Video: David Heyman talks BAFTAs, Deathly Hallows II, J.K. Rowling, trio, more
Producer David Heyman spoke to The Telegraph on his work in the Harry Potter films, receiving the BAFTA film awards' Outstanding Contribution to Cinema award this coming Sunday, and a few tidbits about his three leads, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson (all of whom had very kind things to say about him).
Heyman also mentioned that he has no idea if J.K. Rowling would write another Harry Potter book, but wouldn't be surprised if she released a supplementary book, like Quidditch Through the Ages; he also teased about the final installment of the film series, Deathly Hallows: Part II, and how there will be quite a lot of action leading up to the final confrontation between Harry and Lord Voldemort. Heyman also spoke to BBC Breakfast earlier today on the details as to how he got involved with the Harry Potter films, beginning in 1997. That can be viewed here. Quote:
"If someone were to ask me what [J.K. Rowling]'s going to do with Harry Potter, I haven't got a clue, but it wouldn't surprise me if she does some tangentially-related things like [2001 spin-off] Quidditch Through The Ages.
"But I can't imagine Harry being a stockbroker at 35. That doesn't really seem the stuff of Harry Potter."

The eighth and final instalment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, is released in July. "It will be emotional for all of us when it's over, no question. It's there, the end is nigh, but I don't think the full impact has... I think we're all quite exhausted and looking forward to a nice nap," he says.

All three leads "had an innate quality that resembled their character", he says. "Rupert was from a big family; Emma was fiercely intelligent and in denial about being like Hermione; and Daniel had a fundamental decency about him."
"I think it's great to see how they've grown up, not just as actors but as people. They're still very much the same kids that I met many years ago. They've grown up and they are funny and wicked and naughty and bright, and I think as actors their work is just getting better and better. They've blossomed."

"It's really wonderful that it's the whole franchise being recognised and it's a collective award. Each film has anywhere between 2,000 and 6,000 people working on it and so really the award is for each and every one of us. We are like a family."
