Video: David Yates, David Heyman talk production at Deathly Hallows: Part 2 luncheon

Warner Bros hosted a private luncheon as part of the promotion for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in New York City on Monday evening, which actors Daniel Radcliffe and Alan Rickman attended, as well as producer David Heyman and director David Yates. Heyman and Yates made small speeches to the audience about their involvement to the series, giving thanks to J.K. Rowling, their cast and crew, and Warner Bros for the support of the series' success. Footage of the speech, as well as audio of Dan's interview with The Hollywood Reporter, who covered the event, can be seen and heard below; the transcript for Dan's interview can be found here.

David Heyman: Over the course of the, I guess, 10 years that we've been making these films, we became a family. You know, Dan, Alan -- so many of these people -- worked on all eight films, and it was just the most wonderful odyssey. And now that it's over, it's a little weird -- you know, that family's all gone its own way -- but those 10 years are filled with the most fantastic memories. And I've had the pleasure of working with some great directors, but none greater than David Yates, who really had the daunting challenge of not just directing one film but directing four films -- he's still on holiday, by the way. He also brought the series to a conclusion in such a perfect way that I really think did justice to Jo Rowling's magnificent books.

The fact is that none of us would be here were it not for Jo, and I know that she feels really proud of this film -- she's a producer on it. She feels incredibly proud of it. And I thank you all for being here to support us and to support it.

David Yates: There's very little to add other than to say thank you for being here. It has been an incredible journey -- I've only been along for half of it, and it just feels strange coming back. We finished the movie about four months ago, and after the promotions and the premieres we felt we'd, kind of, left it behind. But it's wonderful to be back and just talking about it, because we are very proud of the last film.

There was huge expectation and anticipation, and an enormous amount of pressure, because this material and these books mean so much to so many people around the world, and we carried that responsibility around with us. We did a DVD launch a week ago in Orlando, and we met many of these young fans, and they were all really wonderful, and the thing they kept saying to us was, 'Thank you,' which was really, really touching. So we left it behind in July, but we're coming back to see it again now. Thank you for being here and supporting the film. We very much appreciate it.

A second interview with Dan at the luncheon from The Village Voice was released, where he and the reporter joked about Dan's projects and future.

Hi, Daniel. Let's start with your Broadway gig. Have you found new textures in your How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying role after all these months?
Daniel:
Yes. I recently saw a bootleg video of our sixth preview, and I thought, 'We need to leak something new out there.' I was mortified. It's a lot funnier now and the interplay with John Larroquette has come along.

How did you allow a bootleg to be shot? Why not turn into Patti LuPone?
Daniel:
There are certain things you can do only when you're Patti LuPone. But [in Equus], Richard Griffiths would stop, turn to the audience member, and stare till the phone ended.

That works. Harry Potter is ending too! Right?
Radcliffe:
I hope so.

You hope so?
Daniel:
I loved every second and we really had a great time. I think people think we were being disingenuous when we said that, but we meant it. But 10 years is a long enough time for one character.

And Twilight is ending too! Everything's ending! Well, at least there's still The Fast and the Furious.
Daniel:
(smiling) That'll never end. It'll go on ad infinitum.

By the way, I was supposed to host you at a HK gay bar event a while ago, but it didn't happen.
Radcliffe:
I don't know. I go day to day with what they tell me.

Sorry, but I see the names Heyman and Yates, and I have to supress the urge to vurp. And to think, they're allowing Yates to take on our beloved Doctor Who now.....THE AGONY! THE PAIN! :banghead: :banghead:

Am I really the only one actually happy to see yates directing a Doctor Who movie? Maybe it's because I never got into the series and I hope Yates will make somthing different from it.
