Television biopic on J.K. Rowling to begin production in Canada this March
 

Victoria publication The Colonist is reporting that a made-for-television biopic on Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is set to begin production in the Canadian city of Victoria in early March. Australian actress Poppy Montgomery is confirmed to play the role of the world-famous author in the story of her rise to fame and success. The film will be produced by Stange Magic Productions.

I don't know how to feel about this. The word "unauthorized" always makes me uncomfortable because it sounds as if they might add things, negative things about her that didn't happen, just to make the film's plot interesting and people, especially non-HP fans, will have a negative image of her based on the film, not her actual actions. An yes, there are people who believe what the film gives them is correct, not the textbook.

I know people are going to say, "No one's perfect; they have a bad sides too," but at the same time adding a trait to their personality that's non-existent doesn't seem very fair. I guess the most recent example would be the Social Network with Mark Zuckerberg portrayed as someone who wanted to get into the elite clubs at Harvard whereas in real life he wasn't anything of that sort. That simple tweak makes a big deal in a person's overall character. Maybe they should have waited a little longer to do this? Either way, seeing as I don't know any specific details of the film, I guess I'll just have to wait and see to judge but I'm not going to lie; I have my misgivings. I wonder what J.K. Rowling has to say about this...

Not too sure how I feel about this. The unauthorized part is a little disconcerting.

I knew this would happen eventually, but I was hoping for something more sophisticated. Like a film directed by Clint Eastwood or Tim Burton or something. With Cate Blanchett playing JK Rowling. :D
