Feliks laughed lightly at both the nudge from Viano and the comment. "I have no reason to be jealous of her, do I?" A sideways glance and slight raise of one brow was directed at the other boy. "I've been your friend longer so obviously I'm more important to you." This was said with a very clear teasing tone, he wasn't at all one to think of feel about things in that way. Everyone was equally important and special. "Could be? It certainly helps. As for you speaking French to her... She's going to melt." Knows his younger sister better than anyone. "Has she spoken to you in any other languages yet? Cause she can." Their parents mainly taught them but the whole family had a hand in how much or little they could speak. "You think?" He didn't really consider it being understanding... Just... More of a brother trying to hang around with his friend without the little sister getting in the way constantly. Not to worry, this boy knew where his buddy's heart lie and that was A-Okay with him. Anything between them was strictly a close and comfortable friendship. "True. I'm sure we could both come up with some form of protection from rain." Fingers crossed though that they need not worry about that. Nod. Nod. "Sure thing." Dark eyes scanned the boat house for a set of oars that were in good condition and two life jackets. "Here we go." He grinned at Vi as he walked back towards him, offering him one of the life jackets. |
Vi caught the look and by extension, the arched eyebrow. He also recognised the teasing in Fel’s voice. “You have no reason to be because you and I will always be friends.” In his mind, the two of them had one of those friendships that would last forever. Gabs melting when he spoke French was something he could actually picture happening. "She hasn’t.” He eyed Feliks curiously. “She’s been holding out on me. What other languages can she speak, Fel?” As for the other guy being understanding… “I don’t think it, I know it!” “We’ll figure it out. Right now, the only thing we should worry about is having a good time.” Which was the most important thing on the Gryffindor’s mind. The Levitation Charm was one that he had thankfully mastered, so there was no difficulty in him getting the boat out. However, lowering it gently into the Lake took a bit more concentration and finesse. With a slight SPLASH!, the boat sat on the water waiting for the boys to climb in. By that time, Fel had reached him with the oars and lifejackets. “Thanks, Fel.” He accepted the light blue lifejacket then shrugged it on. Only then did he carefully jump into the boat, the action making it rock slightly. “You can hand the oars to me,’’ Vi said, looking up at his friend. |
"As long as that never changes I'll be good." The teens words were honest and sincere. Friendship was highly important to him. Something in his friends voice had him laughing. "It would appear that she has. Mainly Russian and Slavic." That's what they spoke the most with family anyhow. Why this made him feel all warm and happy inside, Feli wasn't entirely sure but he couldn't hide his smile from Vi. "Thanks. That means a lot." Between Gabby and him, he was obviously the more sensitive of the two. "If that's what were meant to be focused on, let's get to it!" All other thoughts beside sitting in a boat out on the lake were pushed aside. The way Vi worked that Levitation charm on the water, perfection. It hadn't gone unnoticed at all. His grin likely said it all "Epic work, Mate!". "No problem." Fel shrugged his own lifejacket on first so that he was ready to pass Vi the oars once he was settled into the boat. "Here you go." Each oar was passed to Vi. Carefully he stepped down into the boat, opposite his buddy doing his best not to make it rock too much. "Ready?" |
Vi nodded. He and Fel were on the same page when it came to their friendship. He knew they were going to be friends for life! As for Gabs, later on, he was going to tease her so badly about keeping her multilingual a secret. It was only fair since she heard him speak Italian and Spanish, right? Back to Fel… yes, Viano was quite aware how sensitive his friend was. This wasn’t a bad thing, it just made him want to protect the Slytherin even more. Oh yes, the Gryffindor did catch that smile and figured it meant some sort of complement. What could be said about the spellwork other than he tried his best? And that there were very capable professors at Hogwarts to help with them all? With the oars safely aboard, and Fel too, Vi grabbed an oar. He held it over the right side of the boat, dipping it shallowly into the water as though testing it. “All set!’’ he confirmed when the question was asked. His gaze lifted to Fel’s. “Let’s go!’’ The oar was dipped into the Lake, hopefully in synch with his friend’s. |
Viano's confidence about pretty much everything in life really needed to rub off on him now, please and thanks! Gryffindor was the perfect house for his buddy because Vi didn't seem to be afraid of anything. Unlike him, how he was a Slytherin... He had no idea. As for Vi teasing his sister, he was more than welcome to. That girl deserved it most of the time. Plus, he knew the teasing was completely harmless when it came from the guy at his side. Indeed it had! Wherever words failed him.. smiles, grins and other small looks tended to do the trick. Okay, that was fairly said. They did have very competent professors. There certainly wasn't anything he could complain about... Expect for maybe all of the essays they always needed to write. Quickly getting himself settled onto his side of the boat, Feli took the other oar into his hands. "Off we go!" He grinned widely at Vi, the oar in his hands dipping down into and through the water smoothly. If his timing was off on that, it wasn't anything they couldn't fix in a few short moments. But he thought they were doing a fine job so far. The boat was moving, was it not? |
If Fel kept hanging out with Vi, for sure that confidence would transfer to him; after all, Vi was more than willing to share. Him being brave had a lot to do with his earlier life when he lived in Italy. He had incorporated bravery within it to make sure no one took advantage of him as an orphan. And, of course, to try to keep anyone from getting close to him. Obviously that had backfired on him since the Thanatos-Misra family had banged over that wall that he had put up. Feliks didn’t need to worry about them rowing out of sync. Vi, in most instances, would be able to easily match his friend’s pace. After all, this was something they did without effort. “Sure your arms aren’t going to get tired soon?” Vi couldn’t resist teasing. “If you do, you can always charm the oar to do the work.” Vi now took the time to take a good look about the Lake. Would they see Sir Bartholomew? By the looks of it, the Giant Squid was not sunbathing today. |
Feliks could only see that as a positive thing. The more confidence he could manage to gather up, the better, yes? Maybe he could borrow some of Gabs and Amph's confidence too. Those two were just oozing the stuff. Ha! Poor Vi had totally failed in that sense. If he had planned on remaining guarded and keeping up walls... That had come toppling down before Fel had even met him he thought. Whatever spell his family had over him was a fantastic one. Everyone should feel safe, loved and happy and the Thanatos-Misra clan overflowed with it all. Oi! Was there anything his friend wasn't good at? The way they automatically fell in sync with their rowing left no room for Feli to be concerned about anything. What was this? Vi had jokes now, did he? The teen laughed. "I can handle it." And even if he couldn't, he wouldn't say so. Even if charming the oars to do the rowing for them would be much easier. A slow survey of the lake showed no real movement of any kind besides the gentle ripples of water from their rowing. "What do you think Sir Bartholomew does all day long when he's not up here sunbathing?" Did he ever get bored of lonely being the only one of his kind in the lake? |
Oh, there was lots Vi couldn’t do; Fel just happened to be around when Vi was doing things that he was capable of. But see? They were in sync with their hand movements, the rowing went quite smoothly. And yes, he did have jokes at the moment, which was great because it was always nice to see and hear his friend laugh. “I know you can,’’ Vi responded, grinning. Fel was also capable like that. As the Gryffindor continued to enjoy the moment of silence as he pondered about the Giant Squid. It seemed Feliks was having the same train of thought, which was nice. “That's a good question,’’ he remarked with a tilt of his head. “Hmm.” Vi continued rowing, this time in thoughtful silence. “I think he’s deep in the lake, making conversation with his friends. Like the Merpeople, maybe even Grindylows.” Yep, The Lion liked that use of his imagination. “What do you think, Fel?” |
Welp, in this young lads mind, his buddy was great at basically everything. Especially Quidditch. Yes, Feliks had taken notice to how smoothly their movements had fallen into sync, the boat gliding easily across the lake. Those jokes, Fel didn't mind them in the least. In fact he always welcomed them. Laughter was the best medicine after all. Feli returned the grin happily. It warmed his heart knowing that Vi had strong confidence in him. Always in sync, riiiiioght? Even with their thoughts. There was a slow nod of his which caused his hair to end up in his eyes, a nice shake of his head fixed that problem. "Yeah, that's true. He probably has lots of friends down there." With all the creatures in the lake surely they all were aware of one another. "I like to think that he has a nice home down there too, that he can go into to escape it all if he wants to be alone. But... Then I remember he's the only one of his kind here and that's sorta sad." |
Vi would always be grateful to Fel for having that level of confidence in him. Quidditch is life, and had been fortunate to inherit that talent from Papa Raju. Yes, he gave credit to his papa not to his real parents, whomever they may be. Not that Vi cared to ever find out. The thought of his biological parents always made his anger surface. But not at this moment. His only focus was Fel and their little outing. The Gryffindor studied the way in which Fel’s hair became a hindrance to his eyes. In his opinion, it made Fel look cuter, just as the way his head was shaken. “You could have just asked me to get the hair out of your eyes, you know,’’ he remarked, casually and flirtatiously. He smirked slightly. “I imagine he does. Now that I think about it, he also must have seen many of his friends leave. Die, I mean. That’s a sad thought.” Because Bartholomew had been around for so many years! “I can see that, him needing to recharge after socialising with all his friends.” Then Fel spoke another sad thought. “The poor Squid. We should try to chat with him whenever we see him around. I’m sure he can never have too many of those. Don’t you think, Fel?” |
Hey, that's what friends are for. Plus, Feliks had seen Vi play Quidditch and knew for a fact that what his friend had, was nothing short of pure talent. This fourth year on the other hand wasn't very good at the sport, though he tried his best. Did it? Fel didn't exactly think so but then again maybe that was simply because his hair was often in his eyes. "I could've but then I'd be asking you for your help every two minutes," he replied with a grin. Give his hair a few minutes and it would be right back where it had been moments ago. That flirting tone didn't go unnoticed! Viano's words had him crinkling up his nose. "Yeah, I can't imagine how many he's lost through the years." Surely it was quite a few. Nod nod. He totally agreed and would remind Gabby and his cousin Sophia to do the same. "I'm sure he'd really like that." |
Vi didn’t necessarily think that Fel was bad at Quidditch but he would often offer to give him a few tips and demonstrations that would enhance his abilities. Who knows, maybe his friend would be inspired to try out for his House team. It did! “You make it sound as though I would mind,’’ Vi responded, still in that flirtatious manner and with a playful roll of his eyes. Maybe the next time those strands got in Fel’s way, he would leap forward to brush it out of his face. But back to talk of the Giant Squid! He himself couldn’t imagine what it would be like to lose a whole lot of people he cared about. Did having your heart broken on a daily basis count, when you watched your crush crushing on someone else count as an equivalent to losing friends? “Yep. Too bad he doesn’t seem to be around presently.” Oh well. Vi leaned back a bit, feeling utterly relaxed. It must be something in the air that was making him this calm. |
Those tips he got from Vi while playing Quidditch together, Fel did his best to use them. Sometimes the help worked and other times... Not so much. As fun as that sounded, he wasn't too sure about that. Quidditch was definitely Viano's thing. The roll of his buddies eyes and that time had him laughing. "Okay, okay. Fair enough. From now on you can be my official helper of keeping my hair out of my eyes." This was said with a wide playful grin. When he really considered how the Giant Squid must feel it was depressing. With as many people and creature friends the Squid may have lost, maybe he made even more? Year after year new students started at Hogwarts so at least that was new friends? How many families had the Squid met? Students, siblings, cousins, maybe even their parents before them. Just think of all the stories that could be told!"Yeah, I don't see any signs of him being around today but I'll check for him whenever I'm over this way." Something in the air? Nah, Feliks knew it was simply his presence that made Vi so relaxed. Joking! Maybe. |
Vi chuckled, and it quickly turned into a small smirk. “That’s a title I will wear with great honour.” His and Fel’s friendly banter and playfulness were some of the highlights of his days at Hogwarts. He briefly wondered whether that would change after they graduated some years from now. After all, life was quite unpredictable. If their respective careers got them too busy, would they have time to even think of each other? If they did, would they get sad like how maybe, probably the Giant Squid did? Ugh. Vi pushed those thoughts away. He needed to focus on this moment fully! Instead, he nodded in acknowledgement to the next set of words as his hands dedicatedly worked the oar. Vi lapsed into silence again but only for a bit as he studied the distance they had travelled in the boat. “Should we stop for a while and catch some proper sunlight? Work on our tans?” he asked, grinning. |
Feliks shook his head in laughter. "Why doesn't that surprise me?" What was this?! Clearly a friendship like theirs would continue onward through college and whatever else came after that for them both. Nothing should come in the way when magic was at their fingertips. Distance wouldn't matter when floo powder and apparation were possible. I'm a few more years for the latter one anyhow. Each movement of the oars was precise. They had already gone further across the lake than Felt would've guessed if he didn't see it. "Tans? I don't know about that happening today but I'm all for relaxing for a bit." They could sit in silence or chat some more while the small row boat drifted along on its own. |
Viano grinned as Fel’s laughter filled the air. “Because you know how I think, I would say,’’ he spoke up in slight amusement but in actuality, was quite serious. Fel did know him and the way his brain worked. The Gryffindor, in any case, would have been relieved to have verbal confirmation that his friend was also willing to put in the work for their friendship in the years to come. Maybe some day they’d both verbalise that. Vi chuckled. “Tan, relaxing… practically the same thing. We can just do nothing for a bit.” To reinforce his words, he placed the oars in a resting position. He hadn’t realised it but his arms were somewhat grateful for the rest. Perhaps he needed to do a bit of extra training during Quidditch, training that would focus on his arms. Vi tilted his face up at the sun, letting the rays hit his face. This was a great way to relax and not have to do anything at all. |
May of 2118: A warm weekend in May sees Ren and Raju enjoying a short weekend away to Switzerland. Characters: Renner Thanatos-Misra (Kolyander) Raji Thanatos-Misra Finally. This was going to be a marvelous weekend. Ren stepped into the small but very comfortable house that was to be all there's for the next couple of days. "Well this is nice. What do you think?" His question was directed towards Raju. "Currently not the largest place we've stayed in but it is only the two of us." Nearly all of their vacations now included at least one of their four kids. Setting a suitcase down near the couch, Ren wasted no time at all heading for the kitchen. One couldn't cook properly if they didn't have lots of space! "Well would you look at this!" He called out, gesturing for the husband to come join him. "Isn't this a fabulous gift basket?" Said basket was overflowing with delightful snacks and drinks. Such a nice welcome if anyone asked him. |
