Muppets Most Wanted review by Milo Muppets Most Wanted is the next adventure in the Muppets franchise, which this time takes them on a tour of Europe, but all is not as it seems as an evil frog lookalike switches places with Kermit, stealing his identity, and leads the Muppets on an unsuspecting crusade of crime.
A sequel to 2011’s
The Muppets,
Most Wanted however heads in a different direction to that film and instead introduces a new human lead character in Ricky Gervais’ ‘Dom Badguy.’ Acting as an agent, Gervais persuades the Muppets to go on a world tour, but he has ulterior motives, and instead, we are introduced to Kermit’s evil doppelganger who sets about fooling the group into thinking he is Kermit, whilst Kermit himself is imprisoned in Russia under the watchful eye of Tina Fey’s prison chief character Nadya.
As the Muppets tour progresses, they begin to realise that something is not quite right with ‘Kermit’ and tensions begin to rise, the gang aren’t happy, but the evil frog continues his exploits, which eventually leads them to London, England. It’s here that films finale takes place amidst the iconic backdrop of the Tower of London.
Muppets Most Wanted continues the franchise’s tradition of featuring a vast array of cameo appearances from a lot of familiar faces, perhaps setting the record for most cameos in a film. It is though, a fun family movie, with some great catchy songs and ensemble performances. Muppets fans will not be disappointed, and you are left with a feel good ending, with bangs, cheers, fireworks, and of course a big song and dance.
What else can you say? It’s the Muppets again!
