Based on the book series of the same name, Percy Jackson and the Olympians premiered on December 2023 on Disney+. The fantasy television series, created by author Rick Riordan and executive producer Jonathan E. Steinberg, follows demigod Percy Jackson as he completes remarkable tasks, fulfills predictions, and engages in combat with and for the gods.

The first season of the series itself, which will consist of eight episodes, features the events that occurred in the first book in the series: The Lightning Thief. Starring the show are Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase), and Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood).

For those who have seen the show, what are your overall thoughts? Has it been, in your opinion, a solid adaptation thus far? What are you impressed by? What are your favourite parts? What could have been done differently?

As a HUGE fan of the books, I am very, VERY thrilled with the two episodes released so far! The three lead cast members are phenomenal! My fave thing so far is the friendship between Grover and Percy; the series has made me fall in love with it even further. Aryan and Walker have such chemistry :loved:

I cannot wait for episode three :x3:

I am absolutely in love with this series! This is truly the adaptation that Percy Jackson fans needed!

Walker Scobell is the PERFECT Percy. No ifs, ands, or buts. He just is. And I am also so impressed with Leah Sava Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri as Annabeth and Grover. They all have such great on-screen chemistry, and I'm loving their take on the characters. Their off-screen chemistry is also great. I've watched so many of their interviews and I crack up every time at their shenanigans. :xd:

Throughout the series so far, they have made a few changes from the book, but I am totally on board with what has been done. They don't take away from the original story, correct some mistakes that were made when the book was written all those years ago, and they really add to the stories of the characters, even the ones that have brief appearances. I'm so glad that they have Rick heavily involved with the show.

Out of all the episodes that have been released so far, I would say that Episode 5: "A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers" is my favourite. Adam Copeland is amazing as Ares, and I really like the changes they made with the Quest for Ares' Shield. Lots of really cute Percy/Annabeth moments :loved: ... and then the Ares and Grover scenes were really fun to watch as well.

Can't wait for the next episode! :x3:

I'm enjoying the series so much! I honestly love all of the casting choices. Obviously the main three are fantastic and do a great job of bringing Percy, Annabeth and Grover to life but I also love Ares/ Sally and Gabe too!

As a WWE fan, I love Adam anyway but seeing him as Ares was so much fun. Granted wrestling does include a lot of acting and cutting promos

I'm really enjoying the series so far but I'm excited to see this season and the following seasons too. There's so many people I'm excited to see in the series.

I was never into wrestling and I certainly strongly dislike book Ares, but the actor made me kinda like the character

I'm not sure what's happening on my part, but the actors - in the cases of Ares', Grover's and Annabeth's - have made me like their respective characters a lot more than their book versions. Percy is the exception because I love both versions. My point is, the casting is THAT good!

I'll be really sad when the seasons come to an end xD

I honestly love the characters in the book anyway. I've always love Annabeth in the books although I was less fond of Grover. Still liked him but Percy and Annabeth were my favourites.

Ares I was less fond of but Adam played him so well in that episode that I just can't help but love him in the series.

I completely understand that. To each their own xD

Speaking of Adam and Ares, Jason Mantzoukas as Mr. D!!!! *chef's kiss* I mean, I was laughing at his scenes on screen as I was while reading!
