Video: David Barron reveals Deathly Hallows: Part II epilogue will be 2 minutes long

At CinemaCon earlier this week, producers David Heyman and David Barron revealed that the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II epilogue will be about a couple of minutes long, and will revolve around the cycles of life. That can be viewed below.

"It's not long. It's about two ... a couple of minutes," Barron said. "It's long enough to tell its story. We like it. We think it works well, and it does leave you feeling a bit [emotional]."

"We're expressing it through our three principle characters, who obviously have had a terrible time in many respects. Because they have been fighting Voldemort for longer than we can remember, and came close to death, you'll see the state of the school at the end. It was not an easy battle," he said. "As countries, as nations do, as cultures do, they recover and they renew and life carries on. It is about renewal."

"[The epilogue is] about the cycles of life," Heyman explained. "It's about Harry, Ron and Hermione taking their children to King's Cross station to the very place where the story began, to begin the journey that they began many years ago. It's really beautiful and really tender."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II will be released in theatres and IMAX July 15, 2011.

I expected it to be longer. I wanted to enjoy it for as long as I could.
No one wants to see the ending- the saddest part, the happiest part, and the last you hear of Harry- to be two minutes long... [:/]

ThePureBloodPrincess 04-01-2011 09:19 PM

Awwww I wish it was longer, it was a great part of the book. I understand what they mean though, I just hope they do J.K's amazing writing justice!

Samira Malfoy Potter 04-01-2011 09:37 PM

I wish it was longer, but if they say they like it, who am i to judge. I REALLY hope they do it justice!!

AlwaysSnapesGirl 04-01-2011 10:23 PM

So long as I get my "[Snape] was the bravest man I ever knew" line from Harry, I'm totally cool with however long they decide to make the epilogue ^_^

SlytherinX_Green 04-01-2011 10:39 PM

Makes sense that it would only be a couple of minutes long. It makes the fact that Harry moved on and had a family much more poignant, I think.

Expecto-Penguin 04-01-2011 10:42 PM

i wish it was longer :[, but i hope they do it well! if they don't i will be angry. i know i will cry at the end when it is all over

khrabcak 04-01-2011 10:48 PM

Do Harry's children have a mother? I hope that she doesn't get pushed to the side in this.

khrabcak 04-01-2011 10:58 PM

xHazel.Eyedx 04-01-2011 11:57 PM

Awk Davey, you can make longer than two minutes?!?....pleeeease :)

Insane 04-02-2011 12:07 AM

Only 2 minutes?? =(

ShiningStar 04-02-2011 12:08 AM

Two minutes does seem a bit short imo. 5 minutes I can understand but 2 minutes implies to me they cut quite a bit out of what we see in the book and that was short enough to begin with.

lily21 04-02-2011 12:21 AM

omg i am going to cry so much with this movie
i tend to get very excited with everything harry potter
not sad really but i am noticing with this movie even the cool stuff, like the dragon poster the other day make me cry like a baby...its sooooo sad...that its ending...but at the same time it has to, i now that! i cried a lot with the book, i remember, this book was exquisitely sad to read...and i cant wait to see it translate to film

iwantorlando05 04-02-2011 12:43 AM

Hopefully they will make the most of those two minutes!! I can't wait to see it!!!! :D

Lissy Longbottom 04-02-2011 12:52 AM

I'm hoping that, even though the epilogue is only 2 minutes, that that means they left a lot of the Battle and the Prince's Tale in the movie and stayed very true to the books in that aspect :D

harrypotter101 04-02-2011 12:58 AM

Cool!

agreed. If that line is not in the film...I might have to boycott

Ginny GL 04-02-2011 01:43 AM

I'm scared of how they're going to muck it. Let's hope not too much. I wondrer why they have to delete things while inventing others. There's so much in the books, why invent?

Arou 04-02-2011 01:49 AM

Actually, it's a lot funnier for the director and the producers to had a little originality than just stick to a book (I talk by experience).
Peter Jackson will do it in the Hobbit, and I don't think it's a bad thing for the story... But I agree that 2 minutes is a little short, since we'll all be crying our lives at that moment. Maybe too short will create a shock ( for the fans I mean)... We'll not even have time to say goodbye to our characters, or maybe just to the dan rup and emma team.

That's exactly what I was thinking!
If Hermione gets all the lines and screen time in the Epilogue I will scream and throw things!
I want it to be centred on Harry, Ginny and their children!

R-Luchy~W*7*PG~ 04-02-2011 05:17 AM

Oh,I think it's okay..No problem..

phoenix_tears 04-02-2011 06:52 AM

Hmm, I don't think I like this. But hopefully it'll turn out good and not just a glimpse or something like that.
