Pottermore creates timeline of famous wizards & witches, from Merlin to Harry Potter
Pottermore created a visual timeline of those famous wizards and witches throughout the ages and around the world, starting from the Ancient Greek soothsayer Mopsus all the way down to Harry Potter, born in 1980.
All characters listed have been introduced either in the Harry Potter books, Pottermore itself, through author J.K. Rowling's interviews, and the early video games that revealed background information through Chocolate Frog cards.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them author Newt Scamander is on the timeline, born in 1897.
Of particular note is that of the famous people over the ages, Lord Voldemort/Tom Riddle was noticeably absent from the list, despite it including both heroes and villains (like Morgan le Fay) through the centuries. Voldemort is mentioned briefly in Harry's caption on the timeline at the very end only.
Oooooooooh yes!! This is fantastic! A little strange about Tom Riddle/Voldemort not being listed though. Maybe she's waiting to release more info about him later??

dude this is awesome! not complete yeah but we can see the Wizards and Witches that have contributed something of (generally good) significance to the Wizarding world.
also, it says Newt Scamander is still alive he's be like... 118 yrs old now i wonder if JKR plans to have him release a write up to herald the Fantastic Beasts movie coming out next?

seems like the timeline features those who contributed something of significance to Wizarding history, specially if its positive. aside from Tom Riddle, Grindelwald wasnt on the list either.

it would be great if they had pictures too. just like in chocolate frog cards in video games. maybe they creat images for all the witches and wizards on the list *praying*
