Post Harry Potter on Empire magazine's Greatest Characters list

We recently told you that Empire magazine were running a poll to determine the 100 Greatest Movie Characters of all time. The character of Harry Potter has come in at #36.

Quote:
"Expecto patronum!" Harry Potter

Played By: Daniel Radcliffe
Film: Harry Potter 1-6

Why He's On The List: Five films down, two (well, three) to go, but clearly Harry Potter has already made an impression with you lot. It's not hard to see why: as played by an increasingly convincing Daniel Radcliffe, Harry has morphed before our very eyes from wide-eyed child to embattled, moody teenager and yet managed to remain likeable and sympathetic.

Finest Hour: The last, freezeframed shot of …Prisoner Of Azkaban, as Harry flies, carefree and smiling, on the griffin Buckbeak.

My Cherie Amour

Oooh, i have so many picture perfect moments of Dan that I could choose from....he should be higher than 36 and I swear that is an unbiased opinion.

Never even heard of the character who's number one! And while I think some of the ordering is pretty messed up, if it was my list I probably wouldn't have put harry potter much higher...

Edit: WHOO! Aragorn at 31. should be higher! <3

There is no doubt that the Harry Potter series will be a classic that will be read for many generations. It may even be a required reading especially for kids who may not enjoy reading now, but will enjoy it as they get into the books. What do you guys think?

One of my son's friends told us a couple of years ago that reading was boring. I asked him did he like the Harry Potter films, he said yes, and when I told him they all started as books it completely changed his opinion of reading. So it's happening already! (Just borrowing my son's identity for a moment!)

Harry ♥ Ginny || Ron ♥ Mione - - Neville's Bravery || Luna's Laughter

That's nice, but he really should be up much higher. Time will tell.

Yes, someboby think that the films are better than books. But in statistics more people begin to read classics books after the have read HP. And the like reading.

Ultimate Potterite Original original

HP definitely deserves to be in the list. However, I do not think that the "finest moment" was at the end of PoA. In fact, I thought it was rather poorly done...

yeah, I was reading this and I was like wait...... first of all, the scene they are trying to describe is not at the end. Second, Buckbeak is a hippogriff, not a griffin. A griffin is bird and lion.

And he shouod have been much higher.

36 is pretty good, though I would've made harry potter be in my top 5.

And ... Buckbueak was a hippogriff, not a griffin.

On the Griffin Buckbeak? what the?????? You can certainly tell these people don't watch the movies.

I am, however, ridiculously thrilled to see that Roy Batty (Blade Runner), Boba Fett, Frank Drebin, Luke Skywalker, Quint (JAWS), Alex Delarge (Clockwork Orange), Aragorn, Gandalf, Tony Montana, Yoda, Gollum, & JOHN MCCLANE made the list.

And I am DOING CARTWHEELS over the fact that Hans Gruber is #17, James Bond is #11, and Darth Vader is #2. (Cause I nominated them!) But what in the name of all that's decent and holy is any character played by Brad Spitt doing at the top of the list?????

I'll put the character alone far higher. Add Dan, and we are much closer to the top.
