Operations Analysis Classroom

http://i969.photobucket.com/albums/a.../classroom.png

Charmed to fit all Magical Accidents and Catastrophes employees, there isn't a single chair in the room that doesn't squeak when sat on desk that doesn't rock when written on. Lockers line the back wall for employees to use. Just make sure you are careful not to cut yourself on the door's slightly jagged and rusty edge. There are a few protective charms placed on the area to ensure that the furniture won't be damaged or spoiled by experiments and the like, but extra care should be taken while working in here and the space should primarily be used for research and small experimentation.

To the right of the lockers sits a table holding a muggle microwave and coffee maker. While we may be away from the Ministry, Accidents and Catastrophes' top notch coffee has made it all the way out here. A wall cabinet that was once use to hold books now holds new mugs that your department head bought for his employees and below this cabinet is a refrigerator. A long table that seats up to ten people is pushed up against the opposite wall for any employees looking to take a break from work and have a snack. Employees are high discourage to eat at their working desks.

Anyone? Telephones here we come.

Heading into the Operations Analysis Classroom Tasha cautiously made her way over to the coffee machine to get herself a cup. Putting on the machine she rummaged around in the cabinets until she found the phone's Aron had been talking about.

They needed muggle elektricity to work right? But she could get around that with some nifty charms, yes? Fetching her steaming hot coffee mug from the machine Tasha made her way over to a bench with the coffee and telephones and got to work.

sweetpinkpixie 03-07-2014 02:10 PM

we'll play ^^

Coffee mug in hand and some personal research in the other, Aron really had dual purpose for coming into the work area. One was to get some more coffee. The other was to check up on his employees and make sure they were on task.

Coffee first though.

Walking over to the pot, Aron tucked his papers under his arm and filled his mug up to the existing line caused from coffee stain. Looked like they were out of cream. Oh well. He could deal with having his coffee black today. Gave it more of a kick to help him get through his research.

"Good to see you hard at work, Tasha," he said, giving his employee a nod. He knew giving her that promotion had been a good idea.

Taking a sip of the steaming hot coffee Tasha concentrated on the telephone in front of her trying to understand how exactly it worked. If she didn't phantom the mechanics then how would she be able to explain it to somebody else?

Furrowing her brows in concentration she started to test it out without the use of her wand. Grabbing the phone and the cord she started to crawl around on the floor hunting for an energy faucet. There must be one in this muggle locale right? Tasha was crawling under a bench with the cord in hand when Aron walked in. Bumping her head in the bench as she stood up, brushing off dust "Hello boss. Yes, I thought I'd get to working on fixing these up." Holding up the phone in explanation Tasha asked "These need muggle electricity to work?"

natekka 03-08-2014 11:36 AM

Amber had had a REALLY tough night, so honestly, work was not a welcome thing. Especially not cleaning. Especially not cleaning when there was so much to get done. Surely there was supposed to be others helping her out, but as of yet, she'd been the only one around to clean. That meant only one thing. Coffee. Coffee would be needed and it was a good job she knew exactly where to find it.

She headed straight for the Operations Analysis Classroom as that where the coffee was at.

It seemed that she wasn't the only one around today, though. Her boss, Aron, and someone who's name she couldn't place, was also here. "Oh. Hello, boss," she greeted as she headed through the door, always flicking a smile towards the woman who seemed to be studying a telephone. Hm. She paid it no thought and made a bee line for the coffee maker.

sweetpinkpixie 03-08-2014 03:04 PM

you two *squishes*

Setting his papers down on one of the cleaner looking desks, he took a long drink from his coffee and sighed as the warmth ran down his throat and eventually warmed his insides. Really should get better heating charms put up in here, although he had hoped that one of his employees would have picked up on that by now and done it themselves. Oh well, maybe they liked working in the cold.

"If we needed them to run on muggle electricity I wouldn't have assigned you lot to charm them," he replied, bringing his mug to his lips once again and looking over the rim of it at Natasha. "Reparo should do the trick in fixing them, assuming there is only minor damage done to the internal wiring and circuits. It's setting up a private wizarding network with passcodes specific to each department that will be the tricky part." Working with these vintage muggle telephones should be an interesting feat.

Hearing someone else come in, Aron averted his gaze from the telephones to....Amber. "Morning, Amber," he greeted the woman. He had things he needed to discuss with her, but one thing at a time. "We're out of cream."

Out of cream? "Fantastic," she muttered. Cream was important in coffee and she was sure the rest of the department agreed ... they weren't crazy, after all. "I'll bring more next time I'm in," Amber told her boss. It wouldn't be a problem really, she had plenty of cream at home which could be spared. For now, she'd have to deal with cream-less coffee; there was no way she could face the day without any.

Pouring herself a cup, she turned to face the two others across the room.

She carefully lent on a table, but soon stood up straight went it began creaking ominously. Better safe than sorry. "I was planning to clean up around here today - starting with this room." Aiming her next question at the woman fiddling around with the phone, she lifted her chin slightly. "That won't bother you, will it?" Amber would be cleaning either way, here or not, but she'd preferred to start cleaning up here as most employees spent at least a little of their time here.

Made sense to her. Siiiiiiipppp.

Setting the phone down Tasha took another long sip of her coffee. Briefly glancing over at Aron she nodded. "I thought as much but it can't hurt to get it confirmed." Lovely she had her work cut out for her that was for sure. Repairing the phones, charming them to fit their needs and of course setting up a private telephone line between all the departments and of course the most important part instructing how to use them. Momentarily distracted by Arons greeting of a new woman that had walked in Tasha looked up and smiled. "Morning Amber was it? I'm Natasha."

As her focus trailed back to the vintage phone she asked both Aron and Amber. "Do either of you know how muggles use these phones when they call? Do they punch in each number separately?" Never mind the fact that Tasha's experience with muggle phones was next to none. Tasha shook her head in response to Amber's concern. "No, go ahead and clean. This place could definitely use a face lift." Shudder. They worked in a dump it was a simple as that.

SPOILER!!: Natasha!

If it wasn't for the fact that Aron had said her name when she'd walked in, Amber would have been mildly embarrassed that Natasha knew her name while she didn't know hers. "Amber, yes," she confirmed, nodding. "It's nice to meet you," she said, taking another sip of her coffee. She should be getting to work soon, but she'd make the most of this relaxed start to her day of work.

Oh .. using the phones?

That she knew about.

"Let me take a quick look." It had been quite a while since she'd used a muggle phone, but she'd grown up around them and using them, she understand how they worked on a basic level. Amber dumped her coffee on the side, wandering over to where Natasha was sat and peered over her shoulder. "I think you're right. They press the numbers in order, wait for it to ring, then hold it up to their ear." Was that what she'd meant? She assumed so, she couldn't think what else she could've meant.

Heading back to far side of the room, Amber drained the rest of the coffee and quickly got a refill. Now she'd drink while she worked. "Great, thank you," she said when Natasha said that cleaning would be no problem. Now it was just a matter of choosing where to start. The back corner was as good a place as any. Taking out her wand, she pointed in at the large gathering of dust in the corner and cast a silent 'scourgify' charm.

Cleaning had officially begun.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 03-09-2014 12:46 AM

So, the telephones. They needed to enchant them somehow to work magically instead of on electricity. This was one of those times it would be really nice if magic didn't make electricity all wonky because then it'd be one less thing on their to-do list. But Cora always appreciated a challenge - or, well, almost always - so she supposed there was no need to complain about that. At least for now.

Ah, good, Tasha was already here working on the phones. Were Aron and the other woman - what was her name? - here to work on them too? Or, no, looked like the other woman was cleaning. Which was good too. This place desperately needed a good cleaning.

"Good morning, everyone," she greeted them as she went to get herself a mug of coffee. "Any luck with the phones yet?" Possibly not, but any progress, even small, would be good.

sweetpinkpixie 03-09-2014 08:24 AM

Cream wasn't exactly an urgent matter, but he was pleased with the offer none the less. New eager employees were great like that. His blue eyes went right back to Natasha when she spoke again and grunted a little under his breath. So that had been a rhetorical question? He didn't have time for rhetorical questions and 'making sure.' He needed his employees to know what to do without seeking confirmation. Made him feel like he was repeating himself.

Oh for the love of holly. Tempted to throw his arms up in the air, he picked up the nearest telephone and went into cave man mode while pointing to things. "You pick this up, wait for a dial tone, punch in the numbers here, wait for the person on the other end to pick up." And receiver was going back into place and he was going to try not to be so short. There was just a lot of stress going on and not all Ministry related. Truth be told he was probably a bit more concerned about his wife's welfare at the moment.

Although his blunt phone demonstration wasn't really needed since Natasha and Amber had a handle on things. Oh well.

Breathe mate, just breathe.

"Just getting started," he replied to Cora. Breathing. Taking another sip from his coffee now. "Either phone work or cleaning."

Nordic Witch 03-09-2014 06:14 PM

Everyone...

Tasha could definitley grow to like Amber. She seemed nice and helpful. When Amber came over and demonstrated how the phone worked Tasha watched attentively. When Amber was done Tasha said with a warm smile. "Thanks. In what division do you work?" Maybe she could have figured out how the phone worked on her own but if someone knew it saved time and questions later.

And then Aron came over and demonstrated the same thing as Amber had just done with the phone, but in a much more irritated and stressed manner. It earned him a long glance from Tasha's side. "Is everything all right boss? You seem stressed." Not that their current working environment wasn't enough to put a strain on anyone.

Pulling her wand out Tasha was just about to repair the minor damages she had found when inspecting the phone when Cora walked in. "Hey Cora, want to give me a hand with the phones? They all need to be repaired and re-charmed."

lemon 03-09-2014 09:59 PM

If anyone had excuses for being late, it was Sherman. Merlin knew this kind of place was no proper setting for an elderly- his wheelchair had gone over too many bumps to count, and he kept getting lost. It was still unclear exactly where he'd been until now, but as soon as he heard the word 'charms' coming from a room, he'd entered it. And lo and behold, there were the phones.

Was... he allowed to talk? Did he have to raise his hand? Sherman did just that.

"I can... um.. help. Me. With the charms." Yep. That was his job, right? Helping. And stuff. With charms. And stuff.

Scary new coworkers were scary.

natekka 03-09-2014 11:50 PM

-- Cora, 'Tasha & mention of Sherman

One would be surprised by how useful the charm 'scourgify' could be. Corner after corner, surface after surface of dust and grime was cleaned in a matter of minutes. A lot simpler than the thinking that was required when working with charms .. such as the ones which needed to be put on the muggle phones. Amber thought that in that respect, she'd gotten off lightly. Not much effort was needed to clean, it was just boring work, but it needed doing nonetheless.

She looked up briefly as someone else had entered the room. "Morning. I'm Amber," she said, barely pausing in her cleaning to introduce herself. She wasn't sure if it was necessary for her to introduce herself right now, but it would need doing eventually, right? Now was as good a time as any.

Hm. Amber's gaze flicked from Aron to Natasha, as she moved to perch by them.

Someone needed coffee, ASAP and good coffee at that.

She aimed a smile towards Natasha who seemed nice enough. Good to work with it seem, which was a bonus. "No problem," she assured the other woman, standing up to reach another spot in need of cleaning. "Division Three. Specifically, Event Concealment." It was a good job for her as she liked being in the center of the action and was also quite skilled with charms. "Yourself?" She asked, curious herself now about the woman she was working with ... Amber quickly cast a couple more silent charms, getting rid of spider webs attached to a couple of table legs and removed a particularly nasty stain from the nearest wall.

Amber glanced up once again as yet another person entered the room. In a wheelchair. Well, the more the merrier, she guessed. Plus they could really use all the help they could get to get these phones charmed and working ... just as long as the help didn't get in the way of her work. Cleaning was going on here, you know?

AlwaysSnapesGirl 03-13-2014 08:01 PM

Was Aron alright? He seemed a little on edge, though Cora wasn't going to comment on it. It was understandable, she supposed. This place wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows - though maybe a few charms could make it so. That'd be interesting. She just nodded though as she took a sip of her cream-less coffee and turned to Tasha. "Sure, that's what I'm here for," she replied with another nod.

As she moved over to where Tasha sat, her attention was directed to a much older man wheeling himself in. Ah, another new person for the department? Always interesting. Why was he raising his hand though? This wasn't school. "Excellent. Come on over here with us then." The more help the better.

Oh, and introductions with the other woman. "Nice to meet you. I'm Cora." Amber got a smile and a nod.

sweetpinkpixie 03-16-2014 12:54 AM

decloning...messing with TL like WOAH ... but we'll be back...WITH A JOSH

Running his fingers through his hair and tugging on it once his hands and run to the back of his head just below the ears, Aron zoned out for a few brief moments of panic before pulling himself back together. Now was NOT the time to lose focus on personal matters and it was the last thing he needed right now for someone to make a big stink about him being unfit for his position. "You saw the Prophet," he said, assuming, as he glanced towards Tasha.

That said it all, didn't it?

Which reminded him that he needed to head to the 'laboratory' here and do some poking around with Seren's latest DNA sample.

"I'll leave you lot to your work for the time being," he said, giving Sherman a small nod when the old man entered. Hearing the faint buzz of a visitor setting off the alarm, he quickly walked over towards the door and left without saying another word.

Fira 03-16-2014 01:42 AM

The first thing Josh did once he walked in was taking a quick look around. This place looked...simple. Eh...he hoped those who complained about the underground working place of MLE would see this one and realise the MLE headquarters were much more fun. There were rats around the place, no windows and parts of it already smelled so you could relieve yourself without anyone nothing...that is, if you can refrain from announcing it to everyone.

After the momentary eyeing around, Josh started to walk around passing by people and desks and stuff. He eyed the stuff on the desks a bit, then the ceiling and the walls until his eyes found the refrigerator. Approaching it immediately, he opened its door and started to mess with its contents looking for something nice for himself to enjoy.

"I'm in Division Four, specifically Spell Researching and the Experimental Charms Committee." Tasha responded with a smile to Amber as she used her wand to repair another phone. Eyeing the open cupboards she accioed the other boxes full of telephones and perched them on the desk nearby. Why walk there and back to fetch them when you could just as easily get them with a little effortless magic? "So, where do you come from? Have you worked at the ministry long?" Tasha asked curiously. Bonding with your co-workers over work seemed like an efficient way to spend her day.

"Got any ideas for which spells we can use to charm the phones to work as a secure telephone line between the ministry departments scattered all over London?" Because as Aron had announced at the department meeting the usual ways of getting messages between departments was out of order and didn’t work when all the departments were scatted all over London.

Aron’s wife was probably one of the people infected by that peculiar disease the Daily Prophet had wrote about was raging at Hogwarts. That was why her boss was so out of sorts. He was worried. Tasha didn’t get any words out before Aron left to no doubt take care of whoever it was that had set off the visitors alarm.

Focusing on the phones in front of her Tasha worked efficiently in silence for a few minutes repairing each phone before levitating it over to the pile of newly repaired phone on the desk to her left.

Tasha had a worked up a good flow with inspecting and repairing when she was distracted by a man who clearly didn’t work in Accidents and Catastrophes sauntering in, eyeing the place up and then headed for their refrigerator which he started to plunder its content without asking for permission. Raising a brow Tasha called out. "Excuse me, who are you?"

sweetpinkpixie 03-19-2014 02:13 AM

Once inside, Aron shut the door behind them and marched back over to his cup of coffee that was now cold. Muttering under his breath, he gave his wand a lazy wave to reheat the contents and then gave their visitor a side eyes glance when he began making himself at home.

Ug. Aurors. While Aron held them in high respect - because they DID have a very dangerous position - they also had the tendency of thinking that they owned the place. But hey, as long as he didn't break anything? Right?

"This is Josh Carter, an auror from MLE. He is here to check out our security and assist us." He actually had something other than repairing telephones that he could use a bit of help with, but who among this lot to take with him.... He ventured another glance over towards Josh. "Magically enhanced telephones. To communicate with the other departments since we don't have flying memos nor the need to go halfway across London."

Fira 03-19-2014 03:16 AM

Hmmm...c'mooonn. Didn't the accidents people have any yummy stuff being kept in their office refrigerator? Josh just kept looking in it more searching for something good and he only took a break from it when he heard a woman's voice asking who he was. She was talking to him, right? Just when he opened his mouth to answer the accidents worker woman's question, Aron walked in and did the job for him. "Yeah." Josh confirmed what their department head said and he pointed at his tag with his name on his chest. "Indeed, i am here for security." Then he returned to the refrigerator and to his joy, he spotted a sandwich that looked good enough. He immediately picked it and closed the refrigerator door.

After tearing the folio wrapped around the sandwich, he leaned against a nearby desk, took a bite and listened to stuff. "Magically enchanted telephones. Sounds like a bright idea." he said as he chewed. He swallowed then and went on "In which way those telephones are enchanted though?"

sweetpinkpixie 03-19-2014 12:39 PM

Yeah, sorry there dude. The refrigerator wasn't exactly full of things to devour. The coffee was good though. Still the best in the Ministry even without the actual Ministry building. Aron would let his own employees introduce themselves, he had just felt the need to for Carter since he was a visitor and all that jazz.

Coffee now sufficiently warmed, he brought the mug to his lips and took a long swig from it. "Well, it's really all about blending in now, isn't it? Granted not all of us are located in areas with muggle heavy foot traffic," he said, blowing into his mug a little before taking another sip. "Muggles wouldn't suspect a telephone ringing, only some of us aren't in areas where electricity is present." Like...their building. "So they will run on magic, similar to the Wizarding Wireless."

He took several more long sips from his mug. "So, Carter, tell me...how are your investigation skills?"

Fira 03-20-2014 01:50 AM

Blending in. Right. Riiiight. Josh really didn't see why people around were so alarmed about muggles. They were no trouble. None at all. His father being a muggle, all the relatives that were close him were muggles. He lived with them and stuff and nope, they were no trouble. Just take off the cloaks, hide your wand, watch your mouth and bam! You could become a muggle too. And if something too bad happened, they had all the charms and stuff. People in this department would know better about it than anyone else. So...meh. The auror took another bite. "I see."

Sweet Merlin!! What was this?

Josh grimaced as an extremely unpleasant taste did spread in his mouth from something he chewed. What did these guys put in their sandwiches? Owl food? Ewww...this was disgusting and since he felt like he might throw up, he couldn't answer Aron's question.

"Bleargh...!"

Immediately he put the disgusting sandwich away and freed whatever in his mouth right on the floor. No throwing up, just getting rid of the disgusting stuff in his mouth. Then running towards the spot where he supposed he could find drinks, he rushed and literally messed with everything on the desks in search of fresh water.

sweetpinkpixie 03-21-2014 05:04 AM

Removing some files from a folder on the back table and pulled a London map out of of the files. Unfolding it, he quickly began to scan it for their current location when the sound of Carter somewhat regurgitating whatever he had put in his mouth interrupted.

"Crikey...I don't know how things are done over there in MLE, but over here we don't do that sort of thing." Merlin, his reputation preceded him. They didn't need MORE things mucking up the building. Had plenty of that on their own thank you very much.

And then he was touching EVERYTHING and disorganizing EVERYTHING. Emily was going to hear about this.

"CARTER," Aron shouted. "When in the holy holly do you think you are doing?!" Besides destroying the work space. "Stop touching all that."

Fira 03-21-2014 01:17 PM

Water!!! WATER!! Seriously, where was water? They had all this coffee thing but no water??!!

Eh...he was being yelled at but now the auror had other priorities; like saving himself as he was slowly dying from this awful taste. Finally, his dark brown eyes spotted a mug. Was it already used? Meh! He didn't care and he didn't care whose mug it was. The only problem was that it was on the other desk and there was another desk between him and the target desk. The big man threw himself on the desk before him and reached to the other grabbing the mug. Then while still lying on the desk on his stomach, he filled the mug with fresh water with a quick wandwork and started to drink like he was dying of dehydration.

"Merlin..." he took deep breaths between consuming large amounts of water. Then he finally he pushed himself off the desk and stood up facing Aron. "What?!" he growled "I was in a bad situation."

Because some departments really worked within Muggle areas, if she remembered what she'd heard correctly, and it wouldn't be good to repel them completely from where they ought to be allowed to go, yes?

But then - a random guy walked in, fortunately followed by Aron who explained who he was. Right. Cora raised an eyebrow when the man immediately started raiding the refrigerator instead of getting to work, but the DH didn't seem bothered by it so she didn't comment. But then it got even worse. Apparently he didn't like what he'd eaten and was suddenly behaving worse than a wild animal. Merlin's beard, really?!?

She cast a quick Shield Charm over their work stuff so it wouldn't get further damaged, and finally things were slightly calm again. "You could've just pointed your wand at your mouth and sprayed the water right into it," she pointed out, eyebrow still raised. Seriously would've saved a lot of time and effort looking for a little mug. Merlin's beard.
