The Creature Holding Room

This expansive room is one of the noisest on this side of level four, second only to the bloodhounds kennels. This, the magical creature holding room, is a limbo room where all captured or confiscated creatures are placed until a permanent and more suitable home can be found for them. Enchanted to expand in size when extra room is needed, though it's already large enough, this room is lined with cages of all shapes and sizes. Some are clear boxes for the tiny variety and some are large and bared. All are dripping with protection charms to keep them in and you from losing a digit or two. If one seems to just be slumbering in a corner, don't worry, they haven't escaped, and are contained solely by magical barriers. The room is organized by species, ministry rating, and size; a supply closet is off to the left, full of everything needed to keep the creatures well cared for temporarily.

Even more charms are in place to keep the room from being too stuffy, and to prevent anyone without a magical creatures employee escort from entering (for your own safety of course). Feel free to clean up after some of the creatures or feed other. Just don't get too attached, they are only here temporarily.

OOC: Only magical creatures employees have access to this room. Other ministry workers wishing to gain entrance for any reason needs to first gain permisson from the current department head.

Pygmy Granian 01-22-2012 02:25 AM

She was out of food. Out of food and growing hungrier with each passing second. The Granian who, while fully grown, was a great deal smaller than the average sized winged-horse, gnawed at it's confinement in irritation, hoping to gain some attention from the two legged creature that'd recently placed her behind the steel bars that were definitely not food.

The creature checked once more.

Still not food. But it did open! These creatures clearly weren't as skilled in containing her like the previous creatures who raised her. The Pygmy Granian had liked them. They fed her good.

Nudging the cage door open, she ignored the other confined creatures beckoning for her attention and trotted around in search of food. Her nose lead her to a door that after being attacked by her powerfully short legs, was busted open. The pygmy granian tore apart everything in her path until suitable food was found.

After her self-feeding was over, it was to the door the two-legged creature exited through, tearing it apart with her legs, and trotting on through.

Jessiqua 01-25-2012 04:26 AM

Hadley ran in to the Creature Holding Room, not knowing what the Pygmy Granian liked to eat. But Atticus had asked for food to be obtained for the creature.

She grabbed some fruit and some insects, as well as some dead ferrets and ran out of the room to find where the commotion had moved to.

Jack went out to Scotlands countryside and felt so happy to be out on the job for first time in months. Sure a werewolf scare was dangerous but that is what he went there for. He really did not expect this threat to be much serious but it turned out to be. In the middle of the night during the fool moon he heard a howl and instantly took his wand out and held it at the ready. He was absolutely terrified being the one deep in the countryside by himself with his co-workers miles from him. He took a deep breath and began his search and before long found himself staring face to face with the werewolf. He jumped back and sent stunning spells at the werewolf. He felt lucky to hit on the first shot and it took 6 stunning spells to finally knock the werewold unconcious. He then apparated with it back to headquarters and restrained creature in a giant cage and remembered what he should have even in the heat of the moment. He could have used a patronus so he would not have had to face the creature on his own. He sent one out to each of co-workers saying he found and subdued the beast. Hethen left the holding room to get some rest after all the craziness. It would not be till morning anyway before he could learn the human identity of this lyncanthrope.

Cage in hand, Ella entered the holding room with the little mutant creature that was hopefully still snoozing. She walked to the furthest corner and set the cage on a shelf about four feet off the ground for easy access. The shelf was charmed to hold the cage so any wobbling and flailing of the creature would not knock the cage to the ground. This little guy wasn't going anywhere. Ella then proceeded to place the normal several protective charms over the cage so the employees wouldn't lose any fingers.

When she was done, she stuck a note to the side of the cage that read:

Quote:

UNKNOWN CREATURE

Name: Unknown
Breed: Unknown
Cause of current state: Unknown
Rating: XXXX (Dangerous / requires specialist knowledge / skilled wizard may handle)

This creature could be the product or the cause of a lab explosion. This creature is DANGEROUS. Proceed with caution. Do NOT remove protective charms without explicit permission from the Magical Creatures Department Head.

lol i forgot Dex's post color and i'm too lazy too find it. Whoops.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Dex entered the creature holding room with a clipboard under one arm. Earlier, he had watched his department head wander in with a creature he'd never seen before. It was strange that such a thing would happen. Dex was well versed in his creature knowledge and enjoyed reading up on new discoveries in the Magical Creatures Magazine, whose actual title he may have temporarily forgotten.

Before even beginning the search for the new creature, the man made his way down the first few rows of shelving and kennels to do his daily rounds, picking up food and other necessary care items for the creatures he'd tasked himself with.
________

Giving a little pat to the niffler they'd brought in only a few days ago, Dex shut the final cage and started the search for the new one, having not spotted any new creatures in the rows he'd just been down, he checked the other side of the room eventually happening across the thing.

After getting permission, Jade headed to the creature holding room, in order to see if she could see its mind and memory patterns and see if she could detect anything that was helpful.

The pinkish creature snapped and hissed at her as she approached it. She bent down by its cage and tried her memory finding techniques on it. It was really difficult and all she really got was impressions and sensations of people and things. Nothing concrete but it did confirm that there were other people involved and this creature wasn't in the A&C lab by accident.

Jack saw the notice on the board that their would be other ministry employees in the holding cells to study an unknown creature. He had to see this and his assignment was to help as needed. He entered and saw someone bent down by a cage that had not been there his previous visit. He walked up to the person and bent down next her. He saw the pinkish creature who was a bit aggressive but otherwise pretty adorable, with fluffy puff head and cute little tail. It was a bit large but he was used to that. He turned to the other person their and in a tone he hoped to be non-startling said, "Hey, I'm Jack of the Magical creatures department. This is a pretty cool mysterious creature isn't it. What have you learned about it so far? Could you use some help, perhaps I could de-mobilize the creature so you can study it more closely.".

Mutant X 11-23-2013 05:09 AM

*SCAMPER SCAMPER SCAMPER*

Cages. Bars. It hated both of these and it had been far too long since the beady-eyed creature had been kept in here. Freedom. It wanted, no, NEEDED freedom.

Giant teeth chattering, the creature jumped at the right hand side of the cage and began to gnaw on its prison. Bright pink saliva oozed from its mouth and formed a puddle at the base.

*GNAW GNAW GNAW GNAW*

The bar began to wiggle under the pressure being applied by the creature's fierce looking teeth. Soon....SOON it would be free!

*GNAW GNAW GNAW GNAW*
*SAAAAAAAAAAAALIVA OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZ*

A loud CLANK and PING could be heard as the base of one of the bars dissolved and fell to the floor. Spooked by this, the creature let out an ear piercing SQUEEEEEEEEE and sprung forward. Two more bars - also weakened by the pool of pink drool - broke off and fell to the floor as well.

FREEDOM! IT WAS FREE!

Jade turned to see a man come up to her and introduce himself as Jack. He was one of the people who worked in the Magical Creatures department.

"Hello. I'm Jade from A&C." She smiled at him.

Now that was out of the way about his questions, "I couldn't find much because he is a creature and honestly I don't think that a Reminisciator can look into creatures' mind not as well as they can into people's. But I did manage to pick up that he wasn't in the A&C lab by accident. Someone or actually a few somebodys sent him there. It isn't much to go on since I am just getting impressions of people but at least it is something.

As for Jack's second question, "Sure. I could use the help. Perhaps the demobilizing will be beneficial in discovering more."

Jade walked into the room where they had been keeping mutant x and gasped out loud when she saw that the bars were cut and there were dripping pink drool.

She immediately sent a warning out with her wand before using it to make sure that at least the other cages were secure.

How could this have happened?! Mutant x was safely kept inside the same cage for weeks now.

Hey Ju 12-09-2013 10:08 AM

Derek's mood wasn't any better, even though several days had passed since he first met his new 'supervisor'. He didn't expect his mood to change before he got rid of the Erikson person any time soon, but he was trying to keep busy and not think about it too much. Not.

The 28 year-old walked into the Creature Holding Room to colect some more samples with the usual annoyed frown, which was soon replaced by a surprised and shocked look. What even??? Derek eyed all of the pink saliva all over the floor and the bar of the cage... also on the floor. Great... oh, that was just GREAT. Urgh!

He couldn't spot the creature yet and before even acknowledging anyone else that was in the room, he turned on spot and made the door close with a very loud bang before doing anything else. That bloody creature could NOT scape! It could NOT go anywhere, ESPECIALLY BACK TO HIS LAB.

Merlin, if that creature had wandered off and found its way back to his lab... it would definitely be a dead creature as soon as Derek found it.

Definitely NOT in a good mood.

"Well, that was fun," January said as she entered the creature holding room, still assuming William was behind her. She hadn't a need to come in before now, but she didn't take long to look around. She just set the little critter in the cage on the ground and let it sleep. In Will's pants.

Speaking of Will... "Nice sarong," she said, attempting not to smile too much. It wasn't working.

BanaBatGirl 12-10-2013 03:21 AM

"That was not fun," William mumbled as he tagged along with January. Wait, maybe she was being sarcastic? He wasn't really in the mood for jokes right now. Obviously. He was in a dolphin sarong. He WAS the joke.

He glanced down at it as his redhead friend brought it up. "Yeahhhhhh no. Has it ever occurred to you that our boss might just be mad?" Genuine question, January.

In fact, she was being sarcastic, but oh well. She imagined William wasn't in a very joking mood at the moment. January gave the sarong another once-over and pursed her lips. "Yes. I occurs to me most days, actually." She had tried not to be judgmental when she first met her, but it just so happened that her first impression was a lasting one.

"On the bright side, the dolphins really bring out your eyes." Heheheh. Okay, okaaaaaay, enough of the sarong jokes. She was done.

"Oh good, jolly good, I'm not alone." He let out a sigh and ruffled the hair on the back of his head irritatingly. "I mean, I like her, you know, she's not bad to work for, she's just.... a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit out there." January knew, probably. It was just easier to talk about someone other than his poor sad self right now, the man wearing the aquamarine marine life scene.

Such poetry.

"Alright, alright," William cracked a sideways smile at her and moved over to the cage. "Do you really need my help here, or can I go home now?" He was fine with not wearing pants WHEN HE WAS IN HIS OWN APARTMENT. Not in public. Big difference there.

A little bit out there seemed like an understatement. January crossed her arms and nodded a couple times. "I know what you mean. But she seems to know what she's doing, so," January shrugged. She was their boss and she was doing a fine job, minus the rogue mutants running about, but that wasn't entirely her fault. If at all.

January let a laugh slide and shook her head. "Nah, you go home and put some pants on." Seriously. She had been trying to ignore the awkward, but it was practically tangible. "Besides, I'm out anyway. I do ghosts, not... things." Whatever those things were.

Mutant X 12-14-2013 07:04 AM

Stirring in its peaceful slumber, the wittle sweepy mutant began to paw and make little squeaking noises now and again at the fabric of its nice and warm sleeping quarters.

Judging from all its pawing, or was it running, it might wake up soon.

pinkphoenix 12-18-2013 03:30 PM

Jade walked into the Creature holding cell and mentally prepared herself. She had no idea how she was going to try and get more mental information from Mutant X. Whatever it was, it sure wasn't human. But she had to do what she could to help solve this case and outbreak of sorts.

She neared its cage and noticed that it was still asleep but she was sure that it would wake up soon. So she mentally flexed her abilities and slowly began to mentally reach out to the creature's mind.

Kylie walked in with the creature holding room. She and Laurel had captured one of those mutants. Yay... Wasn't that hard. The mutant had basically done all the work. Almost falling off of the cabinet. Priceless. And then all it took was a simple spell. And pow it was captured. But now it was time to take the little creature back to the holding room.

Boy, was she certainly relieved. Relieved about a few things. One, that they captured the mutant. Two, that Laurel didn't have to do it alone. Three, that the mutant wasn't too hard to capture for her & Kylie. And four, that no one was injured! So that was definitely a lot of positive things that made the blonde very happy today!

She looked at Kylie & then nudged her lightly as she said, "Good job, I definitely don't think that would've been too easy if either of us had done it alone.." Laurel then went on to give her a polite smile followed by a friendly nod.

Who knew working at the ministry would be so adventurous. Harmony had gotten word of all kinds of strange occurrences going on and she couldn't help but be curious about them. She wanted to explore but first, she wanted to check on how her level was handling things.

The red head left her office and casually strolled over towards the creature holding room, ankle bracelets jingling along as she walked. Best to check on the mutant creature and make sure it didn't try another disappearing act.

Once inside, the department head was pleased to find two of her employees. They weren't alone, either.

"Hello, ladies. Is this the creature from Diagon Alley?"

He had heard about the mutant creature in Diagon Alley. Was this it? He took a closer look and noticed two of his female co-worker and. OH MY GOSH, THAT'S THE DEPARTMENT HEAD. THIS MUST BE THE MUTANT CREATURE!!! He approached them, "Good day ladies, is this the mutant creature from Diagon Alley? How wonderful, another employee. It was so lovely to see that the creature department was full of life these days. Harmony felt like a happy Queen bee among the worker bees of the hive. Proud and watchful and buzzing with joy. Bzzzzz.

"Hello, there. That's precisely what I was wondering. I imagine that it is." Considering the women who returned it to the holding room and all. The red head's lips curved into a smile at Jack's next comment. "It is extraordinary looking! I'm so glad to see that you don't find it frightening! Poor dear must be so scared to begin with without all the fuss over its appearance."

"I have worked with all sorts of magical creatures in my lifetime. None of them scare me. I know that in most cases no matter what the creature they just want to be loved and respected. And I know there are some exceptions but this little guy certainly ain't one of them. So, what do you think we should do. Try to approach the creature with wands at the ready or subdue the creature first?".

The mutant has already been contained :)

Scare him? Why on earth would a creature scare someone? If the proper precautionary measures were taken and all living creatures treated with respect, Harmony could think of no reason why they should be feared. One just had to be considerate and careful, is all. Knowing what you're dealing with and the proper way to handle it always helped. "Ah yes, I agree. Respect is of extreme importance when working with anything, beast or being."

Subdue the creature? Harmony was confused. "I don't think it's necessary to subdue the creature since these two ladies have already done such a good job capturing it and returning it to our care. It looks secure enough as it is right now."
