Pius Thicknesse cast for Deathly Hallows

British actor Guy Henry (Starter for 10, V for Vendetta, Bright Young Things) has been cast as Minister for Magic Pius Thicknesse in Deathly Hallows. During a BBC radio 2 talk show early this morning with Sarah Kennedy, Guy sent a report to the host confirming that he will play the new Minister in the final films (that segment starts at 1:15 into the broadcast). He stated:

Quote:

"I've done the deal so I'm allowed to say, I'm going to be Pius Thicknesse! The new Minister of Magic in the final two Harry Potter films. Very exciting. First day of filming, July 27th!"
Photos of Guy can be seen here:

So, will they have Scrimgeour? I mean Bill Nighy was cast, but they didn't specify his role and that was his rumored role was MoM, not Picknesse of course, so I really think this might mean that Nighy is going to be cast as Aberforth!!!! I really hope so, he's such a terrific actor and I would love to see him in that role!

They already cast Aberforth ages ago. He's going to be played by Ciaran Hinds.

That's a bit unfair, Thicknesse is described as having a large overhanging forhead, so much so that he looks like a 'crab peering out from under a rock'.

Also, Guy Henry in Lost in Austen was hilarious. His performance should be interesting!

Loved him in Lost in Austen ;)

(Guilty secret, I knew he was cast for over a week, a fan at the UK HBP Truck Tour said he was cast as Thicknesse but wasn't allowed to announce it or something. Though I wasn't sure at the time whether it was true or not. The woman from WB looked like she wanted to strangle him :xd:)

LunaLovesPudding 07-03-2009 08:53 PM

yay for Guy being cast =)

Actually, Ciarin Hinds was already cast as Aberforth in DH.

David Yates said if Scrimgeour was cast it would be Bill Nighy, so I'm 99% sure that Nighy is playing Scrimgeour.

Mmm. Yes, casting is a tricky thing. You have to be diplomatic with information.

We don't know yet but I imagine she'll do it.

Good For Him for Getting The Part!

best deatheater 07-04-2009 12:33 AM

He looks great for the part, very menacing even though Pius doesn't know he does what he does. However, I always imagined Pius as a bit chubbier but I'm sure this guy will be good. He was brilliant in one of my fave films (V for Vendetta) as a government coverup specialist.

Taiya89 07-04-2009 12:59 AM

He totally looks the part!

PotterGirl714 07-04-2009 01:40 AM

Cool!

Ginny GL 07-04-2009 02:44 AM

had imagined the character a tad chubbier, but this guy looks great!!

fawks_4ever 07-04-2009 07:08 AM
