Pottermore set to open to the public in April
 

The Pottermore blog announced today that the Pottermore website is set to open to the public in early April. Apologizing for delays stemming to last October, the Pottermore team cited it was due to the extensive programming required to overhaul the site for the huge numbers of anticipated users.

We always knew Pottermore would be incredibly popular, which is why we made the decision to only open to one million Beta users to begin with. We wanted to make sure that we had a really good understanding of how people want to use the site and which bits we’d need to modify before giving more people access.

We gathered some incredibly useful feedback from our Beta users, and it became clear that our original platform wouldn’t be suitable when millions more users came on to the site. So we made a big decision: to move Pottermore to an entirely different platform set up. This ‘invisible’ change has involved a lot of work behind the scenes but it will enable our users to get the best from Pottermore as it grows and develops.

There have definitely been some challenges and the whole Pottermore team has been working really hard to incorporate all the Beta activity and feedback. This means that over the coming weeks and months we’ll be adding exclusive content and many more exciting features (such as sounds) to Pottermore for you to explore, share and discover.

I really hope that this new platform does what all they are implying that it will. I am a little surprised to read that they seem to be a bit startled by just how popular Pottermore would be...

Now let's just hope that CoS is actually released sooner than half a year from now.

I hope they open adding CoS or some stuff in PS.

Totally agree that there needs to be sound effects, it always felt weird without them.

I hope they will unblock chamber of secrets soon too. And i wish the shopping on Diagon Alley to be more interactive.

Ohh that's nice! My friends can finally have a pottermore account!

I'm excited that I can go on Pottermore soon and I can't wait! I've been going on and checking for months and months to see if it's open for the public. I guess I was nevergood enough to go on before. :(

Yes! I was away on vacation with my family so unfortunately I was away when Pottermore opened for Beta users. I've waited for quite a while now, my friends keeps offering me her accounts but that is wrong. I feel like I need to join Pottermore myself, by myself or else I'll never experience the excitement of joining. Nevertheless, it opens of my birthday month! :D:whale:

I was starting to post angry comments on the Pottermore Pensieve on this site. About how it was beyond insulting to the fan base that they extended it so long without even an explanation. So here's the explanation. I'm happy with them as long as we don't find out that it will be pro-longed again.

Yay, its about time pottermore finally become available to the public. I am hoping the site will be amazing and well worth the wait, especially since the site maintenance has been working so hard to make it great.
