Stuart Craig cried watching Snape's death filming for Deathly Hallows In a new interview with the Telegraph, production designer Stuart Craig (who is up for a BAFTA tomorrow for his work in Half-Blood Prince), spoke about some of his favourite pieces of sets and instruments used throughout the Harry Potter films, including the Monster Book of Monsters, the Angel of Death found at the graveyard in Goblet of Fire, the Weasley family clock, and much more. In regards to the current production of Deathly Hallows, Stuart revealed that Professor's Snape's death scene took place a week before the interview, and stated that he actually cried afterwards, due to Alan's brilliant performance. He also noted that a new Golden Snitch had to be created for the final film, as it will be the one to open when Harry walks into the Forbidden Forest to face Voldemort. The full interview, courtesy of RupertGrint.net, can be read below. http://www.snitchseeker.com/gallery/...e-sc-scan2.JPG Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be out November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011. |
Stuart Craig is sooooooo awesome with his work. He brings the movies too life. Great interview. I'll probably  when I see Snape's death in DH. I don't want HP to end.  |
Blah! I hate Snape. I won't cry. He deserved it. :O |
OMG, I can't wait to see that scene!! |
I got this magazine today as well :D I'm definately going to cry when Snape dies, I even felt kind of teary when I read that Stuart cried! He's absolutely amazing at creating all those incredible sets and props  |
Shows how much effort the actors are putting into their performances for Deathly Hallows |

oh and i'd like to say i think Stuart Craig is amazing, the production design on the films doesn't get enough credit, it is brilliant |
Of course I will cry when Snape dies. He is my favourite character and I cried so much while reading it in the book. I couldn't believe that he had to die. He was such a brilliant character. |
That's cool. :) That scene had better be heartbreaking! |
Cool! |
Awh, im going to cry too  |
Aw, I might cry when I see Rickman's incredible performance, too. But that'll be good, because that means he's an extraordinary actor (which he has proved time and time again). But that's the best type of crying, the silent type (not bawling and screaming). I remember watching Dan's performance in My Boy Jack a few years ago and I cried just the same way. Tears were pouring, but not a sound came out of my mouth (maybe for the fact that it was on late at night and I didn't want to wake my parents :P). |
Aww bless, so will I probably x |
I have a feeling ill def tear up during the last films :( |
Aww, it's already making me tear up just thinking about it and reading that Stuart Craig cried too. |
WICKED!! I can’t believe they’ve already filmed that scene! I’m not a big Snape fan at all, but that scene was pretty sad in the book. I can’t wait to see how it looks on screen. It's so ironic how the only person there when Snape takes his last breath is the boy he berated and ridiculed for the past 6 years. And of course after Snape's last words, “look at me” I’m going to be an absolute wreck. I also think there’s a lot of symbolism in having Snape die in the Shrieking Shack. In a way, it was the Marauder’s club house and I think Snape was always envious of them. |
WOW!!!WOW!!! This scene must be filmed very realistic. It's going to be very sad  |
Thats so cool! i will definitly cry when snape dies! |
Oh man, I'm already feeling weepy!:sevribbon::sevribbon::slyth::slyth: :sevribbon::sevribbon: |

Anyway, I really hope they do The Prince's Tale. I can't see how that can be cut out. I just hope they do it justice. Snape deserves his side of the story! I'm going to cry when I watch it :( Alan Rickman is truly a talented actor. |
OMG! I can't wait for that scene. And i don't care how much i didn't like Snape before DH, i know i'll cry so much when he dies; after all, it's what i did when he died in the book. I'm so glad they're including that scene! Can't wait for DH! |
I might cry too. That was a sad scene in the book, even though Snape's one of those characters you love to hate. |

Awh!! I can't wait to see that scene. |
I believe only Alan who can do the best for that special scene,of course... Want to see it.. Cannot believe they already filmed it.. |
There's a bit of a mess with the columns... Wonde why? |
Im' sure I'll cry too. Can't wait to see that scene! And that guy is a brilliant production designer! |

To each his own, I guess. :S But I would definitely start bawling, Snape's one of the greatest literary characters, it IS going to be very heart rendering scene :( |
I'm sure i'm gonna cry when Snape dies  |
Slytherin in my heart Ahh.....Im going to cry... http://www.snitchseeker.com/images/smilies/cry.gif:bye::bye::bye::bye::bye::bye::bye: |
Aw, he's awesome :loved: Poor snapey! |
i haven't seen the last movie yet, and i'm missing them now... :( and i haven't seen any h/g images yet... |
let's wait and see!! but what haven't they filmed yet?? |
Aw. Reading this made me feel sad! It feels weird thinking that they've already filmed this scene. Poor Snape. :( On a brighter note though I really liked the map Jo drew for them! It's epic! :) |
:rip:Oh my...I'm now super nervous! :snape2:Snape has been my fav since book one and I'm going to sob  like a baby when he and Fred die. :console: |
*cries* Oh no! :snape2:We love to hate you... |
Oh!I am going to cry,too! |
Oh, man. This sounds like it's going to be one heck of an emotionally overwhelming scene, as will be many others in the DH movies. I'll definitely have a few packs of tissues tucked away in my purse. |
Wow. That's intense. I can't wait to see what the scene turned out like...though Snape was one of those characters who I kinda had to hate at times, I just...might cry. :( |

he cried? wow. i'll try not to cry. i'm not of a crying person |
Oooo, they filmed that scene already? Excellent. I'm so happy that Stuart Craig is satisfied with the end result... man, if he cried at that scene, then there's no way I'll manage to stay dry-eyed when Snape dies! Let alone the 'Into the Forest' moment, the emotion of the battle scenes, the deaths of tonks and lupin, the powerful euphoria in the great hall after the defeat of Voldemort... If done correctly, the final half of Deathly-Hallows part 2 can be a real sob-fest. COME ON Yates, please get this right! |
Oh Merlin, I bet I'll cry too :'/ |
I'll probably cry too, I never used to like Snape but once I found out he really was a good guy I started to like him. |
amazing article about an amazing man, and he live 5 miles from me in burnham...!!! didnt know that! |
Stuart Craig cried OH I just know I'll be a wreck!! :snape2: |
wow that says a LOT. Stuart Craig and his work are amazing. |
omg :/ ı'm sure that ı'll cry :'( this movie can't finish and severus can't die :( |
I'm going to cry so much when poor Snapey dies :'( I always hated him until I figured out how brave and semi-loving he actually was. I can't wait! |
Great read!! Alan is an amazing actor i think i will cry too at everything i don't want it to end!!! :( |
It was nice to get a bit more insight into what goes on behind set. The pieces in the Harry Potter films truly are amazing. Oh I'm sure I will definitely cry during Snape's death. It was such a poignant scene in Deathly Hallows. |

I am sure Snape's death scene will be perfect cause Alan Rickman is a fantastic actor. (I am not just saying that cause he is my favorite actor) |
Alan Rickman is great as Snape and also a good actor, I just know he will make the scene of Snape's death brilliant. I'm SO excited, (I just can't hide it)!!!! :D:D:D |
