Daniel Radcliffe talks possible nude scene in Kill Your Darlings, Rupert Grint
 

Daniel Radcliffe made a surprise appearance at a fan screening of The Woman in Black in New York City earlier this evening. Photos of Dan standing before a poster of the film in the Lincoln Center theater lobby can be seen below.

Dan had a rather revealing interview with Heat magazine, stating that during the shooting of the final three Harry Potter films, Half-Blood Prince and both Deathly Hallows installments, his alcoholism was so profound that it was practically visible on the big screen.

The former Harry Potter actor confessed that there may be a nude scene in his future in the upcoming production of Kill Your Darlings, in which he will portray famous beat poet Allen Ginsberg.

And for those wary of the comment Dan made earlier this month about his relationship with Rupert Grint, he had a lot more flattering words to say about his former costar and friend in the Heat interview, as well. Dan confessed at the Toronto premiere of The Woman in Black last week that although it was true he and Rupert never texted and rarely saw each other, it made no difference to their friendship and whenever they saw each other it was as though nothing had changed between them. Daniel Radcliffe: Unfortunately it’s not that simple. I have a very addictive personality. It was a problem.

Really? There were never any stories of you going on wild benders…
Daniel: People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don’t want to go into details but I drank a lot and it was daily - I mean nightly. I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work.

You mean Harry Potter had a hangover?!
Daniel: I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes.

“I’ve just been having a discussion with the guy who’s directing my new project. It might have a bit of nudity, and he said, ‘Just to let you know, if you’re getting naked, no landscaping of any kind. This is the 40s and you’re playing a Jew.’”

Radcliffe said he has no qualms about screen nudity. He added “I’m comfortable with my body.”

He said: "I'm not going to try to compete with Rupert on the arms front. His dad is a big guy, so if anyone was going to get the proper muscleman build, it was Rupert.

"You'd have to search pretty hard to find a more handsome ginger. He's also a dude. I wish I could be that calm. I'm lucky to have found an industry where this level of hyperactivity is encouraged. Otherwise I'd just be a nuisance!"

Surprise! I wish I was there. Even I have friends that I don't see often but when we get together it is like no time has passed at all. The press is always trying to make something out of nothing.

so does that mean when he takes that felix potion him pretending 2 be drink or w/e maybe he wasnt pretending. Seriously, dan can u point out which scenes that your talkin bout?

thats how me and my bff are. we rarely talk (shes away at college), but when we get together its like nothings changed...so i can relate

I'm not trying to make fun of Dan but there were times when I would joke to my friends that something about his expressions seemed dead to me and maybe he was out of it. Of course I didn't know he really was out of it back then, but I always did notice something about his eyes, his facial expressions lacking the proper depth of emotion in the later films. I can't explain it but I saw it there. Sad really to hear this once again, but I'm glad that he took care of his problems before they sprialed out of control. Not many people can do that, especially at that age.

And just as Dan was starting to finally look appealing to me, he had to grow that darn beard. Dan, I like you clean-shaven! :P

^i always thought it was just a weakness of his acting that he a struggled with, range of emotion. Crazy.

and im glad about the stuff he said about rupert, i figured it was a bit blown up.

I don't think so. I mean he had to hit that scene point on to create the right amount of dramatic effect mixed with hilarity so I think he knew what he was doing. Anyways, I don't care if he was pretending or not. He was freaking hilarious in that scene no matter what! :rotfl: "Not to mention the pinchers...tsk, tsk!" :xd:

I assumed that as well. I thought after years of being able to properly act sad, scared etc, in the earlier films, this was what he meant when he had said he had gotten into more serious acting. :lol: I wanted to say, "I'm no actress but I don't think that is how you react to something like that." :xd:

I think he just didn't have the time to shave because of all the publicity he's doing...but yes, I prefer him clean-shaven too!

Lucky New Yorkers who got to see him! (I don't know if he'll do anything special like that for the LA premiere.) And about that interview...I had to choke at the mention of the nude scene. It's more of the fact that he just put it out there so bluntly... :blink:

I have a feeling we're going to see a whole new side of Dan in the upcoming years. :lol:

I think Dan's going to try and be different from moving on from Potter.

Well he's already been naked on stage, I'm sure being naked on the set of a film may be slightly less nerve wracking, haha!

Reading the rest of that interview about him being comfortable with nudity made me giggle out loud, he is just so blunt and there was a bit of TMI, I couldn't stop giggling!

I think its a little odd he's being so honest about everything but I feel like he's kinda been like that as he's matured.

I already saw Equus back in 2007 when he was naked. So i wouldn't mind seeing him again ;D. But he is a very intelligent guy for a 20 year old. He is very smart and for not even going to college. Daniel is going to have a great life in the road ahead :D

When I first heard about it i was suprised, but you can understand him. Way to go Dan, glad your back on track.

It's quite pathetic that there wasn't intervention way sooner. If it started in HBP and spilled into DH. You can't tell me that a director and co-workers wouldn't notice their lead was messed up. I am surprised, that it sadly didn't come down to money, a multi million dollar movie franchise and a very highly paid boy on the verge of screwing everything up. He still so young, and back then, younger still. Where were the grown-ups?

I have to admit I'm slightly disappointed in that. He played a character we all love and he didn't show up to work with his whole head in the game.....just my thoughts.

Ok so I am going to re-watch these 3 films for the millionth time and really pay attention.
