In a new public statement, actor Daniel Radcliffe lamented the loss of several gay youths who took their own lives as a result of the stress and harassment they felt growing up. Dan, a spokesperson for The Trevor Project, a 24-hour hotline dedicated to assisting LGBTQ teens in crisis, had this to say. Quote:
"Learning about the suicide deaths of Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh, Asher Walker, Billy Lucas and Justin Aaberg has been heartbreaking for me. These young people were bullied and tormented by people that should have been their friends," Radcliffe said. "We have a responsibility to be better to each other, and accept each others' differences regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ability, or religion and stand up for someone when they're bullied."
"When a friend is feeling depressed or says they're thinking of killing themselves, we must take it seriously and get them help," Radcliffe continued.
"My deepest sympathies go out to the families and friends of these excellent young people. And to all the young people who are being bullied right now, you are not alone. Call the Trevor Lifeline at 866 4-U-TREVOR, because there's always someone there who will listen and who can help."

I've been bullied for ever, for being the big girl and for LGBTQ issues - and to be fair, any kind of bullying is ridiculous and should be stopped. Love it what allows us to get through the day, so why can't be love who ever will help us get through the troubles and toils of the day?

Anyone who bullies others because they are different in any way are very insecure, pathetic people indeed. Those who shot the video of Clementi and posted it.....well, they have to live with the fact that their act of stupidity and meanness caused someone to kill themselves....they will never have untroubled thoughts....

I am really glad that Dan supports an organization like this one. I work with some Jr. high school students now, in Japan, who are wrist cutters or worse and hearing about programs like this and people out there really wanting to reach out to youth in need is really great.

Bullies are the ones with the problem. Nobody should have to put up with nasty people who haven't figured themselves out yet so they take it out on others. That should never have to happen. I was bullied in primary school and was bothered by it, boys in my year and class did it. Now I'm kinda picked on because I know alot of answers but this cause isn't as bad because I know they are just jealous. They are all stupid so it doesn't bother me. Dan is a great idol and bullies and the people being bullied should listen to him and look up to him.
