Wenlock looks up from his caluculations as students begin to file in to class. He smiles pleasantly to numbers 1 through 5 and greets them with a warm, "hello and good day!" |
Lumus watches the professor, waiting to see what he will do. He is playing with his beads and so, Lumus, with no better idea, takes out his and stares at it. It has always been a mystery to him how to use this device. Maybe here, he would get the answers. |
Adz walked in, eager to learn Arithmancy. She had read a few books on the subject and had been assured by her friends that it was something that she would enjoy, though she was not at all sure how to do it. She looked forward to being taught. She brought at the abacus that she had been told to bring and sat down at a nearby desk. |
"Hello Professor," Jackie said happily as she walked in. She was looking forward to Arithmancy. |
Professor Wenlock was pleased as numbers 6 and 7 arrived. Quote:

"Jacqueline Cobblesten," Jackie said, jumping a bit as the professor surprised her. |
Nick Longdo walks into the Arithmancy classroom. "Hello Professor. I'm a #5! Remember?" Nick said with a slight chuckle, remembering when they first met in the Professor's Office, as he took a seat in the middle row. |

"Professor Wenlock?" Jenna asked the professor as she raised her hand. "If Jackie's number 7, and Jackie was the seventh student to enter the room, does this mean I'm number 2 since I was the second?" What a weird method, thought Jenna. Interesting, though. |
Jamie slipped into the classroom, feeling possibly a bit nauseous. Numbers weren't his best friends, at all. He spied Lee and scurried over towards him, having a seat behind him. "Hi Lee," he whispered, not wanting to chat and disturb the Professor. |
Lee was bombarded by other students talking to him. He turned to the first, a fello huffie, "Hey there Jenna, I am Lee pleased to meet you." Lee's attention, however turned to Jamie who had taken a seat beside him, "Hey there Jamie! Taking good care of your ferret?" |
Ali strolled into the room and said "Hi" to the professor. He saw something which looked like an abacus on it's side and stared at it for a second. Ali turned around to take a seat and pulled out his book waiting for the class to begin. |
Hermy entered the classroom and smiled at the professor. She headed to a desk near Lumus, and slide her bag off her shoulder. Getting her things out, she sat and observed the room around her. |
Jamie grinned sheepishly at Lee. "Yeaaaaah," he admitted with an embarassed giggle. "Sergent Gus Gus has been better. Not escaping quite so much lately." He ran a hand through the back of his curls, in an almost cartoon-like manner. "And you.... you been keeping well?" |

Adz looked confused, and quickly opened her Arithmancy book with a sigh. She knew very little about this subject and realised it was starting to show. She looked around, hoping that she was not alone in her confusion. |
"I've been keeping good if you don't count the countless number of fights and idiots in this school," Lee groaned running his fingers through his hair. "But there will be idiots ever where you go. Remember that Jamie," Lee said tapping the boy on the head with his index finger. |
Nick looked over too the girl the Professor was talking about. He waved at her and opened up his Arithmancy book quickly. This was his favorite subject! |
Siriana looked around the classroom puzzled. Scratching her head she thought At least the Professor is pleasant..haha?. Spotting a slytherin girl on the right looking as confused as she did she sighed and smiled. At least she wasn't alone. |
