Rupert Grint 'autograph ban' (updated)

The Sun ... is reporting that pupils at Richard Hale School in Hertford have been banned from asking Rupert Grint for his autograph. They claim that anyone who does so will receive a detention.

Quote:

The Sun's source said: "All the other kids were really proud of him and were asking him about the movies.

"Senior staff held an assembly warning pupils not to bother Rupert. Anybody flaunting the rules gets a lesson long detention."

NOTE: The Sun is a tabloid newspaper so take this with a pinch of salt.

It's also worth mentioning that Rupert finished school last summer; he stated so in an interview with The Guardian newspaper in November last year.

Quote:

"I'm a year closer to being able to drive. I've finished school, so don't have any more homework."

lol that is a very grown up thing to say...

THe sun is the best tabloid for talking utter rubbish!

EmmaRiddle 09-19-2005 11:47 AM

And I love them for it, in a way. But I wanted to post this to make sure that people knew it's most likely rubbish and to not believe it.

Kazters 09-19-2005 11:48 AM

I agree... but i wonder how there staff get paid for being wrong?

HPgurl00 09-19-2005 11:50 AM

argh.

*mumbles angrily, walks away while throwing coffee at computer monitor.*

i think that was the only thing fit to convey how i feel about this tabloid.

roar.

Nixhearted 09-19-2005 11:50 AM

karen, perhaps that's their policy. "Have you ever told lies and got away with it? Did your teachers always call you "the bad kid"? Then call at The Sun because we have the job for you."

So this means that after doing his GCSE's Rupert's not going to continue studying right?

EmmaRiddle 09-19-2005 11:52 AM

Or how they even qualify to call themselves journalists. Of course, there could be a chance Rupert is wrong and he didn't in fact finish school. But I think the boy himself would be most likely to know what he's doing :lmao: And if he says he finished school ... quite frankly, I believe him over The Sun anyday.

He did his GCSE's last summer; Dan did his this year. Rupert then went on to say in November that he'd finished school. Case closed.

See that's what happens when I get the tenses wrong. :head: Thanks for answering though. I still find it weird that one doesn't continue studying, but that's probably just me. *shrug*

Kazters 09-19-2005 12:01 PM

you dont have to in the Uk you can leave school at 16.. and Rupert is probaly one of those peopel who knew that school wont help him in his job... and well he is a good actor and already has done films outside potter!

EmmaRiddle 09-19-2005 12:02 PM

Well a lot of people do. But at 16 the child labour laws end. Which means as an actor they can work more hours. And really if you're as famous as them you don't need to do A Levels as much as say ordinary kids do, because they've already got an occupation. Having said that an article did say Dan was going to continue studying.

I know. We have the same educational system around here. Maybe it's just me having always been taught that you need to keep going higher and higher. Meh.

But I guess in Rupert's case, who also seems to be a very promising actor, he can just continue acting without any problems like school.

I remember Dan said he wanted to continue studying in one interview. There will probably be a number of the other HP actors who will continue. If I recall well, Tom Felton for example said he would.

Kazters 09-19-2005 12:08 PM

hasnt TOm left school as well? he wants to go to college..

Tom is 17/18 so he may well haev actualy finished school.. i know i finished school when i was 17 adn i went right through tot he end.

Kitty Loves Steps 09-19-2005 12:15 PM

That is so stupid! What on earth! I think it sounds like a load of rubbish! I dont think much of The Sun. I say its a silly little story just to fill a space!

After HP, something about fishing college. He's 18 in a few days.

dans_girl37 09-19-2005 12:35 PM

Rupert is so lucky to have finished school now! In Australia you can drop out in year 10 which means you will be 15/16. How old is Dan? And isnt Rupert the oldest of the 3?

Kazters 09-19-2005 12:38 PM

Yeah he is.. Rupert is 17, Dan 16 and emma 15

lol... The Sun makes me sad.... I don't think this is true, considering he's "done" school... Oh well... I was hoping to move to that school just to get his autograph... who cares about detention?!

luckyangelkmf 09-19-2005 12:53 PM

WOW, what the driving age limit in London?

Kazters 09-19-2005 12:54 PM

in the UK the age is 17! but you can drivre on pivate land before that

EmmaRiddle 09-19-2005 12:56 PM

The driving age is 17. That quote is from when he was 16, last year.

alyssa_hilary 09-19-2005 01:49 PM

mysterious 09-19-2005 02:50 PM

:) tabloids give me a nice little laugh.. lol.

Leeness 09-19-2005 03:39 PM

I would be gutted if that was me and really did happen.

Raazia 09-19-2005 04:14 PM

hahaha...that's a funny article....at first, i was like....hmmm sad for the kids who are so close to him and can't even ask for an autograph....but it's sooo funny....The Sun...hahahaha

Radcliffesgal4eva 09-19-2005 04:53 PM

lolz the sun r retarded, dey sud get their facts straight first. every1 nos hes finished skool, but hey trust da sun 2 make nethin up 4 a story

Aimz 09-19-2005 04:56 PM

that's a little harsh don't you think, giving them detention,i'm mean if i went to school with him i would have been one of the first in line for a autograph, i think he should be chuffed people want it in the first place.

Dean_Thomas 09-19-2005 04:57 PM

There are so many bad rumors we need a rubbish bin like JK. We'll call it "The Salt Barrel" cause the "grain of salt" phrase is becoming incredibly common.

Cheesecake 09-19-2005 05:37 PM

Yes,yes ...the sun again *sigh*
Well at least we've got something to laugh ;)
And maybe th ban is still aktive and they recieve detention ... who knows

Tao 09-19-2005 05:51 PM

LOL I love tabloids. I mean, this story is a bit stupid any ways, isn't it? Not only because Rupert has mentioned he's out of school, but it's 4 movies and several years later and they're just not doing a story on asking for autographs in school? I mean, at least do a 'story' like this when it's early on in their career and people are star struck. :p

Alita 09-19-2005 06:26 PM

lol, i guess going to a school you've been to for a long time...shouldn't be too much, but i guess for rupert...it is for him,

EmmaRiddle 09-19-2005 06:40 PM

The article is talking about past events. I've seen a scan of it (will add in a minute). Why bother printing an article about something that happened well over a year ago? Need to fill space eh? :lmao:

Aim2033 09-19-2005 06:52 PM

If I went to school with Rupert I would want to be his bestfriend!

"Rupert Grint...our new celebrity"

I'm sure at least one of his teachers was dying to say that

prettyinpink 09-20-2005 01:10 AM

WOW!! Very interesting!

#1DanFan14 09-20-2005 01:28 AM

Thats interestinhg...but I probably wouldn't be able to help asking for ONE. It would be worth detention. *Evil Rupert fan*

Simple Muggle 09-20-2005 02:11 AM

he finished school?!

princess of*hp* 09-20-2005 03:12 AM

If that was true, that's total rubbish. I would risk a one or a couple of detentions just to ask.

vape07 09-20-2005 06:11 AM

why report such things?? agh..

They even had to mention how much money "they think" he's made from the HP films, and how much his house costs?!

That was sooooo nasty! evil-nasty!!! no respect at all @#$^%&

What if they did the same thing to Dan?! Bcoz I'm sure Dan earned more, he's the lead star! I'm sure Dan and his fans would be very offended too if that happened!

Lady_Jezz 09-21-2005 06:24 PM

It still is cute I think....

beatboxing_chipmunk 09-22-2005 11:31 PM
