Stephen Fry attacks Sci Fi writers
 

Stephen Fry, the voice of the UK Potter Audio Books, has labelled Sci Fi writers as 'unappealing' saying that they take themselves too seriously.

"I wouldn't want to mention names but I do think science-fiction writers take themselves far too seriously. I always picture them as the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons: you know the one, fat and unappealing."

Wow, can you say 'stereotype'? What a jerk, in my probably not so humble opinion.

steves cool he prob just had a run in with one of those types. not that his opinion matters to most sci-fi fans.

Stephen Fry does an *awesome* job with reading the HP books and all... but that is a bit stero-typical. I'm not into sci-fi that's all aliens and crap, but there are different types of sci-fi that's quite awesome and fun to watch.

Oh well. I personally like sci fi, but to each his own.

Thats his opinon...but hey i dont disagree nor agree, i dont really take the time to look at Sci Fi

I like a lot of sci-fi, but (obviously) don't know any of the writers. He sounds like he's stereotyping a lot of people, but it makes me wonder what kind of run-ins he's had with the sci-fi writers? Who ticked him off? :rolleyes: Maybe someone didn't hire him to do an Audio-book for them? :litebulb:

Stephen Fry isn't exactly the guy who keeps his opinions to himself.

He is the sterotype british of being an old, stuck-up posh silly-man.

You really have to British to understand his humour.

And if your taking his comments to heart, then you have completely missed the point.

Boys got a point...too much science and not enough appeal which is why this is a HP forum and not a scifi forum...while we're on the subject Star Wars is not science fiction it's skifi...there's a difference since Star Wars has no legitimate science...trust me hyper speed doesn't have a recognized definition like lightspeed...which is 300,000 km/s, I'm taking Astronomy...hehehe
Star Wars is fantasy with a bad scifi makeup...it's still good I love Star Wars, the first three anyways, but George Lucas is no Heinlein, and if you don't know who Heinlein is, you don't know real Science Fiction...and he didn't take himself too seriously. *hugs Robert Heinlein*
