J.K. Rowling's second hand-written The Tales of Beedle the Bard auctioning for Lumos The second of seven rare copies of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, hand-written by author J.K. Rowling for those close to heart, will be auctioned off Sotheby's London in December, with some proceeds going to Lumos, and expected to bring in up to £500,000. The bejewelled copy was given to British publisher Barry Cunningham, who signed the rights to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone for Bloomsbury nearly 20 years ago, and launched the literary career of J.K. Rowling. Quote:
Cunningham's special edition has an inscription in it from Rowling (who approved of the Sotheby's auction), which said: “To Barry, the man who thought an overlong novel about a boy wizard in glasses might just sell … THANK YOU.” Cunningham had this to say about giving the book away: Quote:
