Half-Blood Prince receives PG-rating in US (UPDATED) Despite comments from the cast and crew that Half-Blood Prince would be the darkest of the films released, the Motion Picture Association of America has announced today that the sixth movie has received a PG rating in the US for "scary images, some violence, language and mild sensuality." Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be out July 17, 2009. UPDATE: Although IMAX was reporting that the film has a rating of PG-13, Warner Bros has confirmed to us that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has a PG rating. |
I expected a 12A, or whatever the US version of that is. They did all say how dark it was. Maybe it'll change |
i was expecting at least PG-13 from hearing how dark it was going to be. Wonder why they only rated it PG... |
Maybe its not as dark as they think. I mean the only really dark part is Dumbledore's death. |
Wasn't OOtP rated like....PG 13? I would think that HBP would be rated the same :xd: |
Wow, that is surprising when we consider the comments that "insiders" have made. I hope they did the battle scene justice. |
PG for language? In a Harry Potter movie? Now I'm intrigued. |
Only a PG rating? That's interesting.... |
GAH! this is killing me they are doing this on purpose to get us all riled up for the movie! :) and we have 7 whole more months! I want my HBP fix now! I think that OoTP got a Pg-13 rating because there was some PDA going on, then Umbridge torturing students and the whole snake slithering through the Ministry and the dementor attack in the beginning |
Woah are you serious?? Hmm...thats weird, I mean I would think this one would be darker that OotP and then theres Ron's little snogging sessions:lol: but hey we'll see:D |
oh no, i dont think this will be as dark as it should be. I think that the only reason it didnt get a much higher rating is because the filmmakers made it in a way so everyone can see it. And now that they are realising the movie in july, they will all smiling as they walk home from the bank. Sorry if it sounds mean, but i was hoping that they would be able to make it true to the books. And if the fans could read it without any trouble, and you can imagine the imagination we all have, then the movie wouldnt be as dark as the book i think. I just really really really hope we dont get dissapointed. If the sectumsempra scene isnt like it should be, im going to be royally *grr* |
if OotP was PG-13 youd think it would be the same for HBP, especially considering one very important character gets killed by another main character... guess its not as dark as they say. |
Intersting. |
I'm not sure if this is a good omen :/ But ah well, we'll see... |
Hmm, I would of thought it would of been rated PG-13 at least..but we'll have to see what this mean..I wonder if Canada will rate it differently than the states... |
Oh yeah and I forgot about the Sectumsepra scene..I was hoping that would have been as dark as they made it in the book...and the part in the cave where dumbledore basically has to torture himself...grr i hope they dont make it all happy just so that kids can see it:lol: sorry if that sounds mean =/ |

And apparently they cut that part out, no school battle or funeral... |
Weren't the last 2 films PG-13? I know GoF was. That is really strange. What about the cave scene? That has to be really creepy and scary to do justice to the book. |
*shocked at the PG rating* As long as it's a good movie :] |
And what about the inferi? How can you make them kid friendly? This is scaring me. |
That's weird. I expected a higher rating than that. A cousin of mine got really scared watching PoA, he was still pretty young then and he is still pretty young today, I wonder how he'll react if he watches HBP. |
Only PG? I was expecting PG13 at least... |
Hmmm.. I don't know if thats good, or bad... |
Man,they always say how dark it is....they need a new selling point!!:L Haha! |
I find that slightly humorous. |
