Kensi was merely listening; she was never the brains in the family, like ever. She was more...of a street-smarts person. So she was learning LOADS of new stuff...which was always nice, though she doubted very much she'd remember a lot of it. Sometimes she wished she was as clever as her sister... She did, however, snort lightly at the last question. Well...wasn't it obvious? "I mean, if the object in question isn't doing what it's supposed to do, wouldn't that mean it was counterfeit?" She asked, one of her eyebrows raised. Either that..or it was a dumb object and was broken. But that was the only thing that came to her head...The redhead ran a hand through her hair before eyeing the Dorin guy. Hmmph. |
''I think a fake horcrux is way better than the real thing.'' Josh said with an obvious smirk feeling better now as he had his own...ideas. ''So, do we really need to be against it.'' Maybe the dude was after a cool joke to freak his friends out. 'Look i have horcrux! And i am gonna KILL you to make the next!' HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA... Whatever...he had better not laugh out loud during this thing. Now, to the question. How could we learn that an object was a counterfeit one? ''I think there are several ways to do so.'' the young man taking a step closer to the boss who had asked the question, finally getting out of the place he had hid himself in the small crowd of employees. ''First of all, if we got the information or notice that someone has 'suffered' from an object which would be harmless in general, like a sneaskope, we can tell that most likely it is a counterfeit object. Second; we can test it by forcing the owner of the object to 'use' it and see what it does.'' Yes, that was the best. ''But well...as far as i am concerned a counterfeit object does not have to be something dangerous. So, in order to determine a simple and mere counterfeit object, what about just comparing it in every way with the real thing?'' |
keeping things moving... and throwing a minor activity in here. Quote:

"You're correct. Essentially," he responded. "Ignoring the suggestion that you use innocent bystanders as guinea pigs, or even torture the victims more for the sake of identification. However, yes. A rogue sneakoscope is most likely counterfeit." Another reason why CMEC dealt with certifying dark detectors in the first place, although that wasn't the topic being discussed. Simple identification was, and he flicked his wand to summon a few small boxes to the front of the room. "You did hit on an important point, though, Mr. Carter, and one I touched on not that long ago. Not all counterfeit objects are dangerous, beyond their mere existence to create questions about the true items. So here's a test for you all. There are Ministry badges in each of these boxes, and each box contains a different department." Just to make things a bit more interesting. "Feel free to look at them. Pick any box, just keep in mind that there is at least one counterfeit badge in each box that you are trying to locate. Just by looking at them." And he stepped back to let them go at it,hopefullynot all rushing for the same box at once. OOC: There are four links, to MoM logos/badges. Just to give you an idea of what you're looking at, so just pretend you're looking at a box of a whole lot of the same thing, and RP how you would identify one that isn't real. Just have fun, and I'll move things on after a day or two. |
Sky made sure to make note of how to tell if something was counterfeit...Ooh another test. Eep they had to identify which one was the counterfeit badge, should be interesting. She stood up from her seat and looked at all four boxes, which one should she do...Hmm, on wards to the department of creatures badges box. Sliding over to the box she wanted she began to flip through them looking at each of them for the slightest thing that could be different. She thought it would be easier than this she practically saw the thing every day since her sister was a creature person. Still flip them she began to go a bit faster which probably wasn't the right thing to do because as soon as she began to do it a couple badges fell on the ground. Opps. Bending down she picked them up and then stood back up quickly. No one saw that right? Just as she was about to put them back she noticed one of them only had one star thing. "Erm is this one a counterfeit..." She wasn't one hundred percent sure but it was different it only had one star she had never really identified counterfeits anyway... |
Approaching one of the boxes and peeking into it, Roxanne spotted a bunch of badges belonging to the Department of Accidents & Catastrophes. She decided that her best bet would be to try to find the one that had any slight irregularities. Maybe a color that was slightly off or a letter that was slightly off kilter, something. So, sticking her hand into the box while stareing into it, she started sifting the badges around. Soon enough, one caught her eye and she pulled it out to investigate. Sadly, the faded color seemed to be just normal wear and tear. She tossed it aside and resumed her search. A few more minutes went by and another badge caught her eye. This time, instead of the faded red, the color was more of a pinkish red than the others. "Erueka!" she exclaimed, holding up the badge and feeling slightly proud of herself. |
Kensi felt herself grinning as he responded. Oh, he had gotten her! Try thinking next time, bud! she thought to herself. "You're right, of course," was all she said in reply, still grinning sheepishly. She was new...and he knew her name! It somewhat distracted her... Then he gave instructions...so she took one of the boxes of badges...and tried to sift through the badges, trying to spot a difference... In the box of the one with the MLE badges, and she found one without the little prongs sticking out outside the circle of the badge...Hmm...that looked suspicious..."THis one looks quite fishy, if you ask me.." she picked it up and held it up...hmm. |
Since nobody's posted again in a while. :/ Text Cut: Thank you ^_^ Hmm. Seems like people are getting restless again. Or bored, but at least the rest of the training should be more than just skill testing, Dorian thought, as only a few MLEers seemed willing to step forward to investigate the contents of the boxes. Granted, in its own way, he had to admit that counterfeit magic wasn't half as exciting as actually fighting, and he hadn't set an incentive for his activity like Cade had either, but it was their own decision if they wanted to disregard all aspects of the training that had been set forward for them. Not to mention he had to give credit to the fact that two out of the three who had tackled the activity were from the opposite side of the floor. Including Ms. Whitworth, who had seemed surprised he'd known her name. There was no reason for him to only know the employee names of his own division after all. Either way, he'd nodded as her, Ms. Carter and Ms. Nightingale had all indicated a badge from whichever box they'd chosen. "Those are all intelligent observations, ladies," he responded. Even if at least one of them hadn't actually verbalized said decision. "Granted, these are all easy tests. The easiest way to identify that something is a counterfeit is that something is missing. Although, in the same respect," he continued, holding out a hand for the badge Ms. Whitworth was holding. "We all know that MLE can be a dangerous job. So something as simple as a badge with a few spokes broken off might not be an example of counterfeit production as opposed to just simple wear and tear from the job. You should always consider the context in any situation, just as a matter of course." And then he smiled slightly. "This one, though, was actually counterfeit. And that's going to end my lesson," he said, vanishing the boxes as he glanced toward the other heads. "So now if you'll turn your attention to Mr. Vartann, we'll move things to the next topic." And he nodded slightly toward Gabe as he stepped back into the lineup. |
Gabriel had to admit, he'd been rather quiet himself throughout this, since the fighting aspect anyway. But none of them had a choice in that. Fight or be strangled probably. Heh. But he'd left the questions from the next parts to the ones with less experience, just keeping an ear out in case they said something he wanted to add to or even correct. So far nothing. Which is why you'd probably have thought he'd nodded off. He hadn't though. He was busy thinking about his section and when it might start. Seemed it was now. Aiming a smile and nod in Dorian's direction, Gabe stepped forwards. "Thank you, Mr. Tamerlane," he said clearing his throat and looking at everyone. "I am here to talk to you about interrogation. At some point or other during your career, which ever part of this division you are in, you will be required to either help during an interrogation or lead one." Removing his wand from it's holster, Gabe flourished it and a large chair appeared in front of him. It had metal straps in the arms and legs, ready to snap into place once someone sat in it. "We have one of these in the security office, and a variant of in the interrogation rooms. I need a volunteer to demonstrate it though, anyone willing?" |
Kensi, still holding the 'fishy' badge, listened as carefully as she could to....what was his name? Dorin? Tamberleneee? Right? Maybe. She just wasn't good with names. And he had a point..it could just be broken... But she had done it right! Yes! So all smiley, she listened to a new guy...who's name she didn't know. She really should get on that. It was lousy... INTERROGATION?! Oh, Kensi had done that before! SOme of her choices had been...unorthadox, for sure, but she was sure she would have to learn the British Ministry way of doing it, since it was mostly different than whatever she had done before. They had such precise ways of doing things. He asked for volunteers... "I'll volunteer, sir!" she put her hand, like she was elementary school again, grinning a bit confidently to herself. The chair didn't look friendly...but neither was Kensi, so they would get along well, wouldn't they? |

"I'll do it," Benjamin smirked. Oh, there's always a time to show off. |
Emily really really really wanted to do this interrogation thingo, but opted not to volunteer. After all, two others had practically jumped out of their skin to do it. Heh. Let the have some fun. This was rather exciting though. Interrogation was one of her favourite things about her job. It's sort of like playing cat and mouse. Only... your mouse is generally speaking tied to a chair. |

Once the woman was seated, Gabriel flicked his wand and watched as the straps enclosed themselves around her wrists and ankles. He wasn't going to do them as tight as he usually would, seeing as she hadn't actually done anything wrong. "Once a suspect is in position they cannot get out, and you are free to start with your interrogation. Now, lets say Miss Whitworth was captured trying to get to our own Minister of Magic, with serious crime on her mind. We know nothing of her motives or her intent. What would the first thing you'd do?" Gabriel narrowed his eyes and scanned their faces. He could probably guess what Emily would say. She was always eager to get things done. |

When he said, 'they cannot get out,' Kensi though she should demonstrate this...so she wiggled around a bit, showing that she indeed could NOT get out. nope. Stuck here...like a duck. Kensi was gonna' do something to the minister? haha! She chuckled and grinned mischievously. She eyed the crowd, almost daring them to be brutal. Who would want to hurt a |
Well now this should be interesting. Wes folded his arms and took a step back, watching, just watching, one of the newbies in action. He actually looked to Ben to see what HE would do, and what HE would ask first. But he also wanted to participate, so he raised his hand a smidgen. "I'd start with the obvious. Why do you think you're here?" He made a point of staring down Whitworth. |
was waiting for others to post..but...erm.. Quote:
Bring it on, MLEers! |
No one else? :/ Quote:
But how would the prisoner react? Quote:
"This is one of your main weapons when questioning people," he said, turning round and addressing the group. "Anyone that is uncooperative, and lets face it, most of them will be, can be put under pressure through this. Any time they give an answer you aren't happy with, that gets YOU nowhere, just do what I did." Gabriel cast a sideways glance at Kensi, still trapped, even more so now. And seeing as so few of them seemed to want to take part he'd move on a little bit, before his last speech at the end. "Now you know what happens when you say something I don't like, perhaps you'd like to try answering that question again. Followed by your name." |
Legend raised his hand slowly. He could answer right? He had kind of zoned out for a moment but....he could? "Shouldn't you ask them what their motives are too? I mean...you can't assume because assuming could just get you in trouble. You have to know facts and stuff." At least thats what the YATI assumed...which really could get him in trouble if what he was saying was true.... It was just a continuous thing that went around and around. |
Roxanne hadn't zoned out, honest. She just wasn't so sure about this whole 'interrogation' thing. Interrogate them about what? Their past? She wasn't so sure she wanted certain coworkers knowing certain things about her. Namely, the newer ones, the ones she didn't so well. But Kensi sure seemed eager enough. She smirked at this. But then, it didn't seem that the girl was being questioned about her past at all. Nope, it seemed that she was supposed to pretend to have done something. Roxanne's eyebrow arched at the girl's response. Hamming it up bit too much. There was one in every crowd. But what the chair did, that had her cringing a bit. Yikes. And Legend's question... well, it made a little bit of sense. If this was a movie. "Do you really think a bad guy, or girl in this case, is really going to just spill out their motives just like that?" she asked with a snort. Really, and she thought this guy was supposed to be in the auror program! |
Sky honestly had zoned out no on purpose or anything she just watched instead of speaking. She looked over at Kensi she sure was eager to be interrogated! She couldn't help but smile at this it was a bit fun interrogating a co-worker they might learn some juicy details about them. Oh, so she was supposed to pretend she did something...One of Sky's eyebrows raised as Kensi responded to Wesley's question. Wow, she had not expected that kind of response. She watched as the chair worked its magic, so to speak. She would even get shocked if he was displeased!? Sky was so happy she did not raise her hand. Hearing Legend's question she nodded it made sense if this was an honest criminal which almost every criminal wasn't. She said "Couldn't you start an interrogation off with a off topic question, to confuse the criminal?" |
Jaxton smiled at Wesley as he answered Gabe, his arms folded across his chest as he looked around to see if some of the "juniors" would give up some answers. When Legend replied he listened and nodded - sure, they might not, but it depended how well trained the criminal was. "I think that depends on how much pressure you have put them under, Miss Carter. If you have already tightened the straps - then they might be under more pressure than they are used to." Jaxton shrugged, though he hadn't thought he would be standing up for his YATI's as much as he had been lately... he was obviously getting soft in his old age. Pffft. He'd have to have a conversation with Gabe, Wes and Damien... that'd soon put him right again. You could always count on your best friends for things like that. "Before asking why they think they are here," He nodded at Wesley, "Perhaps ask them closed questions to relax them, such as 'are you warm enough?,' 'would you like a drink of water?,'... by keeping the interrogation free of specifically laden-filled questions, they might relax and allow us the element of surprise when we reveal just how much we know later into the interrogation." He nodded and scratched his cheek with one hand before crossing them again. |
