Office of Department Head Ella Wellington When you enter the Department Head's office, the first thing you will notice is the window that takes up at least half of the wall directly behind the mahogany desk situated in the middle of the room. This window is charmed to let you see a variety of creatures in their unique habitats appear as if they were just outside the window; the creatures most often seen are the different breeds of dragons as these are the creatures Ella has worked with the most. The window will change the type of creature it displays after a certain amount of time and will circulate through nearly every type of creature known to wizardkind. Once you manage to tear your eyes away from the window, you will probably notice a few of the pictures on the walls. They, too, contain moving images of magical creatures, along with several pictures of the different countries she has traveled to, including Romania, Russia, Australia, Austria, Peru, South Africa, and several more. In many of the pictures, you will find her alongside a man around the same age. Against the right wall in a corner near the door is a medium-sized mahogany book shelf. Books on magical creatures are set both vertically and horizontally on each of the shelves to make sure they all fit. The ones that Ella felt she was mostly likely to read have been set on the outside for easy reach. In the center of the room is the desk behind which your Department Head will be seated whenever she's actually in the room. The desk is neat, organized, and everything is where it should be, just like Ella likes it. Also on her desk is a smaller picture frame facing her that contains a portrait of her and that same man in the other pictures. In front of the desk is a pair of comfy armchairs where any visitors who come to see him can sit. If you need to talk to Ella for any reason, do not hesitate to come by and talk with her. She's always willing to lend a listening ear. However, please knock on the door and wait for her to allow you in. It's only polite after all. |
Kylie had not been to a first day in forever, it seemed like years but this time she wouldnt have her mother whispering to everyone and the Head of the Department wouldnt have remembered her as the girl who picked him up. She had her normal purple orchid in her hair and she thought she was dressed appropriatley. Walking up to the Department head's office so she could meet him face to face and not just "through" a letter so to speak. When she reached the door she gave it a good knock! |
So many papers. So many reports. So much reading... Atticus would have thought that after nearly two years at this job, he would be used to reading and hopefully even like it considering how much of it he had to do. Old habits and dislikes died hard though, and even now he wished he could be doing anything else right now. Watching a flobberworm would surely be a great deal more entertaining. But he had a job to do, and so he picked up another sheet of parchment and began to read... ...when there was a knock at the door. Perfect timing! He set the piece of parchment back down on his desk, stood, and walked to the door, opening it when he reached it. "Oh, hello," he said, greeting the woman standing there with a smile. "Come on in." He stood to the side a bit and pulled the door wide open to let her in. |
Smiling she walked into the heads office. I hope I am not intruding, were you busy? Remembering this man probablly didnt know who she was not in Australia where her mother was the Minister of Magic. Sorry, I am Kylie Rewuri. I was hired as the Cheif Werewolf Operative. I just came to introduce myself and say hello and meet you. Looking at his desk she realized he had lots to do but she wouldnt be here that long. So, hello! Kylie wanted to ask how many werewolf operatives there were but she could wait...A couple moments not that long though the curiosity would have killed her by then. |
Busy? Eh. "It can wait," he responded with a nod. Ah, yes, Kylie Rewuri, he did remember getting her application. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Rewuri," Atticus said, giving her a polite smile and offering his hand for her to shake. "I'm Atticus Aldredge, but you may just call me Atticus." It was much preferred. "So hello to you as well," he continued with a slight chuckle. It was nice to see someone so enthusiastic about being here. |
Taking the lifts he'd decided it was time to go introduce himself to his fellow department heads. He'd really not gone outside of level 5 'cept to enter and leave the ministry, til recently. Even then though he didn't even stop and visit other levels. His first stop he figured would be level 4 since it was one of the few he'd not delivered trays to a few days previous. Glancing at the two offices, one for environmental and the other magical creatures he picked the magical creatures one. Knocking on the door he stepped back to wait to be bidden to enter. |
Ella had just sat down at her desk and was just about to reach for a binder on the bookshelf behind her, when there was a knock on the door. Well, good timing, since she hadn't started working yet. "Come on in!" she called from inside the office. There was a picture of her and a man on her desk and Ella noticed it was crooked, so she went to adjust it. She did, but for a few moments just stared blankly at the frame and her eyes seemed to glaze over as if she was lost in a deep thought... |
Entering the office when he heard the words 'come in' Gavin peeked in before entering fully. "Good morning." he said brightly, "I just thought I'd stop in and introduce myself, I'm Gavin Higareda, the new International Magical Cooperation Department Head." Wow, that was a mouthful. Maybe he should have just said level 5 department head... Oh well, too late now. "Am I interrupting something?" he asked when he realized she was kind of looking lost in thought. |
Oh, right. She had a visitor. Ella tore her eyes away from the picture and stood up as the man entered her office. Ah, that's right. He was the new level five department head. Which was a lot easier to say than that whole slew of words he just said. Ella let out a quiet chuckle and held out her hand for Gavin to shake. "A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Higareda. I'm Ella Wellington." She assumed that he knew she was the Magical Creatures head since he was in her office that was full of pictures of animals. Interrupting something..? Oh. Ella shook her head and waved her hand. "Oh, no, I was just... spacing out," she said, glancing back to the picture on her desk. She looked back at Gavin with a smile. "No problem. So... You're new to the Ministry, too?" She actually didn't know. She just knew he was a new department head, like her. |
Stepping forward she shook the woman's hand, "A pleasure as well Ms. Wellington. Please call me Gavin." Yes, he insisted on that even outside his own level. The formality still irked him a lot. Smiling kindly he shook his head "No I've been in the ministry for 7 years now, I started in the Time Room but moved to level 5, five years ago." By her question he'd assumed she had just started in the ministry "Are you a new department head as well, and just starting out in the British Ministry?" He really wished he knew more about the people in the ministry. He'd never really gotten to know the other employees, except on level 5. Even those in the time room he'd not really known well. Except Jade and Becca anyway. Smiling he nodded as she said she was just spacing out. |

Gesturing to the chair in front of her desk, Ella spoke again. "Would you like to sit and chat? I've got some tea warmed up if you want. Unless you're too busy and were just stopping by to say hello." She thought it was polite to ask, though. |
Quote:
Taking the seat she offered, he smiled in reply "I'd enjoy that thank you." He had most of what needed doing completed so he had a bit of time on his hands. "Tea would be lovely, thank you!" |
Quote:
Pleased that Gavin accepted the invitation, Ella smiled and scurried to the other side of her desk where there was a warm pot of tea and a few tea mugs. She poured two cups, glad to see that it was still steaming. Grabbing the cups, she brought them back to the desk and set one in front of Gavin before sitting down in her chair and taking a sip. "So, seven years in this place, huh?" she asked, crossing her legs. "And you said... 'Time Room'? What is that?" Maybe she had too many questions, but all Ella really knew were magical creatures. |
Quote:
"Thank you!" taking the cup he was offered he gave her another smile. "That's right actually in London even, 7 years here and 2 in the Daily Prophet as a journalist and before that San Fransisco's Daily Prophet." Cocking his head to the side a little "Ever work with a time turner? Well that's where we make them as well as keep track of every one of them in Britain." |
Quote:
A Daily Prophet journalist, too. Interesting. "Did you like that? Journalism?" Just curious. Oh, time turners. Time room, time turners, it all made sense. "Oh, okay. I didn't know we made them here. That's fascinating." She had never used a time turner, although she could think of a time where she could definitely go back and change the past. |
I swore I replied O.O I read this I was here... Quote:
"I did, I was editor back in San Fransisco. It was trying at times, but it was fun work. When I came to London I was a photo journalist so I did photography, which I found I liked a lot more." Watching as she put the two together he grinned, "Yep, it was fun seeing them become one, and testing was always a bit fun with sitting in the room with yourself, not always a walk in the park but fun all the same." He wondered what she was thinking, she looked kind of like she was thinking something, but couldn't be sure. He didn't know her well enough to tell that. "So what did you do before this?" |
Quote:
Wow, an editor and a photo journalist. Interesting. "That's quite different than international cooperation," she said with a hint of amusement. She wanted to ask what drew him to the Ministry, but she was afraid of asking too many questions. Ella took another sip of her tea when he asked about her past. "I was a professor at Florence's Academy of Magical Creatures, over in Italy. I studied there after I graduated Hogwarts for a few years, did some traveling..." She paused momentarily before continuing, "Then I spent some time at the dragon sanctuary in Romania before becoming a professor. And after three years I realized I didn't really want to teach anymore, I wanted to be more active, and not by giving lectures about beasts and spirits. So, that's what brought me here." She smiled and shrugged a little. That was her history in a nutshell. Of course, there was more to it, but this was just for the sake of small-talk. |
Quote:
"It is, but I've done a lot of travelling. Up til now it's been a constant in my life. Travelling to so many different places. And I have a lot of contacts out there, from both doing the travelling and working at the Prophet." He didn't add lots of contacts on the black market and underground, but that would be a given too, he figured. Tilting his head a little his eyes widened, "Fascinating, I haven't taught any subjects, though I'm sure it'd be a lot of fun!" He loved kids and watching as their lives opened up with the knowledge they got, just his little brother and sister in law, though they were young yet he'd learned so much about and taught them a lot. He loved having those two kids living with him and Kat! Nodding he understood where she was coming from. "I can see that. Being stuck in the school for 10 months out of the year, keeps you pretty limited and I don't rightly know if I'd like that myself, I'd want to be out there." Taking another drink he finished the cup. Instead of asking for more though he stood up and moved to the pot where she'd poured it from and refilled his cup before returning to his seat. |
Quote:
Ella took another sip of her tea and nodded as Gavin spoke. He had traveled a lot too, like her. "That's good then," she commented about him having a lot of contacts out there. "That must be contribute to being the head of International Cooperation, I'm sure." Just a wild guess. Ella smiled again. "Yes, it was a good time while I was their. I was always fond of the school, and teaching there was a privilage. I enjoyed it." But, like she said, she realized after a few years that she wanted to be back out in the action again. Ella sighed quietly. "It was fun, but I'm glad for the change. I'm still doing what I love, I just get to be more involved and get more action." Just like the old days... The good days. Ella nodded when Gavin got up to get more tea. "Help yourself. I have some little caramel candies, too," she said, pointing to a glass bowl by the tea. |
Quote:
"A bit yes. But I think my contacts within the black market and other ministries probably attributed to it as well." he replied with a nod. Gosh he probably had more contacts in other ministries then a lot of other people did in just the continent they were on! "It helps having your own contacts at times, especially if you know precisely what you're looking for and know who to contact to get it." Nodding he totally got where she was coming from "I think that's the hard part about not being out there, it's why I've moved so much. I hate just sitting back and watching the action, gotta be out in it!" Taking a caramel from the bowl, he smiled "Thank you." Taking another drink of the tea he sat back in his chair. |
Ella laughed again and shook her head. "That would definitely not be good." Whew. It was a relief to her that he had a sense of humor. It was good to know she wasn't working with a bunch of stick-straight squares. Black market? Ella raised her eyebrows at that, even though it probably shouldn't have surprised her that much. It was actually kind of intriguing. Nodding again, she took a gulp of her tea. "I know what you mean. Then again, you kind of have to have a million contacts with a position like yours. And mine, what with all the dragon reserves and everything else out there. Although, it is rather hard to contact mermaids." She laughed a little and adjusted a slightly crooked folder on her desk. Not many people spoke mermish, though Ella was learning. "I know what you mean," she said again. "I like being on the move. I need excitement." And that explained the several years of her traveling around with her husband. Ella's eyes flickered to the portrait of them on her desk before she quickly turned around refilled her tea mug. |
Quote:
He saw her lifted eyebrows, and mentally shrugged. Well every job held different things, and his had always dealt with working with the black market. Some things were only able to be purchased that way! And sometimes it was the only way to catch the bad guys that were trying scam innocent witches and wizards not to mention muggles! "In some ways yes, some times I have to deal with people I'd really rather not want to deal with but do, just so the job gets done." He was sure that she had some people that were the same though, but probably not along those same lines. Nodding as she mentioned dragon reserves. "Yep, just depends on the job. Hmm, I don't speak mermish, that's one that I've had a hard time learning. Though Troll and Gobbledygook were hard enough to learn, not all points and grunts you know." Wrinkling his nose he took another drink. The goblins he'd dealt with on occasion didn't make it any easier either! "Definitely. I think this is the first time I've actually settled down." Grinning lopsidedly "Guess marriage does that to a guy." Yep, he'd been willing to settle down once he and Kat had finally gotten serious! |
Ella shrugged a little. "Whatever gets the job done." That was the most important thing. That and safety, but... that was kind of a given. Although Ella enjoyed adventure, even if it wasn't exactly safe. Her life was always pretty adventurous, just the way she liked it. After taking another sip of her tea, Ella smiled a little. "I started learning Mermish recently. It's... complicated." She laughed lightly. She was fairly good at learning new languages though, even if most of them were Latin-based, not a completely different species. But she would manage. Ella shook her head and leaned back into her chair. "How many languages do you speak?" she asked out of curiousity. Ah, marriage. That settled people down alright. Ella smiled a little solemnly and nodded. She never really "settled down" when she got married. Maybe they should have. That would have saved a lot of trouble. And maybe a life. Ella glanced at the picture on her desk again before distracting herself with words again. "Your wife, does she work here, too?" |
Quote:
He caught her glance towards a picture on her desk and smiled at her question "Yes, Kat and I actually met on level 5, we both worked as undercover buyers. She's now the Ambassador to Magical countries." He wondered how she was going to react to know both Gavin and Kat were still on the same level... |
"Yes, and then you don't have to worry about it later." Which was the best part of getting things done early, too. She took another drink of her tea as he explained his struggle with learning mermish. She finished her tea and was about to respond, but he continued. She just smiled. Seven languages? Wow. She gave him an impressed look as he named them all off. "That's quite impressive, I must say." And she had several more she wanted to add to her list, too. When she had time. Sigh. Oh, they met on the same level. And they now worked on the same level? "That's... convenient," she said with a small laugh. Convenient, for lack of a better word. Meh. But this talk of marriage was... It was getting to her and it was only the beginning of the day. Sigh. Ella glanced at her watch. "Well, this has been nice chatting with you, but I think I better get back to work. We've got some bloodhounds to train." And other things to take care of, of course. Ella smiled and stood up. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Gavin. I hope we can work together soon." |
Scarlett Knock on the door she wanted to meet her new department head. She waited for the door to be opened. She wanted her input on something since she was turning 27 at end of the month. |
Ella was just reading a letter from a dragon reserve when she heard a knock at her door. She quickly finished the paragraph she was on before setting her reading glasses on her desk. "Come in!" she called, leaning back in her chair. |
Quote:
|
Ella smiled as the woman walked into her office. "Hello Scarlett, have a seat." Ella nodded at the chair as she sat in it. Before she could ask what was on her mind, she was already speaking. So eager. When she spoke of a party, Ella leaned forward and looked at the calendar on her desk. "Well... Halloween is just two days away and... whose birthday? Yours?" She wasn't ever good at dates. Ella tapped her chin with her pen and thought about it for a moment. "Right now, I don't know if a Halloween party is the best thing to do. It's too close and we've got a lot to do. I don't want us to get too distracted about the task at hand. I'm about to give everyone assignments." Hopefully she would understand that a party was a little too much at this point. "You're welcome to set up some minor decorations around the work area if you want, though." Those were more simple. |
Quote:
|
So it was her birthday soon, then. "Well, happy early birthday," she said with a smile. Ella grabbed her pen and scribbled down Scarlett's birthday on her calendar. A birthday cake for the break room and some simple decorations... "I don't see a problem with that. Just make sure you're not too distracted from the assignments I'm about to hand out. And maybe next year, we can plan ahead for a little Halloween party." A little extra time was probably a good idea. |
Quote:
|
"That's good to hear." Distractions were the last thing they needed. Ella smiled again. "I probably haven't been to one since Hogwarts." Which was a LOOONG time ago. She was getting old. Sigh. "It'll be nice to have some decorations up." Hopefully Rafael didn't mind, since they shared the level... Ella sighed quietly and set her pen down. "Well, will that be all? I should get ready for the meeting." |
Quote:
|
"See you there," Ella said with a smile and stood up as Scarlett exited her office. She took a look around her desk and gathered all the necessary papers. After stealing a glance at the picture on her desk one more time, Ella grabbed everything she needed for the meeting and headed out. |
Manolo knocked softly on the door of his department head. He felt utterly stupid that he just had to come her because he couldn't find any of his team members. He rocked back and forth on his heels as he waited for her to open. |
First week back at work and Ella was feeling less than motivated. She wanted to go back on vacation and relax some more, but she knew there was work to be done. Sigh. Turning her chair around, Ella scooted over to her teapot just as she heard a knock on the door. "The door's open!" she called as she poured two cups of tea, just in case whoever was at the door wanted some. |
Manolo heard her call, so he slowly opened the door. "Hello, miss. I hope I'm not bothering you." |
As she heard the door open, Ella turned to see who it was before rolling her chair back to her desk. "Of course not, my office is always open for those who need it." She smiled at Manolo and set two teacups on the desk along with some sugar. "Take a seat, have some tea... What can I help you with?" |
Manolo took a seat and pulled the cup closer to him. "It's just that..." He paused and cleared his throat. He felt childish because he had to come here. He straighten himself up. "I understand that my job is too search around the Ministry with the bloodhounds, but I cannot find my team. Or at least, I couldn't before." He fiddled with cup. "Basically, I feel uneasy taking a bloodhound without permission, especially since I'm just an intern. That's why I'm here, miss." He drank his tea, nervously. |
Quote:
|
Manolo smiled and sighed in relief. So, he wasn't failing on his first day. "Well, I'll be looking forward to it, miss." He smiled and drank his tea more calmed down now. "This is really great tea, by the way." |
Ella smiled in reply and sipped her tea. "Me too! I haven't done much with the bloodhounds here. It should be an adventure." Ella needed one of those to get her back into the swing of things again. After she trained Manolo, that is. "It's my favorite," she commented, about the tea. "I can only find it back home in Spain, though. So my mother sends me some whenever I run out." She smiled a little. Just in case he was wondering. |
Manolo smiled, "It sure will be!" He drank some tea and wagged his finger at Miss Ella. "You know, I find that quite funny. My mother's from Spain and you remind me a lot of her. You two look a lot alike." |
Ella took another sip of her tea... and almost coughed it out. But she managed to keep her cool and swallow it down. She looked like his mother? That made her feel... OLD. Not because Manolo was old or anything. But maybe it was because Ella didn't have any children of her own and the concept of looking like someone's mother was just... odd. It took her a moment to find a reply. "Oh, umm... Interesting," she said with a small smile, trying her best not to LOOK like she was odd. Heh. |
Manolo sensed her get uncomfortable and immediately apologized, "No, no, no! It's not like she's old or anything! How about this...You look like my mother when she was younger. Better?" |
Quote:
|
He smiled hoping that he didn't create awkwardness between he and his new boss. Way to go, Manolo, way to go. "So, when shall we begin my training?" |
Quote:
|
Manolo nodded, making a mental note about his training session. "Sounds good. I'll go do that right now." He stood up from his chair. "Thanks for your time, Miss Ella. Thank your mother for the tea for me." |
Ella smiled and stood up as Manolo did. "Sounds like a good plan." She was looking forward to training him the following day. "Anytime, Manolo. Thanks for stopping by! And I will tell my mother," she said with a small laugh, putting his tea cup back onto the shelf behind her. "Have a good rest of the day." |
A purple paper airplane, complete with the emblem of the Ministry of Magic stamped along its sides, makes its ways through the lifts and corridors of the Ministry of Magic. Reaching its destination, the interdepartmental memo comes to rest in front of its intended recipient. When unfolded, it reads: Quote:
|
Hands at his side, Dexter stood at the door to his department head's office. After having read the announcement she had posted earlier, he felt the need to converse with the woman and offer up an idea. He had yet to formally meet her as well and he figured now was as good a time as any to do that, really. So there he stood, hand raised to the door as he gave it a rap. |
After she had posted the notice on the bulletin board, Ella had returned to her office to look through some papers and have a couple sips of tea before she needed to grab the bloodhounds and head down to the food court. As soon as she entered her office, Ella began heating up some water for her tea. Just a few minutes after she had closed her door and began searching for the Bloodhound papers, Ella heard a knock. "It's open!" she called as she dug through her filing cabinet at the opposite end of the office. |
After twisting the knob, Dexter paused in the doorway. His eyes had been caught by the moving window in the back. It had vaguely reminded him of the stain glass one his parents had owned. It was gorgeous in all honesty. Which was why it had caught him so off guard. With a slight shake of his head and a thrust of his hand into the pocket of his jeans, the normally underdressed man moved a bit further into the office before uttering the woman's name. "Ms. Wellington?" He paused for a moment, taking in the rest of the office as he waited for a response. |
When Ella heard the door open, she was still digging through one of her filing cabinets. She didn't hear anyone speak for a moment, but she soon found the file she was looking for and pulled it out. Ella stood back up as soon as the man said her name and she spotted him just inside the doorway. Dexter Bronwyn, chief committee agent for the disposal of dangerous creatures. She was proud of herself for remembering that even though they hadn't officially met before. "Mr. Bronwyn," Ella replied as she walked over to the man with a small smile. She set the file on her desk and extended her hand for him to shake. "What can I do for you?" She asked, walking around the desk to her teapot. "Tea?" |
Dexter gave a slight nod at the woman when she'd said his name. He was a bit surprised that she'd known it. But then again- she was the boss and she'd hired him. So, she supposed his application had made an impression? Or perhaps she was just brilliant with names. Either way, he approached the desk further and opened his mouth. "Just got some questions 'bout the outbreak, ma'am." He was not yet use to not being in charge and having no one working under him, but he supposed he ought to educate himself on what was going on within the new work place. "The infected- they free roamin' yeh?" Or had the ministry finally rounded them up and he had not heard about it? He hoped so. "Yeh. Tea'd be nice, thank ya." |
Questions about the outbreak, of course. That seemed to be quite the popular topic. "Ask away. And take a seat, if you want." she said, nodding to the chairs in front of her desk as she grabbed two small teacups from the cupboard in her large bookshelf. "No," she replied. "Law Enforcement is currently working on rounding up all of the infected and quarantining them in a holding room on level two. There are a few there already, actually, and I do believe they are still on the hunt for more." So hopefully, if there were any contagions, they would be put under control. Ella turned back around and set the two cups of her favorite tea from Spain on the desk before sitting in her comfortable desk chair. |
Sorry he's bother her >___< "Right. Thanks ma'am." But he didn't take the seat. He preferred standing anyway. So that's what he did as his eyes followed her around the room as she went from the filing cabinet to cupboard and back toward the desk. "Do they know how many's on the loose? How many are infected?" Just curious really. Originally, he was going to suggest to her that they ought to use the bloodhound cages to hold any and all of the infected. But he supposed that the law enforcement had it all under control. Seemed that way, really. The infected were sort of like animals anyway, weren't they? Plus, the bloodhounds could be housed elsewhere. But now that there was no need for that he just nodded. "They figure out how it's spread yet?" Should he be down in the juice bar asking these questions rather than pestering her? Probably. One more question though.. "About the bloodhounds, ma'am- I haven't met none of that team. How should I... Proceed?" He'd really like to know where they've been. Hadn't spotted one member yet. The whole teamwork thing didn't work out so well if the team wasn't around. |
He wasn't going to sit..? That was fine, but Ella remained seated and sipped her tea. More good questions that no one had the answer to, though. "We don't know how many are infected, except for the few that we already have quarantined. We also don't know how IF it is contagious. If it is, I assume there are some of is getting infected as we speak... but I haven't seen the number of infected grow significantly. But we can't be sure either way." She had noticed Isobel drooling in the meeting and her husband had definitely seemed to think it was this infection. Ella wondered how long that had been going on... And she really hoped it wasn't contagious. "We don't know how it's spread, either. If it's being spread." Because they still weren't sure if it was contagious or not. As for the bloodhounds... Ella took another drink of her tea and stood up again. "Actually, the bloodhounds do not fall under your jurisdiction. They're under the Pest Subdivision and you are in the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures Comittee. " They were similar, but different. Meh. "With that being said, the Bloodhound Leader is currently out of office and our only other employee in that area is our intern. I'm about to go down to the food court right now with some bloodhounds for the investigation." Ella flipped through the bloodhound file on her desk again and downed the rest of her tea. "If you would join me, I'm sure we could use your expertise in the investigation." |
Dexter watched her sip her tea, having almost forgotten already that she had made him one too. With a somewhat sheepish grin, he reached for the second cup and took a rather large sip. Almost burning his tongue in the process. He winced slightly and put the cup right back where he found it, deciding he'd pick it back up in a few minutes, after it cooled a bit more. "Tha's what the meetin's fer then? To try and figure tha' out?" Honestly, he wanted to know why all of the ministry employees and employers had to take care of this and not some healers from St. Mango's or whatever the name of the closest wizarding hospital was. "... So it's entirely possible that we might all be infe'ted? Tha's a scary thought, ma'am." He nodded. "Yeh, I know. I was just 'posed to be working with them. Wasn't I? I couldn't find none of them. Tha's wot I meant." Out of office? Well that made a lot of sense. Did that mean- Was the intern in charge? This confused him. A lot. He was still settling into the whole ministry chain of command and that- that was just odd to him. But he realized enough that now was not the time to voice this. Maybe some other time when an infection wasn't the main concern here. "Right. Well- I'd be happy to lend yer a hand." |
Ella was too concentrated on scanning the bloodhound files that she didn't notice Dexter burn his tongue on his tea. Whoops. Did she not mention that tea was hot? She nodded at his question. "Well it's not so much of a meeting as it is an investigation." Like she said. "But yes, we will be trying to figure out the cause." A scary thought indeed... Ella didn't want to get him too worried though. "I do want to assure you, Mr. Bronwyn, that we will get this taken care of. as soon as possible. There's nothing to worry about." ... Yet. Oh, right. Okay. That made sense. "Yes, we are kind of short on employees at the moment. I've been having to train the intern myself. Not that I mind." But anyway. Ella sighed and closed the file after deciding which bloodhounds to take on the job. "I appreciate your willingness. Anything else I can answer for you?" |
Hadley had been away from work on a 'work excursion' which seemed to her to be a failure. She sighed. She had been back a few days and had decided to meet the new Head. She left when Atticus was head, but she knew nothing about this current lady. She walked up to her door, extended her hand and knocked three times. |
Ella had been organizing the mess on her desk and searching for an owl she had received earlier the day before when she heard a knock on her office door. Grabbing her wand, she flicked it towards the door and it opened. "Come on in," she said to the woman outside. She didn't necessarily look familiar, but Ella hadn't gotten a good look yet. "How can I help you?" |
Hadley smiled at the woman as she walked in towards her. She held out her hand and said "Hello, Miss... Mrs. Wellington," she said, unsure which title it was she looked apologetically to her boss. "I'm Hadley. Hadley Willowgrass, I thought I might come in and introduce myself." |
Sorry for the wait! Ella stood as the woman entered and shook her hand, noticing that she wasn't sure which title to use in front of her name. "Just call me Ella," she said with a small smile. It was simpler for everyone, including herself. "Ah, Hadley Willowgrass, yes..." Ella hadn't met her before, but she knew she was in the Spirits division, if she remembered correctly. "It's good to finally meet you. Please, take a seat." She motioned for the chair in front of her desk and took a seat in her own. |
Having been directed to the Department Head's office, Jade stopped to take a little time to rearrange her messy hair. She really didn't want to be not presented as professional. After she did that, she quickly knocked on the door and waited for the call to come in. |
With a yawn, Ella had just taken a seat in her big office chair and was about to get to work, when she heard a knock on the door. Good timing. "Come in!" she called. It was unlocked, as usual when she was in there. |
Hearing the call to come in, Jade opened the door. First of all, she was taken back by the large window showcasing creatures, before she turned to address the department head, Constance Wellington, whom she had met on numerous occasions but had never had a chance to get to know her. Anyway, this was official business NOT for chit chat. So after she had shook hands with Ms. Wellington in greeting, Jade opened her mouth to say, "Thank you for agreeing to see me so quickly. Ms. Wellington. I'm Jade Gemstone from Accidents and Catastrophes. I'm sure that by now you've heard about the explosion that happened a short time ago in one of our labs." She waited for a second before continuing, "I'm part of the team assigned to investigate and well..." How was she going to explain this one? "We've found an unknown creature whose drool actually eats away at things and it is going insane in the lab. Standard stunning and immobilizing spells have very little effect on it. We need one of your men to come and help us urgently." She finished talking a little out of breath and waited for an answer. |
A tiny paper origami crane flutters into the office, slipping under the door and landing softly on the desk. It delicately unfolds in the middle of the Department Head's desk to reveal the following memo: Quote:

Ah, yes, she looked familiar. And when she said her name, Ella remembered. She was about to speak in reply, but the woman didn't let her. It was almost rude, but Ella soon realized that there was some panic behind the woman's voice. As she spoke, the Spaniard's eyes widened and she stood from her chair. Yes, she had heard about the explosion, but... "Merlin..." Unknown creature with destructive drool? They needed one of her men? Ella dismissed that. This was no ordinary job for the Pest division. Besides, she was running low on employees and she didn't think any of them were in the office today. "I'll come with you," she replied quickly holstering her wand. "Now." Ella ushered the woman out the door and followed her, closing the door behind them and rushed off of level five. |
After leaving Colin behind, and that mean, loud person at Florean's Saxon apparated to the ministry. It had taken her what seemed like fifteen minutes to find the Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. She finally found the right floor, and then began to walk in short steps, going back and forth, almost looking like she was doing the moon walk as she tried to guess which person was right to contact about this issue. At last, she came to her senses and found the department head, she believed. Hopefully this was the right person. Today had been such a stressful day with these crups, she didn't need to talk to the wrong person or annoy an employee. Finding the office Saxon knocked on the door quickly and several times. After a few seconds wait of silence she knocked some more again. This was urgent. |
Ella had just sat down to a cup of tea when she heard a knock on the door. And some more knocks. A bit impatient, were we? "Yes, yes, come in," she called, setting her cup down and pushing papers to the side. Eh. At least her desk looked somewhat organized. |

How did one start this? " H-h-hi. Ummm, I'm Saxon errr Kildare, yes " nervous laughter " And I work for the the the games and sports department and well, errr... I was at the fountain near Diagon, Diagon alley " She had no clue as to why she was shaking. " And I found some crups, on the loose. Err, yes. And they held some article that explained why they they they were on the loose and it said to contact your level. Mhm, that's it. " Please don't get angry at her. Saxon was a wreck at the moment. " Hiii! " |
Ella looked up as the door opened and was mildly surprised to see a younger woman, shaking in her boots. Was she that scary? She didn't think she was even remotely scary at all. But her thoughts quickly moved on from that when the girl finally spat out that there were crups loose in Diagon Alley. Ella sighed and closed her tired her eyes just for a moment. But then she put a smile back on her face and nodded at the girl. "Thank you for letting me know, dear. I'll go post a notice for my employees and we will get that taken care of immediately." Ella stood from her chair and walked around her desk and watched the woman carefully. "Are you alright?" she asked gently. Because she kind of looked like she was about to pass out. |
Oh, thank goodness. The lady wasn't that scary and in fact she didn't mind Saxon being here. Thank goodness. Saxon then randomly grabbed her head. Whoops. She hadn't told the entire story. "Umm...Umm.. Last I saw them, before..before coming here, they were creating chaos at at Florean Fortescues." The blonde nodded. Yeah. So if anything they would find the crups there. An if not, they could possibly follow a trail of anything that looked out of place. "Yes, yes. I'm fine." She started off more slowly. "I just, you know, didn't want to get in trouble or something." Yes, the girl left out the part about her always being nervous around department heads, especially the first time. She tried to express her best smile, but it came out half crooked. |
Oh, more information. Perfect. Except why in the world were crups causing trouble in Florean Fortescues? "I'll include that." Ella laughed quietly and shook her head as she made her way to the office door. "You won't get in trouble for helping out." Easy as that. And since this was kind of... urgent. Ella waved her hand towards the door to kind of, encourage the young woman out so she could post the notice for employees. Unless she had something else to add, of course. |
Saxon nodded. Good. She was getting some information out there. Oh. Oh. And now the department head was making way for the door. Saxon slowly made her way towards the door as well. She didn't want to hold her back or anything. After all, this was meant to be a quick message. "Oh, ok. Thank you very much." She continued as she sighed in relief. "Umm, have a nice day M'am." said the blonde in a hurried manner as she waved and walked out the door. |
Jade laughed to herself a little, she definitely was starting to know her way around Magical Creatures. Anyway. She drummed her knuckled fist on Ella's door *knock knock* She hoped that she wasn't interrupting anything but she did need to get permission to investigate the creature. |
There were... a lot of boxes in the office. Ella was tired. Yikes. So hopefully whoever was at the door didn't need to linger in there, because it wasn't very organized. "Come in," she called to the door. Come in, and don't mind the mess. |

Ella rested her hands on her hips and nodded at the woman from Accidents and Creatures as she entered her office and began to speak... a lot. She nodded again. "Yes, I did hear about that..." No comment. "Ah, I had my suspicions. Yes, go ahead and do whatever you need back there. Do be careful, though. That thing can be quite dangerous." As Ella was sure the woman knew by now. |
