sweetpinkpixie's Dark Arts Color Theory

https://i.postimg.cc/fbY9Vwqf/darkartsheader.png

Hey there, hi there :omgomg:

I'm Katherine and this will be my fourth Seektober ^_^ You can take a peek at my my completed pieces for 2020 [Gryffindor | Hufflepuff | Ravenclaw | Slytherin | Potter], 2021[Aparecium | OC Challenge] and 2022.

I've decided this year that I will be taking on the Aparecium challenge again and with another twist. I really enjoyed my concept for Seektober 2021 where I force myself to work with a limited color palette and want to challenge myself this year with the same kind of vibe. Inspired by Umbridge and her exclusively oozes PINK, I've decided to limit my colors for each Defense Against Arts professor. Besides the obviousness that is Umbridge, I found that each professor had a very distinct color story to them that I really wanted to explore and use as an additional source of inspiration:

:rightar: Gilderoy Lockhart | Alastor Moody | Quirinus Quirrell | Dolores Umbridge :leftar:

I've also taken inspiration from what fellow Snitchseeker member Kate (kayquilz) did a couple of years ago in that she put all of her prompts on one page to create a kind of artistic collage. I will be taking a page from my sketchbook, dividing it up into quarters, and using 7 prompts from each of the prompt lists and figure out the left over two when I get there :pea:

Really looking forward to seeing what everyone brings this year and all the creative takes on the prompts:loveskip:

prompts 15/30
  1. "Constant Vigilance!"
  2. "TROLL! IN THE DUNGEON! Thought you ought to know."

  6. cornish pixies
  7. Voldemort

I knew going in to this year's attempt that my first doodles for each Defense Against the Dark Arts professor was going to be their likeness and what embodies these characters better than their signature catchphrases (or at least those phrases that I personally most associate with the character). I associate 'constant vigilance' the most with Cassirin's Headmaster Tate, but Mad Eye Moody can get the glory for Seektober

It felt really nice busting out my Ohuhu markers again after so long. One thing that excites me about Moody is that his color story pushes me to use all the brown markers that I have (I have the most brown shades and yet I use them the least!). Of course I couldn't not use blue for his 'mad eye' and I kind of wish I had gone a little thinner with the line art around his scars. I ended up using my 0.3 brown Copic multiliner and dropping down to my 0.05 may have improved the overall look but I am still very pleased with it - especially the nose as I tried to go for a different style nose other than the little dainty greedy gator-like one or the half circle rounded style like I usually stick to. His hair was also quite fun to sketch and shade :pea: I merged the book depiction with the film version of the character with my sketch but certainly leaned more into the film aesthetic than not - I just really never liked the pirate patch look they went for in the film. I wish I had the confidence to draw something more like what is seen in the illustrated version of Goblet of Fire. Some day! Also a tiny shoutout to NOT drawing a nub for a hand but just a partial nub

Ooooh Professor Quirinus Quirrell, the plot twist I should have seen coming and yet was completely floored as a youngling. While this character has plenty of moments, none stand out as much to me as him bursting into the Great Hall hollering about the troll  Which is why Professor Quirrell's quadrant shall be represented by the image of him doing just that. This was was a lot of fun to doodle and he almost ended up with no nose because I made his mouth so big...but after a few attempts I found a style that suited the face and additional shading with my Ohuhu markers added to the effect. Unlike with Moody, I used a black Copic multiliner which gives a very different vibe than the brown multiliner - it's harsher, bolder, and more prominent, which also seems fitting for a man who decided to do whatever he could to get the world to notice him, stop laughing at him, and achieve importance...to his own misfortune as we all know.

Another huzzah for not stubs for hands!

You are far too generous, thank you  and the answer is drawing hands.

Ooh I am so excited about your concept for this year's event and to see how it develops as you go! The color pallettes you chose are just beautiful and very on point for the characters. And what a magnificent start already!

The blending in Mad Eyes clothes with the different shades of brown give such beautiful dimension to him. And I LOVE how Quirrel's style looks a bit like a puppet! Very apt considering his role in the story.

I can't wait to see more!

Allow me to kick this off with ... HUZZAH FOR NO STUBBY HANDS!

For this piece, I took inspiration from the pose found in the illustrated version of Chamber of Secrets and combined that with the duelling outfit seen in the film. The whole Duelling Club scene just completely encapsulates what this man is all about from his showboating to gaslighting of his skillset which all comes together with the words offered to Harry during detention. For the one and only Gilderoy Lockhart I went with a grey Copic multiliner which really goes well with the pastel color story I will be using. The grey color, and pastels, also remind me of memories and that foggy or dreamlike vibe that they are often associated with which goes hand in hand with the character's skill with Memory Charms. I kind of wish I had made up my own design for his cape instead of trying to mimic the pattern seen in the film because I am not sure my white gel pen and I translated the vision properly but it is an overall nice effect. I'm particularly pleased with his hair

Your blending abilities never cease to amaze me :delicious: :sprinklelove: it has me researching ohuhu markers and debating on investing in some

I love how there's a certain element of cartoon but also you can definitely tell it's the characters. It gives me potter puppet pal vibes

FearlessLeader19 10-03-2023 11:11 AM

These creations remind me of Chibi art, which I adore, because they are SO cute!!!

Troll in the Dungeons is my fave because Quirrell's expression is exactly what I've always pictured in my head

Chelliephone 10-03-2023 12:19 PM

If that isn't the cutest little Lockhart ever!! I love how the colors you used for him interact together - that gray and the purple next to it are particularly beautiful together! The cape and the detail you used there are definitely my favorite part! Its stunning!

Felixir 10-03-2023 03:00 PM

yeeeeeees. I am, as always, very excited to see your prompts this year :pea:

Moody is SO good, the expression!!! genuinely I have no idea how you manage to convey so much of a character without going wild with the line art. big fan of the nose and the glint in the non-magical eye. enthralled by the sorcery you do with those markers as always

and speaking of expressive lmfdjghs. the shading on the turban is :delicious: AND THEN GILDEROY (first of all, the progression of the hands in these three pieces, love that) so good. the smile, the eyes, the hair. also - and this goes for the other two pieces - the colour palette is wonderful. it's such a cool idea to identify those colour stories and run with them for your prompts

looking forward to seeing more of your art and marker mastery

And here she is, the woman who inspired the entire concept herself, Dolores Umbridge :whaa: At first I didn't give her any hands at all and she was just holding one of her little pink purses 'off screen' but that felt really off since the rest of the group had their hands in some capacity and doing something reflective of their character. So I made some adjustments and at first she was only holding her tea cup and a saucer...but then I hated how the saucer and its accompanying hand looked so then she just had one hand BUT THEN I felt ambitious and with the power of DrawingwiffWaffles on my side...I added her holding her quill :whaa: I think the eyebrows are what really make the sinister vibe of her look. I left my pink Copic multiliner for Umbridge, naturally, and while it kind of hides among all the pink of her clothes it has a really eerie effect overall  Placing her little eye shinnies was a tad stressful because I did not want to make her look cheery and peppy like I had with Lockhart and was literally holding my breath as I went in with my thinnest tip white gel pen to draw the lines. Quite pleased with out she came out...especially the non-stubby hands :whaa:

It is really fun to look at them all together (click on the full size option under Umbridge to see that) and see how the poses and how they hold their hands and WHAT is or isn't in their hands really encapsulates how I see and have immortalized the characters. Quirrell with literally nothing in his hands because he is nothing but a servant and puppet to Voldemort, Umbridge with tea and a quill because her manipulation and control tactics did not come from use of her wand but corrupt legislation and false hospitality, Moody clutching his wand close to his chest and always on high alert, and...Lockhart being flamboyant and showy with his wand to "look" the part.

I have watched many a person draw these kinds of eyes and I think the one I took the most inspiration from is a really sweet gal on youtube called Minori. She has multiple channels but I LOVE how she does eyes. So that's my suggestion :xd: Her and DrawingwiffWaffles. They both have super pleasant voices too and are comforting.

HIGHLY recommend them and you can get one of their smaller sized started packs. They are way cheaper than Copic (which is the go-to for a lot of artists) but Jazza (a Youtuber) ranked all alcohol markers and these were top tier and comparable to Copic.

I don't do...realistic well at ALL and since I grew up admiring manga and anime that style is what always stuck with me  Potter Puppet Pals though, ugh, nostalgia.

That's my style  mostly grew up emulating the work of CLAMP who added chibi versions of their characters often in their storytelling and I always loved it.

Thank you, Chellie! The cape, upon sleeping and reflecting on it, does not bother me as much as it did in the immediate aftermath. It's the expectation versus reality but not considering the perspective of how it fits with your actual piece.

I should show a progression of these because Moody especially was a mess and a half in the sketch stage and it is by the grace of my eraser that it does not look so now

The turban was probably the most fun with shading I had because the two purples just blended together SO nicely and it was just :delicious: Don't tell the others...but Lockhart MIGHT be my favorite...or maybe it's Moody...:huhwhat:

Here comes the fun part: fitting in the rest of the prompts and meshing them with the existing bits :omgomg: Initially I had intended on sticking very strictly with the pinks and reds for Umbridge, but when I set down a very light layer of my red-gray color and felt like it was just going to be too much pink and everything would blend together entirely too much. While I am sure no one would be to terribly surprised for this woman to have a shocking pink patronus, I went with the more traditional colors but did add another layer of the red-gray to pull the color story together. I had considered doodling a couple of her signature cat plates but that did not feel right and I instead went with her feline patronus perched upon her shoulders for this prompt. There was no line art at first and I almost left it that way but the shape and especially face of the cat was not all that well defined so I took my thinnest 0.03 pink Copic multiliner and outlined things a bit before layering another few layers of the light blues to mute the lineart just a tad to help maintain the glow effect.

Colorless blenders are miracle workers, truly.

Thank you. After having not picked up my pencils and markers for so long, it really feels good to just dive right back into things and with such rich characters to play around with.

You are most welcome! I have a whole bunch of content creators I keep up with if you ever want some more :xd: but I find them the most relaxing and encouraging particularly because they will share their mistakes during the process and especially DrawingwiffWaffles will explain her choices and it is SO helpful.

I’d accept cats over absolutely everything! I’m pretty sure I was a cat in a past life..

:booty:

ANYWAY! The way that you’ve made kitty look so ethereal and translucent is *chefs kiss*. He looks like a Persian with that gorgeous grumpy face and that magnificent floofy tail. As you know, my art knowledge is severely limited so my comments are going to be incredibly uninsightful but I am truly in awe of the ease in which you make these. :jawdrop:

P.S. Who WOULDN’T want a pink Patronus?!

If it isn't dissolving all of the bones out of Harry's arm, it is the complete mayhem that ensued because of cornish pixies (why IS it always you, Neville?!). This little dude is TINY and I had to sharpen my pencil a few times to keep my sketch lines precise. Unlike with Lockhart, I actually put the color down first (minus the wings) and then did the multiliner - it just felt like less pressure that way and I would have been entirely too bothered by any ink that bled out of the lines due to the saturation that came from blending three blues together to shade and color the little pixie. It is a little hard to see in the picture, but the wings also have some white gel pen detailing on them that was stressful putting down because you really only get one shot to get that right  I actually had a lot of fun doodling this little fellow and believe I did cackle once I had the pose the way I liked it, amusing myself at the man showboating while this tiny little blue creature is about to snatch his wand right out of his hand :xd:

I did take some inspiration from Persians and also...the one and only Grumpy Cat (rest in peace, little fur baby). I think in the film her patronus is more of a short hair but I happened upon a lot of fan art where the look is more Persian and that just felt more right - poor Persians getting the bad name of being snooty kitties when they are super affectionate babies!

hands are the bane of my drawing existence and I really do not know what magic found me with these (maybe it was just a really good cuppa) but the relief  I do use a ton of reference images to help me along (I am really not great at taking an image from my head and committing it to paper) so thank you Pinterest

When I am not thinking about it, symmetry isn't something that actively stresses me out. When the thought strikes me that something needs to be symmetrical ... my brain and hand decide that they just do not want to cooperate and then I end up redrawing something more times than I care to count. That 'twas the case with Voldemort's red eyes here and I got to the point where I just decided to put down the red pens and hope for the best  The miracle worker for these eyes is one of my pastel markers that created the eye shape by acting almost like a colorless blender over the deeper red hues. To get a little technical, I threw down a layer of Vermillion first and then a shade called 'Old Red' (which is a really dark red with some cool dark purple undertones) along some of the edges and also to create the curves that define the iris. I used another red hue called Geranium to try and blend things will also provide some depth with shading but...it just was not coming together until I pulled my 'Light Prawn' marker from my pastel bundle and then BOOM, the iris really became defined and some black multilined for the snake eye pupils with white slits from a gel pen for the menacing eye shinnies and viola! There is a nose there as well that I really blended out with the colorless blender too.

Umbridge's sinister look is everything; I am a big fan of the eyebrow. and again just love what you're doing with all these hands heheh. I had a look at the full size version too and I think it all comes together so wonderfully (and, ugh, obsessed with the symbolism/meanings in what they're holding etc)

ugh and the cat patronus, such a good effect you've got there, making it glow, it's so perfect for a patronus (and its wittle face *-*) and and and the pixie!! which is definitely neither sweet nor pink!! idk how you managed to get such shading in while working so small but excellent job on the tiny blue problem child (also it's so perfect the way Gilderoy just has no idea what's coming (or leaving))

the volde-eyes are shaded so well (and those pens? v fun to experiment with for shading) and have so much depth and menace...ry? yes. that. shoutout to light prawn with the clutch plays. also I'm already in high anticipation for the final piece even though we're still a ways off from that.

FearlessLeader19 10-06-2023 10:45 PM

OOOHLALA!!!! What pretties you have here, Kath!

I adore the cat! I spent a good time admiring it. My favourite thing is the colour you used there  The Cornish Pixie is just adorable; it makes me want to have one for keeps  The Voldemort eyes legit made me feel a little fear, that's how good those are! :x3:

kayquilz 10-07-2023 12:09 AM

Ooohhh okay at first I kept clicking back and forth between the two Umbridge’s, but then I read (ha) and realized the CATTTTTT. It DOES look glow-y, and I am very impressed with all the things here. The VOLDEMORT BEHIND QUIRREL LOOKS SO GOOD UGH. It is so CREEEEEEPY.

Lottiepot 10-07-2023 01:17 AM

Firstly, the Cornish Pixie is PERFECT. His cheeky little expression, the lace like quality of his wings and the way you have perfected drawing that anatomy. I used to live in Cornwall and Pixies were obviously a thing and features in a lot of local artists artwork but honestly I think yours is even better.

Then those Voldemort eyes! I feel like my soul is being stared at! *hides* They have a dragon like quality to them with their shape and I LOVE it. Even down to the way you’ve captured that glint is.. *mwah*

Also I wholeheartedly agree on Persian cats. They look so miserable but my goodness they are affectionate. Oh and the infamous cat butt smilie will become synonymous with me. It’ll become my version of your :pea:

#08 Goblet of Fire

So...there is a bit of a story that goes with this one in which I underwent the most epic of brainfarts for a solid ten minutes and it was my 10-year-old son, Ryoma, who set me straight  I was Googling reference photos and while I was acutely aware I was looking for images of the GOBLET OF FIRE ... I was constantly thrown off by images of the TRIWIZARD CUP and lamenting at how detailed that was and how small a chibi-fied a space I was working with and it felt so daunting and yada yada yada. Ryoma kept pointing at the chapter header art for the Goblet and told me to just draw that (he also seemed confused as to why I was fixating and thought maybe I was looking to blend the two) and after a few times of his insistences...I realized what I was doing and ha...ha...hahahaa...ha :head:

We got there eventually? The Goblet of Fire was A LOT of fun because I love using the colorless blender to help with the glow effect of the Ohuhu markers. It was also fun playing with the browns for the shading on the Goblet itself and just kind of throwing caution to the wind only to then go in with my brown multiliner to define shapes a bit more. Kind of like those reverse coloring books I only just discovered were things and now I kind of want one but I have so many unfinished coloring books I should probably wait and complete some of those first. Very please how this came out :pea:

Also, the reason it seems to end kind of abruptly there on the left is because any further would encroach into Lockhart's quadrant

Text Cut: appreciate you all ♡

Okay...the NEXT one I will try to share a progression because I forgot with this one but it would have been funny considering the brain fart and that I spent some time drawing the WRONG thing

Thank you so much though:loveskip: the brush tips on these markers comes in clutch for the tiny spaces...as long as you maintain a steady hand which...questionable at times

Also found it funny that three out of four of the professors got blue things added while one got red

#09 foe glass

This is pretty straightforward and no chaotic anecdotes to share about it. It's another piece where I did the alcohol markers first and then the line art after I had (I really...like drawing this way, I have decided, and the pressure feels way less). I used a duo of dark browns and then this gorgeous pastel green color (Horizon Green) for some accent highlights that give this rusty copper vibe. Also got some ~enemies~ lurking in the foe glass itself (three, to be precise).

Um...my progress report with this doodle probably could have used with some more pictures taken but: stage one where the basic and haphazard form outline is done in pencil and then stage two in which the shape is more refined and then erased with my stretchy eraser ... and then final result :madeye:.

Cassirin 10-08-2023 12:55 AM

I love the Moody x2 updates. It's so interesting to see how the pieces fit in around each other, and to know that you have all this bubbling away in your head...!

The detail work on the cup is really nice. Let's get reverse coloring books and do the same pages and share our work.

Emzily 10-08-2023 06:41 AM

Oh wow Kath, the full page with the four of them just stuns me. So cannot wait to see the final result. :omgomg: loving the flames from the cup, and the reflection on the glass. Very creative and detailed work. *claps*

kayquilz 10-08-2023 08:06 PM

spot the difference indeed. Lord. I am so bad at it. Luckily, the foe glass one was apparent because a giant foe glass appeared where there was NOT one before xD also, I love the detail that the foe glass is showing the Dark Lord so near, when he's actually right next to him behind Quirrel in your picture. IDK. it's cool. I am loving this so much!

FearlessLeader19 10-08-2023 08:20 PM

I mean, the details on the Goblet {the runes} are top notch!!! I love how Moody's magical eye came out. Very eye-catching! {pardon my pun xD} The Foe Glass is super neat and fittingly placed beside Moody. Not me getting creeped out by Voldy's eyes during this lovely #SpookySeason

These are so freaking genius, how you just keep adding on to them!!! I didn't get it at first but NOW I LOVE THIS CONCEPT. I can't wait to see where it goes. I also appreciate how much effort you've put into these.... ah, you'll see what I mean when I post my version of the same prompt. :xd:

#10 educational decree

https://i.postimg.cc/8cyVH4gw/umbridge3thmb.jpg
[ click for full size ]

Whoohoooo! Into the double digits!

This was another piece in which I put the ink down first and then the lineart. Pretty sure I was holding my breath while doing the lettering and especially the particularly unforgiving red gel pen. Thankfully the floofy tail of the patronus covers a good part things so I felt less stressed about things actually fitting (if any of you know the John Mulaney 'Birthday Sign' sketch...you know the vibe:xd:). I used more of my rosy hued browns for the wood to bring in Umbridge's color story a bit more and that same reddish gray was used to shade the paper portion of the educational decree as well. The whole thing is probably...about the size of my thumb and my wrist was really feeling the tension by the end of things

You can kind of tell from my sketch phase that I had drawn it a little more to the right before and it was more square looking than rectangular. The balance was off and it just was not working. Was feeling antsy until I got the initial color down meticulously with the wedge end of the marker instead of brush tip. The scariest part was the fear of smudging the fineliner and gel pen while putting the final touches on the shading.

thank you so much. The eyes in the mirror were a last second impulsive choice and the red color is...not one you can just blend out if you mess up so I was a bit nervous in putting it down but very happy with the result :pea:

I am glad the concept is properly coming together :pea: I have some strong visuals on how I see some of the quadrants coming together but others are a bit of a mystery until I try to fit the prompt in. I think Quirrell's is the one I have the strongest 'end game' visual for.

And shuuuuuuuuuuush you. I am sure what you have produced is nice and lovely! [s]we all really are our own worst creative critics[s]:xd:

EEEEEEK. :omgomg: those details! Thank you for sharing the process as well! The colour shading, the text, the pointed finger! Oh my gooooodness, so much detail created on such a small scale it’s very impressive.

Lottiepot 10-09-2023 08:43 AM

How is EVERYTHING you draw just absolute perfection? :loveattack: So much detail in such a tiny little space. The way those markers just blend together to make that wood grain effect. I’m so excited to see the whole thing eventually!

FearlessLeader19 10-11-2023 09:48 PM

Just love how you keep adding pretties to the existing pretties :loved: Such a wonderful collage!

The Educational Decree prompt’s piece is doubly cute IMO since it reminds me of a cuckoo clock xD It’s definitely due to the wonderful shape the piece has!

Also, yay for double digits!!! :woot:

Felixir 10-15-2023 09:11 PM

big fan of the backstory behind the goblet of fire, but at least you realised before you added it to the main piece (for your sake that is, because I'd have loved to see your take on the triwizard cup as well). love the curve and texture on the goblet itself and the fire is v pretty. the colourless blender scares me but you wield it so well

love the foe glass too. it's a really neat effect you have in the glass itself (and I particularly enjoy the fact that voldemort's eyes are clearly in there; reminds me of the line about if he can see the whites of their eyes, etc etc, when the man himself is indeed in the next quadrant over). and big fan of the progression

the detailing on the educational decree is astounding, from the texture/shine/light on the wood to the writing and pointy finger and well-executed touches with the red pen. working small can be brain-breaking but this has come out so good I can't believe it's that small

and thank you for including your WIP stages!! so fun to see these come together

Welp

Flu season is here and quite literally I was horizontal with a fever fluctuating between 38.2 C and 40.2 C Monday night through Friday morning -____- very behind schedule - but hey, no fever at least :huhwhat:

So, back to the quadrants we go and back to Quirrell we go. This addition brought the philosopher's stone into the mix and a questionable attempt at shading and gel pen smudging. All the same colors used with Voldemort's eyes were used again here once we had wonky potato phase sketched out and it came out okay. No cute little anecdotes this time - my brain is still feeling like overcooked oatmeal mush :dizzy:

Tiny stack of fan mail as depicted in the Chamber of Secrets film. Tiny Lockhart riding a broom zipping across the countryside with his curly locks blowing in the breeze was actually the easier part of this addition and the symmetry and perspective of the stack of papers the hardest. So many redrawn lines until I just traced my tiny stack of post it notes to get the shape right  disappointed with how the signature turned out. I had put down some thin white gel pen first but it was so hard to see so I went over it with a silvery blue and...there are just too many layers of gel pen :head:

No full sized image to go with this one because I only realized I hadn't taken a full spread shot until after adding some others to other sections :head: SO...oops

Author was pretty self explanatory considering the man himself, so I drew a stack of some of his published works and made a valiant attempt at putting the titles on them in tiny tiny tiiiiiiiiiiiiny handwriting. The books on their own were not really doing it for me, so I added some tiny candles and used the colorless blender on two of my yellow markers to create a glow effect on the flames ^_^

Double whammy because the pieces are small and off centered and I kind of just want to breeze on by the mild disaster that was the dementor doodle and not give it a post of it's own  I really struggled with the dementor and redrew it entirely too many times before I said GOOD ENOUGH and then the shading also faced the same GOOD ENOUGH fate before I moved on. It's an element to Umbridge's quadrant and the whole piece overall that will fit in better once everything is there. Little bit of white gel pen was used in attempt to make it look as though it were performing a tiny dementor's kiss. Don't look at it too long...it looks worse the longer you look at it

I like my little flying key though. It's cute and the grays and colorless blender on the wings really gives it the subtle depth of translucent wings I was going for. Good job, little flying key.

For real...this is an installment you are better off looking at the piece as a whole rather than these two minor additions to two of the four quadrants :exclam:

Very simple and not worth their own individual posts so here they together. First is Moody's walking stick which was once again put down first with a very basic pencil shape and then filled in and blended with the alcohol markers and then the multiliner on top. Next was the creeptastic spider thing that suffered all the Unforgiveables. I did not enjoy drawing this  BUT I did enjoy that the colorless blender still worked on the flying key's wing so that I could soften the harsh brown color on the leg and make it look like it was on the other side of it...

Thank you, Alicia. I had such a different vision for how the dementor was meant to look and it just did not translate the way I had hoped. Alas but it does look nice when in context with the rest of the piece.

Lottiepot 10-21-2023 10:45 PM

It's been a minute since I've popped in to see what you've been updating, so I have lots of pretties to catch up on. I think this concept is really cool, and you're doing a good job fitting all the pieces together. It's one of those things you'll be able to be really proud of and can keep even after the month ends.

Emzily 10-23-2023 07:26 AM

EEEEEEK. Kath, the full piece is looking gorgeous. :omgomg: I can’t wait to see it finished, I reckon it will be frame-able! I gotta say that I am obsessed with these little pieces you are making, especially the fanmail *applauds* and I love the way you have drawn the dementor, the way it is facing and it’s spoooky HANDS. Your flying key is VERY cute. :loved:

Did I say already that I’m obsessed with the fanmail drawing? :hmm:

:whaa:

Felixir 10-28-2023 11:41 PM

I feel like one of the greatest compliments I can give to people's art is that I want to lick it (usually bc I like the colours) and this stands for the philosopher's stone. at the risk of accidentally (f)elixir-of-life-ing myself, I want to lick that. love the shine and the contrast of all the facets *lick*

and my eyes are hurting just imagining trying to work on that tiny stack of fan mail. all the details. incredible. i'm lowkey obsessed with the depth you've got in the stack of letters there too. so good. I also love how much it's all stacking up in gilderoy's quadrant (in all of them tbh but I wanted to make a book stack pun)

i refuse to believe the dementor can be classed as any form of disasted. I adore it. and the little key looks so deceptively simple but the shading in the key itself and the translucent wings looks so good. and that's such a neat touch having the spider's leg behind the wing (even though you drew it afterwards; a point at which I would have despaired personally, on top of drawing creepy spiders). and (I say this a lot but it's always the case) I really like how you've done the depth and shading in the walking stick (and how the whole quadrant looks with the #aesthetic going on there ooo)

Suziella 10-31-2023 01:11 AM

I love the new additions since the last time I was in here!! They are all fantastic and I love how you did the spider leg in the wing of the winged key. Such a cool detail to incorporate!

BanaBatGirl 11-05-2023 08:12 PM
