Sugarplum's Sweet Shop
|
hi :3 It was day two of his Diagon Alley shopping and after saying goodbye to his older brother at the entrance of Diagon Alley, Daniel went his own way. His first destination was Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop. He had been craving something sweet ever since he had gotten home from school. His parents were strict about how much sugar he and his brother consumed but what they didn’t know, couldn’t hurt them right? He pushed open the shop door and walked down the aisles for a few moments before grabbing a bag, which he filled with lemon drops before moving on to grab a couple of Chocolate Frogs. |
flipped a coin, u get my visiting beaux bby! :3 Quote:
And she probably should have figured the Alley would be extra packed today. It was a wonderful summer day so surely many kids, fresh out of school, were present. Not to worry! She had her extra fab and comfy shoes on, and she was determined to brave the sea of British youth around her. Not entirely sure which establishment to start with, Etta found herself entering what looked like the sweet shop. The sweet tooth in her was absolutely tickled. She could already see herself buying a little bit of everything to try for herself and to send to Lissie, Mimi, and Lili. She stopped by one of the aisles, seeing a boy close to her age, and picked up a lemon drop from the displays that she had seen him grab from earlier. "Hello there. Would you recommend these?" Etta turned to the boy and asked. |

Deciding to purchase multiple chocolate frog packs instead of one, Daniel placed four in his small basket and returned down the aisle he had just come from after seeing another type of candy. He turned around to walk over to the cashier and pay for his bag of candy and the packages of chocolate when he was stopped by a girl his own age asking him a question. He adjusted the sunglasses on top of his head as he felt them slide down before glancing at the lemon drop. ”….Yes?” he questioned, perplexed as to why anyone would want a candy recommendation of all things. "I mean, i like them but that doesn't mean everyone does..." |
'allo, Joel If you didn't go to the healer, then you couldn't get any bad news. It was this completely abnormal logic that Atlas ignorantly insisted on applying to his final term of Hogwarts. If he didn't think about summer coming to and end and the impending solitude that would follow as, for the first time since Aries left the womb one minute earlier, he would not be in the same location as his brother...then it wasn't actually happening. Obviously. The "seventh year" also realized that while all this time he had accused Aries as being the clinging and dependent one...it was actually himself who manifested such an atypical Flamsteed personality. Talk about embarrassing. While he was understanding and downright proud of his brother, he also could not help it that the air tasted bitter whenever he thought about the term ahead. So...he wasn't. So there. Stubborn and petty? Such unexpected behaviors of one Atlas Leonel Flamsteed. And he certainly wasn't here attempting to restock on some comfort sweets as a result of this unwonted sadness. No, it was only because his stash was nothing but wrappers after all of the living out of their backpacks he and Aries had done all summer as they traveled around Europe and dipped overseas to just a few places where dad had some contacts. None of this, he realized now, had helped at all with his codependency. With only a couple of weeks in which he could work at Wiseacre's, his ladybug leather wallet was feeling like someone had cast a Featherlight Charm on it compared to what had been at the start of summer. The memories were worth it, he tried reassuring himself, but it was just another reminder of the thing he was not thinking about. Sugar Quills first. |

Back to the boy, though. "I like your sunglasses." Etta tried not to be too snoopy about them, but she just always found herself trying to peek at the brands of people's accessories. Kind of hard to tell from this angle. "You make a fair point about the lemon drops, though," she replied, but still Etta was taking what he said as a solid recommendation and so she tossed a few of the lemon drops into her own basket, as well as some chocolate frogs because those looked like a specialty. She wasn't settling for just chocolate frogs and lemon drops though. "Last sweet-related question. If you could have one other sweet from this shop besides the frogs and the lemon drops, what would it be?" Etta smiled and wiggled her fingers as she waited for another recommendation, albeit an indirect one. Very easy to tell she wasn't from here at all, but she didn't care. |
For Sophia/Waddles! After what was surely several hours spent getting nearly everything on her Hogwarts list, Everleigh had went off to do a little shopping on her own. Her younger sister Maddie was proving to be quite the handful the last hour or so, so her parents took the girl to look at the creatures in another shop. Which was okay with Evy, she didn't mind being on her own for a tiny bit. Entering the shop the very first thing she did was grab a basket. The young girl knew for sure that she was going to be needing one of those. It was going to be a little while before she got to go into a sweets shop again so it was best to stock up now while she could. Where to start? The very first aisle and make her way up and down them all so she didn't miss anything? That sounded like a very Evy-like thing to do. With a great amount of purpose and a bright smile, she bounced her way down the first aisle, big blue eyes taking in all of the sweets as she went. |
Quote:
The Hufflepuff thought she was odd, and instead of responding to her question, Daniel looked at her suspiciously. "Why are you asking? Have you never had candy before?" Why was she seeking advice from a stranger? Shouldn't she have figured out at this age which candy she liked and which she didn't? |

He got that summer time, summer time happiness.. Freddie separated from his twin again to restock on his goodies. The sweets that matched his usual mood. This season in his Gobstones matches were on a roll, having won the last match, he had a good feeling they'd place in the top spot or at least top 3. It was a great break from his parents usual get togethers and trips. He loved their summer traditions, but some variety was nice all the same. Anyways, Freddie stepped into the shop fresh coins jingling in his pocket as he went to survey the usual spot when... He felt a familiar flip inside of him. His buddy! His energy refilled instantly at the first sight of any friend, especially a Squishy sight.. but this was slightly different this flip. He felt happy but a little nervous... Shaking his head, he couldn't break tradition for a little hesitation. So stepping as casual as possible Freddie walked up behind Atlas covering his eyes from behind, "Guess who?" |

Focused on reading the name of every type of sweet on the shelves, Sophia wandered down the first aisle. Who knew there were so many different types? She wondered if she could ask her sister Honora to make some of them herself, if she didn't buy them. Honora was talented like that. She was so focused on feasting with her eyes that she didn't notice another girl, and bumped into her. "Ooops!" Sophia said in alarm, turning to apologize. "I'm sorry!!" Hopefully she hadn't caused the other girl to drop anything?? |

Just sayin'. The sugar quill in the blonde's hand was rather unremarkable as far as sugar quills were concerned. It was delicate and light, just as spun sugar ought to be. What made this sugar quill stand out amongst the others was the remarkable view it had of that very same blonde not-a-boy-not-yet-a-man's face turning a rather remarkable shade of pink and jolting in surprise quite violently. The pink was one that would would make the pygmy puff's jealous. The pink soon blended into a hot red color, much like the cinnamon sweets of which the sugar quill had once shared a shelf with, that was cover by the strappy and peachy colored hands of someone else. The quill could certainly not guess who they were (the quill did not even know the boy who was currently holding it - and had been holding him entirely too long, to the point that if it had not been a magical sweet it likely would have turned into a sticky mess). The boy whose eyes were covered certainly had a voice that sounded like a sticky mess as he stammered over sounds that may or may not have been words - it was only a sugar quill, after all. A sugar quill that was now being lifted up and pressed against the back of the hand of the other not-a-boy-not-yet-a-man. Truly, how had it not melted yet? It was quite warm in here! |
Quote:
Freddie wondered if his hands perhaps missed the eyes and covered Atlas' mouth from what sounded like mumbling.. Or maybe he was eating something? That must be it since the warmth from one's mouth would've been easily recognized. Instead the knuckles of his hand started to feel a little brush that tickled him, "Close enough!" He laughed, lowering the hands to Atlas' hold shoulders briefly as support to pier his head around to see Atlas. "I see you have the same thing on my mind," Freddie beamed lowering the hands back to his own sides. "The sugar rush, are you just getting the quills today? I was thinking on what to get first since I want to get a little of everything," Then he remembered what he was supposed to do which got him to feel red in the face, "I uh mean... how are you?" Looking at Atlas, there was something a little different about him that Freddie couldn't place. It hadn't been that long since they saw each other. He looked even nicer. Was this a part of growing into adulthood? He didn't want to think too long as his hands moved to his pockets while he lightly bounced off his heels in anticipation. |
Quote:
However, the bit of excitement in her died the moment she felt like he was judging her. With that suspicious look he was giving her, it could only mean that. Etta raised an eyebrow. "I don't live under a rock. Of course, I've had candy before." That was such a wild assumption. Who hasn't had candy? "I'm not from here, and sweet shops have their specialty candy and I figured you might know the good stuff since you look like you know your way around. Pardon me for asking." She wasn't really sorry, though. "Honestly, I'm not trying to steal from you or whatever you think. You can stop looking at me like that." Etta was feeling nice and winked at him. Plus, if he didn't want to answer her question, he could just say so and she'd leave him to it. |
Quote:
It's okay, I'm alright. Are you okay?" She smiled softly, to show she wasn't harmed nor upset. Accidents happen and no harm done if they both were alright? A quick glance around the floor proved nothing was dropped or knocked over by either of them either so that was also a plus. |
Quote:
Shrugging his shoulders to ease the tingles left in the wake, he turned to look at Freddie while slipping his hands into his pockets - quill and all. Another summer of completely unintentional shoplifting? Why break tradition now? "Uuuuuh...yeah...um...restocking..." he nodded in agreement with Freddie's general sentiment without committing to any one particular sentiment. "I'm...er...out of everything." As well as pretty much out of coin, so it was going to be a pretty sparse restocking. Especially if he wanted to get something from the trolley this year - which he did as one last hurrah or whatever. Truth was he was testing the hopping speed and rate of chocolate frogs purchased from various locations against his own formula. "I'm..." He hesitated for a couple of breaths because 'fine' felt like the obvious response when you were anything BUT that. 'Good' felt like too outright a lie to commit to. "...bummed summer is coming to an end." There. Honest and could be able just about anything. "Nice weather today though. Sun. Sunny. Warm." |
Quote:
Her next set of words elicited a snort and a shake of the head from him. "You're not from around here?" he repeated, implying that he was curious about where she was from. He paused for a moment to consider what she was saying, and he may have overreacted slightly. He was good at overreacting according to his friends. "OK, I didn't know sweet shops had specialties" he assumed they were all the same. He was pretty much saying sorry without saying sorry. Her wink, on the other hand, caused a different reaction. The Hufflepuff had to turn around as his ears turned red and as a distraction, he pointed to the shelf next to him"Chocolate fudge is also good"he suggested. He wasn't even a big fan of fudge himself but he heard it was good. |
Quote:
"I'm okay," she said softly, sticking her hands in her pockets. She peered into the other girl's empty basket. "Haven't you found anything good?" |
Quote:
But excuse him for that snort! Etta's eyebrows furrowed at the boy. "You heard me. Does it sound surprising?" But since she was nice, she was going to entertain his repetition of a question. "I'm from Spain. I go to Beauxbatons. I assume you're....from Hogwarts?" Etta didn't know anyone who went to that school, aside from cousins Diego and Amaia who went there for a few terms. And Felicity, who is very much family now. But they're much older, anyway, and there's nobody at that school now that Etta knew. "Well, now you do," she said, back to her smiling self now that she managed to get a recommendation from the boy. "Thank you!" Etta turned to the many displays of fudge that the boy was pointing at. Just a galleon a pound too! Very nice. Though, she wasn't sure about that peanut butter and jellyfish. Chocolate dragon too, that one sounded adventurous. She went basic and got milk chocolate instead. "I'm Loretta. What's your name, Sir Gentle Monster?" Because that nickname was going to stick now, apparently. |
Quote:
A small smile formed on her lips when she heard that the other girl said that she was alright too. However at the question, she glanced down into her empty basket, her smile turning into a thoughtful expression. There's lots of really good sweets to choose from." It wasn't always easy to pick out exactly what she wanted. Plus, she wanted to get something for her little sister too. |

Depending on how long reality set in since things happened to be on a turbo for not so young Freddie. As he hobbled with his eyes on Atlas, there was definitely a comfort feeling. He couldn't tell what was on Atlas mind exactly other than him being in his own thoughts. He Freddie did notice that quill going into Atlas' pocket and for once he didn't point it out, instead smiling a bit wider, "So Atlas, what's on your agenda this year? Any special projects I can help you with?" Here he was almost like a labrador at the ready. |
Quote:
Grabbing a few more things from the shelf and busying his focus on selecting the boxes with the least amount of blemishes so he wouldn't talk about the weather anymore, he counted the items in his basket before lifting his gaze back to his mate. "Oh...uh..." Yes. A whole bucket list of projects, pranks and proposals that had meant to be accomplished with someone else. "...yeah...some," he nodded noncommittedly. He did not want to deal with any potential kicked labrador eyes in outright saying no. "We, uh, can have a formal consultation back in the dorms." At the very least he could have Freddie help him polish and clean his parts. |

Chocolate frogs were fine (a little boring, in her opinion), but she was curious about peppermint toads. "Where are the peppermint toads?" she asked the girl. "I'm Sophia, by the way." |
Everleigh simply couldn't help it. It was in her to always be nice to others and when they were being nice back, well that only made things even better. My sister is younger than I am so the only thing she really makes is messes," she giggled. This was meant as a little teasing joke, no hard feelings to her sister Maddie who she absolutely adored very much! "Chocolate frogs are good.. unless they manage to hop away on you." Then it was sort of a waste of coins as you were out of the chocolate frog and only had a card. Which she wasn't really much of a collector of. Ooooh, well they are kinda like a peppermint flavored cream that that looks like a little toad." Evy explained, leaving out one minor detail about them for now. "Nice to meet you, Sophia! I'm Everleigh but everyone mostly calls me Evy." |
open post~ Meredith held a large bag of sweets in her hand that she had just purchased at the counter. Sweets were something she didn't get to buy very often, but after saving her money she had finally been able to. Her fifth year was about to begin, which meant she'd have to take her exams at the end of the year. It was something she was not looking forward to. She walked to the exit of the shop, thinking about how and where to conceal the bag from the other residents at Stemp House when she came to an abrupt halt. The gumball machines had caught her attention. She reached into her pocket with her free hand, looking for any spare change. |
*snags* Quote:
As she stepped through the door, she nearly collided with another girl about her age by the gumball machine. “Oh! Hi,” she said, stepping aside just in time. She remembered seeing the other girl around school but hadn’t talked to her much. What was her name? Something with an M… “Meredith, right?” |
Quote:
Meredith crouched down to eye-level with the gumball machine after finding the money in her pocket and inserting the coin. She turned the handle at the front and waited... and waited.... and waited... The Gryffindor frowned as her prize did not fall, and she shook the machine slightly as the shop door opened up. She completely missed the other girl's apology because she was too preoccupied with slapping the top of the gumball machine in the hopes of causing her prize to fall down and only looked up when she heard her name. "I'm not doing anything!" she said, turning around and holding her hands up. "Sorry. I thought you worked here..." Meredith recognized the girl from class and was certain they were in the same year. But her name had slipped her mind completely. "That's me, yea" she nodded, leaning her arm on top of the gumball machine to guard it in case a snot-nosed kid wanted to try it and claimed HER prize. "You're a Ravenclaw, right?" |
Quote:
She shook her head in reply to the question. “No, I’m in Hufflepuff,” she said. Though she was flattered to be mistaken for a Ravenclaw. Most people thought she wasn’t smart enough for that house! “I’m Desiree,” she introduced herself, unsure if Meredith already knew her name. Her blue eyes momentarily flicked toward the gumball machine on which the other girl rested her arm. “Is there something wrong with that machine?” |
Quote:
As the girl mentioned that she was actually in Hufflepuff, her face gradually began to match her red hair, and she turned her face to look at the gumball machine. That was rather embarrassing. "Oh right, sorry, I am terrible at remembering faces" she half-chuckled. Meredith removed her arm from the gumball machine and knelt down to turn the lever once more. "Yes, I think it is busted or! or! hear me out!" she suddenly jumped up to her feet and leaned closer to the other girl and held a hand before her hand before she whispered; "They are trying to scam us!" She nodded her head importantly. |
Quote:
Her bright blue eyes darted from Meredith to the gumball machine and back again as she considered the scam theory. “I guess it’s possible,” she said. “Stranger things have happened.” Looking at the machine again, a thought occurred to her. “Do you mind if I take a closer look? Maybe we can figure a way to get it out. I promise I won’t take your gumball.” |
Betony <3 Violeta was EXCIIIIIIITED! Not only has she been attending quidditch practices and getting to know all of her new teammates, and spending time with Momo, but she got to hangout with one of her favorite people! The brunette skipped right into the sweet shop as a kind gentleman held the door open for her. After waving a thank you at them, she waited patiently by the door, adjusting her white crop top and cute jean shorts. See, she’s typically not one to arrive early to places, she liked making grand entrances, but she wanted to be here when Betony arrived. She was aware her bestie didn’t like big crowds and Diagon Alley was bustling right now. She also low-key wanted to impress Betony that she WAS capable of arriving early. Violeta didn’t have the best track record for making it on time for classes at school. |
Quote:
Which is why she slipped fairly easily through the crowd, and only had to wait, like, two minutes outside of the shop to ensure her heartrate had calmed down enough. Betony didn't expect Vio to be there already, and so when she pushed the door open she was surprised, and relieved. "Violeta, hey," the red head grinned wide, one reserved for about two people in her life. "I hope you've not been waiting long." If Betony had had a watch, she would have been checking it, but alas, now she was just worried that she was late. |
Quote:
"Hiiiii!" Violeta could tell she surprised Betony, and it made her bounce on the balls of her feet. Her plan had worked and she felt super proud of herself. See, she could stick to things. Like meeting her best friend on time for a shopping trip! “Nope. I got here about five minutes ago,” she beamed. “Got here early, taaa-daaaah!” Her arms went up in the air, a celebration for herself. This was a rare occasion, to be honest. Even her parents had been surprised she had announced she was ready half an hour before the original leaving time. Her hair had been nicely done, she had her purse and a fully charged phone inside it. Was she showing off for Betony? Probably. Had she missed her best friend? YES. |
Quote:
"How is your summer going?" Betony assumed it would be busy, what with Vio's popularity, her new (or forthcoming?) siblings and Quidditch camp. She still hadn't decided what sport she wanted to try, and had stuck to the baking and cooking classes that Stemp House offered. |
Quote:
When it came to exits and familiarizing oneself to their surroundings, Violeta was similar. It was her dad's words of Constant Vigilance that rang in her mind. Well. At most times. Usually when she was with Momo she didn't feel the need to be on the lookout because he was tall and strong "It's going," she said, toning it down a little as she led Betony down the chocolate aisle. "Quidditch is amazing. Home–it's a little loud with all of the babies." One toddler and twin babies to be exact. And that meant her parents' attention was focused on them because they were tiny, and Violeta understood. At least, she tried. "But it's okay. My abuelita is coming to visit for a few weeks," she grinned. "What about you? What have you been up to?" *abuelita = grandmother. |
Quote:
The mention of her grandmother sent a pang into Betony's heart, but she couldn't begrudge Violeta of the time spent with her. After all, she knew more than most that a relationship with a grandmother was the most precious. "I bet that will be nice," she said, thinking that it must be strange to be living so far from her now. |
Open post <3 BROOKSIE B WAS ON A MISSION!! ... with Miss Lumi Wren not far behind, of course. As much as he believed he was old enough (ELEVEN!!! HOGWARTS AGED!!) to be on his own now, his mum and dad had other ideas. Though, if he had to have a babysitter, he was glad it was Lumi. It wasn't long before the young brunette dragged the older blonde toward the sweet shop, chattering non stop the entire way. It wasn't every day that you had to load up on sweets for a train ride and an entire school semester. He may have had Harlow, Lumi, Cecily, and Luna all promise to send him plenty of goodies to hold him over for his time away from them, making sure to discuss with each sister privately in order to maximize his care package quota. He had yet to get his parents in on it too but you best believe he'd be sweet talking them into sending stuff too. He only stopped his chatter to inhale the sweet smell of... well.. sweets, giving Lumi a bright eyed literal-kid-in-a-candy-shop look as he bolted into the store, heading for the gum first. He needed something to chew as he loaded his basket with everything else. |
*snags* Quote:
Sensible wasn’t exactly in her vocabulary and off to Sugarplums she skipped with the intention of buying a whole plethora of sweets that her Mum’s wouldn’t usually allow her to have, sugar being bad for her and all. But her Ma in her ready to pop state had been indulging in a sweet treat or two herself, she’d found the wrappers in the bin that morning. The bell above the door rang as she pushed it open only to see a surprisingly empty store with the exception of a small child who looked almost as excited over the candy as she did. Poor kid didn’t know what was coming. “HI SMALL CHILD” the blonde beamed. |
Quote:
His hands nearly shot up to his ears to cover them. Surely, she couldn't be talking to him? But as he looked around, he noticed that there were exactly zero other people in the shop, save for the shopkeeper. Once he was done looking around, he pointed to himself. "Me?" Wait a second. Did she call him small? SCOFF. "I'm not small!!!!" |
for Laura and Reubdolf the Red-Nosed Puffdeer It was hard, having to convince Papà to let him go out to Diagon Alley on his own. So hard, that Elio still hadn't managed it, even though he was ten and a half already, which was practically of age. Even coming here with Reuben had been a fight, but Candela was away on business or something maybe, and Papà had a work thing, and obviously school was also out for summer, and on these days Elio had to go to whoever could watch him. That, or go into the Ministry with Papà and just sit around waiting. Sometimes it was fun, if Charles was free to pass the time with him, but that wasn't always and really what was extra fun about it was when he was out of school. Missing summer though? Not that fun. So it all amounted to Elio hanging out with Reuben for the day. Not being watched by him, mind you. They were hanging out. Equals. At least, that's what Elio was choosing to view this as. While it suited. Having insisted really very ardently that they come to Sugarplum's on this excursion to Diagon Alley, Elio waited until they were heading in through the sweet shop door before leaping up onto Reuben's back for a surprise piggyback ride. He clung tight, like a tree frog, in case Reuby toppled or dropped him. "What's your favourite thing in here? Not including me." |
Quote:
It was ironic that Aurora was calling him small seeing as she was only 5’1 herself and far shorter than her peers. “You’re small in age. Are you at Hogwarts? I don’t know you.” Not that she knew every student at the school but she did know a lot. Or more like she inflicted her company on many a student whether they wanted her company or not. |
Quote:
The insistence of a trip to Sugarplums was enthusiastically agreed upon by the Hufflepuff, though he was surprised by the other boy suddenly clinging to him. Used to such behaviour from his brothers meant he grabbed the younger boys legs automatically, adjusting his grip before hesitating at the first shelves. He didn't say anything, or point out that he was happy to give piggybacks and didn't need to be surprised by them, because he didn't really think to. And he was too busy considering the question, and the rows of sweets in front of them. "You don't even make the top ten," Reuben couldn't help but tease. "I dunno, there's loads. And I change my mind basically every day. But at the moment....." he paused, letting go of Elio with one hand to grab a pack of Puckering Sour Swirls. "I like these. And Droobles." Maybe another packet. Yes. Though his mind changed, sour sweets maintained the top spot like, eighty percent of the time. "What's yours?" |
Ally & Vesper! <3 This ten year old was having a difficult time not letting his jaw drop as he continued to explore Diagon Alley with his adoptive sister. Viano Valentino had been excited about this trip and he was over the moon his papas had agreed to let Vesper be the one who gave him the grand tour. He clung to her hand, keen on not being separated from her because if he got lost… well, he didn’t want to think about that. Vi just wanted to enjoy all the sights and as many products as he could. Bouncing on his feet, he pointed to the sign of a shop. “Sugarplums,’’ he read, then gazed up at Vesper. “That’s where Papa Renner worked, si?” he asked, his Italian accent heavy. Vi liked that Papa Renner had his own sweet shop now though. It just meant more fun for this kiddo in the form of him getting to hang out at the shop and learn the art of sweet-making. When he wasn’t with Papa Raju during the man’s Quidditch coaching time, that is. “Can we go?” But Viano was already pulling Vesp into the shop without waiting for an answer. |
Quote:
The nearly fourteen year old had been thrilled that she was the one being trusted with her brother today and making sure that he had the very best time. "Si," Ves, nodded her head. She had been trying hard to learn Italian and she had the very best teacher now that she was home. "Of course, it's still one of my favorite shops even if papa doesn't work here anymore." Just because papa had his own shop now, it didn't mean that they couldn't get themselves some sweets from Sugarplums and see which ones they enjoyed most. Giggling softly, Vesper quickened her steps so they could enter the shop together, her hand still keeping a good hold of his for now. |
SPOILER!!: Big sis! <3 Vesper might like not being the baby anymore but still, Vi hadn’t meant to usurp the title. He was very much relieved to find out that she was thrilled that he had been adopted even if she had to give up said title. One thing he had learnt about Ves, it was that she was a good sport. He liked that, he liked her. She just might be his favourite. Bene. Fine. Vesper was his favourite. Just what had sealed that deal? The fact that she had attempted to learn his native language very shortly after they met. Vi was teaching her and in his opinion, his sister was an excellent student. “True. He won’t mind. Papa Renner’s too nice to be petty.” Which was why this young fella had no qualms about dragging Vesper with him. Hadn’t she wanted to come along, then she wouldn’t be holding his hand so securely. The strong scents of sweets assaulted {in a good way} his nostrils the moment he set foot in the shop. Vi immediately recognised a few, having spent so much time learning the basics of sweet making with Papa Renner. “Let’s go through this aisle!’’ Viano enthused, pointing to one at random. He would lead the way if necessary. |
Sweet Little Brother! <3 Quote:
Oh, my! No one tell her this! Surely that would very much go to her head in the best of ways! She couldn't help it. Italian was a beautiful language and being in Italy had made her want to learn to speak it. But meeting Viano, now that was what had really pushed her into learning it. "That's right. Papa would want you to see where he had worked and for you to try some of the shops candies and fudge." Then Vi could decide which he preferred, Sugarplums or Papa's. Not to worry, anywhere her little brother wanted to go today, Ves was sure to be going with him. This day was all about him. "You're the leader today, I'm simply following you," the young teenager giggled as she let herself be led towards the aisle in mention. "If you see anything you want to try just let me know." This was said as she grabbed a basket from the stack at the front of an aisle with her free hand. "Do you have a favorite sweet or anything yet?" They could maybe get their favorites and something new too? |
SPOILER!!: Big sis! <3 Then they would be the youngest siblings together. Weren’t the youngest the most spoilt? This was what Viano had heard at least and if he thought about it now, he was certainly experiencing it. Those papas of his certainly played a huge part in getting him what he wanted, as did Vesper. But Vi knew he was fortunate and he could have easily continue living at the orphanage without his newfound luxuries hadn’t it been a meeting between him and the Thanatos family and papa Raju some summers ago. For this reason, he was never, ever going to be stuck up about it. What definitely was one of his favourite things about being adopted was that he had gotten a sister like the girl beside him. She made him laugh and kept him happy that often he forgot that he had been sibling-less for almost ten years. Vesper was so good already at his language that Vi felt comfortable conversing in Italian most of the time with her. Which is why he switched to it now. “I already prefer Papa’s,’’ he remarked, unknowingly answering her unvoiced thought. One could say that he was even developing a sweet tooth now. “Don’t you mean babysitting me?” the ten year old asked sassily. Yes, he had Papa Raju’s sass. Vi was saved from commenting further on that matter as he eyed all the sweets on display in the aisle with wide eyes. “Can we buy some of everything?” No, he was just joking. Viano shifted uncomfortably; being able to buy whatever his heart desired was still new to him. It still worried him that he might overspend, though his papas had assured him that this would never be the case. “I like chocolate.” Vi suddenly broke into giggles, a habit he had picked up from Vesper. “White chocolate. Papa Renner keeps a whole lot of them for Papa Raju and I’m allowed to have at times.” Papa Raju was addicted to all things white chocolate and it seemed Vi was on his way to it as well. “Can we try that?” A finger pointed to the fudge section, to the peanut butter and jelly flavour. |
The cutest little bro! <3 Truthfully, she was rather spoiled but so were both Vera and Vasco when she really thought about it. Papa had done his best to give them all the things that they had wanted within reason. This was how it was always going to be for Viano now as well. He was her brother, their brother. One of them. Together they would the youngest siblings and stand by one another through anything. Vesper would always look out for him just as the older siblings looked out for her. This wasn't always the case. She really tried her best to learn as much as she could from him. There were still times when she struggled with speaking the language. For some reason it was easier to understand then speak but she was still decent at it. "Well that's good because so do I." Their papa made the best sweets and no one else's could compare but it was always fun to try to see if she could find something that came close. "Babysit? I don't see a baby anywhere?" Ves, giggled pretending to look around. Her laughter continuing at the brothers next comment. Don't even joke in such ways sweet boy! Did he not know that she would let him get whatever he wanted? "You sound just like Vasco.." With a love of chocolate. "And now Raju!" A love of white chocolate too! How cute Vi was already taking on such similar traits as those in their families. Vesper's gaze shifted to the fudge, a smile spreading across her lips. "We sure can. What else would you like?" Have you tried ice mice before?" |
SPOILER!!: The most patient sibling! <3 His siblings may all be spoilt but it was difficult to notice because the three didn’t display any signs of being that way. Viano aimed to follow their lead. The three Thanatos children were certainly role models in their own way. However, he couldn’t really help it but be most motivated by Vesper. It was definitely the extra effort she continually made to help him adjust and not be homesick. Perhaps being most motivated by her was his way of reciprocating the energies and time she put into him. In Viano’s opinion, Vesper was more than capable of conversing with him in Italian, though sometimes she did use the wrong word and it left him momentarily bewildered by what she was really trying to say to him. The little guy grinned. “You and I are always in agreement about everything.” “Do you need glasses?” Vi quipped in zest. “I’m the baby!” He too giggled. See? Vesper’s habit had rubbed off on him. Who knew how many more would. “Do you think it’s a good idea to let Vasco take over the sweetshop when he’s older? I think more of the chocolates would be eaten rather than be sold.” He was joking of course, and he planned to tease his adoptive brother about it at some point. “What can I say?’’ Vi continued sassily. “I steal traits of the persons I like.” What else did he want? Viano shifted from foot to foot as he studied the displays. “Peanut butter and jellyfish and Chocolate dragon. It doesn’t have to be much. One piece is of each is enough for me…” Again, he was still adjusting to being able to get what he wanted with no questions asked. “Ice mice? Are they actual mice?” That possibility was quite disturbing. |
Adorable Baby Bro! <3 Quote:
In times like those, Vesper was left fumbling for words or trying to describe what it was she was talking about. Sometimes in the silliest of ways that made even less sense that what she had originally said to him. "Of course we are! How can I not agree with a cutie pie like you!" She giggled, reaching out to playfully smush his cheeks. "You are?! When did that happen?" Vesper smiled. Obviously she knew exactly when he became the baby of the family. "That's a good question, he does eat an awful lot of chocolate, doesn't he?" She would gladly get in on the teasing of their big brother with him. Cue big wide eyes and a fake gasp! "Well start stealing traits from me! We all know I'm going to be your most favorite," she joked, lightly ruffling his hair. Nod nod. "You got it." Did he know what a good kid he was? She was definitely going to be spoiling him anywhere they went today. Viano's question about the candy being actually mice had Vesper giggling and shaking her head. "Nope, they only LOOK like mice.. but they do make your teeth chatter and squeak for a bit. It's fun." |
SPOILER!!: Adorbs big sis! <3 It was for that exact reason that Vi aimed to be like the adopted siblings: none of the three showed off to anyone that they were spoiled. Papa Renner had done well raising them. The realisation made Viano wish that he had been adopted earlier. But then there was that saying. ‘Better late than never’ and he supposed it was true. He would have many more years with the family, and soon that would outweigh the small number of years he hadn’t been with them. Also, Vesper would be right; he did fit in with the family. Whenever Ves would make errors or have difficulty with words, Vi would make it his duty to correct or help her. After he laughed at her for a bit, of course, because he found her mistakes adorably funny. And suddenly his cheeks were smushed together and his lips puckering a whole lot. “I’m the cutest!” Careful now, Vesper! Don’t let him get a big head with that compliment! “Since birth,’’ Vi continued cheekily. But at the orphanage, he had been quickly outgrowing the other kids as younger ones joined the group. With his adopted family, he got to always be the baby unless someone younger than he was was adopted. “He does! He’s a chocolate monster.” This was said in the fondest of ways. “Well, you already are my favourite, aren’t you?” There was an angelic smile from him to accompany that hair ruffle. Viano broke into a smile as his sister agreed to get him the fudge. He couldn’t wait to taste them! At her giggling, he even grinned, belatedly finding his question funny too. “That’s a relief. Imagine eating mice, of all things.’’ He mimed vomiting. “Interesting. We should get some then… you and I can chatter and squeak together. Maybe we can secretly slip Vasco and Vera some? Have them unwittingly join in on the fun…” |
Jess Rose was brimming with equal excitement, and scaredness. She was starting her fourth year in a new school. She was likeable Yes, she had never trouble with befriending people, but um it had landed her in big trouble so what if that happened again?. This was why her mummy, and daddy decided that a new school was the best course of action. Plus she'd then follow the family Snakebark tradition to go to Hogwarts. Rose entered Sugarplums with a skip in her step, looking up and around to stare at alll the candy lining the shelves with gaping big blue eyes. "Bonjour," she called out to anyone. Oops maybe it was better to say 'hello' and then she added "Where can i find jelly slugs and chocolate frog cards?" |
Quote:
That was when she heard someone asking about chocolate frog cards and jelly frogs. Glancing over she saw the girl appeared to be about her age, yet vastly unfamiliar. Strange considering Emma liked to pride herself as knowing everyone. And liking everyone, being the people pleaser that she was. Although she also knew deep down she probably wasn't everyone's cup of tea. Sometimes she was a bit much and that she'd been "You have to buy the whole chocolate frog to get the card ..." Emma informed, "but there was a large display of them I saw ... over there." She pointed toward the back of the store. "I don't know you? Why don't I know you?But you've got like really pretty eyes." Emma added conversely. |
Quote:
Smiling she fibbled a little with her hand's suddenly nervous which was odd for her because she usually had no problem with introducing herself to anyone and everyone. "I'm new. I'm Rose. I just moved here from France and is starting Hogwarts in September. Who are you?" |
Quote:
She was about to ask where she was from, yet it seemed the other girl filled her in without prodding. "Welcome then, Rose. I'm Emma ... I'm going into my fourth year at Hogwarts. So do you not collect things in France?" Surely there were famous French wizards? |
Quote:
Smiling brightly Rose beamed "It's so very nice to meet you Emma! It so happens that I will be in fourth year too unless," Nah she wasn't going to bore the other girl with her complicated school story. If they became friends, maybe she would...But that was for another time. "You can collect things in France, but basically the girls I went to Beauxbatons with just collected make up and jewellery. It could be fun to collect something that lasts for a long time." Getting herself 3 packets of frog cards from the display Rose asked "Got any tip on what I should bring to my first year at Hogwarts other than the required books, clothes and things on the list?" |

Oh so the girl WAS about her age. But what was the unless part about?? The blond studied her for a moment trying to figure it out but had zero clue. "Unless ... what? Perhaps you could tell me on the train." Because you can't just leave Emma Montmorency with a cliffhanger like that. She was GOING to find out even if she had to pester the girl all year. Which she really hoped it wouldn't come to that. "Jewelry lasts a long while. But golly y'all wear makeup?? I wish I could. Dad says I can't until I'm at least fifteen.... Fortunately that's only a few months away, but maybe you could teach me a few things for how to wear it." She'd only really ever seen magazines and they all looked soooo glamorous. She contemplated the girl's question. "Probably see if your parents could send you with some extra monies cause you're gonna want it for Hogsmeade. It's this all wizarding village next to Hogwarts that is super fun, with all kinds of great shops." |
JT stood in the aisle for speciality candies being glad for having escaped the clothes shopping with his sister which was horrific by promising to meet them in an hour in Flourish and Blotts. His dad avoided clothes shopping too if his presence wasn't required. He knew that his mum expected JT to try on new uniforms, and everything too since he had grown a few more inches, but luckily not today. Luck like this deserved some candy the 15 year old tall boy with brownish hair and blue eyes thought to himself as he eyed up at the shelves mumbling to himself. "Now what should I get? Licorice wands, bertie beans, pumpkin pasties or maybe fizzing whizbees?" |
Quote:
Just ignore.. maybe he won't have seen you, Tiffany tried to persuade herself as she turned her back away, tugging her hat down over hair in greater disguise. "Sugar quills." she muttered in answer to his question. Huh. Who said that? |
Quote:
Still eyeing the candies JT hadn't picked down any of the packets yet when he heard a voice say sugar quills as if in answer to his question. Glancing around he saw nobody else in the aisle directly beside him so he called out hoping he hadn't begun hearing voices that weren't there. "Who's there? Why should I pick sugar quills over the other ones?" |
For Kristen <3 Since Aurora had finished all of her school shopping for the day including buying new robes and potions supplies, she had decided that she deserved to treat herself to something. As well as her sisters and Uncle Adi, of course. And that was why she was buying way more candy than she would have if it was just for herself. It was okay though, because she had plenty of money to spend. As she shopped, she spotted JT and Tiffany. What was her friend doing? Aurora shook her head in amusement and decided that she would have to talk to her later and ask her why she was acting that way. As it was she just moved on. |
Quote:
Flourish and Blotts bag hanging off one arm, the blonde had made her way through the various shelves, occasionally dropping something into the little basket she had in her hand. Things for herself, for the twins, for mum and dad, for the workers at the Grove. She figured it wouldn’t hurt to have something to thank them for humoring her while she’d been haunting the facility. She had just added a couple chocolate frogs to the basket when she’d noticed a vaguely familiar figure ahead of herself. “Aurora?”, she asked, hoping it was a lucky guess and the figure was in fact her younger housemate. |
Quote:
Deciding to add some more Chocolate Frogs, she grabbed a small handful and added them to the bunch. There, that was more like it. She smiled to herself and was about to move on when she heard someone say her name. Turning, she saw an older student, who she knew as a fellow Hufflepuff. "Oh, hi! You're Arienne, right?" Aurora was hoping that she was right about that. She gave the other girl a friendly smile. |
Quote:
Chewing her lower lip thoughtfully, she decided to just skip the first question. "Because sugar quills are far superior for sweets. You can pretend to be studious, while secretly enjoying your candy. Although licorice wands might not be so bad either, except licorice can sometimes be reminiscent of tar." Word salad activated. |
Quote:
JT shook his head, and wondered what the other voice would say if he took down candy that weren't either of those mentioned ones. Picking down a box of pumpkin pasties, along with a packet of beans he saw that two other Hogwarts girls had entered the shop too. Reaching for the sugar quills JT mumbled. "Nothing good tastes like tar, but smell is another story. Especially certain creature dung is very smellly." |
Quote:
He still hadn't recognized her voice? Tiffany wasn't sure that was a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe a bad thing because it maybe implied that he didn't know she existed. And not knowing she existed was perhaps worse than him finding out she crushed on him. She could step out from behind the aisle - it didn't mean she would be declaring her love for him. Love. She didn't even know what that was. Deep breath. Be brave. She stepped out to greet him in the aisle so he could see who was talking about. "Tar never tastes good. Although not that i'd know. I mean maybe i licked a tire once, but that's rubber, not tar. Anyway, did you decide what sweets to get? You shopping for the train or just general summer snacks?" There was also Honeydukes in Hogsmeade for sweet restock during the year, so they didn't need to go overboard, in Tiffany's opinion. |
Quote:
Smiling as their eyes met JT greeted with a raised brow. "Hi Tiffany, you've really licked on a tire? What did the tire taste like?" He almost added what possessed you to lick on a tire, thats probably not healthy. "I decided on beans, pumpkin pastes, sugar quills and packet of chocolate frogs because I want to see if I can get a card I don't have." Picking down a packet of choclate frogs he added. "I'm just here for some summer snacks while I wait for my mum and sister to finish up in Madam Malkins. What brings you to Sugarplums? Just summer snacks too or shopping for the train?" |
