Fourth Level Corridor Outside the offices of hardworking Creatures personnel is the forth level corridor. Upon closer inspection, some interesting aspects can be noted such as the terrarium. So, go ahead, go for a stroll. OOC: All Ministry of Magic employees, regardless of their assigned department, are welcome to create their own roleplay in this thread. |
He walked hurriedly along the corridor carrying with him a neat stack of folders. It was time to make his rounds to the different departments. A quill floated behind him drifting at a slower rate than he charmed it to and drip-dropped perfectly timed droplets of black ink. Claudian stopped. He heard the droplets fall and land onto the new corridor carpets with a soft tapping. Sweat. Claudian turned around and plucked the writing instrument out of the air as though it were a flower and stared disappointingly at it's leaky nib. Busted! Merlin! He looked around to see if anyone was near enough to see the mess and whipped out his wand. |
Quote:
She glanced up just in time to see a slightly unfamiliar man holding his wand towards a piece of the carpet near his feet. She tried to see what he was aiming at---if anything---but she was just too far away to tell. "Hi," she called out, approaching him with a smile on her face. When she was close enough, she saw that he was cleaning up a few spots of ink that had spilled onto the carpet. "The joy of magic, hmm? I bet a muggle couldn't have gotten off that easily." She gave him a playful expression to let him know she spoke in a lighthearted manner. "Oh, listen to me! I'm carrying on without having ever introduced myself. I'm Alexandra Carlton, the new Senior Undersecretary," she said. She'd extend her hand for a shake, but the man was slightly busy aiming his wand towards the ink spill. |
Nessa walked along the corridor, having come from the level four offices. Wow, big mess in there, that's for sure. And something weird was going on between that one guy and the poltergeist. Ummm.... strange, on many levels. Well in any case, corridors were nice. They were long, and generally gave you time to think (unless you happened to be walking with someone). Oh yeah, and they led you places. It was fun to walk down them when you had absolutely no idea where they went. Like this one, Nessa had absolutely no idea where it went. But then again, that was all the fun of a hallway. |
Anna, Luna <3's Quote:
Claudian turned in time to hear a witch enter the corridor and he sent his wand wibble-wobbling in the middle of a semi-startled toss. He caught it mid-air and re-aimed it at the trail of spots on the ground. "Hello." He turned and smiled towards her before turning back to his mess, shaking his head for the apparent sloppiness and tergeo'ing the inky blotts that had followed him to the corridor. "You'd think I was a muggle child trying to escape from a witch's candied home. Honestly, I don't know how they function without so much as a single cleaning charm. Must've grabbed the wrong quill." He held the quill, nib-side-up and tried a repairing charm on it. "Just don't tell th..." Senior Undersecretary??? Uhm, Whoops. Yea, wouldn't want her to think that I was a careless, sloppy, liar or anything. With his wand, he got the last of the ink spots, gave Miss Carlton a slightly embarrassed grin and took her hand into his for a handshake. "It's nice to meet you, Miss Carlton. I'm Claudian Slughorn, Minister Taylor's assistant. Welcome to the Ministry." The magic of first impressions was clearly at work here. He continued to smile and tried not to look unprofessional in front of the new face that had just joined them. |
Nessa saw the man smile in her direction. Or at least it looked like it was in her direction. Huh. Whatever. She smiled and waved awkwardly. Wow.... wow. Oh yeah, cuz people like Nessa just happen to be awesome at talking to people. Say something stupid! the little voice inside her head said. Yeah but they're talking!! she yelled back. Sooooo?! it challenged. Shut up. She waved awkwardly again, at a loss for something to say/do/be silent. Yeah well hun, you're gonna be upset to know that I'm you. Nessa's voice thought back. ...I. Don't. Care. Shut. Up!! and then the voice stopped........ Hi there!!....Oh my gosh!!! Leeeeeeeave!! and it did. |

She laughed lightheartedly at the way he described the whole muggle child situation. Her eyes narrowed in confusion when he asked not to tell the... "Not to tell the---what?" she asked. She never figured out the second half of his sentence, for he'd abruptly stopped and moved on to some other topic of conversation. She left the matter to be and returned his handshake. "Oh...dear Merlin! Junior Assistant, hmm? How odd that you and I randomly meet on a floor other than our own," she said, with a laugh. "I haven't had the opportunity to make the rounds with introductions yet---as you can clearly tell, I assume." At least she could be sure of one thing---the only other level one employee besides she and Minister Taylor seemed to a kind, welcoming man. It relieved her to realize she'd more than likely always get along with this man. |
Rinatta walked into the corridorand looked around ,there were a few people futher away. Luckily they were in the opposite direction that they needed to go and the poltergist seemed to be behaving herself. Oh spoke too soon Nessa was close and the poltergist didn't seem to like her. Well hopefully she would behave and leave the young woman alone for now. After all, she and the young wizards seemed quite peaceful at the moment. Stepping out into the corridor she looked back and gave a warm and reassuring smile to the oddly matched pair. She stood just a little way from the door, giving them room and waited patiently for the two to follow her. |
Following the woman that had offered to help him out and lead Polty to a 'fun place', Torio couldn't help but bear an excited glint in his eye as he peered about the corridor. Much like a child on a treasure hunt, he hadn't been able to keep himself from guessing where it was the woman was taking them. Polty and him had been up and down all levels of the ministry a few times on their exhausting game of tag, and if anything besides good excercise, it had served as a decent tour of the place. Smiling at the woman as they stepped into the corridor, Torio paused in step and held out his free hand. "I...don't believe we've been introduced. Torio Ebisu." |
Polty followed Torio out into the corridor calm and humming, but her eyes bore a similar look to his. Her's held potential mischief though ,unlike Torio's. The two made an interesting looking pair. She seemed content to look around until her playmate pausedand held out his hand. Polty at first, stopped humming and made a face at the woman. The woman, didn't seem to be afraid of her and didn't make any threatening movements, so she eased again. She resumed humming and held out her hand like her playmate did. ------------------------------------------------------ Rinatta kept herself smiling calmly as she watched the pair emerge. The young wizard bore an adorable glint in his eye. It was one she knew well, she bore it often but only a few years back. She couldn't help but smile more. The young man extended his hand to introduce himself and she gave a polite nod. Before she took his hand she watched Polty for acceptance though, she didn't like the sensation of a large book to her head. " I don't believe we have had the time." she said with a warm smile. Polty gave her a strange look, but then seemed to be okay with the idea so Rin took his hand. "Rinatta Cross ,at your service." she said in a pleasant tone. She was a bit surprised as the poltergist put her hand in front of Rin's face as well. She smiled and took it giving her the same shake as Torio. "You may call me Rin if you like." |
Nessa spotted the weird one and his poltergeist. oh boy. she thought. Wait! But there was, someone else? Hmmmm. Probobly one of the others from the office. She might've been the lady that spilled her cup of coffee. Ah, well, might be a good idea to keep a safe distance..... With that in mind, Nessa set off towards somewhere... away from the little demon. *shudder* Yeah, she was supposed to be a care of magical creatures worker but poltergeists were.... odd. |

Next post at the closet.;) Quote:
------------------------------------------------------ The poltergist remained calm looking around the corridor. She made a weird hiss like sound when she saw Nessa....what she had against her was anyone's guess. She made an eerie giggle when he woman's cheeks began to blush. Her look matched that of her playmate and with him she followed the woman towards the closet. When they stopped she was completely quiet, just staring at it. |
Quote:
It was when they stopped in front of the coat closet and Polty went silent that he looked up at her with concern. In the time they had spent together, he had never heard her so silent, seen her so still. His defenses instantly snapped up, and his eyes flicked to Rinatta. What exactly was this 'fun' place? |
Quote:
Quote:
"You've been here a while though, aye? Have you meet Mr. Trumbull and Miss McArdle? She's head of Education." He turned his attention for the moment towards the young lady who just entered the corridor. "Hello, there. New to the Ministry?" H'mm. Maybe they could help her get acquainted. |
Quote:
She shrugged a little when he asked if she'd been around a while. "Not too long, actually. I've only met....one, two...erm, two departments heads," she admitted, slightly blushing as she talked. "That's not a whole lot, is it? I'm making the rounds, though." She thought about a Trumbull and a McArdle then shook her head. "No, I don't believe I've met Trumbull and McArdle. Perhaps you could introduce me?" |

Alexandra grew quiet as she listened to Nessa talk with Claudian. It was during her time of silence when she happened to notice the time. "Oh, Merlin!" she exclaimed, her eyes growing wide at the possibility of being late for her next meeting. "Oh, Nessa, Claudian, I'm terribly sorry, but I have a meeting in...ohh, one minute." With a worried expression on her face, she turned and click-clacked down the corridor in the opposite direction. "You two have a nice day...hopefully we can talk again soon!" A few seconds later, she'd turned the corner and disappeared from sight. |
Nessa noticed the Under Secretary prepare leave in a hurry. She nodded in understanding when she said she had a meeting to go to. "That's quite alright, I hope to see you again Miss Carlton." and then the Under Secretary was gone and she was left with the other man.... fidget. |
Quote:
Claudian smiled and noted the new Senior-Undersecretary's name. Alexandra. That should be easy enough to remember as it was very similar to Miss McArdle's. Quote:
Claudian extended his large hand out and shook Nessa's. "It's nice to meet you, Nessa. I'm Claudian Slughorn. I work in the Minister's office, but I'm sure if you heard me speaking to the Miss Carlton a moment ago, you already know. Oh! That was the Senior-Undersecretary, by the way...which you may have also heard." That was a bit awkward, but he was happy to at least be meeting someone new. "So, how are you liking your first year at the Ministry?" Quote:
Meeting? A look of momentary panic spread across Claudian's face. Was he supposed to be at that meeting also? "See you later, Alexandra." He searched his memory for any indication that he may have been asked to join a meeting this week, but didn't recall anything. |
Quote:
Nessa smiled. "It's nice to meet you Claudian." wow, he worked for in the minister's office. Woah. He seemed nice. "I've liked my first year here, some crazy stuff goes on in my department. The first bit of the year was fairly quiet though." *shudder* poltergeist. Stupid thing bit her ankels. Remembering the incident, she looked down at them. They were still slightly red from the blood, though a few of the bite marks were begining to scab over. Note to self: remember to find band-aids. |
Quote:
"Likewise." He smiled at the nice to meet you comment. He nodded at her comments about how crazy working for the ministry could get. He'd had his fair share already, though it was comparatively quiet in the Ministers office when compared to other departments he'd visited. Miss McArdles office alone was a party at any given time of the day. He looked down when Nessa did and saw that she was looking at her own feet. 'Odd.' he thought before he realized that they appeared to be injured. A look of concern crossed his face as he pushed his spectacles further up the bridge of his nose. "Are you alright? Have you tried 'Episkey' on it yet?" |

One of his brows raised, while the other remained stationary and a smile most curious crept onto his face. He was filled with a sort of giddy, nervous fascination at Nessa's explanation. Having a pure-blood status, he too found certain aspects of muggle culture fascinating, but he did not recognize his own interest with it yet for what it was. "That would make sense. They often opt to do things the harder way." He looked up at the corridor wall-clock. He'd spent the majority of his break chatting away and had forgotten to grab a snack. "I should get back to the Ministers office, Nessa. It was very nice meeting you." He smiled warmly, meaning that sincerely as he cherished his friendships. "Do be careful of infections. I heard those are common amongst muggle injuries." He gave her one last smile and headed back towards Level one. |
Nessa nodded. "Ah, yes yes of course." It would not do to get an infection. Bad things. Of course, if she did, then she'd be allowed to use magic surely? Well, she would. There was nothing wrong with using magic to clear up an infection. For the time being, she ought to go find some band-aids. Perhaps there was a muggle store nearby that sold them? Hadn't she seen one on her way in? Hmm... I'll go take a look. she decided. Watching Claudian walk off, Nessa decided it would be best if she got going. There was probobly some strange process she needed to go through in order to apply the medical equipment in addition to actually finding one. Hmm, well, two mabey, one for each ankle. With that in mind, she set off in search of a 'band-aid'. |
A break. She needed...a definite break. However much she loved animals and helping out as much as she could, everyone needed a break once in awhile. Which was why she was standing in the almost empty corridor where it was actually somewhat quiet. Except for the few ghosts and little creatures that ran around. They didn't bother her much though. Taking a deep breathe, Lilah leaned against the wall, closing her icy blue eyes and just took a few moments for herself. |

romantic distress? hehe Quote:
Opening her eyes, she looked around, maybe hoping to spot somebody walking by with some, or...some would just automatically appeared, but alas. Nothing. Just a few animals and, a man staring at her. Did she step in something? Leaned against something that wasn't supposed to be? Checking everywhere, she didn't find anything out of the ordinary. "Hello." she said uncertainly, waving at he man before smiling. Maybe she had something on her face... |
Quote:
He gave a twich of a smile. He hoped she thought he wasn't staring at her. "Sorry for not formally introducing myself," He said, taking out his hand. "My name's Dominic Everdeen. What's yours?" |
Quote:
"Lilah Burwell." she said, reaching out to shake his hand. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Everdeen. Forgive me for asking though. I'm still a little new around here and haven't gotten the chance to explore as of yet, but level eight...that is the..." What, level? |

Quote:
Giggling slightly, she looked around, noticing the slight mess of the corridor. "Well, you just so happened to stumble upon the Magical Creatures level." The best level EVER of course! "I work in the Werewolf Registry and Capture Unit. Thankfully there hasn't been that much work lately." Well, that was a good and bad thing. Less work, is bad. But it was also good since no one really needed to be registered...or captured for that matter. However, Lilah just couldn't resist asking! "So what's it like?" she asked, standing up straight with a slight bounce in her step. "Working in law enforcement?" |
Quote:
|
Quote:
"Well, yes, they are people just like you and me." she nodded, but frowned slightly. "Sometimes though, they don't really enjoy the fact that they need to be registered so, there could be a few dangerous temper tantrums every now and then. Especially if one is registering close to a full moon." Granted, she hadn't been the victim of one of those outbreaks, but she definitely heard them going on. |
Quote:
"Whoa, you must be really tough then," He said, eye's getting bigger. "I know they are regular men that have an unlucky fate, but it kind of creeps me out." He shuddered. Just thinking about hadling full grown men and seeing them go through pain.. "We have to deal with all of the criminals. I wanted to work in the department of mysteries, but.." He trailed off. Her blue eyes were just hard to miss. He shook it off, not wanting to creep her out. He guessed she wasn't somene who was really interested in him. His blonde hair fluttered onto his face, and he continuosly brushed it off, getting embarassed. |
Quote:
"It is kinda creepy isn't it." Just like ghosts. Those were creepy as well. Especially when some pretend to drink something. "Department of Mysteries?" Wasn't that where Ryan worked? Yes, she thought it was. She hadn't seen him in awhile since she had been busy with other things, thank Merlin for that, but than again, that was such a bad thing. She hadn't been keeping tabs on him or anything! Her plan...was going down in the dumps! And she feared she may have let down... No. No time to get all emotional right now. "What is in the Department of Mysteries anyway? It's just so...mysterious." Yea, fail of words at the moment. That's what she gets for listening to that kneazle meow for hours on end. Watching him continuously move his blond hair away from his face, Lilah held in another giggle. That would be...highly inappropriate. Giggling. Pssh. |
Quote:
He finally got that annoying little strand of hair out of his face, so he started focusing on Lilah. It was hard focusing on her, so he tried looking at his feet again. Nothing was working! This was not how he had planned! Wait, he planned this? He looked into her face again and gave a half smile. "Yep, I guess nobody knows except if you work there, unless your really adventurous and you sneak in, or your date works there and tells you all about it.." He trailed off, realizing she was holding back a giggle. Agh! What was he doing wrong? He had never been good around women, not even his own mother- ok, scratch that- Dominic was frusturated because he wanted to impress Lilah, yes, that was it, it's the only way.. The blushing, staring at his feet, and looking into those bright blue eyes. Yep, he needed to change the subject. "Um, what do you like to do?" He asked. "I'm not really a sports guy, I like to read books. I keep my kids well involved, you know, sports, gymnastics." He said. |
Quote:
What...did she like to do? The abrupt change in subject did slightly confuse her, however she decided to not pay much attention to it. Innocent question right? Listening to him name off some things he himself liked to do, a small smile crept onto her lips when he mentioned kids. "You are married?" she asked, a hint of jealousy in her voice, but nothing all that detectable. "Well, personally, I can do without sports. I only really pay attention to quidditch when a certain team is playing." And hopefully she didn't make a huge fool of herself at the World Cup. Even though she missed it, she still knew who won! That was enough to celebrate. "And...I love to read too, actually. Though, it's more studying than anything? Trying to learn as much as I can on creatures, both magical and not. I can't imagine a life without them." Just look at her house. It was starting to look like a zoo now. "Apart from that though...I'm a big fan of gardening. And...I think I actually might be getting the hang of it. One of my flowers actually lasted a full month." she laughed, shaking her head slightly. It was better than the few days her flowers usually lasted. |

On a lighter note however, the talk of his daughter having a greenhouse in their backyard did put a small smile back onto her face. "Sounds like she's really serious about it. Could probably give me a few pointers." she with a light laugh. "How old is she?" Noticing him taking off his jacket, her expression turned to one of confusion for a moment. Why would he take it off? It was cold in the corridor! That is, until she realized he was offering it to her. To her? She, had been trying to get her arms warmed up. Would it be alright if she accepted it? That wouldn't be weird right? People did that for others. "Thank you." she said quietly, taking the jacket and wrapping it around her shoulders and arms. Soooo much better. |
Quote:
"So you like gardening, I know there must be something else." He said, glancing at the clock on the wall. Break was almost over. |
Quote:
Snuggling herself into the jacket, she didn't miss the glance at the clock the man made though, and even took a little peak herself. Oops! She was supposed to be back inside two minutes ago! But... "I'm a beach kind of person." she confessed, not really knowing why she was saying all this to him. "But, since I've moved here, I haven't really been able to travel and visit one, so I've settled on parks. They have a peculiar way of calming one down that I haven't realized before until now. I mostly find myself wandering around there...or the bookshop across the street from the Ministry which has fulfilled my appetite of reading books. " Smiling, she glanced at the clock once more before taking off the jacket and handing it to him. "I think I'm out of time right now, but perhaps I'll see you around either of those during a weekend or something?" hehe |
Quote:
|
Quote:
However, she didn't know where. She had already suggested the park or bookshop, neither which he would be interested in probably. Seriously, what person who works in Law Enforcement would want to meet at a bookshop? |

Erin! <333 It was busy days like this that made Armen wish there were mini-cafeterias on each floor. Technically there were Breakrooms spaced out amongst the various levels of the Ministry building, but the Department Head hadn't brought anythign from home so if he chose that option he would be eating someone else's food. So chosing the path that didn't involve common lunch theft, Armen made his way down the corridor on Level Four, his mission the Ministry-wide Cafeteria. He hadn't been on this floor that often since the remodel as was a bit worried he would get lost. There were so many doors leading off of the main hall and why were there no signs pointing to the food?! Ok he was lost now. Someone help! |
Quote:
"Hey, what's up?" he called out to the man as he approached. He kind of stopped beside the dude and began to peer around as he was. He wondered what his take on interns was. |
For Shann <33 Erica had decided it was time for a break. Her employees were working well and quite frankly she needed some time out of that office to reflect on what she had been doing. So the Magical Creatures Head, walked out of her oak door and began wondering the fourth floor, walking straight down the middle of the corridor. There wasn't a lot exactly to see, mostly just walls and...more walls. But it was still pleasant to explore for a little while. She probably wouldn't get the opportunity to later. The Blonde 31 year old, stopped momentarily at the end of the stretch. She wasn't entirely familiar with this place considering her previosu careers had all been within other Countries and their Ministry's or actually out with Magical Creatures. Left or Right? |
Quote:
Hands hastily holding her bag and a cup of hot chocolate, Tatelyn wandered, and wandered, and wandered. Down. The. Corri--PERSON! "Excuuuuuse meeeee? Excuuuusee meee, lovely?" Help? Please? She called for the person walking towards her, and quickened her pace just a little bit, to catch them. She. Knew. This. Person. She did. SHE DID. "Erica Radley? What the bloomin' heck you doing here?" Last she had heard, Erica had been off doing something with something else. Not here. Wow. |
Well what was this way then? Erica looked down the left exit, wandering what else was on the level she worked upon. Okay so her visits to the Ministry had been limited. Though this place was amazing and she felt honoured to be working here, let alone run a whole department by herself. She wandered along, alone, there seemed to be no one else out here, it was quiet. Kind o peaceful if you thought about.... Her head snapped up as she heard a voice calling out. Well if they were lost there was NO way she could exactly help them. She'd end up getting lost herself. But the thirty year old one smiled anyway, but it wasn't until she had got closer that she truly recognised who it was. "Tatelyn?" the woman blinked a few times. Goodness she hadn't seen her in years. This was so strange. Back in their school days, both had been Hufflepuff girls, both in the same year. "I got a job here, as the Department Head for Magical Creatures" she informed her. "What about you?" she asked. Hadn't she been abroad for some time? At least that was what she had heard. |
Quote:
As if getting lost wasn't bad enough, she was stuck... WITHOUT HER WAND TOO! Oh, Merlin. It wasn't her fault exactly. She'd just needed to run to get a coffee, and had decided she didn't necessarily need her wand. Now, perhaps this person was EVIL?! Her karate skills wouldn't do much for her if they were wanded. MEEEEP. "Tate. It's Tate, more now. I suppose I outgrew Tatelyn again." Like she had when she first moved to the UK with her father. She had again now. It was normal, wasn't it? She supposed it was. Supposed it was, incredibly. Ah, Magical Creatures. Tate knew Erica had enjoyed that part of their education. More loved than enjoyed. The woman nodded with a smile, and chuckled. "Just got a job as Department Head for Magical Education." So, they were both Department Head's, wasn't that just... ironic, in a way. "Well I didn't think I'd be seeing you here..." Nope. Not ever. |
Erica couldn't help but grin. It was so strange seeing someone you hadn't seen in quite some time suddenly stood in front of you. It had been years... Maybe even a decade. Both of the woman had to be 31 now and to not have seen each other since their Hogwarts days, it was so unexpected to suddenly meet each other now. "Oh I'm sorry" the Blonde woman winked and laughed to herself. "I thought you might have wanted some kind of formal address or something along those lines" she was joking, but it was true. Some people preferred to keep full names once they had aged slightly. And especially regarding that they were in the Ministry now, most people had called her Miss Radley when she first met them in her office, which felt strange for the thirty-one year old seeing as she had never been called that on her previous jobs. Erica was her name and that was what she would stick to. "Well isn't that ironic?" she asked, her pearly whites shining through her permanent smile. "So we should expect to see a lot more of each other then?" she asked, and that was a good thing, they needed a good catch up, Hufflepuffs always stuck together right? |
Quote:
The brunette laughed lightly, and nodded. "Now, was formality ever my strong point, Ms. Radley?" Along with her words, she adopted a posh accent, and burst into a fit of giggles as she ended. Sure, she was mature when she wasn't with someone she knew. Heh. A nod came with her head, and Tate smiled again. "Very." Very ironic, that was. Completely utterly ironic, actually. "I suppose it does, Eri. -- Erica. Sorry." What had posessed Tatelyn to called Erica 'Eri', she couldn't quite pinpoint. She knew she'd called her it sometimes in school. But... now?! |
Drago led the woman out to the corridor, continuing in a polite manner. "So, my dear, what brings you to the Ministry?" |
Quote:
Quote:
Iris turned to look up at Drago, and gave him a smile, she liked this kid too. He was polite and respectful towards his elders! "Well, I decided I needed to get out and do something with the rest of my life." Iris started. "I was hesitant to come to the Ministry." Iris told Drago carefully, "I've never worked a day in my seventy two years of life." She stated nodding her head. Iris wanted a change of subject, she didn't want to answer anymore questions, she wanted to be the one asking questions. "I didn't catch her name, back there. What was it?" Iris stated, "What a nice woman, I really do want to have coffee with her." Iris rambled. |
"Drago is a traditional Italian name. It's more fitting in that context. But no, around here it is rather unusual, as foreign names often are." "Her name is Erica Radley, I believe. She is the new head of our department. She's a very nice young lady. Orderly, organized, mind incredibly on her work. But not quite 'all work no play.' Rather impressive. She also has a true passion for magical creatures, which is more than I can say about myself. However, the Ministry does not have a department for magical flora." He gave her a bit of a playful smile. |
Quote:
"Erin...Got it." Iris said nodding her head a couple of times, though she'd forget it in mere minutes. "Yes, she seems to have a very leveled head on her shoulders." Iris agreed. "You know Drake, Erin reminds me of a neighbor I once had when I lived in Scotland. Though she was very nosy, she did work very hard at her job, even for a Muggle I give her props for how hard she worked. I never could understand her field of profession, something to do with the teeth, and putting metal on them to supposedly fix them. Though I think they'd mess them up, I mean who puts metal on teeth?!" Iris rambled, almost beginning to confuse herself. |
"Dentist, I believe you are talking about, though I may be mistaken. There are a few professions muggles have regarding teeth. I do not think I would participate in muggle dentistry, they..." He paused in his speech momentarily to gather the thought. "Muggles do the best they can with what they have. They do not have magic or potions, technically, to be able to do what we do. We can fix a good many things, almost instinctively. But muggles do not have that ability. It pushes them to find alternate methods. They use science and technology instead. And with it, they have done many things." It was still hard for him to say. Muggles were not his favorite, thanks to his past, but through Slade he had learned quite a bit more about them, and he had to admit he was impressed. Then in being in the encampment, he learned just how much they could do. "Imagine... they cannot portkey, or apparate, or floo. So they build machines which depend on ignitable fluids to cause a small explosion within something called an 'engine' in order to get around. Motorcycles, automobiles... aeroplanes." |
Quote:
Iris looked around as they walked, blocking out most of Drakes mumbo jumbo about muggles. She had dealt enough with them in the last few years, she didn't want to talk about them when she was supposed to be working on her first day at work. "Are we getting close?" She asked, looking up at Drake. She squeezed his arm slightly and stopped. "Sorry, can't do too much walking or my joints tense up something bad." She explained. "Tell me, how long have you been here?" She asked as she started walking again, still holding on to Drake's arm. "You seem a bit young to me, did you come to the Ministry right out of school?" She questioned. "Can you believe I've never worked a day in my life?" She asked him. "I only came out to try it because I was getting vastly bored sitting at home all day every day doing the same thing over and over and over again." Iris explained to him. "I've got enough money to last me fie lifetimes, so it's not the money." She told him making sure he knew she wasn't in need of any money. |
