Gobstones Match: Slytherin vs. Hufflepuff

The building used for the Gobstones matches had had it's doors opened to the brisk, late fall air and it's surfaces magically dusted by Professor Romanos and Mr. Kitridge, the school's Gobstones sponsors and made ready for the term's second match.

The yellow and green marbles were set out and the playing 'field' had been marked. Chairs were set out on each side of the arena creating a Viewing Area for those not playing to watch.

When Leobald headed down from the castle to set up for the second Gobstones match of the term he walked down in the chilly morning air where the trees were dropping their leaves in preparation for the winter season . By the time he had unlocked and entered the building his hands were shaking from the cold. Pulling out his wand he warmed himself up satisfiably before he fetched the stone bags and took a tour of the court and stands in the viewing area.

Everything looked good for the match so Leo took his place in the center of the court to wait for Medea and the players from Slytherin and Hufflepuff. When a the group of student's had formed around him he spoke as much as to them as the people in the stands. "Welcome everyone to the second Gobstones match of the season."

"Good luck to both houses and remember that horse-play won't be tolerated." he said putting emphasizis on the last words. Giving the teams their stones, green to Slytherin and yellow to Hufflepuff he took his place on the sideline.

In the first round of the first match Captain Ella Bishop marched out onto the court for the badgers with the yellow shooter in her hand. An unknown snakes faced off against her. When Mr Kitridge blew the whistle the two released their shooters. The yellow stone got an early lead on its green opponent and they kept that distance all the way up to the Jack stone.

"The first point of the match goes to Hufflepuff!" Mr Kitridge announced cheerfully.

For the second roll of the match the snakes tossed in seventh year Clement BelRose to face against Captain Ella that had remained on the court. On the sound of the whistle both players released their shooters. The green stone shot forward like it had an angry dragon on its tail. Even though the speed was spectacular the aim was poor. The green stone landed in the lap of a spectator faster than anyone could say snidget. The yellow stone on the other hand had better aim and speed and could seemingly without much effort roll up next to the Jack Stone.

"Two points to Hufflepuff!" Mr Kitridge announced cheerfully.

After some strategy talk with their team mates both Clement and Ella walked back out onto the court. On Mr Kitridge's signal they both released shooters almost simultaneously. The yellow stone placed itself behind it's green opponent as they rolled down the court. The stone's had reached the halfway mark when the green stone started to curve out towards the left. Way off course. The yellow stone with a clear field inched up next to the Jack Stone for some new points.

"Three points to Hufflepuff!" Mr Kitridge announced cheerfully.

The strategy talk seemed to have paid off for one side as would be evident in the next round. Clement BelRose wanted another swing with the shooter and thus rooted himself on the court next to Ella Bishop. The two players released their stones. The stone sped off down the court neck and neck until the yellow stone just without warning stopped. No shouting or claps from the badgers made it move an inch forward. The green stone could now with an open field roll up next to the Jack stone.

"1 point to Slytherin!" Mr Kitridge declared.

For the 5th round of the match the snakes decided to try a newcomer to the game, Marissa one of the new first years. She faced one of the thougher badger opponents, Ella the badger qudditch captain. The two girl's released their shooters at the same time. The stone sped down the court, overtaking each other as they went. They kept at it until they reached the Jack where the yellow stone tapped the Jack stone first.

"2 point to Hufflepuff!" Mr Kitridge declared.
