Ballet Shoes to have limited U.S. theatrical release
 

Home Media Magazine is reporting that Emma Watson's film Ballet Shoes (which was aired on the BBC this past Christmas), will be released in 171 U.S. theatres for a limited time - a week - starting August 26th, before it is available for purchase on DVD September 2nd (the DVD's extras will include bonus features and a new interview with Emma).

The trailer for the film will be released in theatres beginning on August 1st; and the theatrical poster will be out three days after the trailer, on Monday, August 4th, 2008.

Sounds nice. But one week is such a short time, but at least the film will come out not long after it hits theatres.

It'll probably will be out longer than a week, it really didn't say other than it being out a week before dvd release. But it costs money to release a movie in theaters so they will want to get some profit. That being said December Boys only lasted about 3 weeks before being pulled from most theaters. And that movie had a premier and Dan did a promotion in the States. So who knows how long it'll be out without all of that.

Considering the very limited release, I'd say it's more about publicity than money.
