Half-Blood Prince nominated for SCREAM 2009 awards
 

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as well as stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint and other actors, has been nominated for this year's Spike TV SCREAM 2009 awards.

The film itself has received recognition in the Best Fantasy Film category, Best Sequel, Best Special Effects, and Holy [Crap] Scene of the Year for the opening Death Eater sequence involving the Millennium Bridge.

Dan is up for Best Actor in a Fantasy Film or TV Show; Emma is up for the same award, though in the actress category.

Evanna Lynch is up for Best Supporting Actress, while Rupert Grint has received a Best Supporting Actor nomination.

Helena Bonham Carter's turn as Bellatrix Lestrange got her a Best Villain acknowledgment, as well.

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 17 at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles; it will air on Spike TV ten days later, on Tuesday, October 27 (10:00 PM-Midnight, ET/PT).

We are currently unaware as to whether or not the stars will show up, though given filming and university schedules, it seems unlikely. However, we will update with more on anyone's attendance and the results, when when they are made available.

Quick update to those who saw the post when I initially posted it: I went through Spike's site and numerous others were nominated in addition to those mentioned in the press release, including Rupert, Evanna, and Helena (and several awards for the movie itself). It's all in the post, so get voting!

I just love that! And that scene was one of my favorites! I felt like a was flying with the Death Eaters! I get goosebumps during that scene! And then BAM! Right through a wall, and then BANG! ERRRPPPP! BOOM! SCREAM! SPLASH! Down goes the bridge! Yeah... Sorry, I get a little exited about that scene. It's just such a cool scene, a perfect beginning to get the watchers hooked and say "HOLY CRAP! WOW!!"

I voted Harry Potter for everything...HBP was an AMAZING movie and all the actors did a brilliant job. The only other movies I voted for were Wolverine and Star Trek. And True Blood got my vote in the tv categories.

But those are some weird nominations. I don't understand why twilight is nominated when it came out in 2008. that makes no sense at all. :(

I think the movies considered aren't all from 2009, but from around September 2008 - August 2009, given when the nominations are announced. Loads of awards shows do that, so that's why movies from 2008 like Twilight were considered this time around.

Why is Rupert in the supporting category and Emma in the lead? I feel like Rupert had more scenes than Emma. I also think that Bonnie should be there in the supporting... IMO she did more and grew as an actress more than Evanna. Not trying to hate on Evanna... I think she is a perfect Luna!

Because Emma's the lead actress. Regardless of their comparative screen time, Rupert is NOT the lead actor.

Despite her minimal screen time, I feel Evanna did a much better job than Bonnie.

The only thing that bugs me about Evanna is that she is Luna on and off camera. She is not really stretching her acting skills by doing these movies. And I know Bonnie has grown a lot from doing one or two lines per movie to being Harry's main love interest. I really think ootp made people think Harry and Luna would be together. If you haven't read the books you wouldn't think Ginny and Harry would end up together.

I just think that the lack of originality from book to movie Ginny left a few people cold... but Bonnie's performance was imo great, given the material she was given. Bonnie SHOULD be nominated instead of or along with Evanna.

tom probably didnt get nominated cause no one really see's his great acting in the films unfortuantly.

Me too. He'd fit the villain category better than Helena.

She used to be but lately she's taken to distancing herself from the character. So where that might've been true during OotP, I don't think the same can be said for HBP.

There were plenty of people who got that impression with the books, too.

She wouldn't because Emma IS the lead female in HP.
