Video: James & Oliver Phelps take part in Cowes Week Artemis Challenge sailboat race
Actors James and Oliver Phelps participated in the annual Cowes Week Artemis Challenge, where celebrities ride on sailboats across the Isle of Wight in the UK to benefit their charity of choice.
James and Oliver, who sailed this past Tuesday, supported the RNLI, an organisation that provides "24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the coasts of the UK and RoI, as well as a seasonal lifeguard service on many of the busiest beaches in England and Wales." A short video of the twins comparing the racing to life on the green-screen-laden sets of the Harry Potter films can be seen below.
Quote:
James: A lot of the stuff we do in the studios is all purpose-built set for explosions and things will explode, they're not of green-screen. Whereas this isn't green screen, and if you get wet, you're going to get wet.
James, Oliver, and team captain Steve White received £10,000 to benefit the RNLI. The twins also had this to say in regards to their participation in the charity race.
Quote:
James, who is back for a second year sailing in the Artemis Challenge, said: ‘We had a great time with Steve onboard the boat. Last year we had quite light winds so it was really good to get a taste of what it’s like in windier weather this year. I really enjoyed the grinding – I never knew I had forearms until I had a go at that; they’re quite sore now!’
Oliver said: ‘We’re really thrilled to be able to lend our support to the RNLI and although we weren’t on the first boat across the line we had an excellent day in aid of a great charity.’
Also participating in the race was Martin Bayfield, who has stood in for Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid's body-double whenever height was required for the eight Harry Potter films.
