| sweetpinkpixie | 06-02-2021 09:28 AM | Reception and Waiting Area RECEPTION & WAITING AREA The reception and waiting area of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement is a space defined by minimalist and brutalist design, embodying the seriousness of the wizarding world's legal system. The clean lines of the room reflect a sense of authority and purpose, emphasising the gravity of the work conducted here. Visitors are greeted by the sound of classical music and a no-nonsense receptionist stationed behind a sleek, stone desk, ready to assist with legal appointments and case inquiries.
Everything about this reception area is a study of control and restraint. The decor is intentionally sparse, with concrete walls adorned only by a few essential elements: the department's insignia, proclamations in stark black lettering, and moving portraits of key law enforcement figures. A large, enchanted display offers real-time updates of ongoing cases, current hearings, and security alerts, replacing the need for cluttered traditional noticeboards. The cool grey tones and steel accents throughout the room contribute to an atmosphere of focus and efficiency.
Seating is simple but functional and surprisingly comfortable, with metal chairs and benches placed at calculated intervals to provide space and order. There are no frills or distractions here—just a selection of essential legal periodicals, pamphlets on magical rights, and the latest publication of the Daily Prophet, neatly stacked on a single table. A small refreshments corner offers only the basics: water, black coffee, and biscuits. Quote: OOC: Everyone, regardless of their department or employment, is welcome to be posted here! The department receptionist is currently an NPC (non-playable character) by the name of Muriel. She has had this position for decades and is known for being rather quiet (because no one plays her) but very efficient at her job.
If your character is here to report a crime, visit with a DMLE employee, or utilise the department's conference, exercise, or training rooms, please post here first before continuing to the appropriate area as this level has numerous security measures in place. Simply take a seat, and a DMLE employee will be with you shortly.
