A Haunted Night in the Shrieking Shack A Haunted Night In The Shrieking Shack. It's a few days before Halloween night and the students of Hogwarts are eager for some good old fashioned, scary fun. Ned Hall is a Slytherin with too much ego and too much spare time on his hands, never one to back down from a challenge or a dare, Ned finds himself in a bit of a pickle when he is dared by one of his friends to spend a night in the most haunted building in all of England: The Shrieking Shack. So what does the crafty, cunning, but slightly cowardly Slytherin do? Trick and con as many people into going with him as possible, of course! Meanwhile the Hogwarts ghosts, quite aware that the shack is NOT in fact haunted, have taken it upon themselves to preserve it’s image and magical history by scaring the young students silly! So that's the plot folks. We'll be starting just before the dare, and play through until after the dare has been completed. I'd like an even amount of boys and girls, and there is no specific age that anyone has to be or house, we will also need some ghosts, at least two, they can be canon or made up, your choice. Please no superpowers or special abilities, and most importantly have fun! Ned Hall - Nicole Black. Victor Vincenzi - Gryffindoll. Vince Vincenzi - Gryffindoll. Robert MacGhilleseatheanaich III - Gryffindoll. William MacGhilleseatheanaich III - James Potter. Sebastian Finley - Alonzee. Okay, here's what I have so far. I'll edit the rest in once it's written. (the flaw with adapting a character who wasn't originally in the HP universe. It takes a bit of work to get the history set.) SPOILER!!: Fionnula Aubrey |
Okay, added Fionnula (Thanks SilverTifer) Okay guys, I'll try to start this one later tonight, hopefully. I will PM everyone as soon as I have made the first post. :D |
The library of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was one of the great libraries of all history. Within it's bookshelves were every book on magic that was worth reading, everything: from books on potions, to magical fungi, to even the darkest of magical arts. It was also a place of contemplation, of quiet study and usually it was Airi Mondai's favorite place in the whole school. Usually, except for today, because at this moment Airi was experiencing a feeling she was not familiar with, one that was making her incredibly listless. She was bored, bored with her studies, bored with her books, just plan bored. Surrounded at her usual work table with more books and parchment then was necessary Airi could not get herself to begin her essay or to open a single textbook. The Ravenclaw had a Transfiguration paper due, not to mention an essay on electricity for Muggle studies but she just did not have the energy. The brunette was roused from her stupor by the sound of very loud, and very quick paced footsteps. Oh she knew that walk anywhere. Sure enough, upon turning her head, she was greeted with the site of a beaming Ned Hall. That in itself was an omen of bad things to come. "Airi darling," Ned said, taking the seat next to her without waiting for an invitation. "I was looking for you," Ned said, pushing aside her books without a thought and putting his own in a neat stack on the table. Airi only rolled her eyes, classic Ned popping out of nowhere and making her life more complicated, because even though Airi had no idea what the boy needed or wanted from her, she knew it would probably be something time consuming and requiring a lot of patience. "Oh really now?" Airi said with a small amused smile. "Yeah, I need help with this Ancient runes question.... Also, I missed that gorgeous face," Ned smirked, unable to stop himself from flirting with the lovely, and very kind Airlia Mondai, sure the two were only friends, but that didn't mean he couldn't be play around a bit. "You big dummy, you know you don't have to flatter me to get my help," Airi replied with that soft smile of hers. Though she wasn't in the mood for coursework, or any kind of work, Airi couldn't find it in herself to turn Ned (or anyone else for that matter), away. "I would never use do such a thing!!" Ned exclaimed, pretending to be offended, but Airi only shook her head and got to work on the boys homework. "Now let's see if we can make sense of this... " Airi murmured. |
“Oh my God, would you drop it already?!” “You’re my sister for Merlin’s sake, why didn’t you say anything?!” Vianna stopped so abruptly, that Vince almost walked straight into her. Her crystal blue eyes seemed to reflect the fire inside her, and her usually cheery expression was contorted with irritation and annoyance. “Because you deserve it!” she snapped angrily at him. “I’m your sister not your bloody lawyer.” For the past fifteen minutes, Vince had been trailing after his sister throughout the entire castle, demanding an explanation for her not interfering earlier that day when the professor gave him afternoon detention for copying another student’s notes. The two siblings had been sitting next to each other in Potions that morning, and Vince, as usual, had tried to use his good looks and dull-pretty-boy charm to copy the notes of the girl sitting to his left. But the Hufflepuff girl was having none of it and called for the professor’s attention when she caught him sneaking a peek at her paper. Vince was offended Vianna hadn’t intervened and defended him as - in his opinion - any good little sister should do. In a desperate attempt to lose him, Vianna hurried into the library - a place she knew he would never dream of entering - but, much to her disappointment, the endless lines of bookshelves were not enough to scare the boy away, and he continued chasing after her like a persistent mosquito. Vianna’s blue eyes lit up at the sight of a very familiar, friendly face - Airi. And opposite the brunette was the back of someone’s very familiar blonde head. Ned Hall. “Thank Merlin you’re here!” the girl let out in a breathless sigh of relief as she unceremoniously dumped her books on the table the other two had been sharing. Without awaiting an invitation, she proceeded to sit down. “Please get him off my back.” The girl didn’t need to specify who she was talking about as, just half a second later, Vince stood right behind her. “Vi, please!" "I'm not doing it." "But Professor Stonem loves you!" "I'm not getting involved!" She shot him a deathly glare. "If you don't go away I swear to Merlin I'll send my Care of Magical Creatures book after you," she added, patting the book she precisely happened to be carrying at that moment. Disturbed by the commotion, the book growled softly beneath her touch. |
"Oh, hello Vianna, hello Vince, you two better lower your voices, Madamn Geraldine is just itching to kick someone out today," Airlia said, sneaking a peek at the surly librarian, thankfully she was too busy telling of a fifth year to pay attention to their little group. Airi decided right then and there to give up on homework, because when Ned Hall and the Vincenzi boys (in this case boy) got together only mischief could follow, and Airi wasn't even going to try to fight it. "Oi, this is a private study group Vi, who said you could join in?" Ned playfully asked, smiling at the female Vincenzi, before turning his attention to Vince "Alright there Vince?" Ned said, greeting the Gryffindor with a fist bump. The Vincenzi's were the only Gryffindors he could honestly say he liked, which was really saying something, because Ned couldn't even tolerate most of them. Except the girls, he did more then tolerate the girls. Airi needn't glance at Ned to see the smirk on his face, she could practically feel it. Yeah, she wasn't gong to get any work done. "What's going on then with you two?" Airi asked Vianna, gesturing between the two sibling, with a curious expression on her kind features. "Obviously Vince here has gotten himself into another pickle, that so Vincey?" Ned asked, leaning back casually in his chair, acting as usual as if he owned the place. |
“Sorry,” Vianna muttered in a whisper, her annoyed features magically transforming into a sweet, apologetic smile as the older girl warned her about the librarian. But her sweetness quickly disappeared as she stuck her tongue out childishly at Ned, who playfully questioned her presence at the table. Vince pulled the empty chair next to his sister (much to her disappointment) and turned it around, so he was sitting using the chair’s back as support for his elbows. “Vi’s being lame. She won’t help me get out of detention tomorrow,” the Italian boy explained simply as Ned and Airi asked what was wrong. Vianna scoffed and rolled her eyes. “‘Lame’?” she repeated, raising an eyebrow at her brother. “Really?” Vince ignored her and, all past troubles forgotten (he had a short attention span), turned back to the other two. “So what are you two nerds doing here? Secret library date, eh? How dull." |
"It's alright, I just don't want you guys to get into trouble," Airi said with a kind smile, laughing softly at Vianna's response to Ned. They had the oddest of friendships those two, they were always teasing and picking at each other like brother and sister, though Airi sometimes thought she saw something other then brotherly affection in Ned's eyes when he looked at Vianna. "Or in Vince's case, more trouble," She added with an bemused shake of her head. "I don't blame her, I would help you ether mate, it's your fault for getting caught," Ned replied, with a wry grin, before making a face at Vianna. The Ravenclaw and Slytherin watched with quiet amusement at the siblings small squabble, watching the Vincenzi's bicker was one of the better spectator sports at Hogwarts, and was a welcome distraction. "Aww, don't be jealous big boy, I promise I only have eyes for you," Ned teasingly said, winking charmingly at the Italian boy. He just loved messing with Vince this way. "Can't a boy and girl be friends without people assuming something is going on? Honestly," Airi said, speaking more to Vianna then to the boys as she was sure she knew what their answers would be. "Boys and girls cannot be friends," Ned said in an offhand manner. He knew very well from personal experience it was impossible. |
Vianna chuckled softly at Airi’s comment, and flashed her brother a triumphant smirk as Ned, surprisingly, took her side. Though she knew if he had to choose which sibling to pick on, most often his choice was Vince. The Italian boy wasn’t amused though, and he just rolled his eyes. PSHHHH. His fault? How was trying to get ahead in life at the expense of others a fault at all? If anything, he should be rewarded for his cunningness. “I think so. One of my best mates is a boy,” Vianna said in response to Airi’s question. Naturally, Vince had to comment. “That’s only because that William McGit kid is the epitome of unattractive. Anyway, doesn’t change the fact that he probably has a crush on you.” Vianna slapped her brother’s forearm, a gesture which caused him to wince and pull his arm out of the girl’s reach. “You are so rude sometimes!” “Whatever. I agree with Ned,” said Vince, tilting his head in Ned’s direction to gesture toward the boy without exposing his arm again. “If I talk to a good-looking girl, I want to snog her, not be her friend. And if I talk to an ugly girl… well, I don’t talk to ugly girls, actually.” Exactly how she was related to Vince Vincenzi was beyond Vianna, but she had given up on trying to find any adoption papers at her father’s office each summer. “Anyway. Did you guys hear about Cormic McAllister yesterday?” she asked, her blue eyes sparkling in a way that showed she had just gone on gossip mode. |
"Seriously, like what is wrong with that guys face?" Ned asked, laughing way too loudly for someone who was in a library, causing Airi to shh him with an incredulous look on her face, seriously, did no one get the fact that they were in a library? Airi guessed not. "Remind me, why do I hang out with you guys, again?" Airi ruefully asked, tying back her dark hair into a loose ponytail. Her large eyes widened as Vianna mentioned something about Cormic McAllister, a popular fifth year Gryffindor. "What about Cormic?" Airi asked, she wasn't one for gossip but when it was someone she knew she couldn't help but be curious. "I think I heard something... I can't remember," Ned said, with a shrug. |
Vianna shot Ned a glare as the boy commented on her friend’s appearance. If there was one thing she absolutely could not stand was cruelty towards others, but it seemed her brothers and Ned were immune to guilt. She let the comment slide as she focused her attention on Airi instead, the only sane person of the group. “You don’t know?” asked Vianna in a whisper, blue eyes wide. Suddenly she seemed very interested in following the library’s rules on keeping voices low. “They found him unconscious in the Forbidden Forest. He’d been missing for a couple days when a group of boys decided to go look for him. He’s in the Hospital Wing now, but there’s no word on how long it’ll take him to come back to us… if ever.” She shuddered. Vince’s dark eyebrows furrowed above his blue eyes as he listened to the story. “I think I remember now. Isn’t that the kid who was dared to go in there in exchange for five galleons? What an idiot. I bet he probably just tripped on a root and hit his head on a rock,” he laughed, and Vianna had to hold the urge to kick him in the shins for his lack of sympathy. “I bet I would’ve not only survived the trip, but brought a few tamed giant spiders with me as well.” Vianna rolled her eyes. “You think you’re just so brave, don’t you?” Git. |
Airi's ink stained hand instinctively went to her mouth as the young girl gasped at Cormic's fate. But he had been such a nice boy, a bit dull headed, but nice. Airi glared at Vince's uncaring response, really the boys could be so immature sometimes. "That isn't funny Vince, seriously, this is awful." Airi said, saddened by the news, though she had not been great friends with the boy in question, Airi was an emphatic young women and felt deeply for the pain of others. "They ought to take him to Saint Mungos," Airi added, taking down a few notes to clear her mind. "Oh, come on Airi, the boy's a git, he had it coming," Ned said, sure he understood that the situation was bad, but he also knew that Cormic was a thunder head and had practically been begging for someone to kill him by heading into the forest. "I for once, agree with Vince, the forest is child's play if you know what not to do," Ned confidently, smirking at the lovely Vianna, he was as always eager to impress and eager to prove himself, and because Ned was not one to look before he leapt, he was completely oblivious to the trap he was setting himself. "I doubt that you and Ned would last s day in the forest, no offense," Airi said, speaking honestly. |
Vianna nodded her head in agreement to Airi's words, while Vince merely rolled his eyes. What happened to that git Cormic was totally funny. Hilarious, even. "Yeah, to the loony bin side of Mungo's," he added to her last statement. Vianna could hardly believe her ears. It was one thing for Vince to be acting like an idiot because, well, he was one. But Ned? The girl had always had a little more faith in him. "You two are idiots," she muttered, shaking her head. As Airi voiced her lack of faith in the two boys, Vince's jaw dropped and he gasped dramatically. "You kidding?! Ned said it - the forest is child's play! It would be like a walk in the park!" Vianna narrowed her eyes at her brother and suddenly smirked, crossing her arms over her chest and leaning back into her chair casually. "Oh really?" she said, turning from Vince to Ned. "If you are so brave and skilled then, why don't you go into some stupid place and try to make it out alive?" Vince was all on it. "Forest? You just say when." "No." Vianna shook her head. "Somewhere better." Crystal blue eyes sparkling with mischief, she leaned in slightly over the table and whispered at the two boys, "The Shrieking Shack." |
Airi was appalled at the boys behavior, she knew that they could care less about other people, but this was excessive, and just not nice. What was wrong with them. "You two are awful, especially you Vince," Airi said, gathering up her things into a clean pile, separate from the others, that way when they got really nasty she could easily excuse herself. "Come on Vianna, it isn't all that big of a deal," Ned said, trying to assuage the young woman. Ned really had no idea why Vianna and Airlia were being so uppity, they barely knew Cormic, any of them, so what did it matter? Simply put, it didn't. "It is not child's play! The greatest Wizard in history nearly died in there three times, and excuse me, but I doubt ether of you are better Wizards then Harry Potter," Airi said, astounded by Vince's and Ned's arrogance, she had never heard the boys talk so foolishly before. Ned nodded at Vince's words, they could totally handle themselves i the forest or any other wasteland they were thrusted into. "Yeah, Vi, we've got skills," The Slyhterin smirked. At Vianna's words Ned didn't bat an eye, the Slytherin was all about challenges, and was far too prideful to back down from even the worst of them. With his trademark broad grin, Ned leaned forward, looking Vianna straight in her beautiful blue eyes. "Are you daring us Vincenzi?" Ned playfully, almost charmingly asked. |
Quote:
“Airi’s right,” said Vianna, but even she could be a little foolish at times. Though she agreed with Airi’s statements, she was more interested in teaching the boys a lesson than she was in scolding them, a decision which sometimes proved as stupid as the boys’ actions themselves. When Vianna announced that she was daring them into the Shrieking Shack, Vince’s blue eyes widened and he pulled back slightly from the table. OOOHOHOHO, ohhh no, oh no siree. He’d heard stories about this place. The forest was one thing - he’d snuck around there plenty of times before, though of course never deep enough to find himself in any real trouble. But the Shack? That was a completely different story. Thieves and murderers hid there! Not to mention it was usually accompanied by a generous number of unfriendly ghosts. “Sorry Vi, but now you’re overdoing it.” Vianna wasn’t listening to her brother anymore, as her blue eyes were locked on Ned. Secretly, she didn’t want Vince to go on the mission anyway because despite being a stupid git, he was still her brother. Ned, on the other hand, she didn’t mind giving a little scare. So, at the Slytherin’s question, Vianna narrowed her eyes and nodded her head. “That’s right, Hall. This is a dare.” |
Quote:
Filled with arrogance and a willful nature, though Ned knew well enough how bad of an idea this was, he couldn't back down, especially not when it was Vianna daring him, Vianna who would only think less of him if he backed out now. No, he couldn't back down, he would have to follow through. With a confident smile that did not match his inner feelings of anxiety, Ned ignored Vince's desertion and addressed Vianna. "How long? Vincenzi, and try to make it challenging for Merlin's sake," Ned laughed. "Guys seriously, this is just dumb, Vianna come on," Airi said, pleading with her friend to end things. |
