| | | Deathly Hallows: Part 2 highest-grossing film of 2011 in international markets
Bringing in a total of $1.038 billion as of August 3, 2011, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is now the highest-grossing film of 2011 in international markets, surpassing May's release of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The finale of the Harry Potter film saga is currently the second-highest grossing film of 2011 in the domestic box office, behind Transformers: Dark of the Moon, having made $325.1 million in the United States and Canada by Wednesday's end.
The numbers will thus increase noticeably by this week, as Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is set to be released in one of the biggest international markets, China, in conventional theatres and IMAX 3D, beginning Thursday. Quote:
IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2: An IMAX 3D Experience, the final installment of the blockbuster film series based on the beloved books by J.K. Rowling, will be released nationwide in China, including on 26 IMAX screens, day-and-date on Thursday, August 4.
IMAX 3D shows in major Chinese markets like Beijing already sold out, where tickets cost as much as 140 yuan (21.7 U.S.dollars). We will have much more on the Harry Potter finale's record-breaking run in the box office, including if and when it becomes the highest-grossing film of 2011 in domestic markets. |

This is great, and according to wikipedia DH pt 2 is now the 6th highes crossing movie world wide of all time, having surpassed TDK, Transformers 3, Alice in Wonderland and PotC4, next to beat is Toy Story 3 which is closely followed by PotC2, then it's bit of a leap up until RotK but it's more then possible if it continues like this that it might pass that one too, and possibly Titanic though it's still pretty long way to go until that's possible, but it could very well reach the 3rd spot which is really impressive (and being a bit biased, also very well deserved), congrats to the people who have worked on the movie, they are definatly going to go out with a bang.

In Wikipedia, HPDH2 is 6th on the list... needs to double its money to beat Avatar :S BUT it's higher than Transformers. I can't believe it's not higher! GET UP THERE, you were the best movie, and most deserving!!

I agree with Jen! But I think it will break all worldwide records, what with it opening in China ..
